Seven Gables Inn - كليتون

4/27/12----7 Gables is located in a great suburb of St. Louis, very quant theme & decor. The service was above average (staff very nice). Not really designed for children. HOWEVER, hotel has 3 floors and does NOT have an elevator (we were located on the 3rd fl, getting luggage up & down wasnt fun nor travelling the stairs several times in a day) or adequate air conditioning (had to use stand fans). You can only get ice from staff. The parking is pretty expensive (& I live in Chicago). The bath/shower (small tub) & toilet area were extremely small with NO ventilation. Probably wouldn't stay there again, which is very unfortunate due to its quaintness.

I had a fabulous time in a fabulous hotel. Beautifully decorated, great location, very nice people. I would definitely return!

They must have had romantic Valentine's day getaways in mind when they designed Seven Gables Inn - We'll be back!

We were only disappointed in a few things .... The room was huge, but there was not one full length mirror to be found anywhere. Putting on makeup was difficult due to no vanity, so I had to lean across the bathroom sink in order to have light and a mirror at the same time. Also, the thermostat was hidden behind the TV, so that took a while to find. Overall, it was quiet and the Irish Pub downstairs was a nice convenience. Also, it was within walking distance of some excellent restaurants. And every night we were welcomed with yummy, warm, home style cookies at the desk. Parking was problematic and twice we had to park on the street due to no available "valet" to park our car. But the hotel kindly took the valet parking charge off our bill. Don't expect anyone to help you with your bags either, which was weird since there were no elevators and yet there are three floors.

Small but lovely hotel, no elevator, but the location is ideal.

Lovely inn style hotel in a quiet, clean neighborhood...it is five minutes from Washington University, which is why we were there. It was our 2nd stay there and we will continue to book.visits there if the price is right. Three floors, no elevators and no amenities.like a gym or.pool so it is.not for families with children. But the rooms are very nice and well.appointed although the bathroom is small...what you would expect for an inn. The restaurant is.good and reasonably priced- a small Irish pub. The hotel staff could not be nicer.

This is maybe the most charming hotel that I have ever stayed in. I grew up in St. Louis and spent much time in Clayton, so even though it has been many years since I was back, I felt at home there. The neighborhood is as beautiful as ever. The staff is very pleasant and eager to please. I would absolutely go back!

We thoroughly enjoyed the Seven Gables. The bed and pillows were super comfortable, which is the hardest thing to find in a hotel. We chose the Seven Gables because it is one block from Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. It is also one block from a fabulous crepe restaurant, and has a very good authentic Irish pub, Molly Darcy's, right in the hotel. The potato leek soup is outstanding!

Be prepared for a unique experience if you stay at the SGI: it's not at all like staying at a standard, chain motel/hotel. It's more like staying at a B&B: a kind of a funky, well-lived in older home. Depending on your tastes, that's either charming or not. My room was dark and the ceiling seemed low - and I'm not really tall - but the bathroom was very new and clean, so it was more than adequate in some regards but felt a bit too cozy in some ways. I found the staff very helpful. The courtyard is delightful and you can smoke there - so that' s a plus if you want your morning or pre-bedtime cigarette or enjoy eating al fresco. The proximity to shopping and walking distance to nice restaurants or pubs can't be beat. No elevator - so book a first floor room is you have heavy or numerous bags. I'm glad I stayed at the SGI and recommend it highly to those who like quaint and different hotel experiences.

We got off to a bad start by being assigned to an unclean room. We were pleased that staff responded quickly and generously. This is a comfy old hotel best described as "fun and funky." My only complaint is that it was not as clean as I prefer, especially the dining tables and bathrooms. It's not the hotel for everyone, but if you like comfy, old, and funky, this is the place for you!

Hotel is clean and in an upscale neighborhood. Breakfast and free wifi is a good value, however they charged me $17 to valet when there is free parking all over the block on the weekends (it would have been nice for them to let me know that, even if they missed out on the valet charge). Room was a bit warm, so fan was provided. No elevator, steep stairs. Neighborhood is very nice, but pretty far from downtown/tourist spots.

