they were in the process of fixing the place up. That means someone has to have a less than stellar stay, right? Well, we were there at a poor time, BUT the staff were very gracious and the effort to make things better is there.

This was a good place ,very near what we needed, the staff is great, The room could have been a little cleaner, but was taken care of asap after asking. The price was great.

My mother and I stayed two nights due to her selling her house, The middle shift desk girl was helpfull but did not go out of her way. The night shift man was rude BEWARE he states all the surrounding resturants give you a discount if you show them your hotel key this is a not true!, He also locks the front door, you must use the side emergency exit which he locks, your key will not work, I was locked in the hotel, the emergency push bar was disconected, This is a Big fire hazard ,there was no way for the hotel guests to get out,I found this out around 3 AM did not sleep the rest of the night, for the safety of you and your family Please do not stay there. We needed to use a fax machine and they do not have one,I explained our situation and that did not matter they will not copy or fax for you, I do not recomend this hotel to anyone

Clean, close to everything, but very crowded and noisy early in the AM.

Our son and family came from Tenneesee and stayed 12 nights. Their first room had an unpleasant smell and they were going to check out but every effort was made to make them happy. They were upgraded to a beautiful large room at no additional charge and they thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The staff were excellent!

The hotel was OK for the money. But after checking out the hotel attempted to charged a smoking fee of $150.00 and I'm not even a smoker? It took some effort but I got my money refunded. Hotel is OK, but management has no veracity.

I have to say that the staff at this hotel was so friendly and nice, even the cleaning lady who gave me two extra towels for my think hair was lovely. I was traveling with my parents who smoke and finding a smoking hotel is super hard so I was very happy to find this one. I will say though that the place really does need to be updated. During our stay I did see workers working on a room as well as signs saying "pardon our appearance" They desperately need an update. The pool temp was freezing the first day of our stay and the hot tub bubbler wasnt working but a very friendly worker was saying that they were waiting on parts. It seems like they are trying to fix up the hotel. I will be honest and say that my rating on this hotel is probably a tad higher then it should be but its all due to the friendliness of the staff.

This isn't the cleanest hotel, but it is livable, safe, and the staff is nice. I only stayed 2 nights, I thought the room was not the cleanest, but it was ok for my short stay. I made it, but I wouldn't go back, next time I would pay an extra for a cleaner room

They said it had been remodeled in the pass year I have worked in hotels that have been remodeled, they don't look like this room that we had did. Top door lock was broken,room was dirty, bathroom had major water damage on ceiling. toilet paper was used rolls.

the pool in the picture looked about 10 times cleaner than the one I saw in reality. The room was set up with two beds and a sofa bed which we did not open up as any egress in case of emergency would have been blocked. The toilet was not properly secured to the floor and rocked. The carpet was wet by the bathroom door and none to appealing. The buffet breakfast advertised on web site was actually a continental breakfast-big difference when traveling with a group. We ate at the Perkins next door, returned about 10 am and there wasn't even any juice in the dispenser. Will ski[p this hotel on my next stay in town.

I had a very nice stay at this hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was as it appeared on the website as well as the pool and hot tub. I was unaware that each room came with a safe which was very handy. It was located not 5 minutes from Dorney and shopping was directly across the street. I would recommend this hotel to anyone vacationing for Dorney and any other surrounding activities.

This hotel is absolutely disgusting. The extra blanket in the room reeked of cigarette smoke, the pool was cloudy. The side door to get in the hotel had no lock on it,the breakfast area was not clean. I had coffee and put down a napkin and it was stuck to the table with syrup. No one bothered to wipe down the tables. And what made me want to throw up was the man behind the check in counter had his finger up his nose while he was looking at me. I will never,ever go to that disgusting place again. And It was expensive. Not worth one penny.

We were desparate for a place that would accept our pet dog, with very short notice. This was the only place available. Ceiling of hallway was waterstained and falling apart. So-called continental breakfast was frozen french-toast that you could pop into the toaster, and puny tasteless bagels, with frozen cream-cheese. We called a couple of times after our stay to discuss a concern with the manager, were told he would call us back, but he never did. Indoor pool was okay. We have to fix the cable hookup ourselves when we got there. Dirty towels were not replaced with clean by maid service.

we traveled from ny just to find the most disgusting hotel we have ever stayed in the pool wasn't even close to the pictures on the internet because it was being cleaned. our room's carpet looked like someone had thrown up on it and it smelled horrible. WE had to deal with the smell all night long. I am pretty sure your franchise lost a customer. we rented 2 rooms, which were both in the same condition. Our large family will be informed about this hotel which is a shame because we travel to Dorney Park every summer.

Close to park but wasn't all that clean to me!!

Location of the hotel is great with restaurants nearby and so close to Dorney Park. The only concern is that there seemed to have no broadband access inside the hotel room I stayed.

The hotel has few amenities. If you're tired from the road & just looking to take a shower and go to sleep this is for you. If you want reasonably modern facilities and a room that is comfortable and well-appointed go elsewhere.

I enjoyed my stay at Howard Johnson in Allentown. My children enjoyed having a mini refrigerator and microwave in the room for their snacks and they had a great time in the pool. Would do it all over again but next time I will make sure Dorney Park is open being that it is literally across the street.

I would not recommend this hotel. The hotel is very old and very dirty. On the positive side, the staff was very nice and helpful.

