I travel and stay in hotels for about 2 months of every year. I've stayed at the Rio a few times and the regular rooms are pretty good. Updated decor, plenty of room, etc., but each room I've stayed in had something in disrepair that just makes it look as though they don't care about their hotel. Broken doors, broken fixtures, etc. Overall though, a decent place. HOWEVER, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on the big suites like the 1600 square foot Masquerade Sweet. Thought I'd live large for a few nights and get one and it was one of the biggest let-downs I've ever experienced. It was basically a 1600 square foot Travelodge (if that). The decor was all late 80's, early 90's (white washed with horrendous, old fabric), and hadn't been updated since. The shower looked like it belonged in a hospital or old medical facility. It used to have a glass door on it with aluminum frame, but they took the glass out (left the frame) and just hung a cheap shower curtain in it's place! Ever wonder why they only have one pic of the suite on their website? That's why. There was a hole in the wall paper with chunks of rust falling out... the list goes on. The only thing all that money spent will get you is a nice view. You can do much better at almost any hotel in Vegas for a fraction of the price.

I had to walk a LONG way from self parking to check in and you have to ask to find the registration area.The line was LONG to check in. I was only staying one night so the up graded me to a room on the 20th floor. It was a LONG walk to the room from the elevator. Beauitful room with a "cheap" showerhead (I actually like to be able to feel water not "jet blast") an shower doors. No microwave in a suite? They had a one cup coffee maker but NO COFFEE! Who drinks one cup anyway? Give us at least a four cup maker. My feet hurt. Room was clean, the rate was great.

I loved it. The suite was spacious and clean, service was excellent, and the location - just off the freeway - made for great ease of access. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Staying there was a hugely pleasant experience.

Friendly hotel, rooms were a little dated and worn but the restaurants and clubs were excellent.

Stayed in the Rio Ipanema tower room. Overall the room was nice and clean as well as the bathroom. Television was old CRT model that was b/w until it warmed up after about 5 minutes. Not a big deal, but a bit lame when trying to kill 30 minutes while your buddy showers. The mattress wasn't very comfortable. Slightly sunken in the middle.

Brief but excellent. The hotel provided all of my needs and many of my desires.

Feather pillows, although nice, needed to be covered better so the feathers themselves do not protrude thru the pillow case. Hotel staff were all very nice but the smell of smoke was overwhelming. I realize it is very hard to control but there must be a better way.

we would stay again...next time we are in Las Vegas

efficient, friendly, accomodating service. spacious rooms, although outdated. isolated location off-strip. outdated, unkempt public spaces. expected more for this star-rating.

The Rio has gone down hill. It was so smoky we couldn't stand to be in the Casino. We spent as much of our time as possible out of the hotel. Our room was basically clean. The sofa had several unidentifiable stains on the cushions and the drapes reeked of smoke. We will not stay there again.

rooms are clean, but even non-smoking rooms stink likecsmoke. it's definitely more run down thatnthe newer hotels, but it was ok for our purposes. it was nice to have suite with a kitchen and couch.

Hotel was clean and comfortable, they had a free shuttle to ballys next to paris and the belagio only took a few minutes. Only downside to hotel was they told me if i didnt go to front desk and say i was checked out they consider you staying 1 other day and checkout desk is on otherside of casino.

The hotel was great rooms were clean only thing that would put this hotel over the top would be friendly front desk staff.

I enjoyed my stay at the rio. It's always fun there. The only two issues I had were with the rooms. The air conditioning didn't seem to cool the room whatsoever. It was hot the entire time we were there, no matter how low I adjusted the temperature. Also, the refridgerator took almost an entire day and a half to chill our drinks. Other than that our stay at the rio was fabulous and I will be returning again. :)

I probably wouldn't choose to stay here again. The rooms definitely need to be updated. The remote on my TV didn't work and the picture kept switching from color to black and white. And, the hand shower in the bathroom didn't work. It was nice that there was a shuttle that went to the strip (20 minute walk otherwise), and the bed was quite comfy. But other than that, the rooms looked tired and the cheese factor was high.

Very nice. Comfortable, clean, roomy. Less then the MGM, with bigger room and more features. ie. Guest safe, mini bar ect. We'll be back.

Very nice service,and very nice people.

Arrived early (11am) so decided to see if I could check in early. I stood in a long line and watched every person in front of me get a room key, so I thought to myself checking in earl would be no problem. When I got to the counter, I was told no rooms were available until 4 pm. The people on either side of me at the counter were getting room keys as I was being told there were no rooms. When I questioned why had everyone else received a key, I was told they were club card members and were entitled to priority check in. I told her in that case I would go get a card right now and bring it back so I could get a room key. I was told that wouldn't help me on this visit but it would for the next visit. There was nothing friendly or apologetic about her tone. Note to Rio; There won't be a next time!!!!

The Rio is a great place to stay for the price. I loved the sandy beach! They have several pools with waterfalls. Although they are not on the strip the shuttle goes to/from the strip every half hour. Hopefully, they will update their rooms w flat screen tv's and the location of the tv was odd but other than that it worked for us!

Stayed at the Rio for several years and I have to admit that the general condition of the hotel has declined over the last year. The room's ac unit barely kept the room cool and it appears that the carpet was shampooed just prior to our arrival leaving the room damp and smelling of chemicals. Additionally there were signs of disrepair such as peeling paint and mildew on the walls surrounding the bathtub.

Acceptable at the price.

We were forewarned about the check in process being extremely slow, friends have waited in line more than an hour. Our wait wasn't that long, but it's not a 'well oiled machine.' The room was large and comfortable, better than expected. I enjoyed the abundance of penny slots, because that's about my tolerance for losing! The hotel restaurant reservation line is a call center in the Philippines, where they have no clue about anything. Bypass the the res line and the hotel restaurants if you expect fine dining. The pool areas are clean and attractive, but over the top loud music with a driving beat can drive you away in short order. Value for the room is very good, but walk the mile to the strip or take a shuttle for a good meal or show.

Were just in for the Elton John show on a last minute decision and little time to book hotel. Tried this hotel because of price and star rating, not expecting much and really just needed a bed close enough for a quick taxi ride to Ceasar's Palace. What an excellent surprise! Great facilities, great service (including tip only valet), great pool areas, we only left for the show and enjoyed the rest of our time there. While off the strip, so close it doesn't matter.

The shower/tub drain wouldn't drain, the picture on the TV was horrible and there was not an electrical outlet convenient to the nightstand for medical equipment. They over booked the hotel and offered to move me to another hotel and pay for everything. Would have been great but my fellow workmates were all staying at the hotel and were my ride to meetings.

My stay and visit to Vegas this time was the best. I have been to Vegas 10 times and my stay at the Rio was the best. Very conveniet to every where.thank you.

I love the separation of the Vanity & the bathroom. The room is really spacious and people can just hang out on the couch. Definitely we will go back to RIO.

I have stayed before and though r room was a bit low and had little view, it was spacious and suited. I loved the large tub and two sinks. My boyfriend and I loved the comfort of the bed and pillows. I was not happy at the poor ventilation of the bathroom with no fan for after showers. Also, the thermostat kept it cool but it seemed to blow straight out and on cool one side of the room. We saw Penn & Teller and loved it. The buffet was great and my boyfriend was in heaven with the crab legs. I loved the convience of the starbucks right out of the elevators and the little shop where you could get anything. We enjoyed a day at the pool but I would have like it more had the largest pool with the waterfall been heated too. I had so much fun in it last time it was sad to see it sit there gorgeous and empty. Overall, a 4.5 out of 5 but we would totally come back and recommend it to friends.
