Excellent hotel with very friendly stuff !!

The Pelican is art deco with themed rooms. We stayed in the psychedelic Kate room. The room had a great powerful shower. The ceiling fan was circa 1955 and was too loud to use. But don't get me wrong, our room was comfy and quiet.Pro- the beach is across the street. Con- mediocer food. I would stay there again, it was fun.

was expecting a fun nite on south beach. hotel staff was completely unorganized, check in and check out took FOREVER. beds were rock hard. i couldnt sleep in them. we had a very small dog with us and they charged me 100 dollars for "cleaning". REALLY? the floors were hardwood, so no carpet cleaning. basically i was charged a hundred dollars to wash the sheets. were they NOT gonna wash them if there was no dog???? and the restaurant food was NOT good for the prices charged.

We've stayed at the Pelican Hotel four years running, and can't imagine staying anywhere else in South Beach. The staff is wonderful -- friendly and warm, and always ready to help; the location is fabulous -- right across the street from the beach, with chairs and towels provided; the neighborhood is fantastic; and the food at the Pelican Hotel is great. In the past, we've tried other more expensive hotels in South Beach, and while there are some great places, for value, comfort, quirkiness, and location, nothing beats the Pelican!

Staff were wonderful! Complimentary bottle of wine to eat at the restaurant was such a nice surprise. Food was great! Rooms were clean and super cool decor. Complimentary beach towels and chairs sealed the deal- ill definitely go back! Bed was kind of rock hard, but room was so quiet and comfortable otherwise!

Hotel has nice pictures of nice rooms on their website, however, we ended up in "nothing special" room. Room was small but clean. I expected more from this hotel for the premium price over its neighbors.

Ocean Drive is a crazy location in a crazy part of an already pretty crazy Miami Beach. It's an experience for sure, but having a nice hotel room surely helps to survive it. Pelican is it. The rooms are not big, but funky and unique. The beds are terrific. The staff are helpful. The most shocking thing is that in this mad part of town, the rooms are surprisingly quiet. Overall an unexpectedly good experience.

I saw this hotel on Food Network and immediately fell in love with the decor. I loved the concept of having each room decorated differently. We stayed in the Cubarean Island. The room was a little dark and the window we had faced an alley. They bathroom was large and had alot of character. I think next time I would pay a little more for the ocean rooms. The staff was excellent- we received 2 free drinks on arrival and had our parking validated right away-$20. There is no parking on the strip!. The next day had breakfast there which was good but however drink prices our high(which is apparently everywhere in Miami they also include a 17% tip with your order- so we ordered a moijito and beer was $30 so be aware) Overall loved the location and the feel of hotel!! Would definitely reccomend.

Location is great, but i wouldn't return to this hotel. The bed was not comfortable and there was a horrible smell in the hallways. Quite noisy because of the bar in the hotel. Some of our hotels smelled like smoke and were of terrible quality.

Boutique hotel with individually themed rooms. Not large rooms but location is right in the middle of Ocean's Drive so right in the thick of things. Room was facing back of hotel so was quiet at night. Bathroom was nice with artdeco details. Voucher for a cocktail at the bar was a nice touch.

Room was comfortable but small all rooms have different themes quiet, handy, good breakfast.

Our stay at the Pelican was wonderful. The people who work there were incredibly thoughtful and helpful. We will definitely stay there again if we make it back to Miami Beach.

8th and Ocean is the epicenter of South Beach and the Pelican is in the middle of it. The Hotel had that historic charm that caused the comfort rating to drop, mostly due to old utilities and lack of space; however the fun and convenience to all local activities was wonderful and part of the hotel's allure. The staff was accommodating and helpful. Actually living in the culture of Ocean Ave and the Beach is unlike any other hotel you would ever stay in.

At the heart of South Beach this hotel is in the perfect location to everything. Great atmosphere, excellent food and service. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Hotel decor has a uniqie style for each room, it's a really fun place to stay- highly recommend it

Great Hotel, plenty of character. Quirky. Staff top notch, couldn't do enough for us. Location was bang in the centre of everything that happened on Ocean Drive. Will definitely go back. Well recommended.

Swanky little boutique hotel directly accross from the beach on Ocean Drive. Welcoming, friendly staff. Great place to stay as a couple or with friends, not a family hotel.

Got more than I wanted from this hotel. Super location, right on the beach, free towel service and beach chairs (not umbrellas). What more could I want? Well, the meals were actually reasonable (late breakfast, dinner) and the staff bent over backwards for me/us. My brother came to visit so I needed a room with 2 beds. They had one available for the one night I needed it and allowed me to switch rooms for a night - hint, tip for maid service well-deserved! Try and get a back of building room if you don't want to hear the music that went until around 1am

This hotel is not for someone looking for a quiet area...... It's bang in the middle of all that is happening in South Beach! Yes sometimes the restaurant staff dont realise who you are and keep asking you if you want lunch etc... but thats the restaurant staff not the hotel! Room was well finished with free water plus 2 options for A/C great! My only issue was not with the hotel it was with Collins ave just 2 streets over where we were hassled by locals........ no beat cops on patrol that we could see over our 4 days there so that was worrying. All in all a lovely hotel in the middle of the action!

The hotel room was comfortable and clean; however, it was a little on the small side. Felt like being back in NY with a bed, a chair w/ottoman and a bathroom. Rooms shown online are rarely ever available to online shoppers. Appreciated the level of service by the hotel staff and management; however, shower's drain was clogged and bathroom fan/dehumidifier was broken. Maintenance staff only available between 8-5. Hotel going thru upgrades and when complete should be an all around good place to stay for the money.

