Great hotel for the value and location, less than 10 minutes walk from Las Ramblas, close to the metro. Staff is very nice but don't bother with asking for restaurant recommendations - they will send you to the most expensive ones. The breakfast is very nice, the rooms are great too. Would recommend to anyone and will stay there again in a heartbeat.

This hotel was good for accommodating a group of four guys, but there was no free breakfast which is a must for four guys; wifi was a pain to setup on phones and iPads - kept having to go to front desk for new pass codes. Close to subway stop which was good. The neighborhood is not great. Inconvenient to walk to main drag. Overall just average. Clean enough, but could have been cleaner

This hotel is rated 4 star but does not have all the facilities of a 4 star hotel like an on-site restaurant for evening meals and in-room coffee/tea facilities. Although the hotel is in the same complex as the Apolo Theatre which has a cafe/bar. However, there are plenty of good restuarants local to the hotel. Overall the hotel service was good, the room was modern, clean and comfortable. The hotel is in an ideal location for visiting the Ramblas, Port Vell, Montjuic, Barri Gothic, both the L'Example districs and if you are up for it and don't mind a good walk the Sagrada Familia. However, if walking is not your thing public transport is right on the doorstop of this hotel. Overall a great location for sight-seeing and goiod value.

Excellent hotel for tourists. But beds gave me a stiff back.

Decent hotel close to La Ramblas. I wont consider it a 4 star but it wasnt a bad hotel too. Breakfast was great though, I must say. I wont mind staying there again.

well situated, right outside a metro station and close walking distane to la ramble and harbour etc, pleasent staff that were more than willing to answer any questions about the area, as well as transport etc, very nice breakfast buffet and generaly clean and nice hotel to stay in!

The Tryp Apolo Barcelona is well located for most city sites as well as cruise ship departures and the Metro stop is on the same block. The staff was helpful and accomodating to our requests. We were 4 adults in a "family" room and it worked well (the two rooms had a dividing door). There were two chairs in the room but we didn't care because we were on the go most of the time. Free in-room wireless was great. The bathroom was clean and in good repair. The carpets were a little tired but we found it a great pre and post cruise value. We stayed 3 nites before the cruise and 1 nite before flying home and would definitely stay there again.

The room was somewhat moisy during early morning hours due to a nightclub right below our window. At second stay requested a room facing inner courtyard.

I stayed in the hotel for a week and it is in a perfect location just minutes (on foot) away from ra lamblas(10 min) and port(10 min). there is a great restaurant across the street called espanol with great food - the food we eat the whole week- in good prices. there is a taxi base and a bus stop as well as an underground stop just outside the hotel entrance. the hotel was very nice every day they cleaned our room the staff was nice too.. they don't really speak english but at the end you can communicate!!! I recommend it for sure not only because of its location but also for its price (good price for 7 nights). A nice hotel for everyone - couples, business trips, leisure ....

Fisrt trip to Barcelona and would recommend the Tryp Apolo. Its in a great location for ramblas and the main squares and shops and also for the harbour. They are all a few minutes stroll away. Pay around 25-30 Euros each way for a taxi from the airport. The surrounding area had plenty of bars and restaurants and was quite safe. The buffet breakfast was on half price offer when we stayed and is well worth it. Hotel staff very friendly and helpfull. Hotel is clean and rooms just what you should expect. Would go back

The internet is an outrageous 20 euros or so per day and you have to book a minimum of one day. A few of the hostels around the neighborhood will include internet and their rooms are 1/4th of the price!

