You could not beat the staff. The restaurant connected was wonderful. The view out the window was incredible and the bed was very comfortable

Had a quick but terrific stay. Hotel staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. I'll definitely stay here on my next visit. One lousy thing: they use some sort of fake eggs in their breakfasts. Totally ridiculous. Couldn't believe it. Please use real eggs in everything.

Their website states that parking is free. However, I was charged $7.50 per day on top of the $186 per night room rate. The suites have micro-fridges chock-full of pricey beverages, rendering them useless. No wonder they don't feature microwaves. I upgraded to a corner suite because they said it had a balcony. For a guest the size of a pigeon that is! They need to vacuum under the cushions on the sofas now and then. Although some aspects of their corporate policies stink, the hotel staff is very helpful.

Staff were very friendly, attentive and cheerful. The downtown area of Nanaimo continues to evolve as the mix of old and new coexisted in tension. I would easily and gladly stay again. The restaurant food (dinner) was excellent.

Always enjoy Coast Bastion Inn. Great view of the waterfront. Right in the middle of historic Nanaimo. Walking distance to stores and restaurants.

I had great service for an overnight stay. The location is excellent overlooking the Bastion and right in the historic centre of Nanaimo.

This was our second stay at the coast bastion for a Christmas visit, and the staff really made our stay memorable! Our grandson was with us, and they were so friendly and helpful I can see many more such stays in our future!

enjoyed walking on the docks.

A very convenient stop on our way to Tofino. Very friendly and informative staff. Comfortable beds.

I have no complaints about the hotel staff, but do have complaints about the condition of the hotel and its policy of admitting dogs.I had to move out of my first room because the heating/air conditioner did not work. The second night I was kept awake by a barking dog. Apparently, dogs are allowed to stay in this hotel. This is a very poor policy for paying guests who do not have dogs and who go without sleep as a result of this ill-advised policy. I can't say that this was a pleasant stay at all.

Great hotel in a very good location. Love that all the rooms seem to have a view... highly recommend.

This hotel was very clean, convieniently located downtown, and great service. Only complaint was that a dog was barking on our floor that was annoying. Staff could not do much as the owners were not in their room. Other than that, I would recommend.

I have just spent 2 nights (Sept 2011) at the Coast Bastion Inn hotel. On arrival the staff were friendly, helpful, polite and made me and the rest of the group fell very welcome. I had a room with a view of the bay..! In regards to the room I have to say tit was modern, very clean, in good condition and very comfortable especially after a 10 hour flight, taxi ride across Vancouver and a ferry journey from Horseshoe bay...! The restaurant provides a great breakfast and again the staff are so friendly and helpful. There is a small gym if you need it and the local town (if I can call it a town) is less than a minutes walk away. More importantly the bay is on your door step with great walks, restaurants, coffee shops etc.

One night stay only. Very comfy bed. Only thing was I thought was that the carpet was pretty dated in our room. Very friendly staff.

Our 4 day stay at the Coast Bastion was beyond expectations. On our arrival we were informed our 4th day was free..totally unexpected and we were greated with a wine and cheese basket in our room.. again unexpected. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. The room was modern, very clean, and the views of the harbour were spectacular. Everything was in walking distance with great shops and resturants nearby. We would highly recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Located right on the harbor, the Coast Bastion Inn is ideally situated for walks along the seawall and for experiencing the ambiance of downtown Nanaimo (albeit a very small area). It is close to waterfront shops and cafes. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful.

Within walking distance of seaplane port. Easy and helpful signing in, good bar and restaurant, comfortable and spacious room. In the historical, arty and marina so easy sightseeing and close to other restaurants.

A very comfortable hotel room, spacious. We arrived at a great time - fire works that we viewed from our hotel room during the Victoria Day weekend. A highlight! The hotel is close to the harbor, near restaurants and shopping.

unable to get any wifi in room. Had to use lobby to get internet. Major parking problems at check in and difficulty finding a place to park with pick up truck

The hotel is located at the harbour and some rooms offer a nice view, although balconies are tiny and do not allow you sitting outside enjoying the view. Most restaurants are a bit further aways, however in walking distance. This is a nice hotel for a short stay, though nothing special - something you would expect for this price and location.

The Coast Bastion Inn is a very nice hotel right in the heart of downtown Nanaimo. It's clean, the rooms have been updated with modern decor and furnishings, lending an upscale look and feel to the hotel, and the room I was in had a great view of Nanaimo Harbour. The check-in staff were courteous, and informative about local restaurants. I would fully recommend this hotel based on my experience.

I stayed at this hotel in July 2010. Staff were very helpful, offering us a choice of rooms on different floors (we had a standard room on the 7th floor, one floor below the more expensive 'ocean view' rooms) and offering to store our bags while we went out on the day we checked out. The rooms were renovated, nicely decorated, roomy and clean. The hallways are in the process of being renovated, so are not as nice as the rooms, but apparently soon will be. Breakfast in the restaurant was not great - orange juice and croissant seemed as if they had both been just taken out of a supermarket box, and continental breakfast was over priced, in my opinion, however. The area is very nice - half a block from the seawall, in the downtown area of Nanaimo that is being re-vitalized, so interesting shops and restaurants in the area.

目の前がウォーターフロントで景色が良かったです。朝早起きしての散歩はとても気持ちがよく、おススメです。ただ、ダウンタウンのメインの大きなバス停から10分ほどと少し距離があるので、荷物が多い時には大変でした。（ホテル前にもバス停があるので、そこに止まるバスにうまく乗れれば問題ないと思います）ホテルの方もとても親切でフレンドリー、好印象でした。バンクーバーとつなぐフェリー乗り場からもタクシーで12ドル程と近く全体的には満足です。
