There was no effort to understand the needs/concerns of the customer, the staff were prejudiced and very unhelpful. the room was smelling of cigarette smoke and the heaters werent working, the complimentary breakfast wasnt available with the booking. Overall a very bad experience and would not want go back again

Located in a superb spot only a two minute walk from Lime Street station, the Adelphi Hotel is beyond a doubt the grandest of all Liverpool hotels. A great favourite of Sir Harold Wilson who had his Merseyside Headquarters in room 101, hence the plaque on the door. Also a great favourite of Charles Dickens you could say the hotels grandeur stems from its long and distinguished history. A discreet but major refurbishment is taking place throughout with modernisation of all rooms, though obviously this cannot be done over night.

2nd stay at this hotel....chosen for location....walking distance to Lime St. RR station and most major sites, ie... Liverpool Philharmonic, Albert Dock,Cavern Club etc. Requested quiet area because of previous summer crowd making noise outside hotel until wee areas....was provided a room adjacent to the lifts...which I heard all night long. Room was overheated... was unable to adjust heating.... this was probably why room window was found open though it was chily outside.....requested wake-up call was not received..... Breakfast buffet was very good. however.

This hotel was close to the railway station but not close to much else other than pubs. It is clean and comfortable but in major need of a spruce up. I was a little disconcerted about the escort service business card that was placed under the door overnight.

I am writing this review because I think you need to know that the treatment that we recieved was really bad & thing need to change. We booked a two bedroom run of the house non smoking room only to be assigned two seperate bedrooms, on talking to the staff they informed us that there were no such rooms. thinking we must have miss understood we proceeded to our rooms. Even though one of the rooms was nice my room stunk of cigarette smoke & when I spoke to the staff they again informed me that asking for a non smoking room is only a request but not a guarantee & that since the hotel was almost booked out they said they could only give us another room but on the smoking floor. After speaking to the manager the next day we were moved to a non smoking room ( I did appreciate the help we got from him & he was extremely helpful), but when we were leaving we discovered that the room we did request was available as it was situated right next door to our room. On returning home we have discovered that we paid for the two bedroom run of the house room but got two seperate bedrooms. I know this was a very busy weekend but I felt as we paid for two nights ( saturday & Sunday night & not the Friday Saturday night) we were given what was left & not what we had requested, the hotel really need to look at their staff & make sure they take better care of their customers, my sisters & I did a road trip of England & I found your hotel the most expensive place with the worse customer care that we came across & will not recommend your hotel to anyone.

I stayed at the Adelphi for one night in March 2012. I had been wanting to visit for a long time and was not disappointed. The public areas have been really well and faithfully refurbished and the bedroom, which was extremely spacious, had retained its period charm. I would definitely recommend a visit and a walk around all floors, with a great view down from the top landing.

This hotel was very nice, great location and very comfortable. However, on arrival we noticed a bottle top behind the curtain and a showel gel lid in the bathroom, so it was obviously not cleaned to a very high standard. Also, we were unable to open our window as it was a very hot weekend; but also being a huge risk if there had been a fire, we only had one exit back into the hotel.

Good value hotel, in a great location - must have been a wonderful hotel in its hey day

This hotel offers great value and is in a great location near liverpool lime st station. The hotel staff are extreemly friendly. The breakfast is available for a half price rate if paid for when you arrive. Only fault I would have would be the cleaner trying to get in the rooms constantly from 9am whencheck out is at 11am

cheapest, at centre of the city, nice and helpful staffs.

My husband wanted to stay at the Adelphi during our trip through Liverpool because it was recommended by his favorite travel author. We were not disappointed. We had a lovely stay. We were there for only one night so can't speak on it's comfort as a long-stay accommodation. The old rooms were beautiful and well appointed. The bathroom was clean and functional. the staff was friendly and helpful. Only complaints: the bed was too hard for our taste and the bar downstairs (can't recall the name) was tatty (stained seats, trash on floors, etc.). Thanks so much

This hotel is close to what we needed in Liverpool, but I didn't get much sleep (which is the whole purpose of a hotel). The beds were horrible. You could feel every spring in the mattress. The "double" bed is actually two singles pushed together but the blanket they give you won't cover two people unless you both squeeze onto a single bed. It was too hot in our room in Feb. and we couldn't adjust the temp and our window didn't open. Then what topped it off, was our room was on the 5th floor and the elevators were so old, it took about 10 mins just for it to get to your floor and usually by then it was full of people. We only used it once on arrival and then took the stairs the rest of the time. I was exhausted after my "weekend away for relaxation" was over. Oh, if you bring your car. You can park it at the hotel for 12gbp/day but don't think you'll get to use your car at all while you are there. Their "garage" is pretty much a storage building.