we checked in 2 nights before a cruise. We had asked for a non smoking room which we got, there were 2 n/s rooms at the end of a long corridor with all smoking roodms which reaked. We got in quite late and neede to eat dinner, so we did not notice all the problems in the room. There were many stains on the chairs and the carpeting, the magnifying mirror in the bathroom was hanging by one screw, the light over the sink was out, toilet paper holder was broken, closet door was off track. there was no guide to tell you how to get enlish language channels on tv.We asked to have all these items fixed, unfortunately we didn't discover all of the at the same time, so it involved 3 trips by maintenance. I must say that when we called to report these things to the desk, they were immidiately responded to.OBVIOUSLY THE CLEANING STAFF HAD NOT REPORTED THEM. we asked the desk for a referral to a restaurant, they sent us to a place by taxi, $ 12.00, and $ 135.00 for dinner, incl. 2 glasses of wine, we later heard from other guests that they had been sent to nice local places. We then woke up in the middle of the night with severe food poisioning, which required a dr.s visit the next day.. We have travelled extensively in Europe and absolutely do not consider this a 4 star hotel and would not recommend it to other travellers. We could have asked for another room the next day but by then we were too sick to pack up and move. We are getting ready for a trip to Italy and are now concerned that the other reservations we have made and prepaid, won't be good choices. Price was ok for the hotel. Breakfast was vey good.

Stayed in TRYP Apollo for three nights, very nice staff, was very pleased with the location, only five minute walk to La Rambla. Only negative aspect would be the twin beds stuck together,

The location of the hotel was great-only a 10 minute walk or so to the action in Las Ramblas and other touristy sites. The hotel was clean, although a bit outdated as far as the rooms were concerned and the hallways, too. The lobby was modern and nice and decorated for the holidays. The only complaint I had was that they tried to sell me on their 10Euro breakfast buffet, which was apparently a deal as it's normally priced at 20Euro.

We enjoyed our stay at Tryp Apollo Hotel. Lovely, clean and comfortable hotel, well deserved 4 stars. Comfortable bed, was really impressed with the pillows, so comfortable and soft! Breakfast is a good quality, good choice, just maybe a little expensive. Location of the hotel was also good, just a few min walk to the beautiful port and La Rambla. Will definitely come back to this hotel, especially if will see a good offer on Hotels com!

Great place. Be sure to include breakfast in your reservation. There is a great choice and tons of food and you can even take a roll and some cheese for your lunch. Next to a subway stop. Be sure you keep your money and passport hidden. someone tried to pick my pocket as we were walking up the steps from the subway. She would have gotten some used kleenex and a stale roll--but it was an odd feeling.

The hotel charged a ridiculous amount per 24 hours for internet. In our booking we asked for a proper double bed, but got two separate beds. Not nice, since we were a couple on vacation. The location is all right, close to a metro station with two major lines.

TRYP is not a 4 stars hotel for us. The room is noisy and small. The placement of the furnitures didn't allow us to get to the other side of the bed. The water is hot and cold from time when taking a shower. Beware: there is no AC and Internet is not free. The website site indicated that is available but you have to pay for it. :) We don't recommend staying here!

Good hotel for the value, The only problems we had were the room was too hot because the air conditioning was not effective and the room overlooking the main street was noisey.

The hotel is ok but the ac no works in the hotel. I left the window opened and a busy night club is located under my window .

The Hotel was in an excellent location. The Desk Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Our only disappointment was the noise on the street waking us up any time after 1:00 am. until the wee hours of the morning.

Excellent location - clean & quiet (room in the back) Can walk to many attractions. Hotel recommended a restaurant - excellent - but expect to pay $100. euro per couple. Would stay there again.

Great location. Friendly staff. Spacious clean family room. Very good breakfast. Only downside was parking cost. Would highly recommend.

THE ROOM SMELLED, IT WAS DIRTY AND VERY OLD! THEY NEED NEW CARPET, PAINT, U NAME IT!!! WE COULD HEAR THE CARS AND PEOPLE ALL NIGHT! WHY... BECAUSE WE WERE NEXT TO A TOPPLESS CLUB! I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE!

Service was horrendous!!! And an FYI they turn the air off during this time of year so when it was 80 degrees out a lil over a week ago we had to suffer! This is like a motel in America....pictures are extremely deceiving!! Not on downtown closer to the port if ur going on a cruise..

Can walk to the many beautiful sights. There are also a lot of taxi if you prefer to ride.

I was very disappointed with this hotel. I had stayed with this group before and my experiences had been fine. But this hotel was run down, the front desk staff (two men at the time) were edgy, even aggressive with guests and I had to fight for everything. The third room they showed me was barely acceptable but not 4 star at all. And they made such a big complement of getting me this substandard room. They even tried to overcharge me for a phone call. Management made little effort to help me, except to apologise and not charge for the phone call. I would prefer not to have to be so negative in this review but that was my experience. Also it's in a rough area of Barcelona. Do not stay in this hotel - that is my advice.

