BEST WESTERN IMPERIAL HOTEL - قلعة ويليام

Pros: Right across the highway from the lake, plenty of places to eat within easy walking distance (pedestrian zone a block away), 10 min drive to Ben Nevis Distillery, 30 min to Stalker Castle, near the "Harry Potter" train. Cons: Older hotel, no elevator, no AC (had to prop the window open with a book to have just 5 in of opening), bed was worn, lights were very dim, carpets worn.

We were at the hotel only as a stopover and in that sense it was fine and price was good. It was quite basic but comfortable and clean. It was close to restaurants and had a bar downstairs. We were on about the third floor and it was a windy lot of steps - around 45 of them and we had heavy luggage so we opted for assistance. There was no lift. Breakfast was basic. The staff were very nice. Wifi did not work at all but were told it normally did.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to the train and bus station so you can walk, but a taxi ride (if you have luggage) is only a little over 2 pounds. The room was adequate and quiet. The Wifi was down and the manager actually called me to apologize for the problem. No elevators so pack light! I enjoyed my stay and I hope to return in the future.

No complaints, helpful service and first class bar.

My sister and I spent two nights at the BWI in Fort William. The building is over 150 years old, so one can't expect an American-style interior of long, Shining-esque straight hallways. There are lots of stairwells and small landings, but no lift of which i am aware, so I would not recommend it for people with accessibility needs. Our room was small, but clean and suitable for the only needs one has for a hotel in Fort William, which are sleeping and showering. The staff were all polite, and were very accommodating when we needed to leave our bags in their charge for half a day after checkout due to our train schedule. We did not eat at the restaurant because the standard mains were expensive, and the alternative of an on-site curry bar was not to our tastes at the time. This was not a big problem, however, because the BWI is literall across the atreet from Crofters Pub, which has aome if the beat Value for money food in Fort William. The proximity of the hotel to the high street and train station is perhaps its beat feature. Overall, the BWI a good place to stay for a few night, just be aware that dining off site will be your beat option for food unless you like curry.

Ideally situated in the middle of town very handy for the railway station and the pubs and resteraunts. A bit noise from the street but no worse than anywhere on a saturday night. only criticism was the shower was mounted to low on the wall but other than that good.

Room was nice and clean and the hotel itself was ok. Location is good, but on the down side because of the location there is a lot noise coming from outside. Cars, bars and drunken people might disturb your sleep. Also, the service could have been a lot better.

Small but comfortable single room, friendly and helpful staff, quiet for a good sleep (not always true of town centre hotels on a Saturday night), good breakfast. Happy to stay there if in Fort William again.

It's the stupidest penny-pinching idea I've ever heard of for a business whose sole job is to provide somewhere for people to sleep to buy beds which make said sleep all but impossible, but it seems to happen in many hotels. This place is no exception, with rock-hard being the default mattress option in whichever catalgue they shop in. The shower door didn't open outwards, due to some rather idiotic carpentry in an otherwise surprisingly luxurious bathroom, making it impossible to turn the shower on unless you were standing under it. The in-room, wall-mounted televisions were clearly chosen without any thought as to how they would be used, being too cheaply made to have a decent viewing angle, making viewing from in-bed rather an interesting visual experience. The manufacturer also felt that a nice, big, blue light was the best way to inform all and sundry that the device was currently off; an irritation at night that can fortunately be overridden once you find the secret wall switch and cut the power (a hint, it's the plug with a wire that dissapears into the same wall). It's not all bad though. The reception areas are nice and and the hotel is surprisingly quiet, given the proximity to the main road. The dining areas are also good, and the smells wonderful. I'll probably go back sometime, but I'll be asking if they have bought new beds and got a new carpenter beforehand.

The hotel is located between a busy pub street and main road, therefore don't expect much sleep unless your room is away from an outside wall. The single room I booked for a business trip was tiny (the bathroom was bigger!). The TV received about 3 channels and the remote didn't work properly, the room was either incredibly cold or stupidly hot (but don't open a window because of the noise on the street outside). Not a hotel I'd recommend unless everywhere else was booked. WiFi was advertised throughout the hotel as was parking (one of the main reasons I chose this place for a work base). The WiFi only worked in reception (meaning late nights sat downstairs whilst writing emails), and the parking consists on about 6 spaces (unless local residents have already got there first). The staff appeared bored, and nobody smiled at me during the whole stay. Service was poor, with most responses consisting if 'sorry, it does not work' or 'sorry, we cannot do that'. I'm glad to say I will never stay at this hotel again, after discovering a Premier Inn about 0.5 miles up the road.

I spent a night here before climbing Ben Nevis. The hotel is just off the A82 with free parking. My hotel room was small, but cheap and clean. There was a restaurant downstairs so I could have a meal and there was also free wifi. The hotel staff had my room key waiting for me, and I think it took about a minute for me to get fully checked in. Similar times for checking out the following morning, very efficient.
