hotel has a good location, but all facilities are from the 80s. The pool is small and the gym outdated. breakfast was overcrowded and service at the front desk poor. good views from the top floor restaurant / breakfast room. would not stay again in the hotel. not good quality for your money.

Our stay was pleasant : the hotel corresponded to our expectations. We enjoyed the restaurant with its beautiful view and its good menu. The pool is a bit small and becomes very noisy with children around. We were not impressed by the sound of the next door neighbours having a shower late at night and the safety of the French sliding door which would have worried us if we had come with young children.

I stayed there the 1st week in March 2012, and I was very happy with the Rio Othon Palace. We upgraded to an ocean view room and landed on the 23rd floor. The higher floors were more recently renovated, we noticed. On the way up and down the elevator we saw that the lower floor public spaces were still old, so we were happy to spend a bit more. It's a "work in progress hotel" but what we saw in beachfront hotels, otherwise, the value was excellent. The rooms have balconies, albeit, very shallow, but loved to stand and take in the view of Copacabana Beach, Sugarloaf, and the point separating Copacabana from Ipanema. Conciege was very helpful and nice. Roof top pool and bar area was awesome. Breakfast room was great,as was the food offering Quick 15-20 minute walk ($6-8.00 cab ride)to center of Ipanema,

The location was great, the views were amazing and everything was acceptable to my family. We will be returning.

This hotel is a great choice. We stayed on the 26th and 28th floors (our family had 4 rooms). All had ocean views, you could see Pao de Acucar (Sugarloaf) from some of the rooms, the views were wonderful. We did have problems with the air conditioner in one room and they moved us immediately. I will warn you that the internet is by the device, not by the room, so if you want to use 2 computers or iPhones/iPads, then be prepared. We thought that a little weird. We paid for the Deluxe rooms, which are on the higher floors with views, I would highly recommend you go for Deluxe rooms. The breakfast was included and it was average for Brazil. I have had better, but not bad. I will stay here again. We were very happy with the rooms, service, etc.....

For 4-5 stars hotel in Rio,we can get a better services for sure for the price i paid.Internet ,is normally free specially in De Luxe rooms and the business center is poor and they charge you for every service ! and a lot. The Business lounge is only for their Business Club and not for executive floors and this is very strange. The location is wonderfull and the breakfeast is perfect.

I stayed in the hotel as part of my business trip to Rio. the hotel facilities are good. the problem with the hotel is their care for their customers. I was not able to due a late check out because the hotel was fully booked. This is understandable however when i asked if i can take a shower before my (was at night and my check out was at 12:00), the hotel reservation employee agreed and said there is a shower in the pool. 30 min before i had to leave to the Airport i found out that in order for me to use the shower i should pay 20 $R!!! just for a shower. the hotel manager did not agree for me to use the shower. Unbelievable that even though i paid for deluxe room i can not use their showers to freshen up. Will not stay in my next trip. Asaf

I stayed in this hotel for 10 days. The location, breakfast, view and all the other services were really good except the price. Their check-in time is at 15:00 hrs and for those who arrive early in the morning is really inconvenient.

Again, if you're used to a US style/rating for hotels, DEMAND a room on floor 22 or higher. We stopped at most all floors to check out the layout of the rooms and floor aesthetics. You can tell which rooms and floors having the new look, design, and feel. We had a room on the 26th floor and was pleased with it, and relative to the area it was really nice. Great water pressure, in-room safe, great beach view/mountain view (deluxe room with ocean view). nice size bed. clean floor and sheets. the only drawback was the sliding patio door was completely sealed to the frame so a fly/gnat could easily get in. the tv in our room was ok, but you dont really care about this since you're in Rio, right? :) I suspect all bad reviews came from below the 22nd floor. There was concierge, doormen, and multiple security personnel 24 hrs/day. Felt VERY safe although my wife and I never had that concern (my wife is very concerned with safety). Staff was more than accommodating to help at any point. Chances are there will be no early check-in or late check-out (beyond 1pm courtesy) because it's appears to be always full. Very comfy waiting area and plenty of restaurants near by! you get free use of beach chairs/umbrellas (othon brand!) with your stay. The buffet breakfast is ok at best, but it comes with the stay as far as we know. again, that's not why you're there :) This hotel is a great stay. we had a great time even while dealing with the neighboring smokers. :) I must repeat this - relative to US 4 star hotel it's not, but to the area it's one of the tops. Only 2-3 other hotels compare to it or top it. We'd recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay on the Copacabana side of Rio. it's in the middle of everything! Even in our winter stay, it was awesome in Rio! For starters, the picture on the site was very misleading. Our room was much smaller and plain. The view, from the 27th floor, was spectacular, but not worth the price. Breakfast was good, and the location was near perfect. The plain and dated decor, along with the weak air conditioning and the ants in the bathroom were big letdowns. The "underground beach tunnel" is actually a side exit that leaves you further from the beach than the main exit. Add to that the 20 reais charge for use of the gym and this place became a lot less palacial. The staff was helpful and pleasant, but in Rio, at least for now, you can get more for less someplace else.

We did not had a warm welcome, our flight got in at 5 am so we got to the hotel at 6 am, looking forward to get some sleep. The guy in the front desk told us that we had gotten there late and that they did not have our rooms available anymore (we booked the hotel for two nights, the first night is the one finishing that morning and we had one more night to go!) It seemed to me that they could try to sell our rooms at a better rate, he even mentioned moving us to another Othon Hotel nearby.... finally upon our insistance we got our rooms but this was after battleling with the guy for over 45 minutes. Room is OK, nothing fancy but OK, breakfast is great, view is really nice, eventhough this was not a front view room. Service from the Hotel workers is poor. Bad luck with maintenance because there was supposed to be a shut down on the hot water system, instead we did not have water and had to check out at 4:00 am because of travel schedule. If you go on vacation and get to Rio after a decent flight, I will recomend it, if going on business it did not get even close to our expectations!