This hotel was picked for its location, which is excellent- beside the metro and close to the city centre. It's a busy hotel, with rooms and facilities that were perfectly adequate and comfortable, without being remarkable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, but I found this out because I had several problems with the room that needed to be fixed: the doorchain was hanging off (!), the window catch broken, the electricity went off in the room while I was there. No major single issue, but still. A particular negative was the price of a WiFi connection in the room- it was additional to the room and the dearest I have encountered in Europe (17 euro for 24 h). For someone travelling for work, this was a significant addition to the cost and not what one would expect in a business hotel.

It was a nice stay overall and the hotel is comfortable. The only negative points were: Internet was not included and it cost a ridiculous amount of money per day, And you could hear people in the next room or at the street.

The hotel is located within walking distance to local transportation services. We were able to walk to pick up the On and Off buses, close to the habor and local sights. It was clean an comfortable and the staff was very helpful.

Good quality hotel, clean and staff were very helpful and friendly. Close to port wich was handy for that area. Wouldn't walk round the area too late at night on my own.

Clean hotel, metro right outside, helpful staff - we puchased tickets for both a FC Barcelona soccer game and Port Aventura at the reception desk which was very handy! Bar at the hotel is very quiet, lots of restaurants nearby. A pool would have been great, more of a business hotel, but we got a great deal so we didn't mind too much.

THE HOTEL IS CLOSE TO ALL EATING PLACES. CAN GET HOP IN BUS SERVICES ALSO. TAXIS ARE AVAILABLE EASILY. ROOMS ARE VERY CLEAN.

For the price, the hotel was fine. The service at the front desk was exceptional in terms of recommending restaurants, tours, directions, etc. The carpet in our room was dirty. It should be cleaned at the very least if not replaced. Also, it is not the best part of town. Probably next time I would stay closer to the upscale shopping district which is closer to many of the sights.

First, the good. The hotel is located 5 minutes from La Ramblas. The metro stop is right outside the door. The rooms are good. We got a good corner room with a view to about 5 streets. They helped us with additional toileteries. The bad. The desk service is really poor. All of them act as if they are doing a favour by serving us. It is unpleasant walking up to them to checkin or checkout. One of them had me follow him towards the luggage storage compartment while I carried all my luggage myself, then he made me wait there while he chatted with another clerk. When I asked what was happening, he told me to wait a moment. After a while, I asked again, and he rudely told me to wait, after which he proceeded to walk off, not to be seen again. The other clerk then helped me load my luggage, but gesticulated frantically while doing so, indicating that my bags were heavy (they were about 10 kilos only). He kept grunting ferociously, trying to make me feel like he's doing a huge favour. After which, he held his hand out for a tip. No way did he deserve one. Very poor desk service.

Perfect for business stay, and about 5 mins walk to las ramblas. The neighbourhood was abit scary, however i'm sure it was ok for a european city. No tea and coffee facilities in the room which was abit odd and the bathroom needed renovation. The customer service was bog standard. I would recommend this hotel though, because it is really close to everything and is value for money.

As is typical of many hotels in Spain and the med a 'double' room meant two single beds pushed together. Room was clean enough but with a bit of wear and tear. TV was all Spanish channels despite the fact that many of the guests were from outside of Spain. We were given brand new towels one day which hadn't been washed yet so we were covered in fluff and could barely dry ourselves with them. Good points: Good location, near to Montjuic, port and southern end of Las Ramblas. Front desk were polite and spoke good English. Breakfast was good with a wide choice and a very nice breakfast room, including an outdoor area.

This hotel was in an awesome location and very convenient, but we did have issues with bed bugs. First they allowed us to move rooms without any questions asked and then when we had problems that night as well, the management allowed us to move to one of their other properties. At the other property, we didn't have any issues with bed bugs. Parking is expensive if you plan to have a car and move it out of the lot daily - we turned our car into the rental car agency within hours of getting there, so it wasn't a problem.

Great value for the price. It is located in a very central location and is definitely a great hotel to stay in. Highly recommend it.
