They actually charged a little under $2.00 for the safe in the room, talk about cheap, chintzy, at least hide it in the price, don't mention it on bill!!!

The hotel was clean and convenient; the staff was helpful. There is a nice little bar on site to get a drink in the evening. I would stay here again.

The room was nice and comfortable. Great Continental Breakfast. Nice staff which were friendly and helpful, Only knock was the high floor height of bathroom from main room. Everyone tripped at least once. Hotel a bit pricey but its the only one around in a very well to do neighborhood.

We asked if there was parking, we were told yes. Never were we advised there was a $25:00 per night charge. As we entered our room a microwave & fridge were being rolled out. We have never stayed in a place wer those amenities were an extra charge. Finally our car was returned tous with a scratch on the trunk key area that had not been there before. We requested an early check inand we were told we had to wait. Left with a very poor taste in our mouth. Staff was less than gracious, welcoming, or efficient.

I stayed for a night and i was amazed how nice the staff was when i checked in, how clean the room was when i arrived and how nice the surrounding neighborhood is. I'm very happy i chose this hotel to stay in.

Perfectly nice hotel, well situated if you have business or family in the heart of Bay Ridge. Very friendly and helpful front desk and cocktail lounge staff. Facility itself could use a little updating (more plugs in the rooms for electronic chargers etc), but overall very clean, very comfortable bed with lots of pillows, good shower and decent value for the money. I will return!

I FEEL THAT THE BEST WESTERN GREGORY IS ONE OF THE BEST HOTELS IN ALL OF NEW YORK. EVERYTHING ABOUT THE HOTEL IS FIRST RATE.

The staff was terrific, especially Kim at the front desk and Mary in the hotel lounge. The first room that I was given was dreadful: on the first floor, odor and the smoke detector had been pulled from the ceiling leaving just the cords exposed. I requested another room and waited 2+ hours for it to be cleaned. The hotel is dated.

A decent clean hotel with friendly staff and just two blocks from the subway - but it's a long subway ride into Manhattan from here [50 min] and cab fare from midtown is $40. Would recommend this hotel to tourists exploring New York without time pressure but not as a business base, unless your business is in Bay Ridge.

There were 2 problems: When we arrived at the room the A.C. had been on full blast, the room was extremely cold and all of the bedding was quite wet from condensation. The hotel did not have any extra linen to change the bedding. Wet bedding is extremely uncomfortable to sleep in. Second, the smoke alarm was beeping quite loudly (dying battery). We called maintenance for a new battery but they did not have any extra batteries. This seemed like a bad fire safety issue. My husband has been a firefighter for 40 years.

after reading some of the reviews here I was uneasy about my choice of hotel but I was very happy with the hotel .it does need an update and some of the fixtures are old but it was clean and most of all bug free.the staff was very nice and I never had to wait long for them to get my car form the valet parking.they could not have been nicer.

This hotel has a lovely friendly atmosphere.The staff are very helpful and friendly.It's very close to subway so thus it's convenient to all the must-see sights.The breakfast is more than adequate.I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York.

Hotel Gregory is showing its age, but it's nice enough for our needs and the price is acceptable.

This is a very comfortable hotel, with a great breakfast and very close to the subway entrance for getting around anywhere.

We chose this hotel because of its location in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. It's walking distance to my daughter's apartment. The staff was nice and the room was clean and comfortable. It's not fancy but quite satisfactory - what you'd expect for a Best Western chain hotel. We were able to find street parking which saved $20 per day. It is only a few blocks from the subway (R line) which will take you uptown. There are very few hotels in this area of Brooklyn and I think this is the best one. I'd stay there again.

I have no idea of what is used to clean the bathrooms, but we had to keep the vent fan running. The smell was that of a dirty musty mop, the smell had to be known by house keeping, so how would one make a complaint? The pubic hairs over the floor required us to "towel" carpet the room. I would have thought the mold in the shower tiles would have been reason enough to revamp this room. If you weren't able to get to the courtesy breakfast early enough, you were out of luck. No pastries, eggs or coffee.

