The hotel was super: friendly, helpful staff, a great restaurant, good location (close to metro), and comfortable room - all at a great price.

Very much enjoyed our stay! Only 3 blocks from shopping area of St. Catherines as well as very nice restaurants! Washrooms, while very clean, need upgrading.

Very good but answering service did not function on phone

Pleasantly surprised! Based on the lower price we weren't expecting too much, but we really enjoyed our stay. We will stay here again!

Stayed here instead of the Omni (where I usually stay, which is a block away) to save $50 a night, and it was worth it. PROS: Great location on Sherbrooke; close to subway and bus stops. High floors have a nice view of Mt Royal. Queen beds are really comfy. Service was friendly. CONS: Room walls are thin and you can hear someone talking in the next room; when the next hotel reno is done, walls should be soundproofed. OVERALL: As long as you're not next to noisy people, you should have a great stay. Good value for money.

We found the hotel staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, roomy with sitting area, kitchenette. Location is ideal and close to downtown and excellent restaurants. We would definitely stay at Hotel Cantlie again when we return to Montreal. Room was very clean with affordable price.

In our 4 days stay, they did not clean the small kitchen area. So so service. Local phone call is not free. You will hear some sounds from the corridor. The TV is so small and outdated. Best for short stay only . Location is perfect

This is the third time I have stayed at the Cantlie. Given the central location, the affordable price and the professional staff, it is a winner in my books. Whenever I go to Montreal it will be my first choice. Also, I had a small accident while in Montreal (fell on the sidewalk) requiring an extra night's stay. The front desk staff were extremely helpful, recommending a nearby clinic and bringing the bags of ice I requested within minutes.

I highly recommend this Hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the center of Montreal !!! Extremely clean, VERY polite personnel ... This is my place to stay when I go to Montreal!!! You cannot beat the price/value ratio of this place!!!!

I had a personal issue during my trip and the staff went above and beyond at this hotel to make my stay comfortable. Fantastic service and wonderful staff.

i enjoyed staying in the hotel

Visited the city to party with friends. Cantile is so close to everything. For the price you can't go wrong. Hotel is a little outdated, customer service not the greatest, pool was shut down. If you are a single person or group looking to party adn need a place to crash then stay. If you are a family or a couple looking for a more complete, modern hotel... I would pick another place. Bar was bad, not enough ice/machines, but it was great for what I needed. Right in the heart of everything and for the price I can't complain too much.

HLC is on the north end of downtown but only one block from Peel Metro stop, very convenient. Only 15 min walk from central train station. Only a couple blocks from massive amount of shopping, bars and restaurants. Room comfortable, clean. Would stay again.

The staff were friendly and the location was good. The only problem was the parking cost which was 23/night, a little bit overpriced but it might be a normal price in Montreal.

This hotel was more expensive than the Best Western, and the staff was less competent.

Other than the sofa bed discomfort, the place was great. We did go from 6 towels to 3 on the 3rd day, but once we talked to someone about it, it was remedied. The downtown location was fantastic. The noise on the 26th floor was almost non-existent. I would stay there again.

This is a great place to a comfortable price in the middle of the pie!!!

This hotel is located in a lovely area of Montreal. I felt comfortable walking alone at night all around the hotel. There are many, many restaurants, shops, and art galleries nearby. The rooms in the hotel are not luxurious, but they are spacious and comfortable. My rooms have always contained a mini-kitchen with mini-fridge, sink, microwave, coffee maker and dishware. This is very welcome when I am traveling for business and prefer to eat in my hotel and get some work done in the evening. The staff is very courteous, too.

I was a bit apprehensive because of the negative reviews, but I enjoyed th stay at Hotel Candlie. Perfect location for access to McGill and downtown. The elevators were fine, not too slow. The bed was very comfortable and I liked the bedroom setting. I even used the oven to heat up leftovers. I would recommend this hotel to others visiting Montreal.

This is a great hotel right in the heart of Montreal. We walked in and got an immediate free upgrade to a king sized bed which was awesome. It's two blocks from everything and was in a beautiful location. I highly reccomend this hotel!

Have stayed here often due to location directly across street from McGill University. The mini kitchen is super. Go to Atwater Market and bring back gourmet goods for meals and snacks. 1 block from metro station. Downside is that door locks are old fashioned keys with room number engraved on key, poor security measure.European flight crews are often congregating in the lobby and seem very content. My last stay(03/12) they were doing major renovations during day and sounds of power tools permeated everywhere. I hope keyless entries are part of the renovation. Overall would return. Great deal for the price. Ask for rooms facing the mountain,rooms facing the city (south) get very warm due to direct sunlight and get noise from nearby rooftop nightclubs or something that sounds like that.

Excellent location, very quiet room. Clean, and it had a flat screen TV. Had the tuna sandwich (with great fries and fresh salad) and enjoyed it immensely. I'd stay here again any time. If you want a taste of the high life, go across the street to the Renoir Room at the Sofitel. Sa-weet.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, if a touch dated. It was close to McGill where we were for a conference, and also walking distance to food and shopping. Great location for the price.

The room was very out dated, hadn't been renovated in years! We couldn't check in until 330pm. Great location but thats about it.

Well located for Shopping,Night Clubs,Resturants and The Bell Centre.Was a little suprised by the late check in time 4pm.Rooms were clean and mattress was good but not superb for comfort. I would consider using this Hotel again for the Location and price,very good.

Nice place to stay and very reasonable. Walking distance to all the fun. Staff was very pleasant. We thouroughly enjoyed it. We stayed in an executive suite so that 4 of us (2 kids) could share one room with some amount of privacy. The only thing that would have made the room better was if the drapes on the French doors would have been thicker (sound barrier). I highly recommend this location.

Great location! Nicer hotel with a capable staff, some nice features such as a lovely lobby cafe. The suite was quite small and had an older television. In addition, the only ice machine is on an upper floor.

Are so happy to have discovered this hotel -- a gem ! Recently spent two nights and were most pleasantly surprised! Although a bit dated, this hotel has loads of charm, and offers all the conveniences of more modern facilities. Location is perfect -- close to all sites in the downtown area. Front desk staff were attentive and helpful. The exercise room on the 26th floor offers magnificent city views, the mezzanine dining area is most inviting -- everything great! Rates were exceptional. Will be returning !

The hotel has character and elegance. It offers patrons extreme cleanliness, spacious suites, affordable rates friendly and helpful staff, superb location and great views especially from the fitness area. We have enjoyed our past stays and will definitely return when in montreal
