hotel was fine except for the restaurant inside the hotel which was super slow on taking your order, bringing out your food and bringing the check. The slowest service i've had in my life. the staff was courteous just REALLY slow.

Valet service is a challenge...

I loved the hotel, very clean very nice will stay there again, just had a hard time leaving out and return over the weekend no police escorts to get people in and out, but other then that it was great 5 out of 5

Hotel was very clean, with a high quality of service. Food in restaraunt was a bit pricey but very good. Be sure to get the sky view, the city view can be quite noisy with highway traffic until late at night. Overall, enjoyed the hotel very much.

I STAY IN ALOT OF HOTELS AND I HAVE TO SAY THAT THIS ONE WAS AMAZING...FROM ARRIVING UNTIL MY DEPARTURE EVERYTHING WAS GREAT...I WILL DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN AND A BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE AT "HOTEL DEREK"

Room was very large and comfortable. Great view of the galleria!

Front desk staff were nice. We checked in Thursday and out Sunday morning. Housekeeping never came and cleaned the room. Not once! We had to keep calling for toilet paper and towels. Decent looking hotel, but I wouldn't stay there again.

It was great!! The service was great - the hotel was quiet. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews but everything was really awesome (even the towels). Will definitely stay here next time I am in Houston!

The hotel was great. Chic European in style. I'm glad I was warned that the only option for parking is the $19/night plus tax valet parking.

rate,location, service all exellent, specially the hotes.com service.everyone I talk to are above and beyond.

Very nice looking hotel, lobby and public spaces were very nice. Front desk staff very nice, and the location, in the Galleria area is great. I just lucked-up on a room that was showing it's age, and wasn't as "welcoming." The painting was bubbling off the bathroom door frames, rust on bath room pipe, sofa fabric in need of refresher. I am sure I would have loved another room at the same hotel. But, after arriving late, I just had to go to sleep,not shuffle.

If I am planning a bachelorette party in Houston this is where I'll stay, but it wasn't the right atmosphere for a business traveler. There are plenty of lower-priced hotels in Houston with free breakfast, free parking and no nightclub-goers, I just happened to book my trip too late The front desk staff was very helpful when I needed to change rooms, the valet staff was pleasant and the decor was modern but a bit cheesy. This is exactly where I'll stay if I'm ever just in Houston getting my drink on.

The hotel itself is very nice but I was put into a handicap room and the design of the bathroom shower led to water being leaked all over the bathroom floor.

My husband and I went there as a get away. We had a wonderful time! The room was beautiful, the view was marvelous, and the staff were so nice to us! We loved it and would go back again!!!

My family and I stayed at the hotel for the weekend to see the King Tut exhibit. The hotel was very clean in the lobby area. The rooms need a bit of dusting but were still very nice and well kept. There are mini bars and coffee makers! Very convenient! We did not know about the fee for parking, However, if you drive a hybrid (which I do) - there is a discount. Very close to the galleria mall and upscale shopping center. There is a CVS right across the street - which was very convenient for our family with a baby. The employees were great and very friendly! The major thing I would change is that there are benches outside the hotel around the valet area where smokers tend to linger along with smoking receptacles. Move them out by the street, don't penalize the no smokers for their disgusting habit! Free wifi too - I will be back but move the smoking benches!

Love the ambiance and I always want to stay in versus leaving the hotel for recreation.

I would not recommend this hotel because my room had a horrible vomit smell, the restroom door is not a door it's just a sliding door with no lock, and when your in the same room as your mother in law that does not knock before entering well that can not be good. The staff was helpful and nice but u have to tip for everything even a smile. The beds need to be bigger they were too small. Overall the hotel needs to upgrade. Did not enjoy my stay there.

First of all, the room is too hot at night. The television remote was awful. Someone woke us up at 2:30 saying we had ordered a martini and we had ordered breakfast but no one showed up with that.

Very nice hotel....room kinda small for the money....no parking at all...only valet....$ 19 a nite....other than that it was very good....met a celebrity too!

We came into Houston for a quick weekend getaway. Found a great deal on Hotel Derek and booked it. The room and hotel were nice enough and clean. Did not stay long enough to try the restaurants or lounge. The room was a little noisy, we could hear the people yelling at the pool even though we were on the 8th floor. Also could hear the people talking in the next room, kind of creepy. It was also a little difficult getting in and out off Westheimer. Take the San Feliipe exit and come around it is easier than trying to cross Westheimer to get in. Overall, good value for the price, I probably would stay again. Very close to museum district and Galleria.

Bad expereince with staying on the 10th floor and all elevators going out. We had to go up and down 10 flights of stairs. Also, booked a two bed double and went to check in and one a king was available. There is small print stating there are no guarantees on room availabilty. Hotels.com said they could move us to another hotel but when you check in at 10:30 from out of town, in the rain and with two tired kids, who wants to leave. Especially, when your luggage is out and your car already in the parking garage.

This is a very "mod-European" style hotel with a great location across from the Galleria in Houston. Great for singles, business men, and young marrieds, but not the place to take a family.

Great city hotel very close to the Galleria in Houston; close to hwy 610 and 59 and near very pretty sections of town. Had a great dinner across the street and easy breakfast a short walk down the block. Not super tween/teen friendly as pool is very much a "sit and sip" kind of spot but perfect for adults looking for a fun weekend away. And very helpful with last minute booking arrangements.

Overall this was a pretty cool hotel with a modern feel and very friendly and helpful staff. Pros: Reception desk staff extremely friendly and helpful, modern decor, clean, minutes from Galleria Mall Cons: Noise level, Sliding door to bathroom leaves a large gap between door and wall making it feel like the door is open, extremely heavy traffic location, valet parking only and must pay per night, breakfast not included, and hotel restaurant was expensive and snobby Our first room was an adjoining room and you could hear everything in the other room. We asked if we could have another room because it sounded like a party going on next door. They were apologetic and immediately gave us another room which was not an adjoining room. That helped a lot! Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you want to be in the Galleria area. I would book through a 3rd party site though because you can get amazing rates. I would never pay what the actual hotel is asking for per night.

My stay was absolutely wonderful! My room was awesome, my view, the bell hop everything was grand! I am from Dallas, and when I come to Houston this definitely will be my accomodations for my stay. The balcony, the size of the room everything was lovely! Thank you Hotel Derek!

This is my second time in Houston staying at the Derek. It is an amazing hotel and in a great location. Our room was large and very comfortable. Hotel has restaurants surrounding it and a great place to go dancing, right around the corner. Visit and enjoy
