Our stay was great until our last day 4/30/12 Monday morning there was no hot water. I told the front desk and was not offered any options. A free notes stay or offer to shower in another room would have been appreciated. There were many open rooms that nite so it could have easily been offered.

One of the worst overall hotels I have ever stayed in. Towels felt like sandpaper. The in-room refrigerator made a noise that sounded like an alarm clock and kept me up most of the night. I forgot my phone charger and was afraid it would die in the middle of the night and there was no alarm clock in the room. I asked for a wake-up call at 7:00 and it came at 7:27. It was a handicap accessible room and the shower-head was located chest high (I'm 5' 9" btw), was unable to be adjusted and there was very little water pressure. Breakfast options were pretty minimal.

We had a pretty good stay, and the price was right. However, my husband and I both have come down with colds on the same day and we are wondering if it is from the air conditioner in the room blowing directly on our heads while we were in the bed sleeping? Could be, could not be. Only God knows!

Although next to a busy interstate highway in a city when the door was closed the traffic sounds were gone.

For a hotel in the city in a very clean part of town The Days Inn Clive, Iowa is just fine for the price. I recommend it to my family while visting all the time.

Hotel had signs announcing renovations coming. It wasn't in bad shape, just needs some major maintenance. Room was really clean and comfortable. Disappointed with complementary breakfast. I've stayed at less expensive places with a wider selection of food items. Our family is gluten intolerant and usually there are corn flakes or rice cereal. The only items were peanut butter and apples. Good choices for restaurants in the area. Parking was somewhat limited and the elevator was extremely slow. Stairs to the second floor would be a better choice.

Clean, quiet and convenient. Good value for the price.

Room was clean enough but smelled a little old and musty.

We stayed at the Days Inn while visiting the Iowa deer classic downtown Des Moines. It was just a short drive on the highway to the events center and the price was much better than staying downtown. We also did some shopping and the location to several stores and the malls was great. We were very happy with this hotel for the price and will stay here again.

It is a nice hotel for the money. Nothing fancy and the TV was old. My room was clean and it was quiet at night. However the room itself was very small. Not an issue for me, but something to consider. I would stay there again.

we were dissapointed in the cleanliness of the hotel, service, and overall stay. we will not be back.

for the price, not a bad place to stay. The entrance sign is a little tough to see, but once you figure that out, no problem. Is it the Embassy Suites or Marriott? No, but it was half the price and the staff was friendly.

Right next to the interstate but did not hear any interstate noise. Great location and my room was clean and sanitary. The hotel is a bit dated but for the location & price of the room, everything was right. The hallway lighting could be better and the beds were a bit stiff, but I slept well. Staff was courteous and check in / out was a breeze. My second stay here and I have no problems staying again.

This hotel is an unbelievable hotel for the price.

We could not use our keys after 2 attempts of re- mag- nitizing them. We had to make 2 calls to the front desk for assistance with the heat so high like 92 degrees. So they gave us a new room which had a newer air/heat model in it which was nice but then there was an awful smell that lasted our whole stay. It did come w/ a continental breakfast. A big run a round w/keys,odor problem and ice on 1st floor only.Staff was polite about everything but too many inconviences. Sorry, cannot give a good reccommendation.

Service was fine and appreciated coffee in room, breakfast and wi-fi. However the room seemed old and could have been cleaner.

the general condtion of the room was good, except the bathroom. I went to take a shower and looked up and around on the walls.....the was mold growing on the ceiling and the walls around the shower. Mold doesnt just grow up there overnight, its been there awhile. The service at the front desk was awsome, I had some papers I needed printed, the clerk gave me her email address, and printed off the papers for me. She went above and beyond my expectations for that. Larry

We stayed overnight at this hotel on our way through Des Moines. Hotel was great. Got a free upgrade to a King size bed since the regular double bed wouldn't fit two people. The room was good. We had cold air coming out of the vents at us all night, but the next morning we found out if was self adjustable and the previous user put it on cold. Bed was a little firm for us, but overall the room was good. Hotel is located right off the highway and we had many choices for restaurants. Complimentary breakfast was good and the staff were nice and helpful, they even call you after you get into your room to see if the room is good. If I go through Des Moines again, I'll pick this hotel.