Hotel was clean, easy to find, easy street parking, only 2.5 blocks from the R line through a safe working class neighborhood. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, room was clean. I wouldn't walk anywhere in New York alone at 3am, but aside from that, the surrounding area is a very safe, somewhat old, working-class neighborhood. The room was a little small, but I didn't expect anything more. The R line is a pretty long ride into Manhattan, and unfortunately even longer to the northern part of Brooklyn, but it costs the same no matter how far you go, and it couldn't be easier. For the price, if these are the only down-sides, you're doing pretty well in New York City. We will definitely stay again.

Definitely older but right on the R train stop and close to buses. If you're there for Bay Ridge event it's great (and seems to be the only Bay Ridge hotel). Staff was great and helpful. And there is breakfast (small bite) and a hotel bar.

Way overpriced for a dirty hotel. would not recommend.

upon arriving at the hotel we realised that the subway ran directly underneath the hotel but were told this couldn't be heard from any of the rooms, obviously this was not the case. I requested a non smoking room and we were put in a room on the second floor where the subway could be heard and felt clearly. The room smelt strongly of cigarettes which puzzled me as I had requested a non smoking room, I later found that the second floor was the "smoking floor". We requested a move to the top floor as the noise from the floor above (floor boards!!) was too loud. Hoping to get a good nights sleep in our new room, clean, not smelling of cigarettes we were woken up to the maids vacuuming the hall way before 9am!! I had paid prior to arrival through hotels.com but the reception requested a card to hold just in case (as you do...) When we checked out we were told there was nothing to pay and that we were "good to go". When I arrived home and checked my balance the hotel had taken £20.03 without any authorisation! BEWARE!

The Best Western Gregory Hotel was a very nice hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean. I would definitely suggest this hotel to others.

The hotel was very clean, cozy and a good price. The staff was very accommodating and the continental breakfast has a good variety of items including making your own waffles. Parking was not a problem. We will definitely use this hotel in the future. My only negative was the fact that I could not access internet in my room. The free WiFi did not work on the fourth floor and the staff sent up a cable to connect to my computer to access the internet. For whatever reason I still was not able to connect to the internet and the hotel staff could not get me on-line either. The WiFi worked fine in the lobby however so I was able to use it there. I still would recommend this hotel however.

This is the second time I stayed in this hotel and the last one. Customer service is very good: responsive, accurate, no complaints there. However hotel condition was disappointing (maybe it was just my room). The room was smelly, grimy and overall had a very "old" feel. The air/heat was noisy and again had an unpleasant smell. Toilet was clogged (after we call it was fixed very promptly). Breakfast was unsatisfactory - very limited and not very fresh. For the money it was not a great experience unfortunately - I will try Marriott next time.

I would recommend this hotel. The staff is courteous, responsive to requests and the hotel is very pleasant and quiet. There is complimentary breakfast in the mornings and high-speed internet in the rooms via ethernet cable, as welll as wireless in the lobby. Overall, I enjoyed my stay very much. The hotel is rather far from Manhattan, but the subway is located close by and it is about a 35 min ride straight to downtown Financial District.

The staff was helpful and friendly at check in. When asked, they arranged for a car service to take us to the airport the following morning. The free breakfast was a nice perk and included bagels, cereal, waffles, fresh fruit and boiled eggs. The breakfast space was spacious and clean. The hotel was within walking distance of an area with stores and restaurants. I will definitely stay there again when visiting family who live within walking distance of the hotel.

We stayed two nights. The bathtub was unclean and its drain did not work well in the first one. We compained at 10 PM and the night front desk recepient was kind and came personally to scrub the tub. The drain problem could not be fixed. There was a bad smell in the bathroom the whole time. The next day, we switched to a different room and the tub drain still took a long time to empty. Take a shower and wait a couple of hours and you end up with a disgusting tub full of hair and soap scum. Most of the staff were trying to be helpful but a couple amazed us by their unhelpful or once plain mean attitude.

A few glitches--no TV remote, missing bathmat, breakfast nearly gone by 8:30--but this is the third time we've benn here. It's all right. With a little looking aroung found street parking at 11:00pm.