I love quirky old hotels - this looked really cool. AWESOME Location, lots of bennies when you check in - free happy hour drinks (2), free bottle of wine with dinner, all the people watching you can handle. The rooms are smaller than they look on line. They have industrial fans mounted as ceiling fans - which i thought was super cool - until I turned it on and remebered just how obnoxiously LOUD those things are - No Way anyone could sleep with that on. Rooms are all decorated differently in a specific theme - none are the same - looks like a crazed Willie Wonka went on a manic yard sale hunt. Thought it was going to be really neat, and it was in a lot of ways BUT, it's a lil too Bohemian, "Look what I found at the Salvation Army Store" for me when traveling on biz - which is why I go to the Miami area. Mattress was super firm, lots o yummy pillows, The STAFF TOTALLY ROCKED!!! I have never been as impressed with a hotel staff - personable, accomodating, friendly, at ease.... Can't say enough.

Overall, the hotel was nice. The rooms (as I had read before) were kinda small but that describes any of the art deco type hotels on that part of Ocean Drive. The maid service was amazing.... I couldnt turn around without the towels being restocked. I also appreciated the free beach towels and beach chairs along with the reasonable umbrella rental. My one GIANT annoyance....and it was EVERY restaurant on Ocean Drive, not just the Pelican....was the constant harrassment asking you to eat at each restaurant while walking down the sidewalk. It was worse than the hooker card snappers in Vegas. My wife and I finally just gave up and had to walk on the other side of the street to escape it.

We stayed in this hotel after there was something wrong with our original location. Pelican is ideal if you want to be in the middle of everything in Miami Beach. The folks were friendly, service was great. The rooms are kind of small but that is ok being that when you go the point is to be in the beach and not the room. Food is great. I recommend the breakfast there. It’s cheap and you get your money’s worth when comparing to the surrounding places. Can’t wait to go again.

When I say I was pleasingly surprised....I was! The chic contemporary restaurant leading to the front desk was absolutely cozy. The front desk personnel, waiters and waitresses were very hospitable (as they should be). The rooms were just as quaint. Not terribly large but enough to change clothes, good sleeping beds and roomy bathrooms were enough to get you ready. With the hotel being directly centered in the "hottest" section of Ocean Drive, you can pick your choice for walking across the street to the beach, take in quick shopping down the street, listen to the contemporary music in the evening or just wine, dine at patio style restaurant (did I mention the menu of good food, breakfast also) and people watch. In other words, you don't have to leave the hotel to enjoy yourself.

Overall, great stay. In the heart of south beach, you can't go wrong with this hotel. The restaurant was very good as well and prices were very reasonable. Great place to people watch along Ocean Drive. The only down for me is that the room was small and the bathroom was as well.

Spent a weekend down on South Beach, and was the first time at the Pelican. One block from the news cafe (great brunch) and just short walk to some of the night life. What's cool, is because you're staying at the hotel you get a free soft lounge chair on the beach. The only thing I would change is the beds, were a little hard (not horrible). Staff is pretty nice and willing to help you with anything we needed.

it took them a long time to bring our vehicle from valet parking!! they have us a room that was being in used we had reservations for almost a week they didn't have our room which it turned out even better because they had to give us an upgrade. overall it was good since room was clean and good service. love that it is right on the spot for all the good nigthlife.

An all around AAA+++ hotel. Funky accomadations (we stayed at the "Las Vegas Room"). Fantastic service. Everything included (beach towels, lounge chair on the beach, beach umbrella, water in the fridge in the room, internet connection, and so much more). The hotel is direct on Ocean Drive and also has a wonderful restaurant with outside seating. The next time we are coming to South Beach will definitly stay here again.

Room was very small, view was awful(delivery alley) but the hotel was right accross from Luminus Park and Beach. Great weather made stay outstanding.

I throughly enjoyed my stay at the Pelican Hotel. It is nicely located and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were will kept up and everything worked. Would recommend it to anyone for a stay at the beach..

Nice and well renovated Hotel on South Beach. Close to all Miami Beach locations. Parking is extra: $22 for Valet. All in all a nice stay.

Absolutely worth the money! Location is great, Room was extremely clean, service was extremely good and athmosphere was extremely friendly.

Es un Hotel donde el personal, el restaurante y la comida son de 5 estrellas. La abitacion pero es de veras muy muy pequena, el colchon es comodo y la de atras bastante silenciosa pero de veras es muy incomoda. pecado porque todo funciona de maravila, el personal es super amable, el desayunoexcelente y la comida divina.

posizionato in ocean drive l'hotel e' giovane e informale. La nostra camera era enorme e con vista oceano. Ottimi anche anche il bar edd ilristorante.

Für uns gut gelegen, über die Strasse zum Strand. Im Dezember warm genug zum Baden, weniger Wind als sonst in dieser Jahreszeit in Florida. Der Ocean Drive bietet einiges, wenn man gern flaniert. Sehen und gesehen werden. Das Hotel, vor allem die Zimmer sind ungewöhnlich eingerichtet. Die spezielle Möblierung missfiel uns nicht, wenn sie auch nicht unbedingt zweckmässig war. Stil vor Funktionalität. Kleiner Abstellraum (wenn man so will begehbarer Schrank für Kleider, Koffer, inkl. Kühlschrank war uns willkommen. Das Zimmer aber eher klein, lärmige AC die direkt ins Bett bläst. Bad ok, ausgefallene Armaturen. Zusammengefasst eigentlich nicht übel, aber relativ teuer. Eher teuer auch das Restaurant und vor allem die Bar, wenn man denn nicht von der Happyhour oder dem Restaurant-Gutschein gebrauch macht. Wir würden wieder hingehen, aber vielleicht vorher die Zimmer auf der Webseite browsen und auswählen