I have stayed at Seven Gables many times. It is very conveniently located in the heart of Clayton. many good restaurants within a block. The rooms are old and the stairs creak but the beds are very comfortable the rooms nice and clean and the service is great but not imposing.I will continue to use this hotel for my many trips to the St Louis area. Only complaint: parking charge per night is out of line.

It's located in the restaurant district of Clayton, so you are close to several local options. The Inn also has a nice, quite courtyard to enjoy as well a very good continental breakfast.

I have stayed here several times, the price through Hotels.com is very good,although they give you the smaller room with no view. But you can not beat the location in Clayton.

We enjoyed our few days. Very comfortable beds, spacious rooms, convenience to stores and activities. Chocolate chip cookies upon arrival were a nice touch. Nice breakfast area and fun little pub on premises.

Excellent location for a short visit to Wash U. Friendly staff, nice morning breakfast, nice room and very much appreciated the free wireless. Will stay here again on my next visit.

good place to stay when visiting wash u ( altho no shuttle) & walk is 2 miles. very friendly staff - good buffet breakfast & pub below is great for nightcap. surrounding clayton neighborhood is lively on thurs / fri night - quieter saturday

Nice, quiet, quaint hotel. Rooms were comfortable and well-provisioned. Continental breakfast was good and in-house bar/cafe was very good. The only surprise was that parking was not included. It was located in a small lot across the street and cost $17 a day. One night, the lot was full and we had to find an alternate location.

When we go to St. Louis, we usually stay at the Seven Gables. This time was even better the front desk staff is much improved. The maid service is great as usual. One complaint though. Get a better grade of tp.

This place was perfect for my girlfriend and me. We hadn't seen each other for quite some time, and we were meeting in STL. I started looking for B&Bs in STL but mostly found old homes with quilts on the beds and doilies on the tables--places my mom would love but not too romantic for me and my girl. Seven Gables is a great mix of old-era comfort and modern-style luxuries. Couldn't be more pleased, and I highly recommend it. Seven Gables will definitely be the place for my girlfriend and I as we continue to travel through STL.

The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.

What a treat to find old-world charm in the midst of a modern business district. Proximity to Metro-link and ease of the system was great. Food in Pub was great and was all members of the hotel staff.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. It is a boutique hotel so some of the amenities of a big hotel were not there (ie. ice machine). The room was a nice size and the bed and pillows were great and we had no trouble falling asleep. While other hotels charge for their internet. It is complimentary here...a big plus for me. A continental breakfast is served...nothing special but acceptable. It is right in the center of downtown Clayton and most everything is within walking distance or a short drive. The staff was extremely helpful and very nice. My only complaints are that they have cheapened the toiletries from my previous stays and they no longer put Bissinger's chocolates on your pillows. Also what is with the toilet paper? Come on now, spend a few more cents and use some softer paper. Also remember there is no elevator and it is a 3 story hotel, so if you cannot climb steps, ask for a 1st floor room. They are away from the action and will be quiet. Overall, I highly recommend The Seven Gables Inn

We were delighted with this Hotel. It a historic Hotel which is very well kept up and in a great neighborhood! It's surrounded by restaurants and bars within walking distance. Staff was very friendly and the complimentary breakfast was nice. Our bed was super comfortable. We would stay here again!

This is my husband's favorite place to stay in St Louis on business. We brought my mom along for a short weekend vacation this time. Very quaint hotel in a great area. Rooms were a little stuffy but the staff did accommodate with fans. Was a little worried about my mom walking up and down 2 flights of stairs as there are no elevators. All was well though. Only complaint is that the bathtub did not drain well during showering, I find this quite gross. Otherwise, I'm sure we'd stay there again.

I travel for business and it's nice to stay in a place that's more homelike. The staff is very welcoming and the environment is well, cozy. It also provides a centralized location for calling on local businesses.

The hotel is a older hotel in a quiet neighbourhood. The service off the personell is good and the rooms are good. Everything is clean and is looking good. How ever they need a new cook that knows what he is doing. The dinner was not verry good the fish and chips wher as hard as a rock. A continental breakfest is something different than what they serve. Bagels buns and jelly is abouth what you get. No eggs bacon ore something like that. The hotel is a little overpriced for what they offer.
