Everything was great!

Great hotel staff...valet parking attendent was very friendly and helpful...hotel check in was great, simple and easy.

Close to SF Ferry for easy City access. Avoid the attached Restuarant. Have stayed at this hotel many times and each time the service at Ms Pearls Restuarant is poor and the food below average. But the hotel is perfect if you want to ferry over to SF and the Pier.

Loved the overall look and feel of the hotel. It's not super-close to BART, and the neighborhood is dicey at night for walking alone, but there are some great restaurants in walking distance, and the trains weren't too noisy. Would definitely stay here again. Ask for a "city view" room overlooking the square and the marina, fantastic view for a much lower price.

Nighttime revelers coming from a local concert distrupted our first night of sleep, partying until the wee hours in adjacent rooms. We complained to managment who resolved the situation for our second night's stay. Overall a good experience in a pretty decent location with nice veiws of the marina and several good restaurants nearby.

This hotel was great in many ways - very unique concept, awesome location, great views, excellent restaurant (but overpriced), and generally great staff. However, their parking situation is very guest-unfriendly. The attendants are poorly identified, one of whom walked up to my wife and startled her with a very aggressive statement that she may not park her own vehicle. The signage does not indicate this to be the case, and the person was so belligerent that when she could no longer wait to use the bathroom (hey, you ladies get it) while he chastised her without providing a customer-oriented compromise (how about, "go ahead miss, I'll watch your vehicle for you and we'll find parking to meet your needs when you are ready"), she accepted the forced 20 dollar valet service to make it to the restroom on time. To the hotel's credit, on check-out the front desk attendant nulled the charge, although to their discredit, the attendant was aloof about it. So....fun hotel, and mostly positive comments, but that one was a pis-ser. [I had to put that hyphen there because the website said my review contains inappropriate language] It really put a drain on our weekend. Out of puns now.

We stayed at the hotel because we had plans in the nearby area, including Yoshi's jazz club a block away. We asked for a quiet room and got a north end unit. This turned out to be fortunate because an Amtrak commuter train runs regularly one block to the east. With the fan on continuous operation, and probably reduced runs during the night, we were not bothered by the train whistles.

Nice hotel, good location, clean rooms. Stay was good other than I forgot my medicine in the room when I checked out and they said nothing was there.

we stayed at the waterfront for a couple of nights on our honeymoon in the bay area and it was wonderful :). the staff was very nice and very rarely have i had a waiter as good as the one we had in miss pearl's, awesome food and service!

Business or leisure, I highly recommend the Waterfront. Great service, exceptional staff and great amenities. You can't beat free hot breakfast and daily wine and cheese hour either!

I stayed 2 nights at the Waterfront and would definitely recommend the hotel. The hotel staff was friendly and professional, and my room was spacious, clean and comfortable. I had a water view room which faced west towards San Francisco. I heard the trains occasionally, but they didn't interrupt my sleep. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was fine, but I would have preferred a tub. The complimentary breakfast was very good (great variety of items!) The Jack London Square location is perfectly situated for exploring the entire Bay Area. I will definitely come back to the Waterfront.

Hotel was cute, staff was friendly but I didn't interact with them much. I ordered a waterfront view and that's what I got: we could see the dock/jetty and my parter really enjoyed keeping an eye out for ducks. Decor was cute. King room had a couch which is nice. No overnight parking anywhere in the whole neighborhood. Valet is $20/night. There are some bars and restaurants nearby - the in-house restaurant was closed due to fire or flood. Neighborhood is pretty safe at night, I didn't see any cop activity or hoodlums. I would stay again.

The hotel is on the older side, but well maintained. The staff is outstanding; helpful, poliite and accommodating.

The staff was friendly and the room was clean. It was in the square so it was close to all the restaurants and a block away from nightclubs, other restaurants and a movie theater. Other than the outlying neighborhood the stay was excellent.

We stayed here while we had some work done on our house. We were blown away with how nice the place was. We were a little nervous because the price posted online seemed to cheap. Great water views, good breakfast, friendly staff. It's located about 200 yards from the ferry to SF, with easy valie parking. If you don't need to stay in SF, this is a gret hotel in a nice walk able district.

The staff was very helpful and friendly . Had a great room overlooking Jack London square. Will be staying there again

Everything was great

My wife and I were very pleased with the service of the hotel staff. The Valet Parking Attendant, Doorman, Continental Breakfast Room Attendant and the Room Maids were over the top with their attentiveness to service and their friendly and cheery presentation. In our opinion, the front desk staff were OK, just not up to the level of the other hotel service people. Excellent place to relax Plenty of shopping and dining close by. Excellent Service from the Hotel Staff !!! Thank you

I love how JVD hotels make such great changes with paint, wallpaper, and fabric. Much more attractive than most new hotels as a result! The room was huge, clean, full of amenities; the windows were soundproof so the trains a block away didn't bother us in the least; the staff was friendly and super helpful. The neighborhood is safe and there are a number of dining and amusement options around. It's a particularly nice place to stay with children, I'd say, though also really good for couples who will be exploring either Oakland or San Francisco. The Amtrak station is less than 10 mins away along a very well-lighted broad street. The ferry to SF/Alameda is even closer. There is enough to do in the area to keep you busy for a day (visit the Potomac!) and it's convenient enough to hop on over to SF. You can also walk or take the free B bus to the BART station about 10 short blocks away. We'll probably use this as our base for future Bay Area trips -- got so much more for our lodging $$ than I ever have in SF, and really enjoyed our stay here. I highly recommend it.

