Great overall - classic older boutique hotel

We thought this was a good place for our overnight get-a-way. We asked for a coffee pot in our room, and it was in our room when we returned in the afternoon. However, we did request a newspaper to be delivered to our room in the morning to read with our coffee (the sign in the lobby said to request a paper), but no paper arrived. Valet parking worked well, and was less expensive than some of the other hotels.

My girlfriend and I had a very positive experience at the Warwick San Francisco recently. While our room was a bit on the small side, it was very comfortable and clean, and the hotel service was quite good. The hotel is just two blocks from Union Square and other major spots in the city, and provides valet parking if you have a car. A good choice at a reasonable cost!

The hotel is in a great location just outside of Union Square. There is outstanding shopping and dining within walking distance. The only thing I didn't like is that I had to pay for wifi. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The whole experience was a positive one overall. I would stay there again.

I recently booked a night at the Warwick Hotel in SF and would recommend to others. While not fancy, the room rate was great, the room was clean and comfortable and the service was good. It is just a couple of blocks off Union Square, close to restaurants, fairly quiet and, for smokers, includes smoking rooms, a real rarity in the city (not a smoker myself, but for those who are, it can be important).

The room was clean, the staff was fantastic, and the location was perfect for where I wanted to go. But the decorations, while I think were meant to look lavish, looked old fashioned and eclectic (and not really in a good way). Also, and this is the biggest thing...the room was tiny. I've stayed at a number of other San Francisco boutique hotels and small rooms are the norm, two people trying to get ready in this room meant constantly trying to stay out of the other's way because there was scarcely enough open floorspace to pass each other. The room was billed as a Queen size bed, but it really, really seemed more like a full size bed. The hotel's website lists the room size for the standard queen size room as 165 sq. feet.

Service was excellent. Room was clean, cute and cozy. I didnt sleep well because this hotel allows smoking and since its old you can smell smoke. There is an over head fan that saved me. You can hear your neighbors and everyone get up early in the morning. I had an excellent breakfast in bed that made up for the noise and smoke.

Booked early in the morning with check in later the same day. Tryed to check in at 7pm, the desk person didn't have confirmation from Hotels.com yet, or so they said. After 20min of waiting in the lobby, I had them make some kind of decision, I even gave them my confirmation email showing I'd already paid for the room. The desk person was upset with me (I was being very firm with him) gave me a room. Went to the floor and found it was next to the elevator which was noisy in the room. I went back to the desk and asked for another room. The lobby was full of guests trying to check in. He finally did the right thing and upgraded me to a suite. My guess is that he either didn't want the other guests to hear what a buffoon he was being or got an earfull from the manager after I'd left. The suite was beautiful. The restaurant staff was great as the room came with a free breakfast. We stayed on Chinese New Years parade night, and the street closures made getting to the hotel very difficult. But if you check in early, you will have a great time.

We liked this hotel. The location was perfect for us as we had a party to attend just two blocks away at 620 Jones. The staff were great and very helpful. We would stay here again.

We were suppose to have a suite and it turned to be a standard Queen.

Beautifly decorated, with very comfortable beds. I loved the location and would stay here again.

Although I'd reserved a non-smoking room, I was forced to spend the first night in a smoking room. It was one of the worst hotel room experiences I've had a in a long time--woke up with burning eyes and a sore throat.

Lovely hotel very near Union Square in San Francisco. The room was great - it wasn't large, but very clean, comfy, and decorated very nicely. The front desk personnel were great. We checked out at 11:00 a.m., but were able to leave our car in their hands until 4:00 p.m. (24 hours). We got hung up at Fisherman's Wharf, and we were going to be late picking up the car (by about 90 or so minutes). We were afraid they were going to charge us, but they were great - they said no problem to pick up the car a bit late. My only complaint / suggestion would be that it would be nice to have a small coffee maker in the room. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Lovely restored hotel, elegant furnishings, pipes a bit noisy, and although the fine bed linens were appreciated, by the end of the stay I missed a fitted bottom sheet that would stay in place. Overall quite comfortable, and very well located. The resturant was a hit with us, and although there are many fine choices nearby we choose to eat there twice.

The hotel is so convenient to Union Square and bart. If you want a great hotel close to The Powell station and Union Square you will not be disappointed.

The Hotel has a great restaurant and the local theaters are across the street. It is 2 blocks from Westfield Shopping Mall. I had the 1 bedroom Suite and it was perfect for 3 people. Staff courteous and helpful.

Nice hotel right near union Square. We enjoyed everything! Comfortable but headboard clattered wall.

My spouse and I spent 5 days at the Warwick, combining business (convention) and pleasure. This older hotel has a very nice ambiance inside, and polite and attentive staff. We had to move our room away from Geary St., because it was too noisy--the staff honored this request right away. Dirt and sound came through the windows, which are in need of an upgrade. The neighborhood is sketchy, with a strong cohort of homeless people as found throughout Union Square, but seemingly safe. Overall we did enjoy our stay of 5 days there, especially for the proximity to things we wanted to do, to the Moscone Convention Center, shopping, and to the incomparable Millenium Restaurant.

A good value on a well located hotel. Small but adequate room; pleasant. We enjoyed the restaurant for dinner -- good food and quiet. Breakfast, however, was a disappointment.

The Warwick is a charming alternative to the large hotels around Union Square. The decor is lovely and you can often get great deals. Very friendly staff, and the restaurant downstairs does a nice breakfast. If I want to be in the middle of town, I always check out the Warwick prices and availability.

Great location. Nice room decor. Bed. . .Ok. Very noisy streets. Room also noisy, the waterpipes howl. Nothing that ear plugs cant handle. (bring them) . Otherwise, clean and comfortable. Amenities not impressive..

The Warwick is a perfect location for exploring SF without a car. Not far from the Powell ST. BART station, Geary St. is before the streets start getting steep. The hotel is close to shopping Union Square, China town, the theaters, restaurants and the cable car. The staff was extremely helpful. We were able to drop our bags in our room at 11 am and start our shopping spree.

Room was nice considering a 1906 building, bathroom was updated with marble floors and tiles in the tub/shower. Small, but very clean. Room was a good size, held a 4-poster bed, writing table, end table with two chairs, two night stands and a wardrobe (no built in closet in the room). We had a corner room (#308) and while it had windows on two walls, and was on the 3rd floor, it was surprisingly quiet. Staff was very friendly and seemed eager to help. I would definitely recommend

Location was fantastic, Hotel decor is a little dated but a better area can't be found. Walking distance to Union Square.

While the room I stayed in was small, for the price it was very understandable. Great convenient location and clean room. I would go back again.

This is a great hotel if you're trying to save some cash on the room and save it instead for the sights and food. The staff is great, especially Mackenzie, she went out of her way to allow me to check in early, and change into a two bedroom non smoking, she rocks! I would note, if you're planning on spending your time inside the hotel, I wouldn't stay here. The cons of this hotel are the small rooms, no A/C and no fan in the bathroom. It really depends on what you value and what your trip is for.

As a retired airline pilot who has traveled the world and still does I have never been so offended on a stay. Order up the room on line and then be told two bucks for a cup of coffee at breakfast time and ten bucks for what you call breakfast...ridiculous. No ice unless you wAnt to pay the bellman, $92 bucks for two nights parking, no newspaper. I can do better anywhere else and will in the future.

Lovely old SF feel. No air conditioning. Would not want to stay there in the summer.

The room we stayed in was tiny! the mattress was not comfortable at all, and I would guess well over 10 years old. The bathroom didn't have a fan in it. There was a disgusting amount of dust on the fire sprinklers on the ceiling. Location is great and the people who work there are nice.
