My room had not been replenished after the previous guest. When I brought it to their attention that my mini bar and snack tray was missing items, instead of restocking it they came and cleared everything out so I had no snacks or drinks in my room. Very disappointed in the customer service!

The location was perfect. The room was nice but the mandatory valet (no self park offered) was ridiculously priced at over $25/night. That valet charge can add up quickly...ouch!

It was great"

Clean, great service, and ideal location -- especially if you are looking to stay in the immediate Galleria area (although access to interstate is extremely convenient as well). Will absolutely stay her in the future and would certainly recommend that others consider Hotel Derek when making arrangements to travel to Houston.

Great location and atmosphere. Excellent service from bellhop and front desk. Comfortable bed, awesome water pressure in the shower, very clean, and good coffee. Well worth the money and then some.

The hotel appeared nice on the website. However, the service was atrocious. We booked a room with two double beds. The bathroom had two towels. We always travel with face towels. The bath towel was hard. My baby a three year old refused to use it. We called down to get more towels(better) and after a second call and 45 minutes later we received the same quality towels. When we called the front desk again, we were told that they are all the same. The refrigerator was old and stuck. The wall sockets didnt work. This was a horrible experience.

Great hotel. Rooms updated and very spacious!

I love Hotel Derek! The bed was comfortable, the room stylish, the staff helpful. The only downside to this hotel is that there is no parking and you have to valet.

The hotel, in general is okay and modern on the surface, but feels like old 70s once you get to the room. Most importantly, I was disappointed to find out AFTER checkout that they charge $29 for parking and that is not readily disclosed beforehand. When we arrived, I asked the valet if I could park my own vehicle and she said sorry, that is not allowed. They have parking around the perimeter of the garage they use, but they won't let YOU park it there, they will park it and charge you. In my case I paid approx $60 for one night as I had two vehicles. When I questioned the receptionist of the charges, she said "Sorry, we have no other parking options at this time and there is nothing I can do for you!". I kindly stated that I would not stay at the hotel again.

Old and dirty

The hotel is self is very nice, the problem is the hidden fees. The hotel ONLY offers valet parking, when parking the car is there no mention of any extra price for the valet parking or a sign stating of the extra price. So we tips the valet personal nicely, but when we a woke the next morning there was a bill under our door for $ 29.00 dollars, the front desk said that the parking staff should have told us of the parking fee, but just forgot. We will not be returning...

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for the weekend and had a blast. Absolutely loved the room and the whole contemporary vibe of the place.

It was a getaway for my special friend and I and the hotel room was quite beautiful. The hotel wasn't noisy and when the curtains didn't let in any extra light (that's important to someone who loves to sleep in). The only problem was there was no microwave in the room, you had to rent it for $25. Now that is ridiculous.

Can't say enough about staff and hotel. 4.2 stars? Should be a full 5.

I really enjoyed my stay. The stay was very courteous and prompt and the decor was fabulous.

It was a nice hotel inside and out. I loved how the staff were so friendly and helpful. They gave me all the information I needed at check-in and the hotel has a nice pool, fitness center, lounge, and bar including great food and service! Beautiful modern rooms with nice lighting, comfortable beds, I mean COMFORTABLE! I will definitely be visiting again!

We stayed overnight on Friday evening after my wedding. When we arrived in the room after the wedding (around 3am) we found a letter stating "congratulations from Hotel Derek and we would receive a free complimentary 3-course dinner". The next morning while checking out of the hotel we asked if we could return Saturday evening for our dinner and we were told No. The Manager stated that she had never seen that letter before we could only use it for breakfast. We explained the letter stated dinner and we were told that the offer expired once we checked out of the hotel. I thought that was very poor customer service.

I was very pleased overall... excellent service and a great value for the location. The restaurant could use some more variety on the menu but as Sullivan's is just a few steps away there was a solution!

I've stayed at the Derek two times already and I must say i love this place, great price, and very savvy hotel. The room is large and very chic. Amazing service as always, and the shower head in the the tub is wonderful.

Very nice hotel. Clean, excellent service. Valet-only parking. On a very busy corner, so a little hard to get in and out of traffic. Rooms were stylish and comfortable, but not very well-lit.

The beds are of motel 6 quality. The sheets and towels are old and worn. Parking is 23 per night. Huge rip off

I thought the hotel was great and fun to walk around. I thought the valet cost was a surprise and I felt very rushed when I pulled up each time. The room was appointed with an art deco style that worked well. The only issue with the room was the starbucks coffee maker. It took several tmes pressing the power button for the full amount of water to steep.

Super stay - Love the valets call you "BOSS"

The stay and room was very good. The only problem was i ordered while at the hotel eatery the soup of the day (bean soup) the portion was very small for the price and it came COLD

We stayed at Derek for our one year anniversary which is also where we held our wedding. We've never been disappointed with the hotel and the staff is always friendly and courteous. We will definitely stay there again!

Used to be better... Food is terrible and valet so rude and make u feel like u r being hustled. Next time ill b at the Hilton...

location is right next to the main 610 loop . difficult to get in and out of this hotel without police escourt. Traffic is none stop. to cross the road to go to the Grotto restraunt police have to be ther ordered breakfast at Valentions, one scrambled eggs toast and salsa ,one pancakes and fruit . pancakes and fruit were perfect , scrambled eggs came out no toast no salsa ,waited 13 mins no waitress find someone to find her .she had forgot to bring toast and salsa , 10 mins later brought the toast no salsa my eggs very cold . I tell the buss boy to get the waitress for salsa NO SIGN of the waitess ask manager he comes running to apologise. The salsa now arrives. Hiram was very nice took everything away cooked the b'fast himself and served exactly what I had ordered and hour ago. We ate b'fast at Le Peep next door the following day PERFECT!! Called for our car to the hotel whilst we were finishing our breakfast at Le Peep, gave them the ticket number and our room # walked back to the hotel NO car. Told the valet we called 15 mins ago , same info Rm # ticket # we went to the desk to ask what is the problem? 20 mins later here comes the car. For $23 dollars a day parking this is unacceptable. no place to park your own car at hotel have NO option. room is pretty, clean ,. No fan in the bathroom to and very small . We will not stay at the Derek Hotel again

IT WAS AMAZING no complaints whatsoever ! it was close to the galleria mall and having an escalade esv as a shuttle wow the rooms were very clean extremely nice and clean