The hotel was close to city center and lime street station. For the askingprice, the room standard and hotel was quite adequate. I would recommend the hotel and consider staying there again. Just remember, this is not a 5 star hotel :-)

The hotel is situated in an ideal location in Liverpool. Its very close to a lot of bars and restaurants and only a short taxi trip to Matthew Street. The hotel is very cheap to stay in, but it is desperate need of a renovation. The main foyer is nice enough, and the exterior is impressive, but the rooms are terrible. Its very dated and miserable looking. Its an ideal hotel for stag parties/lads weekends, etc. But I wouldn't book in for Valentine's weekend however.

A very large hotel from the bygone days, a favourite with the coach holiday operators. Nevertheless it offers good service, is clean and reasonably smart and is in a great location in the centre of the city.

Overall satisfactory stay considering the budget price.I wouldn't stay in that room for more than a couple of nights though, very small and hard to move around,getting out of bed on one side involved butting the wall!wasted storage shelves and cupboards by window as most inaccessible. TV should be on a bracket on the wall and all that shelf and cupboard space should be ripped out to make more room.No instructions on how the three lights worked and as no ceiling light it was awkward entering in the dark, so we left light on until we worked it out. No clothes hook in bathroom and insufficient shelf space for toiletries. The bed was very comfortable, the room clean, the staff great and I would recommend it for a short stay any time.

Had a lovely stay at the Adelphi for first ever visit to Liverpool. The hotel was in the old grand style of yesterday and we had fun imagining what it must have been like in its hey day. Some of the decor had now seen better days, but it felt very comfortable and felt like going back in time, although it had all the mod cons any new boutique hotel can offer. Loved the size of the twin room - we could have held a party in there, it was so big, which made a lovely change from the tiny rooms you find elsewhere these days. We had a corner room so had fantastic view over the city. Gym and pool on site too. Only minus was that we couldn't control the heating and it became very hot during the night so we had to open the windows, which allowed all the street noise in. Was very noisy during the night (and on a Monday!) but we think that we were near student accommodation, so maybe that's why people were still wandering about into the early hours. All in all, we had a smashing time and would go back to the Adelphi

+ Good central location in Liverpool for a good price - Car park cost 6 pounds from 6pm-9am. If you park your car before that time, you will be charged an extra day; bummer :- ( - The English breakfast buffet is not delicious. It was tough for me to eat, and I could not look at the buffet bar as I left for fear that I would get sick.

hotel is old fashioned but was a beautiful place in its time i'd say. 4 of us went for christmas shopping. 2 of the beds very uncomfortable but other 2 ok. clientele inclined to be mid 60's. not a place for the young. Could understand why the place could not be updated due to the huge scale of the place and especially in the current climate.Staff were nice, especially the girls. helpful and courteous.the windows in our room kept opening in the middle of the night cos it was very stormy weather.However the price was very good and the location fantastic for our visit. very near the station and ideal for a short stay. all in all it was grand.

Good central position and conveinient for Lime Street Station which is 5 minutes walk. Lots of nightlife, eating places of all varietys, music bars, pubs and shops in walking distance. A lovely old building but some rooms do need updating overall i would reccomend.

very close to the train station.But also close to pubs and the main road, which makes the room very noisy for sleeping. Everything else is fine.

A classic hotel, central and capable of excellent value. My stay was good, friendly staff and comfy room.

