Hotel Gambrinus - روما

enjoyed our stay very much. staff very friendly and helpful. about 15mins walk to nearest metro which will get you to most points of interest. would recommend get shuttle bus from airport to city centre then metro to piazza del Repubblica then a taxi to the hotel. that good would go back again.

This was a great little hotel near most embassies in an upscale neighborhood of Rome. We found the hotel staff to be extremely patient and helpful with us on our first trip to Italy. The neighboring restaurants also offered helpful, friendly staff and great food choices that aren't right in the middle of all the tourist attractions, so we found the quality of the food to be a better than closer in to the center of the city. We had an adjoining room with our 10- and 12-year old and, although their room was tight and small, the bathroom was quite spacious. The rooms definitely accommodated our needs for sleep and showers, and we were fairly pleased with the breakfasts that were included with our rooms. The only negative for us, really, was that the elevator is older and so it's slow and there is no stair access as an alternative. We'd recommend it and likely stay again!

I thought that our hotel was really clean, well designed and pleasant, it is better in real life than on the website. Only 12 to 15 minutes to the centre and Trevi fountains, it is in a really good place and you are not paying the vast prices of other hotels that are just a little more central. Good value for money and everything you need for a hotel, plus the staff are really lovely and helpful. Victoria's kind recommendation of the restaurant Il Viaggio nearby was great too, fab food.

I stayed here for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay. The staff are excellent and very helpful. The location is ok, it was about a 15 min walk to Spanish steps, but you can get a bus right outside the hotel and you about a 10 minute walk from the metro which can bring you to most of sights in Rome ( A metro/ bus pass for the day costs €4. Nice resturants around the hotel that the receptionist recommended and cheaper than city centre resturants. Breakfast was very good in the hotel but I would advice to go to get breakfast early as it can get very busy. Overall this was a very good hotel for the money I paid for it .

We thoroughly enjoyoued our stay at Hotel Gambrinus Rome. Fabio and the other staff were very welcoming and friendly, and easily arranged for a taxi to pick-up and drop-off at the airport. Booked a classic double room, plenty of space and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast buffet selection available at sensible hours. Bit of a walk to / from the city centre but close to local buses and only a short drive to attractions. Also easy to walk to station where we picked up an open top bus tour of the city, which is highly recommended! We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone else looking for a stay in Rome. This hotel is a bit northwest of center, and priced at about half of the hotels in center for the same quality from what i could tell. Always staffed at the desk, Vittoria was particularly helpful, and the breakfast was great for an included buffet. Clean, efficient and nice Roman ambiance. Only nits to pick are wifi always worked in reception but was off and on in the room. When the room was cleaned in the day they moved all my stuff around - everything, which was a bit unusual, but at least the room was clean and orderly. I dont mind walking so the location was fine, and for the price, excellent. Not far from the train and i think there are buses for the km or 2 to center (all of which is included if you do the Roma pass) but didnt figure the bus route out as i'm a walker (hiker in fact). I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I don't know what makes a hotel 4 stars, but this hotel is definitely not the 4 stars hotel I was thinking about! The front desk is very helpful. Wifi sometime works sometime doesn't, we stayed there 7 nights, wifi only worked 2 nights for us. We had a room at the street side, it is very loud during the night. The breakfast is very good, lots of selections, and the breakfast stuff is very nice.

The hotel is in quiet area with 3 bus stops away from centre termini and sightseeing point; with walking around 15 minutes ; and hotel think not up to the 4 star as mentioned (think around 2 to 2.5 star rating probably), room is tidy and clean but very small indeed with hanging TV with also the toilet shower is very very slow and not fit the standard to the hotel, the breakfast provide are small choice (suprise even boiled egg are not provide) and food are normal, but cost also less then other hotels so depend your budget spending but think the hotel need mention what cost match with what service provide that honestly to tourist ... Overall normal standards and please noted also the city tax are not excluding in hotels.com booking so extra cost maybe arise.

