both of our rooms had major plumbing issue - water would take forever to go down. but we did like the recycling feature in the room.

We enjoyed the decor of the hotel - very modern,clean, great service! The location was great - a short walk to Little Italy and the pier area - excellent location if you are going on a cruise. The room had a balcony with a fantastic view of the harbor as well as downtown. We enjoyed our stay very much and wouldn't hesitate to go back!

It was great for our anniversary get away. Located in Little Italy with lots of restaurants nearby. Close to harbor, Gaslamp and Balboa Park. The only issue was that the (2) Full Size beds were small. I would make at least one a queen. We parked on the street. We were allowed to check in early got a room on the 16th floor with view from balcony. Nice lobby, Room was clean, large bathroom, loved getting the warm cookies at check in, good size flat screen TV, free wifi, large pool/spa area. Really nice would stay again for another weekend get away.

Hotel staff was nice. Carpet was new. Plumbing made very loud gurgling noises. Several electrical outlets were not secured to wall, or didn't work at all. Wireless was frustratingly slow. Doubletree should provide warning about parking structure with ramps too narrow for the Camry we rented. Convenient to expressway entrance, but not to stores and restaurants. All the one-way streets in the surrounding neighborhood make driving a challenge. Plan route ahead of time with a well-labeled map of the area.

Shuttle driver picked us up from the airport at 10 am and we still got warm chocolate chip cookies. Friendly staff & clean room but also loved being in the Little Italy area. Thanks, DT for a great stay!

Carpet looked new, and staff was friendly ... however, plumbing made extremely loud gurgling noises. Wireless moved at 2400 baud rate. Some of the electrical sockets pulled out from wall when removing power plug. Ramps in parking structure were 4 inches wider than the Camry we rented (many scrape-marks on walls). Most parking spaces were smaller than Camry. Not much in the way of restaurants and stores in the hotel vicinity. Most of it was at least 8 blocks away. It looked like a tired old building with new carpet. Tear it down and start over.

This hotel is not that close to the gaslamp, but it is close to the freeway, the train tracks, and the airport. If none of these noises bother you, you're golden with this hotel. Also, the walls are paper thin...

Very close to little Italy and water front. I happen to have a bad room where the tub had troubles draining, leaky faucet and the toilet spontaneously bubbled up out of the toilet. The management handled everything well and waved my parking and gave a complimentary breakfast.

I was so pleased when we showed up to this hotel! It was a great location with amazing views. The only thing that was not great about this hotel was the parking garage and the cost to park there for a night $22 ouch. The hotel itself was very nice and the rooms clean and very comfy. Plus getting warm cookies was a big plus.

This was a great location for me. They have a farmer's market on the north side of the building on Saturdays. It is wonderful. You ca get a locally roasted cup of coffee, fruit, pastries and mingle with the people in the neighborhood. It is walking distance to downtown but far enough away so you do not hear the crazy Saturday evening partying. The parking lot is slightly unnerving if you have a large car. My advice is if you are renting a car, just get a small one. I had a medium sized car and I jut needed to be a bit more careful than usual. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Diego.

My only issue was the parking.. Its so cramped and small.. I had a compact car and still had issues with it.

Had a room near the air conditioner and it sounded like a jet flying overhead constantly. Easily heard the people in the neighboring rooms. I cannot recommend this hotel.

Clean***, walking distance to historic gaslamp district, all SD attractions, $ 22 self- parking should have been complimentary.

Great hotel. My only complaint would be the parking. If you want to park in the hotel garage, twenty two dollars a day. Across the street, it is about eighteen dollars. You would think as a guest, they would give you free parking. Luckily, we were staying midweek and found parking right around the corner a few steps away from the lobby and didn't pay anything. I can imagine that it's much harder on a weekend. Very close to downtown, (1.6 miles) and a very nice place and the pool is heated and hot tub is great. Will be staying here again soon.

Right off the free way exit very convenient. It's right next to little Italy very nice small neighborhood with plenty of rest. To eat from.

I have stayed at this hotel before and this time it was not a good experience at all! We had to move rooms 3 times. The first room had a really funny odor, so we requested if we could move to another room. They switched us over to the next floor up and this room had a missing office chair and a handicap seat in the bathroom on the toliet and chair in the tub. Plus some stains in the room. So we called again and requested a third room. Finally the third room was good! We got a room with a balacony and were able to enjoy the city view. The only thing is that when we got to the 15th floor our rooms keys didn't work. So check in day was not pleasant at all! One last thing our check out date we had housekeeping walk right in our room with out knocking! Thank God we were dressed! And upon checking out they tried to charge us for parking when we never parked inside. The location is great. Rooms are decent, as far as customer service ... Well they tried to accommodate us. It was really unfortunate our experience wasn't as pleasant as the first time. I don't think I'll stay here again.

