We stayed here last year, great room. This year- dirty paint peeling carpet stains icky bedding...I asked for a better room and it was much better, not a s nice as last year but better and clean. All the apartments are different so it's a roll of the dice. Staff is great. New york times delivery at door option is Wonderful!! Great spot to go everywhere.

We had a great visit setting all of NYC and The Lombardy location was a good home base location.Much to see even in walking distance. I would stay Rhett again.

Very pleased with the stay. Nice staff (even had an elevator operator). Very European feel to the rooms (lots of marble). Very quiet. Great, safe neighborhood. Room was clean. Only one negative, the closet was filled with used paint cans and work equip. Sure it was an oversight and would have been removed if asked. We were just staying the night so we didn't bother. Would stay here again for sure.

The room was a bit of a flashback, the wall coverings were floral and padded, the light fixtures all had fringe, your grandmother will love it. Overall, it was fine, the room was large, I had a small kitchen with plates, utensils and a large sitting area, the shower was hot and strong, nice to have a large closet with more than 6 hangers in it, my room had a poor view, I'm not sure about any other. Lobby was undergoing some renovation, but it was hardly noticeable other than the complimentary breakfast I never use being elsewhere. The staff was very pleasant and professional, the manned elevator was nice. I'd rate it 3.5 stars. It' s a good location for me, right off park, price was good, it's kind of anti-boutique, it's large and old school, like prune juice and canasta old school. It's not a bad thing, just a bit shocking when you check into the room and see the decor. It would work well for an extended stay.

It was excellent. We will certainly stay there when next in New York.

The biggest negative was that they did not have room service. They had relationships with vendors that woudl deliver to your room, but you wouldn't get room service set up in terms of delivery and end up just getting plastic wear and paper napkins. Unfortunate for being such an expensive/nice hotel.

At the risk of repeating, this is not a standard hotel but a building of high-quality condos that are rented out when the owners don't need them. They all have full but small kitchens. The establishment has all the standard hotel amenities, except a lobby lounge temporarily (see below). Our main concern when staying at hotel in a big city is noise. This place is extremely QUIET and actually restful. We had a King Suite that was very spacious and well-appointed, especially the bathroom. The staff were gracious and responsive; housekeeping was great. This is a high-class place all around. The neighborhood is reputable (between Park and Lexington, not far from Central Park) and quiet (by NYC standards). Why would one stay in a standard hotel in the Times Square area when you can stay here for a similar price? The Italian restaurant across the street is excellent. The lobby is under construction (behind a wall; we never heard any noise), so there is no lobby lounge at present, but we didn't care about that. Parking is less expensive than typical for good quality NYC hotels. A gem.

We stayed here at the beginning of the April 2012 and were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a suite...absolutely brilliant, our own little apartment in midtown NYC. This is a really great location, well proportioned apartments, friendly staff.

The only reason for the four on maintenance is that they are in the middle of renovations. The four for comfort is because my room faced the street and the windows are not well insulated, hence lots of noise especially at 3 AM when the garbage trucks come around. Each room has a kitchenette which is a great convenience if you are self-sufficient enough to run down to D'Ags and pick up some groceries.. There is no on-site restaurant, but you can order in from outside. They do offer a continental breakfast, but the bistro was under renovation and so they sent one out with a $5 coupon to a coffee shop a block and a half away.

An interesting classic NYC hotel, which has condominium owners on upper floors and the lower floors are hotel room suites with small kitchenettes. Excellent and helpful staff, extremely safe and convenient neighborhood. Lobby currently under construction. No food services in hotel, but numerous restaurants at all price ranges immediately nearby. Close to subways and major taxi streets. Rooms very quiet except heating system....which is old and creaks. All in all, a great deal in a perfect location.

We were satiswied with the hotel in general with one long minus. When we chose hotel one of the main facts was a breakfast. Lombardy told they had breakfast in the hotel. It was a 5 $ voucher to a small restaurant a block away from the hotel. And they served with that money buns and croissants covered with plastic folio and a terrible coffee. You could order also eggs, fruits etc, but you had to pay the difference to 5$,plus tax and service.

Overall comfortable. Kitchen handy, room huge. Peeling paint in tub surround and three plus exhaust fans below our room window, 306, robbed us of a nights sleep until we got used to the noise. Hotel apparently too full to be moved. Would stay again in a different section of the hotel.