In a quiet neighbourhood and yet easy access to city on bus and subway.. 10 mins walk from castro pretoria station. Clean, modern and good size room for 2. Excellant selection of hot and cold breakfast. Staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended

The hotel location was about 10 minutes from the train station. The hotel service was good and friendly. The room was small but having a T.V. was a plus. I would tell other people about it.

Not the best location for tourist sites. 15 walk. Great service and very clean. Just works. Recommend! Five stars for value for money

the hotel was vwry clean, comfortable and nice the location was not comfortable, becaust it is not in the center, we took a taxi few times a day.

The location is great, but we had a few issues: 1. No wi-fi (password didn't work in room and hot spot in lobby didn't work either); 2. Unfriendly evening desk staff 3. Did not give requested wake-up call 4. Elevator did not work in the morning when we were trying to get 6 pieces of luggage down from 4th level to lobby 5. Porter not available until after 8am Sundays. 6. No on-site parking; must park blocks away in pay-per-hour lot which had gypsy child pretending to be parking attendant. 7. Smells horribly of smoke; I requested non-smoking room, but only one floor in the hotel is truly non-smoking.

The hotel was clean and wel maintained but my room was the size of a closet. Said there was wifi service but it was only available in the lobby.

Location was great, staff friendly and helpful, rooms clean. Tourist bus was convenient and great way to see the highlights.

The location was convenient to the tour bus service which we were very pleased to learn about from the helpful front desk. The "hop on hop off" tour bus is the way to sight see on your own schedule. Also, the front desk made excellent recommendations for restaurants near by. Room was clean and comfortable. All were friendly and helpful. Ciao!

The set up for family room worked well for us. The rooms were adjacent and both bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. We especially liked the breakfast in the morning with many choices and good service. Overall, this is a good hotel for the price.

It is a very basic hotel. Not what you expect of 4 stars even in Italy. Small room , poor maintanance.offered taxi to the airport at a too high cost.

Hotel Gambrius provided us with adjoining rooms with seperate baths and queen beds ... a sure rarity in Rome. The daily American breakfast that was included was both tasteful and a rare find in Rome. The staff was very helpful and the hotel and rooms were clean and somewhat elegant

This hotel is 10 minutes walk to Piazza della Republica metro station. There are many buses going to Termini Station. The hotel is clean, the breakfast is rich and various, the personnel are helpful and well mannered. The Lampada restaurant offers good prices and is nearby.

Convenient, and helpful staff. The only complaint we have was that their wireless internet did not work in the room and we had to sit in the lobby to access the internet. They said they were getting the repeaters installed soon, so this may not be an issue.

Rooms were clean but very small. Could not find room for 2 carry on bags and had to store one on top of the wardrobe. Certainly not a 4 star rated hotel.

If you simply want a room with a bed, then this is the hotel for you. The view from the room was of an alley with garbage, the AC didn't work very well, the bed was comfortable, the shower small, but water ran. The location was pretty good, though there are hotels closer to the metro which I would recommend. The service desk personnel were friendly enough.

Arrived in rome and took a shuttle to the train. Solicted us at airport and was same price it was a saturday so no traffic. Cab wanted 20.00 euro. from train station. Went to bus information and took a bus right to my hotel for 1 euro. Don't take a cab from terminal train station rip off. Unless you find a more resonable cab. Great staff and a great breakfast. the location right a park and a little bit of a walk to the sites. Cab are resonable in town.

the hotel was your typical european smaller hotel. breakfast was great! the area is not far from the trevi fountain, spanish steps, piazza del popolo, train station, etc. They were very helpful at the front desk with ways to get around the city to all of the sites. the room was quite small but was clean and nice.

The hotel is nice and clean, but the rooms are so small (not just Europe small, but small to people that live in Europe) and covered in this fabric wall paper that made me feel like Virginia Woolf. Great location if you plan to use the Rome train station.

Not a luxury hotel but then again not a luxury price. We were happy with our stay. The staff were helpful and most sights are within walking distance unless you have small children. Metro was 5 minutes walk away in any case. Would consider staying here again.

