Abando - بيلباو

Very convenient to the train station, but the hotel is starting to show it's age. The rooms were comfortable, but the wear and tear was starting to show. The staff was hesitantly helpful. They could have ben a bit more accomodating. I would stay again, but only because of the location and the price.

Hotel Abando is located just a few blocks from the Abando train station. And the Guggenheim and Bellas Artes museums are only a ten minute walk, as well as the Casco Viejo in the other direction. There is a metro stop just around the corner from the hotel that you can use to take to the Termibus station if, for example, you are trying to get to France by bus to Hendaye. Bilbao has a ton of lovely bridges and pedestrian paths and lovely parks all very close to the hotel. As for the hotel, the staff was hit or miss, with one friendly young man who checked me in, but the others were not friendly. When I complained about an incredibly loud banging noise in my 6th floor room, like construction noise or metal machinery clanging together, the man I spoke with acted like I was making it up. Finally he brought over another woman who worked there and asked me to repeat it, and she acted incredulous as well. She went in back to tell it to a third worker, then came back and reported that it must be the noise of the gym. So finally they agreed to give me another room. The other room was quieter but the carpet was stained, perhaps 30 or 40 stains varying in size from dimes to quarters and a few larger. Also the furniture was stained and the beds were uncomfortable. Also there was a strange smell, like vinegar, as if a cheap cleansing agent had been used. Once I laid down to sleep, there was a strong urine smell that wafted to my nose frequently. I had flushed the toilet so it was not coming from there or the bathroom. On the positive, the water pressure was sufficient. The place did have air conditioning although due to the urine and vinegar smells, I maintained the windows open at all times. The cost of the internet in the lobby of the hotel in case you did not bring your own computer for wifi, was more than I felt reasonable, but I did not have problems finding internet cafes especially across the river towards Cafe Arenal which had excellent churros con chocolate. Easy to say the hotel was a disappointment. The room had the air of falling into disrepair and management not caring, but the worst bit was the night. With a rock hard ancient bed and a plumbing that shook the room every time anyone nearby flushed their toilet, I had barely an hour of sleep over night. Some of the staff was downright rude, like a barman making jokes, under his breath in spanish, of customer daring to speak english. I was on a three week tour, and had stayed in several 3-5 star hotels, but this literally was the rock bottom. Sad, as the hotel location is terriffic.

Abando is the name of the Railroad Station and the area that this wonderful hotel is located. Hotel Abando is an easy six minute walk from the station and 15 minutes from the Guggenheim Museum. The hotel was clean and modern and located on a quiet street near many cafes. We considered it the best of the six hotels we stayed in on this trip to Spain.

The staff was very helpful and spoke English. The location makes it easy to visit the tourist sights. Easy access from train and bus stations with metro only a block from the hotel. Old Town, the Guggenheim, and tourist sights are all within walking distance.

I stayed two nights at the Abando,after arriving by airport bus and getting off in town, then needed to take the metro one stop. It was easy to find then. generally quiet and pleasant. I chose to eat in for breakfast and found it fairly priced and convenient rather than go out as it was cold weather. Easy to get around to all places in the centre and walk to attractions or shops/restaurants. Good 4 * value.

This was a four star hotel with the most helpful receptionist I've ever met. Very modern appearance (clearly used by many Spanish business people). Not as noisy as other have suggested; convenient for the Guggenheim & the city centre. Highly recommended.

What an amazing value hotel in a great location. This is easily the best hotel in Europe that I have stayed in for that price! It is only 10 ins from the old quarter, 15 mins from the Gugggenheim, and less than 5 minutes from the hub-bub of bars and restaurants of that neighbourhood. The only minus (so common in hotels) was that the air circulation made the room too warm at night. But apart from that, everything was perfect.

Through work, I recently stayed at the Abando for 10 nights. The hotel is ideally placed for visiting the major sites in Bilbao and it also near the shops. So top marks there! However, my room was disappointing because from the website I had formed the impression that the hotel is very modern and thus expected this theme throughout. I'd go as far as saying that my room was a tad on the shabby side - stained wallpaper and carpet, peeling paintwork and dated decor. I cannot say that it was very clean either - cobwebs everywhere! The reception staff were helpful and answered any queries I had, but it wasn't service with a smile! I did not eat breakfast at the hotel as it was very overpriced for what you get. There are plenty of cafes nearby serving the usual breakfast fare for a lower price. Overall, I can say that my stay at the Abando was a little disappointing.

The hotel is an ideal place to stay for a visit to Bilbao. The Metro and main-line railway stations are within a 3-minute walk and the immediate area is ideal for shopping (El Corte Ingles quite near). In addition, there is a wide selection of tapas bars and restaurants in the area. The desk staff were very helpful, the room was clean and well maintained and the breakfast buffet was excellent. A minor disappointment was the hotel bar which merged into the general reception area and had little or no ambiance. The staff were helpful in giving directions and pointing out specific sights and restaurants. One of the Bilbao tourist offices is in a square about 200 metres from the hotel just up the street and I found the assistance there excellent. While is was on a leisure 3 day trip, the hotel seemed to cater for business guests as well. I would recommend the hotel and most certainly will stay there again.

