Hôtel Ellington - نيس

We had a Deluxe Room 'double room' which absolutely failed to impress. The room was tiny, not sufficient walking space between the wall and the bed. The wall mounted TV was a joke, screen was far too small. The furniture was cheap and not a single drawer in the room. There was no space to accommodate one suitcase let alone two. Only good thing was the bathroom, which had a decent size. Would definitely not return to this hotel.

Short walk to the main parts of the city (old town, the sea etc) Hotel is clean but not much in the way of service. Maids had a habit of waking you up at 8am to clean the room.

the location of this hotel is good...it said 4 star but i have to say that the room i had was never 4 star more travel lodge...the breakfast was very expensive for what was on offer and i had it only the one morning...the staff were friendly enough and the valet parking is very good..and a must in "NICE" parking is a nightmare...i was there in march it was very warm and when i asked for the air conditioning to be turned on i was informed that it was not available until may... consequently we slept with the French doors open and got bitten to death by mosquitoes the rest of our stay was very hot and uncomfortable at night afraid to sleep with doors open.....

Extremely convenient both inside the room and the hotel location. The room had a mini-fridge -- very unexpected in Europe -- and a hot water pot for coffee and tea. I asked for and got a bathroom with a bathtub that also had a shower, also not a given in Europe. The tub was normal length but a wall jutted stand-up space, a little inconvenient and no weighted shower curtain, so a little billowy... I have put clip-on shower curtain weights onto my packing list for Europe. But in Europe there is often no shower curtain at all, so this was all very convenient. Room was small, I pushed bed over to make more floor space where I could use it, that worked great. There is a safe in closet. You have to ask for the lock at front desk and leave a 30 euro deposit, which is returned when you return the lock mechanism. Apparently they had a lot of guests leave the hotel without their valuables and taking the key with them, so they went to this system. Note that it is a keyed lock, not a combination, so I did not use it. The one problem I had was loose doorknob on bathroom door, which came off in my hand when I shut the bathroom door. Very fortunately the bathroom had a window, from which I was able to organize my rescue (fortunately I also speak some French). This could have been a BIG problem as my room was at very end of hall and it was not the time of the maids being nearby to call to. Hotel came promptly to my rescue once I recruited a passerby to go in the hotel and tell the front desk that the in room # ___ was stuck. Hotel had a new doorknob installed by my return that night. (Note -- my room door was "deadbolted" which I thought might present a problem for them to get in. It did not. This has affected my view (generally) of what any hotel "deadbolt" really prevents in the way of unwanted entry. Also generally speaking, I will in future always carefully examine any hotel room's bathroom doorknob for tightness to avoid this problem. The single room I stayed in was in the st

I stayed here with my wife for a long weekend in November. Location is great during off-season since the hotel is not on the beach boulevard and it is not affected with winds. This hotel is just few blocks away from a bus stop for airport busses, few blocks from the tram line and all the shopping is just few minutes walking distance s the well old town.

The hotel is nioce - the staff excellent - but the rooms are small and overall i think not good value. you could do much beter staying somewhere else. The breakfast is very good and excellent for 14 euros - and they have an outdoor terrace to enjoy it.

My stay at the Hotel Ellington was great. The staff was helpful and very nice. The staff all spoke English and selfishly, that was a big plus. The location was fantastic and only 2 blocks from the heart of the shopping distinct and just a short walk to the sea. The décor in the public areas of the hotel and some of the renovated rooms were beautiful but unfortunately, I was given a room that had not been updated so it was dated. The hotel does offer free wifi for 1 hour at a time and they tell you it is only available in the lobby which is not convenient. While I was fortunate to be able to access the network from my room on the 3rd floor the hotel does need to expand the wifi network so you don’t have to sit in the lobby to access the network. I recommend this hotel and hopefully you will get one of the renovated rooms so your stay will be that much more enjoyable.

Only 2 minutes from two shopping centers and 5 minutes to the old down town, but still a nice quiet hotel with a fantastic service

We had a wonderful experience at The Ellington. It is so tastefully done and the staff is helpful, friendly and accomodating!

Not to close to the train station as they said.You can walk from the train but it will be around 30 minutes in not not a good area.AC was not on and you have to let the windows open. They have a gym next to the hotel and you could not sleep listening to the music from the gym. Because the AC was off and you have to let the window open, you will have mosquitoes all over the room and mosquitoes bites the next day. You can find a better hotel in from of the beach.

