Howard Johnson Inn La Crosse/I-90 - لا كروس

Our room was clean and quiet, the staff were friendly, good WiFi connection, bed was comfortable. Continental breakfast was adequate: fruit, hard boiled eggs, 2 choices of cold cereal, English muffins and toast, juice & coffee. I did notice some wallpaper peeling away from the wall in the bathroom.

Friendly stuff, but breakfast was't anything special. Room was clean but dated.

We reserved a king room on Hotels.com - when I got there to check in they said they were currently out of king rooms - I replied that I paid extra for the king bed - and what were they going to do for giving my reserved room to someone else? They then put me in a room that they said was a king (was actually a double bed) that I was handed pillow cases for the bed that I had to put on myself, they removed the dirty towels (said the room had only been used for the hot tub, I don't even want to KNOW what that was about) and handed a bag for the garbage that he emptied when we walked into the room. If I reserve a room with a king size bed, I should get what I paid for.

its fine for a one or two night stay very affordable

Was a perfectly suitable room, disappointed that it smelt like cigarettes though.

We were in town for a quick visit to see our son who is a student at UW-LAX. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast had everything we could have wanted. The breakfast area was well maintained. Our room had everything we needed...microwave, coffee pot and fridge. The price could not be beaten. We will definetly return.

Wifi is weak

Friendly staff, even with an 11pm arrival! Pretty good breakfast offerings too!

STay was good, but the first room we were booked in wasn't cleaned. So we got another no problem.

A good place to stay on a weeknight in the fall. Easy in and out.

The Howard Johnson's is located close to the major highways. The nearby La Crosse Family restaurant provides fast, delicious meals that are reasonably priced. The staff at HoJo's are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning is decent. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. Although this is not a "four star" hotel, for the price, this is a great deal! This is the only hotel I stay at when I am in La Crosse.

This property is conveniently located a short distance from the highway and easy to find. It's an older hotel but the rooms have been upgraded to provide for basic needs. The desk staff could use a little customer service training. I was told that my room would be ready in an hour. Almost two hours later I was still waiting and never received an apology from anyone. I had a better experience at the Settle Inn, a few doors down the street.

This is a fine no frills place to stay. It is an older but clean place to stay near the highway.

Located on outskirts of town along with other hotels in a fairly safe looking neighborhood on busy roadway. Secure building with card key entry. My queen non smoking room was fine and about average size, air conditioner worked well as did everything else. Some restaurants and gas stations closeby and easy walk to the river. About 5-7 minute drive to an historic downtown with lots of restaurant choices, beer places, nice tourist office with map for self guided walking tour. Trolly narrated tour also available.

The hotel was conveniently located. Getting in the second floor access door with luggage and key card was a bit of a challenge, not much room on the landing. The room while generally clean, smelled strongly of stale old cigarette smoke.

The staff was very responsive and kind, but the walls were paper thin and the entire hotel smelled of smoke. They couldn't get the smoke smell out of the walls. It needs a complete renovation. The price was very competitive though. You do get what you pay for.

Very clean and cozy. Nice size room for 1 person.

Mattress super hard wife had hard time sleeping on it.

While the room was small and the bathroom tiny, it was very clean. Our biggist problem was the thin walls between the room. We were wakened by the couple in the next unit arguing-Very Loudly-all night. We will not stay here again

Hotel was clean and staff was nice. The walls were thin, but I didn't have loud people near me so it was fine. You can't beat the price.

Nice hotel. Clean. However,Bed was like sleeping on a cement block. Could not sleep at all. Left early in a.m.

There were visitors in other rooms that were very noisy and other people who kept pounding on our door throughout the night so I didn't get much sleep. The fitness room was small with only a stationary bike and one other machine. If you are just looking for a room and can sleep through noise, this is the place for you. The staff was very pleasant.

clean room: but our room wasn't ready when we got there and then they gave us a room that was occupied and that was embarassing. we had to go back to desk and get another room. lot of dogs in room and barking we only needed a room for the night so it worked out o.k. but wont stay again.

We stayed for three nights at the Howard Johnson La Crosse in July 2011. The hotel staff was courteous and gave my room keys by just telling him my name, not having to show any identification. I was a little put off by not having to show an ID as I could have been a friend or just happened to know I was staying at the hotel, and get a key. In addition, one of my friends who was not listed as someone on my reservation was able to get a key at 4 in the morning by just saying my name at the front desk. This one was extremely strange in my opinion. I would think the front desk staff would have called or required some form of verification that she was to be let into my room. Our room was fairly clean with only a few things left behind by past guests--we found a coffee cup behind the bed and some crumbs next to the bed, but everything else was pretty clean. Additionally, I don't know if we had no guests next door to us or not, but when we were in our room we did not hear any other hotel guests, and everything was fairly quiet. There was free breakfast downstairs from 6 to 9 on weekdays and 7-10 on weekends, which was adequate. It was your standard continental breakfast food--bagels, english muffin, prepackaged danishes, hard boiled eggs, juice and coffee, and cold cereal. The food was totally fine for my tastes. The staff was very friendly, cleaning, food, front desk. Even though we had that strange issue with the trusting front desk staff giving out keys, I would recommend this hotel...it's very affordable and convenient to everything in the area, including highway.

Hotel initially tried to change our reservation from a king size bed to two doubles. They allow pets in the rooms. Breakfast area is too small for the number of guests. A/C, beds, bathroom were all in good condition. Had a good night sleep. Rooms are small. Good for a overnight stay, but not a week.

The Howard Johnson was a good bargain. It's an older building. Good selection with television channels. Breakfast was good, The staff was very friendly. Not a five star hotel,but worth the money.

Found bloody dried booger on tv stand! A/C as loud as jet engine. Drywall warped from water damage, idiots wallpapered over damage, probably covering mold. Room smelled like toilet.

For a cheap hotel this was great. I had no issues, staff was friendly, rooms were quiet and clean.

Looking for a budget hotel with some amenities...this would be it. Front desk personnel were outstanding, but the hotel itself was very run-down. Rooms and beds are small, but so is the price.

Nice enough place to stay and inexpensive, continental breakfast has a few choices, the french toast was good. Room was fine overall clean, it was sold as non smoking but under the spray they use to freshen the room which was quite strong you could just catch a hint of cigarettes, but you can't control your customers! Only thing that was dissapointing was the mattress, hard as a rock.