My (now)husband and I reserved four rooms for ourselves and out-of-town family for our wedding weekend. We and all family members couldn't have been more pleased with our stay. We had several different room sizes-- the 1BR suite was AMAZING for a group of three. It was big enough for our group to hang out and chat in the living room between destinations. We all loved having kitchens, dishes, utensils so we could snack in-room. Service was outstanding-- helpful front desk and doormen, and attentive housekeeping. And the prices were the best I found for the size, amenities, location. We live in NYC, so we're familiar with our options. The lobby/bistro renovations were neatly contained and not a problem-- all enjoyed the breakfast voucher for a nearby restaurant. Will recommend the Lombardy to all visitors! And would love to move in, since the suites are bigger than our whole NYC apartment : )

The Lombardy has apartment-style rooms that have been recently renovated. The bathroom and kitchenette were very well appointed and nicely decorated. Love the big closet and separate bedroom with large living room and two LCD tvs. My only complaint was that I had ordered a room with two queen sized beds. When we checked in I was informed that we had been "upgraded" to a larger room. The king-sized bed in a separate room was nice, but my friend ended up having to sleep on a very uncomfortable pull-out sofa in the living room. I know she didn't sleep well. So as long as you don't have to use the sleeper sofas, the Lombardy is a great place to stay.

We were happy to have a balcony off our room. The only down fall was that the hotel rents some of the rooms as apartments and the person next door had a barking dog (barked during the night). The room was very spacious and comfortable. Strange the hotel does not supply coffee but give you a coffee pot in the room. Overall, I would stay here again!

My family and I had a fantastic experience at the Lombardy. We had booked two rooms (Deluxe King Room and One Bedroom King Suite) but upon checking in we had been upgraded to Suites for both. We found the rooms to be very spacious. All the staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. It was also a very short walk to 5th Ave and Central Park. The only shortcoming was we could not order Pay-per-view movies. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

This was the best hotel stay we have had in several years in New York. Everything is central to the hotel, and the staff is very attentive. Highly Recommended!

We LOVED this hotel. Very quiet. Huge rooms. Very nice staff. However, the hotel is currently under construction and they have no kitchen. We couldn't even get a cup of tea or coffee.

We loved the location and the large rooms. Can't wait to go back once the lobby and bistro remodel is completed.

It is my understanding from speaking with the staff that this was once a fine residential hotel. Now it is mostly a co-op hotel where “shareholders” own the individual rooms and decorate them to their liking. They all come with a little kitchenette complete with small frig, microwave, coffee maker and hair blow dryer. The hotel supplies the sheets, towels, toiletries and housekeeping. I had never heard of this place before booking four rooms here for a family get together. Each room was very unique in their own way and one was more beautiful than the next. I found the rooms to be very large, very clean, very comfortable and quiet. I love that they double sheet the beds – a big thing for me with hotels. It is in a great mid-town location. I highly recommend it and look forward to my next visit.

Ideal location for work, free wifi made life simple. Large clean room, that was quiet. No complaints.

Reasonable costs, great location, excellent staff large clean well appointed rooms. What's not to like. Would return here without a second thought.

My wife and I used the Lombardy for the second leg of our two night visit to NYC. It was our first time here, and, let me tell you, we were amazed. The place is extremely elegant and we were upgraded to a standard suite when we arrived--The room was incredibly huge, with one of the best showers I have ever used. The kitchen facility was fully equipped and stocked with silverware, dishes etc--and not cheap stuff,either. The bed was extremely comfortable, and this was really more of a small apartment than a typical "suite--especially for the incredibly low price we got the room for. We are planning our Christmas journey into NYC for this coming December already and hope to be able to secure this exact suite for us and our two daughters--there was way more than enough room for us all to fit very comfortably. The staff was attentive, professional and very pleasant. We will DEFINITELY return!!!

Very convenient, reasonably priced and well located.

Feels a bit like a senior citizen home in the lobby. The service is odd; feels like it's being held captive by unions. Comfortable and quiet and accommodating of some last minute booking changes.

This is a well located midtown hotel between Park and Lexington Avenues. There is no "scene". It is understated , safe , and consistent.

We had an enjoyable night at the Lombardy. The staff was helpful,courteous and professional. Some previous guests had complained about the breakfast ,however, we found it quite adequate and a pleasant surpise bonus for a NYC hotel.

Good value for a clean, spacious and quiet residence hotel in midtown east. Valet parking was convenient and cheap! Free in-room internet and small kitchen were both very useful. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure for showering. Bring your own breakfast and use the coffee maker in the room if you are not up for an early run to one of the myriad Starbucks in the area, because the continental breakfast consisted of weak coffee and (seemingly) day-old pastries. We can't complain though, because it was complementary--a rare commodity in a Manhattan hotel.