This hotel was great. If you are an amercian traveling to Nice they are very accomidating and helpful. There was a woman at the front desk named Sarah and she was extremely helpful with a number of things that I needed to do for work. Enjoy your stay and if you are looking for a helpful staff this is the place.

We have stayed at this hotel many times and have previously been very pleased. However, on this occasion we had a deluxe room, as we normally do, but feel that those customers who book online or at a discount get room 101 which we have occupied before. It over looks the front of the hotel on to a main, busy road and we had the window open into the night, because the aircon had been switched off centrally, and had traffic noise throughout the night; it is never quite. The room is next to the lifts and there are quite a few guests going back and forward, some not very quietly, into the early hours. This room is also opposite the hotel office which is also quite busy. The bathroom is very small for a deluxe room and had a distinct smell of drains. The hotel is in a great location; next to nothing but close to everything; shops, museums, restaurants ...The hotel is very stylish with a distinct jazz theme. There is a flight of steps to get up to reception, no alternative access, which are quite a problem if you have restricted mobility as I do. The staff are very helpful and spaek good English. I do recommend this hotel if you can get it at a good price and avoid room 101.

This is a lovely 4* hotel in the centre of Nice just minutes walk from the Old Town, shopping area and the Promenade. The hotel is modern and nicely decorated with a small, but excellent bar and a lovely outdoor seating area. Our room was large and clean and the bathroom was nicely done with a good shower and bath. The only issue for us was that our room was on the 2nd floor at the front and was noisy with traffic coming past on the road, plenty of sirens, street washers at 5am and could clearly hear anyone talking outside the hotel which affected our sleep. Overall though, a great hotel in a good location.

Hotel Ellington is a wonderful hotel located in a fabulous location within walking distance to just about everyhing you could want to see and do. The staff is extrememly helpful and when asked, even moved me to a room with a balcony. The bar is beautiful and comfortable and the music is great. There is even a nice sunny pation for which to relax and enjoy a drink. the hotel surpassed my expectations. And oh, most imporatant, a nice firm bed!

Very pleased with this choice of hotel in terms of location, decor, service, food, facilities. For the price it's very good value for money. The staff were extremely helpful from printing off train timetables, recommending where to eat, shop etc. Very helpful and polite staff without exception. My room could have done with a revamp but I was fortunate enough to get a good deal on Hotels.com so I didn't mind and didn't spend too much time in the room. Could do with some bigger curtains though that cover the entire window - that's my only criticism. As a lone female traveller I thought this hotel was perfectly comfortable, restful and safe place to stay. The bar area is a nice place to have a drink and read a book in the evening without hassle. I would certainly stay in this hotel again.

We stayed here two years ago and returned this May (2010). Hotel maintains a good standard of decor and cleanliness and, whilst our room was smaller than our last visit, it was still comfortable, clean and well presented. It's the small touches that make the difference, turning back the sheets in the evening, an excellent breakfast [Extra cost] (with bacon and eggs for the Brits). Attentive staff, pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Our tip is to get a room in the main building, the ones in the courtyard lack character and light.

The good news: comfortable bed and room clean, staff reasonably pleasant. Location very good. The bad news: claims to be an executive room were not met. Very small room. Also rather noisy. No guest book of information in room to help you in anyway. Overated and expensive.

Nice location, not right in the centre but a good location from the airport and everything close by to walk to. Nice pebble beaches and the old town was fab with it's flower market and cathedral ruins. Really nice place for a laid back holiday. Hotel was always clean and tidy and the staff friendly, only issue was that the executive room wasn't very executive, wonder what a standard room would look like! They did upgrade us to a suite though which was kind although not much different. Would go to a hotel on the sea front next time but would not shy away from staying at this hotel again either!

We booked an executive room at the Hotel Ellington, as we got 4 nights for the price of 3, we thought we'd treat ourselves to a good room. However, on arrival we were very disappointed with the room, whilst it was really clean, it was quite small, the bathroom being quite outdated and tiny. We went to reception and said we felt the room was wrong, apparently in France the rating of rooms is not for room size but quality of deco. The manager changed the room for us and we got a slightly smaller room but much bigger bathroom. He was very pleasant about it. The hotel itself is very clean and modern, great choice at breakfast and the staff were pleasant. I would go back but not pay any extra for an exec room!