The area is charming, and there are several great restaurants nearby moderately priced to enjoy. We had a great Italian meal two blocks away. It's nice to be able to take an early evening walk around the neighborhood. The room was clean and the breakfast was adequate. The entire staff worked hard to please. The young intern at the desk was exceptional. She found a way to our Brooklyn destination that would not involve lots of traffic. And she suggested the great restaurant. We would definitely come back.

This hotel is reasonably priced and in a well established, supposedly nice neighborhood. It is easily getting in and out of NY highway system. Rooms were reasonably clean, nothing fancy. However, if someone is used to parking lot parking, or gets back to the hotel too late(after the parking guy leaves), he/she needs to find a parking space on streets in the supposedly safe neigborhood.

This hotel was nice - however, be warned, do not go anywhere near the smoking floor - it was overwhelming with smoke and smell. Unfortunately one of the people in our party had no option but to get a room on a smoking floor and it was difficult to sleep. The breakfast bar - a bit disappointing. however, Brooklyn does not have much to offer in the way of hotels - so if necessary, I would probably stay again.

This location bills itself as a "luxury", but it was ok-average. Not necessarily worth the price, if not for being the only hotel for miles.

Check in was at 3 pm, but the room wasn't available until after 3:30. It would have been fine if I was aware of that before making plans for the afternoon.

Convenient to subway (2 blocks), but subway noise evident; windows do not open (for those who smoke or just want fresh air); Great bagels (continental breakfast otherwise average); safe & friendly neighborhood; lounge only open 5pm-10pm, Mon thru Sat. Overall, a pleasant place, and good value (especially at hotel.com rates).

After reading the reviews, I was slightly optimistic but concerned about staying at this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel was clean, the staff was super friendly and helpful, the room was quite comfortable, and the distance to the train was perfect! My husband & I would definitely stay here again on our next trip to NYC!

This is the only hotel in this part of Brooklyn and so if you need to stay in the local area, the Gregory is your only choice. I gave it an average rating on all the questions the Hotels.com survey asked and that's how I feel about it. The neighborhood is okay, the rooms are sufficient and they do provide a very basic breakfast in the morning. The front desk service is not the greatest - for instance they forgot to book a car service for me and when the elevator broke down although it was fixed fast, they forgot to go to all the floors to remove their signs saying the elevator was malfunctioning. To eat I suggest you walk a block over to 3rd Avenue where there is a nice selection of good Italian places. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there is a bar. I stopped in the bar one evening to grab a delivery menu from one of the local restaurants and the bartender was taking a personal call on the phone (something about if she had to go to a party or not) and was ignoring me. I finally walked out.

I had a very bad experience in this hotel. I have arrived at 11 p.m. on 09/25/09 to find a woman in the reception area that could not care less about a family of 4 peoples. The first thing she asked me was : Sir, will charge you 25 dollars for vallet parking and if you do not take your car by early morning the next day, we will charge you another 25 dollars. The second thing is: I suppose to take keys for 2 rooms i have reserved. She give me only keys to one room in the 4th floor. I had to go down for the second set of keys , to find out that she give me a room in the 1st floor. Guess how much they charge me for parking my car.....50 dollars. Please, do not use this bad hotel.

There are surprisingly few place to stay in Brooklyn. This is a good one--reasonable price, small but comfortable room, good neighborhood, friendly service, and a pretty good breakfast. With luck you can find onstreet parking but may have to move car rather early in the morning for street cleaning or something (be sure to read the signs).

Staying at this hotel helps on get a glimpse of the real neighborhoods in which New Yorkers live, even up to and including the subway ride into Manhattan. There are many nice restaurants and interesting stores in the area. My only real complaint came when we checked in when the little woman at the desk was brusque about checking me in, muttering something about the computers being down and no rooms being available. Having just endured the train trip in from Boston I was, needless to say, extremely tired and did not appreciate the close to 45 minute wait I had to endure. I also had some problems with getting the TV to work correctly. All in all this is a way to stay in a real hotel room at rates that comparable hotels in Manhattan cannot touch.