One stays in this hotel for one reason - location, location. IF one reserves a beach front view suite, this will make all the many other things bearable. However, beware elevator doors that close with a bang regardless a finger, hand or foot between! Beware counting on a hot or even warm showers. Bring your own washclothes, Unfortunately you cannot bring you own vents because their are no vents in bathrooms, Overall this place is in desperate need of new management and overall renovation.,

Stayed here for two nights and had a great time. The room was very clean and had a great view of Sugarloaf and Copacabana beach from the room. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Highly recommend.

Good location. Accross the street from Copacabana beach. Expensive for what you get.

Very old hotel and even the renoveted rooms are still ugly and not confortable. Hotel staff was 50/50: half of them are very nice and half of them are very rude.

I can't say enough at the Othon Palace!! We had been in Brazil for 5 days prior to checking in and had several bad things happen prior to arriving in Rio so we were already on edge. But the staff (especially the woman who checked us in) were so kind and even upgraded our suite to an incredible execuitve suite. The suite was AMAZING! Not only did it have the corner balcony/bedroom/bathroom we were expecting in the Junior it had a dressing room, living room/office with second balcony, bar and second bathroom! It could not have been better and it wasn't even the "renovated suite"! Definitely the best place we have every stayed. Breakfast was great with a bread, fruit, cereal, and hot items buffet. It did get crowded but always had seating and plenty of food. We had a late flight out of Rio and thankfully they allowed us to checkout at 6pm with a minor charge. That helped so much! The only thing that would have made it better was if the hotel offerred beach chairs to their guests (they do offer umbrellas). Also the wifi was painfully slow sometimes and not free. It was BRL 0.50/minute or 30/day. We only had one issue with housekeeping when they had still not cleaned our room by 4pm and didn't replace the bath towels but it was only a minor inconvinience. We were SO happy with our choice and would definitely stay here again!

Hotel does not allow guests. The hotel rooms are very old and don't look like anything the pictures on the website.

Perfeitamente Normal. O hotel Othon Palace apenas encontra justificação para os seus preços na localização que oferece. Café da manhã (pequeno-almoço) para o fraquinho e pouco cuidado com a higiene das mesas. O pessoal recepção muito inexperiente e com pouquíssima vontade de ajudar, no dia da saída pedi para fazer o check-out um pouco mais tarde disponibilizando-me para pagar esse excesso, foi-me dito que não podia pois o hotel encontrava-se lotado, quando claramente não o estava.

Hotel besticht durch seine gute direkte Strandlage. Check in leider erst um 15 Uhr - bei früher Ankunft soll man zusätzlichen kompletten !!Zimmeraufpreis zahlen,um sofort ins Zimmer zu dürfen. Wucher !!! Da gibt es bei anderen Hotels ( natürlich Zimmerverfügbarkeit vorausgesetzt) fairere Lösungen-Zimmer mit direktem Meerblick nehmen- Lohnt sich.

Faltan detalles que le den calidez y aggionarlo., mas para un hotel de esta categoria. Salvo la piscina abierta todo el resto de los servicios son con cargo (gym, saunas, internet, wifi). Incluso para hacer el checkin web de la aerolinea hay que pagar. Es insolito. El desayuno no esta de acuerod a otros hoteles de igual categoria. Fin de semana hay cola para desayunar, vaya antes de 9.15 si no quiere esperar. Es una gran hotel pero pierde porestos temas

Gostei mto de minha estadia . Gostei do hambiente físico do hotel, da gentileza no atendimento e serviços em geral. Qto aos arredores a prefeitura poderia investir mais. A Av N S de Copacabana está cada vez mais descuidada.

Hotel con muy buena ubicación, confortable. Muy buena elección.

Tout était très bien et je reviendrai avec plaisir. Ma chambre, en étage élevé (26), offrait une vue exceptionnelle sur la baie de Copacobana qui changeait de couleur toutes les heures. La terrasse au 30ème, sa piscine et son bar-restaurant sont un excellent espace de détente et de rafraichissement de fin de journée. Seul (tout petit) bémol : le service plutôt lent à la détente. L'efficacité n'est pas leur fort mais le beau temps et le paysage somptueux vous font oublier ces petits travers dans la minute.

Tive uma lua de mel perfeita. Adoramos tudo que nos foi ofertado. PARABENS!!!

Foi tudo maravilhoso. A localização é excelente. O restaurante é incrível.

Excelente localização, café da manhã excelente, vista maravilhosa da praia de copacabana. Precisa melhorar um pouco a limpeza do quarto e banheiro do hotel. Pena que a praia em frente é muito suja.

Othon Palace es un muy buen hotel con la mejor ubicación sobre Copacabana. El Hotel es el edificio mas alto sobre toda la playa de Copacabana y la vista desde la piscina es la mejor de todas.... el Desayuno es muy completo pero poco variado así que si su estadía será mayor a 3 días se darán cuenta que tiende a ser repetitivo.... el hotel es una construcción vieja pero muy bien manteniedo, cuenta con 9 ascensores 3 de servicio y 6 de huéspedes. Es importante saber que hay tres tipos de habitaciones, del piso 5 al 13 son las básicas, del 13 al 18 las nivel medio muy bien ubicadas y las del 18 al 27, las High Level. El personal siempre estará dispuesto a colaborarte y a brindarte ayuda, el internet es por cobrar y las llamadas locales también.

...and i've spent most of my grown up life traveling (for business). The standard is worse than an IBIS hotel. The rooms are incredibly noisy. This was probably a good place in the early 70-ties but it looks like it haven't had a refurbish since.
