It is just a block from the boardwalk. Nice breakfast in the morning. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great value for the price.

Pros: Neat, cozy room with a microwave, fridge and lcd tv. Optimum utilization of space. 1 block away from boardwalk - eliminates the need to drive and find parking near the boardwalk. Hotel staff are well-mannered, pleasing and helpful. For the cons - neighborhood isnt great - gets lonely and silent after the boardwalk closes. exterior of the hotel needs a facelift. while the interiors were great, i felt the door felt old and unsafe. breakfast was just ok - needs more variety and better quality cheese and bread

First off, I've stayed in hotels from India to Indiana. Hong Kong to Harrisburg PA. So take that for what it's worth. Check in? Smooth. The beautiful lady had the funniest sense of humour. Reserved 3 rooms for 2 nights. Two kings and a double. There was no vacancy over the weekend: the location is prime. A 3 minute walk to Santa Cruz boardwalk. The manager (owner?) constantly walked the property and was always friendly, making sure I was comfortable and had my needs met. One night he even directed me to a parking space and helped me guide the 15 passenger van we rented into it. The rooms were very-well appointed and breakfast was hot and delicious. Not too much room in the lobby to eat, so feel free to take it back to your room. I gave all 5's down the line. Hope you enjoy your stay here like my family did!

This is one of those bargains whose looks are deceiving. It isn't the Ritz, but it you're looking for a bargain with excellent, friendly service, a clean room with a comfy bed with feather-soft pillows, and close location to the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz - Book this place!! The neighborhood looks "iffy" at first glance, but the locals don't bite. And your'e only a block and a half from the Boardwalk.

The rooms were clean and ready when we got there. The parking lot can only accommodate one car per room. The manager was gracious enough to let me park in the lot across the street. The manager was also gracious enough to let us keep our cars there during the Santa Cruz 1/2 Marathon Race.

This is one of the BEST places I've stayed in, bar none ! Let me start by saying that I am temporarily in a Wheelchair due to a leg injury. I was a little apprehensive about traveling away from home because of the injury. The staff made it a very pleasurable and smooth trip. When I arrived the check in process went smoothly without any problem whatsoever. After I checked in the person behind the desk insisted that he help me with my luggage, even though I only had one bag and really didn't need assistance. The parking was right next to my room which made getting in easy and uneventful. The room and bathroom were HUGE with more than enough space for the wheelchair. There was even a shower stool which was very helpful since I cannot put much weight on my leg. The checkout process went equally as smooth. I would recommend this hotel highly for anyone with mobility issues !!

I brought my twins here for their 7th birthday, breakfast was convenient offering waffles, my girls favorite, and fruits and the room was great clean and comfortable. The staff was very polite and helpful.

Room was ready early. Close to beach/boardwalk but still walking distance to downtown. Water pressure was awesome! Room could have been a bit cleaner.

The room was super small but very clean. Well located near boardwalk and walking distance to downtown. Probably super loud in summer but that wouldn't be the hotel's fault. Seems to be family run which is nice.

had to wait for hot water. received a phone call at 7 am for breakfast even though we didn't ask for it. not enough parking. overall ghetto.

I booked this hotel while travelling for business. The rate seemed high when I called the hotel but was $20 dollars cheaper through Hotels.com. I usually prefer Hampton Inn so that quality of hotel is the baseline of comparison. The reception staff was friendly while checking in. The room was smallish and a little cramped but clean. The seasonal pool was closed. The parking lot is very cramped if you are driving anything bigger than a Honda Civic. The complimentary breakfast was nothing fancy, including waffles, sausage links, cereal etc. The best feature of this hotel is that it literally takes a two minute walk to be on the beach. Ten minutes and you can be on the Santa Cruise Pier. I would stay here again.

This was one of the best hotels for the price I've ever stayed in. I've stayed in hotels that were 3 times more expensive, and they weren't as good as this. The gentleman at the front the desk was extremely nice. The room was immaculate, the bed was very comfortable, and the water in the shower was hot. You can see the Boardwalk from the hotel, and it's maybe a 3 to 5 minute walk to get there. Will definitely stay there again.

For an older hotel it was well maintained and the service was friendly.

Clean and quiet, breakfast coffee needed attention, location convenient for tourist attractions, nice staff.

For a two-star chain hotel, I was very satisfied with the stay. The staff is very concerned about your comfort and satisfaction. The hotel room was slightly on the small side, but overall comfortable and clean. The location is great as it is relatively centrally located within Santa Cruz and right down the street from the boardwalk. We will definitely stay here again.