The hotel is in a perfect location right by the lime street train station and plenty of shops/restaurants/pubs. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. However the room wasn't too fancy. And they put me in a room next to the elevator, so the sounds from the lift were constantly heard. Be aware of that when they assign your room. For a single traveler it worked as all I cared for was the location, the heater worked, and I could get free wifi from the lounge area.

Arriving at the Adelphi I was served by great friendly staff who were very helpful and friendly (especially when i asked for directions), The room was very basic and very pleasant, the only negative aspect about the room was the tv is small and isnt visible when lying down in bed.

Great location! Close to liverpool 1 and main shops. Even closer to liverpool lime street train station! Quality of the rooms are great, makes you feel like you are staying in a stately home. Only criticism is the lack of proper showers. Amazing big bath though! Stayed in the travel lodge the night after, nowhere near as good for around the same price! Book it!

The Adelphi is located in a great position in Liverpool city centre close to everything. Unfortunately the rooms are a little dated and the hotel generally needs modernising. The rates are good though.

Grand old hotel. Everything was pretty old fashioned (in a nice way) - big high ceilings in the room, old fashioned fixtures and fittings, a fireplace in the room, classy decor, massive bathroom (albeit a bit cold and plain) big wide hallways, impressive lounge/hall area, etc etc. Staff were nice - luckily I'm English so could understand the Scouse accents - my American wife on the other hand was left a bit confused by some of the staff's accents ;) Only shortcoming was that perhaps there was a patch of flakey paint on one of the cupboard doors and on the bathroom ceiling, but it wasn't a big deal to me. We only really chose this place because we booked it at short notice, and it still had rooms available (and cheap ones at that). All in all though, I'm glad we picked it - a far more characterful stay than staying at an Ibis/Holiday Inn/Travel Lodge type place.

The Adelphi Hotel is the perfect hotel to stay and visit Liverpool. It is so central. The staff are delightful and helpful and I would stay aain. This was my second stay

We stayed for one night in this hotel, whis was very convenience for us as we had a compestition over the weekend in Echo Arena. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone who stay for the same reason. During the night there was a wedding in the hotel, the music for extremely loud, we could not sleep until 1.30am, and we have to wake up by 6am for the competation. Phoned up reception couple of of times, they just said that is normal! They did not seemed to be care!

The Adelphi is synonomous with Liverpool, and has to be seen to be believed, gently faded luxuery. Ideal position, Pub next door,also a work of art, and 5mins away The Philharmonic, breathtaking with the only grade1 Gents in England. I will certainly be back.

This hotel was very good! Nice big rooms and in the perfect location right by liverpool lime street station. The hotel is very grand and a fun experience for a few days stay :)

Big problems with the lifts at this hotel! I'm not sure if it's just the volume of traffic or mechanical problems, but my daughter and I had to walk the five flights of stairs with our luggage to our room, and also walk down the five flights the following day. An inconvenience for us, but a massive problem for the elderly people I saw struggling to do the same. No one on hand to help. I was really worried about the couple I saw, clearly the elderly gentleman was struggling with their case. Having got my own luggage to carry I could only offer to get down stairs and see if someone could go and help him - I overheard one comment from a member of staff "there are no problems people are just impatient". However we queued for around twenty minutes, and the lifts were just going up and down between the upper floors. Whatever the reason, clearly there is a problem at checkout time in the mornings which needs addressing. And help needs to be on hand for the older guests. I believe this hotel has around 7 floors so an operational lift is a necessity.

well when i book online i see many good rooms but when i get there the room they had given me, i see the room was very small which i dont like it was like a box room you enter the room and the room finished there. what the use of paying lots and you got a small box. so i dont recommend this hotel

A very warm welcome when we arrived. We were early so couldn't check in but were immediately offered the facility to leave our bag. The room was light, airy and clean. Hotel only a 5 minute walk from Lime Street station, and in a good location to get around the city. Would definitely stay here again.

I really love this old Edwardian hotel, with the beautiful shandaliers and main lounge. The modern electronic door opening that I really had no problem with unlike other hotels. The breakfast is out this world superb especially with whole mushrooms. It is ideal for all the venues used by Beatle Week. When I am in Liverpool I don't want to return to horrible despicable snobby Tory town Basingstoke.