Hotel Gambrinus is a good deal. It was clean, staff was friendly, and it was conveniently located close to Roma Termini and within walking distance to Centro Storico. If you really like walking, you can pretty much walk to everything (which I did). For all you Americans, keep in mind it is a typical European hotel, so it's very small. I had no issues with this. Breakfast in the morning was just fine. To get to and from the hotel, take the Leonardo Express train from the airport into Roma Termini. From there it's about a 10 minute walk if that. I would definitely recommend this hotel, it was an excellent deal!

Very nice stay in Gambrinus. Close enough to center at a good price. Very friendly service both in room and at the front desk. Excellent breakfast, good air conditioning (our stay was in july). A little on the small side, but aren't all european hotels?

seriously guys, u are better off throwing ur money down the drain rather than staying at this place. I stayed there for 3 nights ending 20th June & had the worst experience ever. Where do i start??? 1. the bathroom had a shower cubicle which was collapsible but once opened, u couldn't use the loo!thats still OK but the shower cubicle had no partition from the bathroom so every time u shower, the whole bathroom floor gets flooded. when i told this to hotel staff, they were unhelpful & shrugged it off saying, this is the way it is. 2. They had disposable glasses in the bathroom but the water in the sink is not drinkable,it had visible rust coming out. we had to buy bottled water at our expense for 3 days. 3. The note on the bar fridge clearly said that if u store anything of urs in the bar fridge, it will incur a 20 Euro fee..I am not kidding. 4. The room was located next to the shaft & it was noisy as hell. There are other things as well but I have stayed at cheaper hotels that offer a better experience than the Gambrinus.. Save ur money & stay elsewhere. Ash

Nice desk clerk at check in but the rest of the staff was fairly rude. The hotel is not located near metro stops and is about 5 blocks from termini station. The room itself was nice but he bathroom had mold and an incredibly small shower.

they said that the room includes double bed, but the room they gave it to me was small VERY SMALL i couldnt move with my laugage on the floor, overall its clean hotel qnd the staff are very friendly and helpful , good location , 15 minutes walking distqnce away from Piazza Di Espagna ,

The hotel was wonderful!!! The staff was fantastic, rooms were nice and comfortable. The breakfast/bruch served was the nice, standard type served in hotels. We had a small crisis, and the staff was very helpful!! I recommend this hotel to anyone. The location was great, not noisy and transportation/walking not a problem. Some people may feel the shower is small, but it was nice for us. Also the staff speaks wonderful english!!!

The most important things - safety, cleanliness, and comfort in the hotel - were just great. A firm bed, clean bathroom, clean room, electronic keys, front desk manned 24h/day. Plus, it was close enough to the Termini station to walk (abt 10 min on foot with bags), and far enough not to hear any trains or deal with safety issues around the station. The walk to most sites was pleasant, abt 20 min to the Trevi Fountain or the Spanish Steps, but much farther to the Forum or St. Peter's (more like 40 min). But those who don't like to walk can take the metro at Porta Pia or Termini. For walkers, it was great. The only real drawbacks were the service - almost always helpful and friendly, except for one member of staff who was particularly unwelcoming and unpleasant (but v. efficient) - and the buffet breakfast. It was copious, but just frankly not very good. Coffee and juice out of a machine, runny eggs... not worth the 8 €, and not up to the reputation of Italian cuisine. They should stick to what they do best: a good cup of coffee and some good croissants would have been enough, which we found about 2 blocks away on the Via 20 Settembre for much less. The elevator is also ridiculously slow, and there are no accessible stairs to the upper floors except for emergencies. On the whole, though, a very positive experience, one I would repeat, with just a few changes to be made for a perfect one.

The staff at the front desk not that helpful-this hotel is not very convenient location wise-breakfast had scrambled eggs and bacon which was good. The cab from the Roma termini should take around 15 euros -on my way back to the train station i just took the bus which is more convenient right from across the street.The nearby subway stops are at least 15-20 mins of walk away. I did not like the open bus tours-it just meant long waits and long circuitous routes-the major sites in Rome are within walking distance of each other (everything within couple of kilometers)so it maybe better walking once you get to lets say the trevi fountain etc.