Our stay was great at the Days Inn Des Moines/West-Clive, Iowa. We got a really awesome deal on a 1 night stay through hotels.com. Probably the least expensive deal we have ever got for a decent room with a good continental breakfast to boot. The location was perfect for what we had on the agenda of meeting up with friends and family in our home town for Thanksgiving. When we arrived and checked in, the manager on duty even upgraded us to a king size bed! We wouldn't hesitate to log on to hotels.com again and also check the Days Inn availability the next time we need a room! Very satisfied!

Pets allowed but note that pet fee on site is *per pet*. Dirty cleaning cloth left in room. Milk left in mini fridge. No hot water in the morning. Staff informed of this in the morning did not bother to attempt to fix or refund anything. Not recommended.

The front desk workers were very courteous and friendly. I didn't expect a refrigerator in my room, but there was one, so that was a bonus! I was staying there for the night before running in the half marathon, and the motel is only 10 minutes away, so it was convenient, and didn't take long to get to the race. I would stay here again.

The good, inexpensive. Mini Fridge, free wifi. The bad, Small rooms, dated, outdoor pool has been shut down for quite a while, Hotel is in need of top to bottom renovation. Tattoo girl during night shift was helpful and nice.

Clean, economical hotel in safe neighborhood. Ice machine did not work. Not a luxury hotel, by any means, however adequate for a night's rest.

Everything about the hotel was just fine. The rooms were out dated but clean. The staff was nice. Very standard for a low nightly cost hotel. However, the beds were much like a sheet over a brick. The upholstered chairs were softer. At one point in the night after I realized my hip was almost bruised from laying on my side I seriously thought about sleeping in the car. Good thing the neighborhood was nice!

room smelled like smoke and animal urine, towels were small and rough, bedding was not clean. This hotel has never charged a fee for pets to stay, I was charged $15 this time.

My husband and I checked into the Days Inn and checked out immediately. We walked into our room and the first thing I inspected was the bathroom. There was rodent feces lining the permitter of the room. I immediately went to the front desk to report the issue. In the meantime as I was waiting for the lady to help a customer at the front desk my husband called me and told me there was a disgusting amount of mold on the doors. The lady at the front desk called a maintenance man to take a look. He walked into the bedroom area and then came back to the front desk stating that we were in a room that didn't allow pets (we had our dog Bailey, a golden retriever with us). This is after I had already signed an agreement at the front desk and paid the pet fee for our 2 night stay. After he made that statement I asked him if he had looked in the bathroom and he replied that he had not because he was so taken aback that we had an animal. (the woman that was checking in when I came to complain had a Mastiff by the way). I asked him to please look in the bathroom to confirm the feces that was there. So he did and came back and said that the people who had previously stayed in our room had a rabbit and that is why there were pellets on the floor. I had a rabbit for almost 3 years and I believe that it is common knowledge that rabbit waste is round. NOT pellet shaped. (and I know what food that comes in pellets looks like, it was not food) So basically the staff lies about pet policy and does not clean the rooms. It was absurd to say that we were wrong for having a dog in the room to take focus away from the problem at hand. MOLD on the DOORS! Ridiculous and unsanitary conditions. I took photos to document the conditions of this hotel, I wish I could upload them. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Worst experience I have ever had. Beds are horrible and breakfast was lacking.

I will not stay at this hotel again. The air kept turning off in the middle of the night and we would wake up sweating in our bed. I had to get up about 5 times to play with the air conditioner to get it to come back on. It was not a very restful night. In the morning, I complained when chekcing out. It was after 8:30 a.m. The girl at the desk could not help me or offer any solutions since the manager was not in. I asked her what time he came in and she laughed a little and said 8:00 a.m. I will be looking for a different hotel for my next trip to Des Moines.

Our stay was nice, hotel as at good location and staff is friendly.

the room was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly, but the pool was a cold and the hot tub was way too hot. the continental breakfast was pretty cheap, the coffee was very weak and the juice was watered down. the rolls were little debbies cut in half , although they did have waffels, so we went out to eat breakfast both days we were there. three of the games in the game room were out of order. It is however right in the middle of everything and easy access to the interstate.

I've stayed at this hotel several times but the one time my flight is cancelled and I can't get to Des Moines, this hotel would not refund my money. So much for thinking you really could get a refund using hotel.com.
