hotel seemed individually owned. it was cheap and you could tell. if your not picky and just need a place to rest your head... go for it

Beward of bed bugs!! We had to go to the hospital because the bites were so bad. All our clothes had to be steamed cleaned, and some we had to trash. Will never stay here again. Will file this with Howard Johnson head office.

If your a non smoker and plan on using this hotel beware that many of the rooms have a engulfing smell of cigarette smoke emanating from the bathroom. I had to switch rooms 4 times before finding an okay room. The staff was surprised to hear that people are smoking in hotel rooms. Pros, close to I-80 in a nice safe neighborhood and the breakfast is good.

no maintenance at room & not clean

The real express was me checking out immediately. Dirty smelly ants, unacceptable.

This hotel needs a make over. Everything was just mediocre. The rooms were old and stale, so was the elevator and the hallways. The comp bkfst.... well they could of kept it! Bread stale, waffle machine was old, crusty and dirty... they really need to break open their piggy bank and buy a new one. All the condiments came out of 1 bottle (no packet sized anything...not even ketchup) Oatmeal /original only. it was just horrible...didnt feel like a clean place to eat. then the nerve to say please do not take food to the room. smh! I wonder why?!?!

I had been in this same hotel in orlando fl and i wasn't satisfy so I gave it a second change to see that maybe it was just that first time expirence. It was worst than the first one. Im a manager for a resort and i was wow what is this pictures they look good til you are there. The bed didnt have a bed cover,it had a sheet as a bed cover. the worm blanket had holes on it from cigarretes burn. the worst part was when i went to iron the iron itself was screwed to the iron bord. so i call fronk desk about it and the girl didnt know what i was talking about so she sends housekeeping to see what was wrong with it. I told the guy that there wasnt anything wrong with the iron. He had the nerve to show me how to iron his way. It was so ridicoulos how they send someone how to show me how to iron my clothes. I will never in my life have been so upset about staying in a hotel when i did at the howard johnson. It was an awful expirence. I will tell my friends and family not to stay there. Its that simple. oh and another thing at the continental breakfast bar they had a sing saying PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANY FOOD TO YOUR ROOM THE SERVE HERE ITS TO EAT AT THE BREAKFAST AREA. I was like OH MY GOD. I only was there for one night and i had a 2 day booked. i give this hotel a 0. who r u to tell me not to take my breakfast to my room that im paying you for. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good location. Good value. Nice touch including WiFi and breakfast at no extra charge. Nice selection of cable TV choices. Right off I-80 and not far from Newark.

I don't know if it's because I'm use to better but I was a little disappointed in the hotel. I know the price was reasonable but I did not expect the bathroom to be almost as big as the bedroom (which would have been good if I had planned to sleep in the bathroom :-), the tiny bed, and I definitely didn't expect HOLES in the blanket!! It's ok if you're only going to go, sleep, and get out, but if you plan to spend any time in the room, even for the price, it's just not good!!!! To their benefit, the staff was very pleasant and helpful.

The room was a bit run down but ok for the money.

I traveled alone for the first time and I could not have been more terrified when arrived at the hotel. The hotel was disgusting, the sheets were stained, the bathroom was moldy, the the shower head was covered in so much mold that it was hard to believe it actually allowed water to flow through it. The worst part was that the door opened to a dirty and horrifying wooded area and the lock was broken. The deadbolt hung onto the door by one half broken screw. I did not feel safe. I did not complete my stay. I did not get my money back due to the no cancellation policy. I will not be stayinng at another Howard Johnson ever again.

Im in town 1-2 times a month and work nights They are able to get me an early check in no problems Nice friendly staff..

Wanted to charge extra $20. to check in two hours early, breakfast was very shabby. Room was okay for what we needed (only a place to sleep). Bedding was clean. Bathroom was okay, a little mold on the tub. This hotel is definitely a get what you pay for hotel. Rate was very reasonable and it served its purpose.

Nice hotel, very well maintained, decent breakfast. Not really close to anything, but for the price you can't get a better one.

I stayed on my way to JFK. Just one hour from JFK. Got a good breakfast in am. Rooms are good for the price. Friendly staff. Would recommend.

This hotel looks like its on the verge of being closed down and seemed like a cheap motel hookers take their dates...not to mention my key didn't work and had to wait for help from the front desk and his key didn't work...the hotel has somewhat of a swamp in the rear and the carpets wasn't vacuumed not to mention the bathroom wasn't cleaned neither...I will never stay here again just because u pay cheap for a rm it doesn't have to be cleaned and with the rooms not clean and the hotel looking runed down I didn't even wanna attempt to eat breakfast

The hotel is too expensive presently because it isundergoing renovation.- the workmen are there even on Thankgiving doing plaster board work along the corridors The toilet bowl was leaky Microwave do not work Linen and the overall cleanliness is good. Easily accessibe to public transport Easily accessible to theshopping mall This is not time to recommend it to anyone.

The rate was good, the hotel was clean. Continent breakfast is always a plus. The staff was polite.

the guy at the front desk gave quite an attitude when I had to ask 4 times if the credit card he asked for was going to be ran through the system because I was already paid and didnt want a double charge. If he didn't want me to ask several times, he shouldn't have ignored my question. There were brown stains on the blankets. and the shower was the most awkward shower. I am 5'2" and the shower head was almost eye level. It was a extremely cheap "remodel" to say the least. I would not ever go back especially because the price. Way to expensive for a roach motel atmosphere.

A little shabby but clean and comfortable. Decent price. Lots of restaurants deliver there and there is a complimentary breakfast. It was a safe warm place to stay during a week without power or heat in our home after a bad storm.

Two and a half hour wait at hotel before registration with reservation!!

Good staff, decent room, GREAT price, less than an hour from NYC.

very nice for the price not bad

I woke up at 3:30 am with my baby and found a huge bug crawing on me, I took the bug to the front desk and they blew me off, the breakfast bar was not stocked.

The hotel was clean and smell freah.

They had some kind of scrambled egg food product that I couldn't eat and I'm a big eater

Stayed here as a quick overnight sleep spot on road trip. It was fine... but probably could have found nicer spot for same price. Old and not well maintained, the pillows were plastic-covered. Door of our room had obviously been kicked in before based on the bad molding repair job... not so inspiring of confidence in safety or quality of motel. The bathroom was clean but old. Seriously needs renovation. Dirty (cigarette carton and air freshner & dust and crumbs) under the furniture.

The room contained a strong musty smell that made it very uncomfortable to breath and sleep. As a result I woke up in the morning not feeling well.

we rented 3 rooms for 6 people. on the last nite,we each received a obscene phone call beginning at 2am -230am. a man identified himself as 'mike' and he was in the next room (e.g. he would ask if this is room 314 and then says he is in room 315). in our phone call, he asked if we had a spare condom & that he really need it. i called the hotel clerk immediately who said he would call the room in question, but i told him not to as the room next door was our fellow companions room. next morning when i complained to the day clerk, he knew nothing about it. the night clerk should have informed the day clerk. the day clerk told us the 3 calls came from the hotel, not from outside. our last night was not restful at all as we were fearful & nervous