Having stayed in Rome more than once, this hotel is a very good deal. It is clean, well maintained, and located in a good area. There are several restaurants and trattorias located within walking distance. The local buses stop in the same block as the hotel. It is in a quiet neighborhood. The complimentary breakfast is a hybrid of American and European. There is a good selection and the food is fresh. There is an elevator (which is not always the case in Italian hotels) so moving luggage is not an issue. Although checkin is after 2:00 pm, the hotel staff made an extra effort to get us in our rooms as soon as possible when we arrived around 9:00 am. If rooms are not available, one can wait comfortably in the lobby. Checkin and Checkout are smooth and, as always, some of the desk personnel are more helpful than others. The desk staff are relatively fluent in several languages, so they are responsive to questions. If there was any downside it would be the in room air conditioning. We were there in August and it was brutally hot in the city. The lobby is very comfortable, but the rooms are very warm. The lower the floor, the more bearable it is. However, my experience has been that Americans are more used to chilled air so anything less feels uncomfortable. Overall, this is a very good hotel for the price.

Hotel staff speak English and were courtesy, although they do not go too much out of their way to be friendly. Included Full english breakfast was satisfactory, didn't expect much more from a budget hotel in Rome. Bed is extremely hard, like sleeping on a soft board. Shower was extremely small, no tub so if you are a large person, good luck to you. Worse part of room, it was very hot in August in Rome, the "air conditioning" did not work up to American standards in was very uncomfortable in the room to sleep or rest in. For the cost of the room and location of hotel, it's a real toss up if I would ever stay there again, especially in the summer. However, for Rome it is probably ok during the cooler months.

We were not impressed by the Hotel Gambrinus. Our room smelled of cigarette smoke even though we'd requested a non-smoking room. The bathroom was tiny and the shower head was so uneven it actually hurt to hop under it! The breakfast was very ordinary. When we checked out they tried to charge us for movies which we did not watch. Also when we first arrived, someone had left a ladder in our room. We were not impressed with the hotel, would not recommend it and will not return.

I have stayed at Hotel Gambrinus several times. It is usually good value for its location, OK rooms, and good included breakfast. However, this was the only time I got upset because I told the front desk that I would have late check out at 12 pm. The front desk approved my request. When I got back at 12 pm, I found that they took my luggage out (without my presence) and put it in the storage room. I was outraged. I yelled at the front desk lady who apologized. I had to re-organize my belongings and take things out of the safe. It was so annoying that strangers touched my personal belongings.

Quite a walk to the nearest Metro station or the nearest tourist sight. Many have already commented on the small shower stall, so I was prepared for that.

Hotellet är fräscht, tillhandahåller god service och frukost. Däremot var det synd att man var tvungen att använda hissen (ganska liten och långsam) för att komma till sin våning. Trapphuset var för personalen enbart (och i nödlägen). Men i slutändan gjorde det ingenting. Rummet kunde bli lite kvavt efter natten. Osäker på om luftkonditioneringen fungerade optimalt. På sommaren skulle det nog bli alldeles för varmt (var där i mars). Annars var allt bra för några dagars vistelse. Man är ju mest ute och upptäcker Rom i alla fall ;-)

Bra frukostbuffe, Restaurangen rakt över gatan från hotellet hade fantastiskt goda stenugnsbakade pizzor.

Hotel impeccable - Accueil 24/24 chaleureux - Chambre familiale véritablement spacieuse (seule la vue sur cour n'est pas terrible) - Petits déjeuners copieux et Une pizzéria juste en face absolument délicieuse... 10 minutes à pied des deux lignes de métro Bref, c'est avec plaisir et là que nous retournerons !

객실이 너무 춥습니다. 직원에게 이야기 했더니 히터를 점검해 주었는데 아무 이상이 없다고 하더군요. 그래도 너무 추워 패딩까지 입고 잤습니다. 또 한가지 불편한 점은 콘센트가 맞지 않아 프런트에 문의했더니 일렉트로니 샵에 가서 제게 맞는 콘센트를 구입하라고 하더군요. 보통은 호텔에서 렌탈을 해 주던데 당황스러웠습니다. 결국 10유로 주고 샀는데 그 후 다른 호텔에서는 필요가 없어 그냥 가지고 있습니다.