Reason for our one night stay was to see Joe Bonamassa play at the Paramount Theater. Hotel was a short drive to the Paramount yet located at the entrance of Jack London Square. Best of both worlds at this location. Enjoyed a fabulous steak dinner at Scott's Seafood that were still talking about. Breakfast at the Buttercup Grill, a short block's distance was the perfect ending. Only three complaints: $20 per night parking fee, difficulty in setting the heater/AC, and no smoking rooms or on the balcony. But I would stay here again.

I travel a lot for work and the Waterfront is my favorite hotel, not just in Oakland, but in all of my travels. The staff's commitment to making you feel like their most important customer is amazing. Daily wine and cheese hour after work, and now a complimentary hot breakfast. A great place to stay for work or pleasure.

I stay in alot of hotels 4 star and above- this hotel is Soo wonderfully friendly the staff go out of their way to make you comfortable. Everything is very clean and comfortable I love staying at this hotel.

It is always a pleasure to stay at the Waterfront Plaza. We loved the room location (waterfront / ferry dock / San Francisco view in distance). It was especially nice to have daily breakfast (buffet) included. The front desk called it a Continental Breakfast, but it was much more than that. We were never there to take advantage of the wine and cheese (5pm to 6pm). So, we can only imagine how nice it would have been.

Everything about this hotel was quite fine, but the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff were outstanding. The complimentary breakfast was also delightful.

Love Love Love this hotel. Love the decor, location and the customer service. Would come back and would recommend to my friends. Too bad the restaurant wasn't available, I heard Mrs. Pearl Jam was very good. The complimentary breakfast food on Sunday was pretty tasty.

We were disappointed in the hotel and the service attached. The resturant was down for repairs, the parking was 20.00/day and that was more than our car rental. We were told it was the onlly place we could park. The rooms were dusty, and closed up and dark. The decks needed cleaning. All of the stores and shops were not open and so it was bascially a waste of time. We would not stay there again...until they take the time to make it a place to want to stay...

One of our favorite hotels, and we stay in about 60 hotel rooms a year for business. Great place. Friendly staff.

I gave a low rating based on the noise... I stayed on the first floor but could not sleep because of people walking and talking next to my window... I had to move to another floor staff was nice about it. On second floor i could hear my neighboors and ac was very loud. Besides that everything was good.

We were only there for one night, but I was very comfortable. The decor provided character that a corporate hotel doesn't and the location is a quick walk to many restaurants.

I would stay here again if I'm in need of a hotel in this area. The room was very clean and the desk staff very accommodating. The bed was reasonably comfortable. Certainly not the best but not nearly close to the worst I've slept in at hotels. The pillows were great. Some of the decor was a little dated but nothing one can't overlook for the price. The area was quiet and the harbor view was pleasant in the morning as the sun was coming up. I used room service for breakfast. The food was very good and reasonably priced. I'm glad I choose this hotel.

Staying at the waterfront so beats staying in San Francisco and dealing with the traffic and people walking anywhere, anytime they want. You don't hae to deal with parking when you can take the Ferry over from Oakland/Alameda. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who asks me... Love it!!

This is a great hotel for business or personal travel. I am in Oakland for a week every other month and always stay here. Their shuttle will take you anywhere, there are great dining options everywhere you turn, the staff is friendly and ready to get you what you need. Every weekday they have a free wine and cheese happy hour and the ferry to San Francisco is 50 feet from the front door.

This hotel has seen its good times long ago. Shiny from the outside, very ugly from the inside. Pricy (valet only) parking, fearsome neighborhood, dirty rooms (found more than 10 hairs in the room), very loud (train runs next to hotel). I would never stay there again.

The balcony wraps around and there is a marina view from everywhere. The room was nice with a fireplace and the bed was comfortable. The staff was really nice. The restaurant had a great brunch. You can't beat the location, on the waterfront in Jack London Square.

Great older hotel right on the water (inner SF Bay) and near lots of stuff with easy transportation. Also a great restaurant. Only downside is proximity to train station. If you don't like the sound of a train in the night, could be a problem. Personally it is a very comforting sound so didn't distrub us at all. Enjoy!!!!

Bay views walk to nice dinning. Easy access to SFO and OAK. Very nice room comfy bed.

Great staff, beautiful location on the marina, quiet area, big rooms, friendly, clean, Catch the fairy or Bart and you're in San Francisco quick and easy. Rooms are nice and the staff is great!!!!! I've stayed here many times before on business, This time I came back for pleasure.