We got a king deluxe suite for the day before and day of our wedding, and it was perfect for the bride to have her bachelorette party with her friends, plus all our friends to come over after the reception. We brought our own Karaoke system and were able to have a nice musical party without disturbing others. The decor in the lobby is luxurious, and our room was comfortable-eclectic. The front desk was very helpful when we were desperately seeking pizza 11pm New Year's Eve, bringing up a menu to us. We live in Manhattan, and would stay here again for a treat!

My room was clean and tidy, however the bathroom had a used soap bar in the tub as well as a shampoo bottle opened and spilled out on the ledge. Shower had obviously not been cleaned. Eww...

Again, I love this place and hate to say it. It's a gem on the upper east side, a bit tired but it has elevator operators for jeez sakes!!! How do you not love that? And big rooms and for me, I will put up with a little tired-ness. every time!!! Go and see for yourself...it's fantastic

The bedroom was larger than expected with a mini kitchen. Simple and clean. Needs some update which doesn't take away from the overall quality of the room.

Everything was great except the "continental breakfast" which consisted of coffee or tea in a styrofoam cup and a couple bread choices. We asked the attendant if there were any real cups, but he was too distracted with his phone. We skipped it after that.

We have stayed in the Lombardy several times and each time have an excellent room, friendly service and so convenient for shopping, restaurants and theatre. I highly recommend it. We do always request a back room just because we love super quiet rooms.

You might call this hotel genteel. HIgh service levels although housekeeping person on my floor was unduly aggressive about wanting to get into the room to clean at an oddly early hour. (Housekeeping also left food from previous occupant in the mini-fridge. Yuck.) Main problem is general shabbiness of facilities. Worn, outdated, in need of replacement more than fixing. Decor and fixtures are stuck in the '40s and '50s. Many occupants seem to be out of town owners who come for long stays. Wonder if their units are as down at the heels as mine was.

I want to send a fabulous review of the staff at the Lombardy. The personal service is impeccable. I left my cell phone in the cab at arriving and they could not have been more helpful, even running to meet me at the phone store to let me know they had contacted the cabbie! Go Albert! The rooms are more like apartments, and VERY quiet.It is not the place to be trendy, but a place where you can take your Mom, which is what this trip was for me. It is conveniently located to the best shopping, subway access, and great restaurants. Such a nice area of town. It is an older hotel with all the class and attention that comes with it.

I stayed at The Lombardy for a few nights at the end of September 2011 and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The location is great with tons of restaurants nearby as well as easy subway access. As other reviewers have mentioned, the rooms are HUGE. I had the Deluxe King and it was as big as an apartment. It had a large dining room table with chairs, walk in closet and a kitchenette with a nice little frig, microwave, coffee maker and even dishes, cups and silverware. The bed was large and comfy. The decor is fairly dated...it looked a bit like my elderly grandmother's apartment. But I don't really care about stuff like that. Service is quite good with a polite, attentive staff. Breakfast is O.K., nothing special...some croissant, donuts etc. But it's free so no complaints. I would definitely stay there again.

This is the 4th time over the last 3 years that my husband and I have stayed at the Lombardy. Each time it has not disappointed. The rooms are spacious and clean and well appointed. The staff is friendly and efficient. The beds are comfortable and the rooms quiet. The neighborhood is perfect, and hotel within walking distance of whewre we need to go. The nightly rate is still affordable, even for this uptown neighborhood. I will definately be returning!

People say that hotel rooms in New York are tiny - not at The Lombardy - my wife and I shared one of their smallest rooms but it was still very well proportioned and of a generous size, whereas the couple that we were travelling with had a room 3 times as big and this was by no means the largest! The service was good and the continental breakfast filling! We will certainly use the Lombardy whenever we are in New York. Well done.

I chose this hotel because it was within a block of major appointments I had already booked; had never heard of it before. I found it charming; reminds me of classic hotels everywhere. Service is slightly formal, but friendly. Rates were very reasonable, as well (with free wifi and breakfast, a total steal). My room was HUGE - biggest I've ever experienced in NYC, and my entire stay was quiet. Everything was in great condition, and very clean, but it clearly has been some time since the rooms have been renovated - they rock a distinctly 80s vibe. Overall, next time I need to stay in that neighborhood, I'll be back!