Stayed one night here with some girlfriends. Loved the modern decor, friendly staff and free yummy cookies at check in. It is literally a couple of blocks from the most authentic Italian food in Little Italy and just a few minutes off the freeway. The parking structure was a little tight for our small sedan, but normally priced ($22 overnight with in and out privileges). I would stay here again.

Great hotel & location!We were able to walk to Little Italy, Gaslamp district, & the waterfront very easily. Loved the pool area & fitness center. Awesome hotel!!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Double Tree Hotel in San Diego and were pleasantly surprised with our stay. We found the location within walking distance of Little Italy and the harbour front. The room was clean and more than big enough for two. The staff were all friendly and very helpful with information about places of interest to see. would stay there again.

The hotel was nice, and the service was good. But, this hotel is right next to the intersection of 2 of SoCals major highways. And you know, because this is Cali, the cars never stop. Oh, and your room is so close to the landing pattern of SD airport, you can read the tire pressure ratings on the landing gear. I was up all night with the VERY noisy surrounding. And they charged me WAY TOO MUCH to park in their garage! Not cool.

For a weekend in Little Italy, this hotel is a fine choice. The rooms are a good value. It is a one-block walk to the Saturday morning Farmers market, and a couple more blocks to great restaurants. A dog park is right next door. The neighborhood is an interesting mix of 100-year-old houses and new upscale condos and apartments.

The hotel was in a great location! Close to Little Italy, The Harbor, and The Gaslamp Quarter. The room was comfortable with a great view of flights landing at Lindbergh airport. Our only complaint was the narrow parking garage. We were warned in other reviews but experienced 1st hand how narrow it really was. When exiting the ramp was so narrow we had an accident causing noticeable damage to a rental car. Other than that, a great stay!

The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood. The hotel bed, however, was too soft and sunken in. The bathroom was a bit old and whoever did the remodeling didn't do a good cosmetic job. Overall, convenient location, mediocre rooms. But, free chocolate chip cookies!

Stayed pre and post January cruise. Walkable to all wonderful neighborhoods, especially Little Italy. Don't miss Saturday markets 2 blocks from hotel. Views of Pacific, nice pool and gym and lobby. Room well equipped with free wifi,coffee, flats screen and a/c. Quiet area, free shuttle to/from airport and $10 taxi to pier. Really happy And plan to return again!

My family and I tried out this hotel January 27, 2012. It was ok. I was expecting a different look from doubletree. I was disappointed that we had to pay a very high parking fee. Be sure to check these rates at the hotel website so you aren't surprised. We have four of us booked in the room but they only gave 2 cookies which turned in to a bit of a fight with the children. We did receive an upgrade upon my request to a balcony and was expecting a great room, but was very disappointed when I step on the a very small, dirty concrete balcony with no chairs that overlooked the freeway. The service was very pleasant and assistive.

We stayed here over a weekend while visiting family attending a nearby convention. We found the location to be convenient to the convention area and gaslamp district as well as the zoo. The room was average size and comfortable, but we found staying on the top floor (22nd) often created a long trip as the elevators stopped at multiple floors on every trip. Parking there is a disaster with a non conforming parking garage that cannot be simply navigated. Lanes, exits and entrances are extremely narrow for average sized cars. I wouldn't consider parking there with a large car. Also, we had to wait a few minutes to get into the garage every time.

Good location but disappointed in condition of hotel. It felt in need of updating and refurbishing...a bit shabby currently. Parking both expensive and difficult.....NARROW passageways and inadequate space in garage for $22 a day!

It met all my expectations. The room was clean. The staff was courteous. The price was reasonable. The surroundings were quiet. Parking ramps are narrow, so you need to be extra careful. It was just off the freeway offramp. However, these complaints are trivial, since it was very convenient to where I wanted to go. I do plan on staying there again.

great place. amazing view. very close to downtown. Only had a problem with the parking lot, its INCREDIBLY CRAMPED and since most of the streets around there are one way its a little difficult finding your way in if you're not coming right off the freeway. other than that. Spectacular.

Pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Nice,clean rooms. Close to gaslamp area--a short hike to Little Italy. The pool was small but clean and the hot tub was fine. staff were very friendly and helpful. I would go back again.

I really enjoyed my December stay at Doubletree! The pool and hot tub were my favorite part of the experience =)