Everything was good, but the internet connection was not consistent. For someone who needs the internet, the experience was frustrating. Other than that, the room, the location were very good for the price.

comfortable, clean, and nice assortment of things available in the room- minibar, etc. Parking is 12 Euros/day in a secure garage. There is no laundry service for 1 night stays. There was no fitness room to my knowledge.

Room was nice size for Europe and very clean. No complaints here.

trés bien hotel prix correct service ok

Están redecorando algunas habitaciones, de forma que , a mi entender, cambiará la idiosincracia histórica del Hotel.

Vanuit het hotel, met heerlijke ontbijt tentjes in de straat ligt heel centraal, alles te voet te bereiken, ook de oude stad en met de tram naar het Guggenheim museum als je te moe bent.

Great location, very close to restaurants, bars and the shopping area. Walking distance to Casco Viejo and the Guggenheim museum. Helpful staff. Our room was large and the bathroom was well-equiped, but the minibar was a bit pricey and the chair by the desk was old and seemed like it was going to break soon. Good parking below the hotel. Would recommend this hotel.

Très bien situé pour la visite de Bilbao. Aspect un peu vieillot. Très bon buffet de petit déjeuner.

Our room was comfortable and fairly large for a four-star establishment. Really clean. The location is excellent. Breakfast buffet well worth the 12€. Keeping hotel prices in other western countries in mind, at Abando you get great quality for your money.

Hotel Abando is heel centraal gelegen in Bilbao, zodat eigenlijk alle bezienswaardigheden op loopafstand liggen. Dat zelfde geldt voor halte plaatsen van het openbaar vervoer. Het hotel zelf heeft weinig bijzonders. Op de kamer gmaar één gemakkelijke stoel; geen balkon en al helemaal geen uitzicht.

Très bien, rien a déplorer. Très grand lit, personnel très gentil, pas bruyant du tout... juste tarif du parking cher mais c'était prévu...

Plusieurs séjours. Toujours impeccable.circuler à pied. Parking souterrain payant mais très appréciable ; véhicule en sécurité. Quartier très agréable. L'hôtel est très bien placé pour circuler à pied. Mention également pour le restaurant de l'hôtel ( plats raffinés, très bonne qualité ) personnel attentif. Petit déjeuner en salle : buffet très varié. Bar calme et pratique en cas de petite faim ou soif.. Seul bémol: pour rentrer après un spectacle au Palacio Euskalduna Jauregia, excentré , très difficile d'obtenir un taxi, même en passant par l'accueil de l'hôtel.

Todo en este hotel se enmarca dentro de "es correcto" simplemente. No hay nada especial ni reseñable, ni las habitaciones, ni el servicio... todo está dentro de una mediocridad que como digo, es correcta, pero podría mejorarse fácilmente.

Das Hotel Abandon in Bilbao liegt ganz in der Nähe des Bahnhofs und des Busbahnhofs, sowie der Altstadt und dem Guggenheim-Museum. Das Hotelpersonal ist sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Leider sind die Zimmer zur Strasse laut, da keine schalldichten Fenster. Der Teppichboden in den Zimmern, ich habe 2 besichtigt, ist fleckig. Das Badezimmer war geräumig und neu.

O hotel é próximo às melhores opções da cidade e, além de muito confortável, tem um staff muito atencioso e simpático.

Très bon accueil, buffet petit déjeuner très bien, chambre agréable. Le restaurant de l'hotel est aussi une bonne adresse.

Entre vieille ville et ville moderne, l'hôtel permet des promenades en ville pour mieux la découvrir. Personnel de qualité. Seuls petits défauts: prix du parking non indiqué sur le descripif - moquette chambre usagée - Insonorisation un peu juste. Mais le rapport qualité / prix reste très bon. Nous y retournerons lors d'une prochaine escapade!

Superbe décoration, tendance et branchée. Personnel accueillant et aimable. Trés bonne situation de l'Hotel au coeur de Bilbao. Chambre et sanitaire spacieux, propres avec toutes les commoditées. J'y retourne sans aucun soucis.

Le petit déjeuner bien qu'un peu cher (8 euros) est excellent avec beaucoup de choix.

Bel hotel. Nous avons pu bénéficier d'un très complet petit déjeuner à 8 euros au lieu de 12 !! Bien sûr comme partout le parking était hors de prix (15 ou 18 Euros par jour) donc nous avons préféré galerer pour se garer sur la voie public. Proche du Guggenheim et du quartier des restau.

hôtel bien situé à Bilbao - Entrée de l'hôtel impéccapble chambres vieillottes et propreté à revoir ! Surtout au niveau du lit (couverture, dessus de lit...) - la chambre sentait le renfermée - Personnel de l'hôtel acceuillant, disponible et serviable.Bien evidemment cela ne vaut pas les 4 étoiles France mais un bon 2 étoiles ! Parking voiture de l'hôtel excessif (14€ / J) mais toutes les rues sont payantes et pas à la journée et trés compliqué à comprendre...résultat une amende de 12€ pour la journée ! Alors à vous de faire votre choix...

Cet hötel est à 500 m du musée Guggenheim et du vieux Bilbao. Il est très bien situé. Les chambres sont confortables et le service de qualité. Certaines chambres sont un peu sombres et donnent sur d'autres immeubles... Pour le reste, tout est parfait. Un parking est à disposition et pas très cher.
