I was worried when I saw it because it faced a very busy expressway. We had a room at the back that did not face the street but it had no view which was ok. Just make sure that you get a room at the back that does not face the street and then you will sleep well. All else was good.

Pretty rooms, incredibly friendly and helpful staff, excellent food in the restaurant and a location that is really convenient for all the `sights', and also for the airport. The only down side is its proximity to the highway.

Nice hotel, nice staff. Very noisy location near 95 & Bus Terminal

We love the Penns View ...the location is great, on the waterfront and within easy walking distance to South Street and our favorite eatery, Jim's Steaks. The hotel has a European charm to it... decor is well appointed and well maintained ... great complimentary breakfast ...make-your-own waffles! Super comfortable bed, spacious, well appointed bathroom. Highly recommend.

Located close to the historical district, the hotel offers great value for what you get. A lovely room, very clean, a window that opens onto a small balcony, a very comfy bed and the next morning a beautiful breakfast. Located next to the historical district and eateries with the famous Phillie Cheesesteaks, you can't go wrong. A word of warning, the hop on hop off bus was very unreliable. Other than the Rocky Steps, give it a miss! Grab a cab or subway instead to see the steps!

It's a bit difficult to reach, with one-way streets and the adjacent highway, but worth it. For Independence Park (and the excellent new Jewish museum), the walk is only 5 or 6 blocks. Parking next door is $21 a day. Our room was spacious (though the carpet was a bit grungy). Very good free continental breakfast, including eggs to boil (need that protein) and waffle machine. Definitely would consider Penn's View again.

If you are looking for a boutique style hotel in Philadelphia, this is it. Great staff, great location, nicely appointed rooms. Easy walk to most historic sites and all types of restaurants. We had a great lunch at the City Tavern. The staff at the Tavern let us look around at all the rooms after giving us a bit of the history of the reconstructed building. If you like Italian food, don't miss Paninni's at 317 Market Street. Fabulous food. The weather was so warm that we were able to eat outside in the early April evening. Paninni's is a B.Y.O.B place which was great on the budget. We took the local bus to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The bus station is located right next door to the hotel and could not have been more convenient. Don't miss touring the Eastern State Penitentary, about five blocks from the Museum.

We have got 3 perfect days in Philadelphia. The city is very nice, the hotel is very comfortable, clean, delicious breakfast, a romântico place in a historic city.

Really nice place...very pleasant...great restaurant adjacent..would definitely stay again

i adore this hotel. it is perfectly quaint and charming. the interior is small but lovely. rooms have simple, elegant old world charm, complete with actual room keys. the continental breakfast is superb. i had a very romantic weekend with my husband and this hotel was perfection. the neighborhood is so much fun to explore, lots of great places to go. galleries and resturants everywhere. the hotel is in a very historic part of town so make sure to explore all of the old side streets and alley ways. i really look forward to staying there again.

The hotel has the perfetct location to visit philly... easy check in, parking possibility next to the hotel, nice bars and restaurant in walking distance, and boiled eggs for breakfast..... for the price and the location a really good hotel...

To put in simple terms, It was one of a kind experience unlike any other and it would be a great place to stay for someone who is planning on spending the night. The room was very clean and well maintained. When you enter the room, it doesn't even feel like a hotel room but rather gives you the feeling that you are staying in a house. Overlooking the famous benjamin franklin bridge and the ocean, it is the perfect location for dining, shopping, and exploring. Many cuisines and sight seeing areas are located close by including the liberty bell. If you choose not to walk, you can always take the bus and the bus stop is located next to your parking lot. We only stayed one night but we wish we could stay another night. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I had a great time while staying here. It was convient to both bus and subway service aswell as being close to I-95. My room was comfortable and Clean which I enjoyed. All the staff were helpfull and if I had a question they were able to give helpful advise. I am looking forward to returning to Philadelphia and also to staying once more at the Penn's View Hotel. PS. If you can do try the Hotels' Resturant, Excellent food and an impressive wine celler to enjoy.