This has to be one of my best experiences at an American hotel. The concierge service was fantastic, especially the young man who helped settle us in. We are Deaf, but he patiently explained everything we needed and even helped set up the captioning for our television. The room had lots of quality stuff...a refrigerator with plenty of room for our perishables, a great bed, tons of cable channels, a heating system that worked perfectly. We were happy as clams. I heard that parking was a problem and that is probably true during the heavy summer tourist season, but we were there on Christmas day, and parking was not a problem at all. Breakfasts were adequate with eggs, sausage, cereals, rolls and pastries, etc. In sum, a fabulous place to stay

The Hotel was clean and comfortable. Abhi was an excellent inn keeper, friendly, attentive and helpful. It provides beakfast as well. It was a satisfactory experience overall.

The stay was very good. The only problem is car parking. Parking is congested & mention it for others driving an SUV, etc.

evry thing was nice and the room was very clean we will stay there from now on when we go out that way

Parking was really bad but it was perfect for what we wanted. Very close walk to boardwalk

It was my first visit to Santa Cruz and I was thankful to have the hotel so close to the boardwalk...literally a block away. The rooms were spacious and clean not overly exciting or beautiful but functional. The parking however was a bit odd, stacked parking very inconvenient. The breakfast is served within a 3 hours time frame but if you get there at the end you get what is left...it does not seem as if they replenish

Stay was very comfortable. Boardwalk easy walking distance as well as beach and wharf. Accomodations at Comfort Inn are perfect for family. Breakfast and coffee are as advertised very good and well stocked. Room was clean, safe, and relatively quiet. I would definately recommend for a inexpensive getaway for the family. Be sure to bring a Pepsi can to boardwalk during weekday nights to save big time on rides. Rides are kid friendly if they are 48-50 inches tall you are good to go.

I have stayed in two star hotels near the Boardwalk before and usually am less than satisfied. Shifty hotel management and crime scene filthy rooms are usually what you get. Not the case with the Comfort inn. Management was helpful, friendly, let us leave our car in the lot wayyyy before check in so we could enjoy the Boardwalk in the early hours. We came back later for a nap and to get ready for the beach and were surprised to find the cleanest room, a fridge and a microwave, a big tv, comfy beds, heat, ac and a fan. Two mere blocks from the beach and Boardwalk. We will be back for sure next summer. Great deal for a great room

This motel is very close to the boardwalk, and the staff is very helpful, breakfast is good, lots of fruit available. The room I had was very small with difficulty moving around the table. Don't miss the Fall Creek hike, up the hill. On a separate note,I loved booking thru the 5 star phone line. What excellent service, the agent understood everything I said and offered helpful options.

The hotel was a very short walk to the beach boardwalk. The room was small but very clean and the refrigerator in the room actually worked very well. The TV remote didn't work and the security latch on the room door appeared to have had someone try to break it previously. We checked out on a Saturday so we had to move our car to the street and feed a meter to park. When I asked the clerk for change for the meters she was rather rude and told abruptly said no.

Just visited Santa Cruz, specifically to go to the Boardwalk, and this hotel worked out perfect. It is a 5 minute walk from the Boardwalk. The hotel is nice and clean, and the room was spacious and comfortable.

We had a great time! The check in was easy and the beds were comfy! But, there was a used washcloth left over the shower curtain rod:( that was a little gross. Other than that, cute little pool nice covered partking and the proximity to the baordwalk is great. Would definitely stay there again!

Within walking distance of the Boardwalk and restaurants. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great free breakfast.

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend this hotel based on it's location to the peir, beach and entertainment only.

A good location to the pier and boardwalk. The hotel is older, but clean. The breakfast is fair, but there is not much seating. Weekend prices are very high for the quality.

Close to boardwalk otherwise not much else going for it. Stayed on a Saturday night and it was VERY expensive. Breakfast was good,

The representative from hotels.com said it was the same as Rio Sands in Aptos. My children were looking forward to going swimming and spending time in the hot tub and swimming pool. They not only had a hot tub ,but their swimming pool was very very small. I had also asked for a bottom room but we got a room on the second floor instead. We did like the convenience of walking to the boardwalk, and the rooms was clean.

Generally okay. Unfortunately the Boardwalk was not open when we were there so really nothing to do within walking distance. Most shoppping etc in Santa Cruz is downtown and you will have to drive there. Room recently remodeled and in good shape; lots of plugs to recharge devices. I didn't think the breakfast was all that great. No one seemed to be monitoring the food and things ran out before 10 am. I do recommend Gilda's on the Wharf. Great local place; call ahead or you will have to wait. Wednesday's Prime Rib Speical $8.95. Very popular deal.

It appeared that the rooms were newly renovated and for the price, I thought it was much better than expected. The outside appears looks like a normal motel style. The inside of the room was clean, new looking and the location was walking distance (less than 10 minutes) to downtown and to the beach. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was a standard hotel breakfast. I think for the price, this motel is tough to beat.