Les demandes ne sont pas toujours suivies d'effet.Pas de wifi dans la chambre sinon à un prix exorbitant. Petit déj. à un prix exorbitant. Emplacement hôtel assez pratique. Porte de communication chambre/couloir peu isolante.

Hôtel bien placé pas très éloigné des transports et sites intéressants de la ville, très bon accueil et service de grande qualité...mais...les chambres sont un peu petites et auraient pu être rénovées vu le standing que cet hôtel semble afficher, dommage pour un 4 étoile....

Petit hotel avec du charme, très propre. Seul défaut un peu éloigné du centre de congrès (15-20 minutes à pied) et du centre touristique mais tramway proche.

Sehr schöne Außenfassade Historisches Gebäude (Gestapo-Sitz) Schöne Dekorationen Schräge Fußböden zur Hausmitte hin (etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber lustig, hat vermutlich/hoffentlich mit dem Alter des Hauses zu tun) Das Hotel Ellington zeigt zahlreiche Bilder aus der Jazz-Szene der USA, verfügt über schöne Aufenthaltsräumlichkeiten Bäder sind erneuerungsbedürftig (rosa Fliesen mit griechischen Gold-Schönheiten...)

Et dejligt hotel, god belliggenhed, hvor man hurtigt kommer ned til strandpromenaden og ligeledes til togstationen. Det var min første rejse til Nice, men forhåbentlig ikke den sidste og næste gang ville det være dejligt igen at bo på Hotel Ellington. Det eneste vi virkelig savnede var kaffe kapsler til kaffemaskinen, og det "glemte" de at fylde op hver dag selv om vi bad om det, så vi måtte drikke Nececafé.

Ein sehr schönes Gebäude mit sehr schönen Aufenthaltsräumen und Zimmern. Sehr sauber. Die Lage ist sehr gut und ruhig. Schade um das schöne Hotel... denn eine derart mieserable Hotelleitung die einen so schlechten und unpersönlichen Service zulässte ist wohl selten zu finden. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist für französische Verhältnisse ordentlich, aber auch dort sieht man die Lieblosigkeit die den gesamten Service des Hauses wiederspiegelt (alles und jedes ist verpackt). In diesem Hotel fühlt man sich nicht als Gast sondern als Belastung. Die Zimmer die wir hatten waren schön, aber ob es sich wirklich um die gebuchten "De-Luxe" Zimmer handelte ist fraglich.

Our room on 6th floor was very hot. We had to keep the window wide open all night, and that can mean a lot of street noise. Air conditioning was not working, we heard, since it was only end of April. I don't understand how air conditioning can be connected with calendar, and not with thermometer. In a 4-star hotel?

Hotel Ellington i Nice ligger godt ,centralt og alligevel i pænt og roligt kvarter. God service gode værelser med dejligt badeværelse. Fin daglig rengøring incl rene håndklæder dagligt. Og der blev gjort fint rent. Pænt morgenbord med god service. Et hotel vi kan anbefale ,hvis man er i den alder, hvor man ikke er en børne familie. Var dog besøgt af både unge og ældre.

Great staff, great location in the centre of Nice - close to shopping and the old town. However, the hotel needs a bit of a brush up - it doesn't feel fresh. The decoration is very dated and they still use the old fashion bedding: sheets with an old blanket on top (!). Until they freshen up, I wouldn't recommend the hotel, I'm afraid.

Hotellet var hyggeligt, med en rigtig fin gårdhave. Beliggenhed er rigtig god,.

Charmerende palæagtigt hotel beliggende ved en typisk fransk boulevard med træer på begge sider i et område med hverdagsliv. Venligt og hjælpsomt personale. Værelse med alle moderne bekvemmeligheder inkl. elkedel med tilhørende thebreve og kaffe. Morgenmadsrestaurant med velsmagende og meget velassorteret buffet. Vor udlegningsbil blev hentet og bragt af hotellets personale hver gang, vi kom hjem eller skulle ud at køre. Det gik hurtigt. Vi kan anbefale hotellet og vil bo der igen, når vi kommer til Nice.

acceuil parfait, situation parfaite par contre confort de la chambre coté rue pas digne d'un 4 ****. Simple vitrage et dès qu'une moto ou une voiture un peu bruyante passait j'étais révéillé.