Hotel .com informed me that parking was free. When I got there I was informed that I had to pay a daily rate of $21 for parking which was "separate" from the hotel. A lot of street noise each morning. Cable was not working so they arranged to change my room, to a room with cable. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Location was good as it was within walking distance to most of the historical sites.

Me and my significant other stayed there this past friday and it was just wonderful, we had a balcony overlooking the river and it was pretty romantic I have to say!!!

Very friendly staff, homey/historical type decor - oriental rug, wood floor, white matelasse bedspread. Not a cookie cutter hotel. Nice breakfast, beautiful resaurant/bar.

We went here for our first wedding anniversary and it was great! Very clean, kind staff, beautiful room, etc. We will absolutely be staying here when we come to Philadelphia again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in our very comfortable and sunny room - location is great - walking distance to everything in Old CIty, but off the path enough that it is quiet. We already discussed this being our "go to" spot in Philly from now on.

My girlfriend and I stood at the Penn's View Hotel for a weekend getaway to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. This place is a true gem hidden In Philadelphia. This hotel is not like your typical big name chains out there. It's a quiet local spot with a more personal feel to it. Their rooms are cozy and comfortable and have a great rustic look to them. Our room had a very nice bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and great comfortable king size bed (that's the type of room that was reserved). Located in the Old City section of Philly, it's situated near the historic sites and surrounded by many good places to eat and have fun at. The staff there was courteous, helpful and informative. Overall we had an excellent experience and will be definitely staying there again next time we head back to Philly.

Perfect sized room for 2. Very quaint and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was better than expected. We had stayed at other hotels in the area, and we would choose Penns View again over the others.

The place is exactly what we needed, my sister and I came down for the Philly game and we needed a place to stay that is warm and cozy due to cold season.

I had a wonderful time walking around Society Hill. Highlight: chatting with the Sicilian owner of Lulu's pizza bar a few blocks from the hotel. GREAT PIZZA.

I love Old City Philadelphia...got to know this part of town while working on Washington Square for 13 years. I knew I wanted to see a film at one of the 3 nearby Ritz theaters and have dinner at my favorite Afgan restaurant on Chestnut Street (Kabul) so I set out to find affordable lodging for one week night. My pretty room-with-a-great-view had a lovely little balcony and was very reasonably priced, especially considering the complimentary breakfast. I wish I could have stayed longer....

this hotel was perfect for the weekend. many great restaurants and stores close by. the room was clean and had an old fashioned feeling to it. was on the small side but if you don't need to spend too much time in the room you won't notice. would definitely stay there again!

We really enjoyed ourselves. The hotel is old but clean. The staff was gracious. And we had a great meal at the restaurant attached to the hotel.

But the room itself made me wish I hadn't done a boutique hotel and instead stayed somewhere fresher, brighter. I was going to book at the Mandarin, which was the same price that weekend, but I didn't. Despite the quaintness of the building, location, and helpful staff, it sort of seemed like a budget hotel. I like boutique hotels, but the smaller scale usually means more attention to detail. The room was dark, with one lone window. The television was tiny enough that we couldn't really see it from the bed. Overall, the room was pretty depressing. Yes, there was some exposed brick, but also some pretty grotty wallpaper. The wine bar was interesting.

Always a pleasure to stay at the Penns View! Away from the hustle and bustle of center city in a cool historic neighborhood. My stay was for business but you can manage some pleasure as well when you stay in Old City. Very unique hotel with the best wine bar in the city (and great food!). Rate includes breakfast - awesome deal.

Stayed the night at Penn's Inn and would stay again. Great Proximity to I95, Olde City, and convienent parking right next door.

Very comfortable bed. Easy walking distance to all the historic sites and plenty of good bars around. Enjoyed the free hot chocolate in the lobby On such a cold weekend. Staff were polite but not extroverted which was perfect for us. Pleasant surprise to have a small balcony. Lots of charm (both good and a bit of the creaky elevator/rusty shower head type!). Would definitely stay here again.

Great location for Philly. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking to go out and about, and not looking to hang around the hotel. Not much to do at the hotel as the lobby is non-existant. Good value and very nice staff.