I have never written a review until NOW! This hotel was GOD-AWEFUL! The hotel smelled and looked nothing like the photos online. This was a huge scam!! The ice machine was broken, the walls were caving in from wear and tear, and they stuck me with a $75.00 pet fee on my credit card at the end of my stay. When I booked this hotel online I was told the price of the room and that it was pet friendly. I was never told there was a fee for pets! The manager told me they never tell the whole story online and then he charged my card!

Good location but the bathroom needed some cleaning and fixing up.

this hotel id not what it looks like in the [photos---vry rundown old the pool is small the spa was not working none of the ice machines worked--on the good side the hotel employees were super nice!!!

IF DORNEY PARK IS YOUR DESTINATION AND YOU HAVE KIDS WITH YOU, THIS IS AN IDEAL LOCATION. EVEN HAS AN INDOOR POOL IF YOU GET RAINED OUT OF DORNEY. ALSO HAS CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST INCLUDED, EVEN FRENCH TOAST WAS AVAILABLE.

We were booked at this hotel via the telephone by a hotels.com customer service person as our previously booked hotel- I don't think I'm allowed to say the name but can say that it's right across the street from the amusement park and was the SCARIEST, DIRTIEST place I'd ever had the misfortune to stand in- literally running out saying, "I don't care if you don't refund my money- I'm not staying in this building for one more minute!" No Allentown HoJo for this lady! :) With that said, I was nervous about being rebooked- especially when the hotels.com operator told me I'd actually be spending less! Well, I was sooooo happy when we drove up to this Best Western- it's right off the interstate so the traffic noise is there but it was tastefully landscaped and I walked into a cool, beautiful lobby with a smiling desk clerk. Within 2 minutes we were up in our room- all new carpeting and furniture thoughout the halls- and what a nice room it was. It was either brand new or newly renovated. The beautiful bathroom featured gorgeous tiles and a beautiful marble topped mahogany sink area- the room itself was immaculate- flat screen tv- nice bedding, comfy clean beds- now the view was non-existent- it was of the freeway but that didn't mean a thing to us! The kids went to the pool- they did say that it was very small compared to others at different hotels but clean. With that said, we were VERY HAPPY with this hotel for and grateful to hotels.com for rebooking us there!

This place was horrible. Dirty, smelly and some very suspicious characters in the parking lot. When we checked in, the latch on the door to our room was broken and it was obvious that this room had been broken in to. They never even bothered to repair the door jamb or latch.

This hotel is very convenient to many restaurants and shops- it's on a busy one-way street though, so make sure you have a local map for getting around! The front desk staff was friendly but- the hotel is very very run down and dirty. Our room had hair on the toilet seat. There were holes by the shower rod where they had obviously tried to install a new one. The shower did not drain, and I was standing in at least 5 inches of water after a 5 minute shower. There was a large gray spot on one of my towels. The "blanket" they had on the bed was ripped in 3 different places. I just put the bed comforter on the floor, it was scratchy and rough. The carpets had multiple rust-colored stains. There were styrofoam cups stacked on the coffee maker, but they were not individually wrapped so I didn't know how clean they were. The bottom of the ice bucket had set-in bumpy brown stains on the bottom of it- and there was only 1 ice machine in the entire place. The hotel is obviously older, but without the charm that comes from a nice old hotel. The staff was really nice, but the dirtiness and poor upkeep of the hotel ruined it! Oh, and the continental breakfast wasn't too bad- cereal, bagels, and muffins. I'm all for an inexpensive place to stay while passing through for the night, but this was too much for me! Not recommended for couples or businesspeople traveling....maybe families with kids would like the pool?

I booked at this hotel because it was pet-friendly, and called in advance to confirm. Apparently the number given on hotels.com is a central booking dispatcher and pet policies are on a per-location basis. So I arrived at this hotel at 1:30am and was promptly charged a $25 pet fee. The room I was given has a refrigerator that made too much noise to sleep over. The room was non-smoking but smelled like 30 years of cigarettes and something even worse (mothballs maybe?). I went back to the lobby to mention that the room smelled like cigarettes in case they tried to fine me for smoking in a non-smoking room later and was met with: "Unless you want a new room, there's nothing I can do for you" (the rudeness is not coming across well here, but it was uncalled for) I then get a call to my hotel room 5 minutes later further berating me about the smell. "It's a pet room, this is what pet rooms smell like. *click*". The customer service was horrible; I couldn't sleep because of the horrible smells and was enraged by how I was treated. Don't stay here; sleep in the car if you must.

We found the staff to be friendly, with the exception of the night clerk. The breakfast area was well stocked with a nice variety of choices that were fresh. The hotel was fairly clean but in need of some remodeling/repair IE: the toilet would run for a few seconds every few minutes and the room had a "funny" odor, one of the 2 lamps had a blow bulb and the tub drained slowly and you were standing in an inch or so of water. The pool and jacuzzi area was loud and it was difficult to hear someone right next to you but the pool was clean. The mattresses were firm. Overall I would say I would stay here again because it has well equipped rooms and a descent price.

THIS WAS ONE OF THE MOST DISGUSTING HOTELS WE HAVE EVER STAYED IN. THE PLACE WAS FILTHY AND IT REAKED. I WILL NEVER STAY OR REFER ANYONE THERE. MY SON-IN-LAW IS A GENERAL MANAGER IN A HOTEL IN CA AND HE WOULD BE APPALLED AT THE WAY THE GM HANDELED THE CLEANLINESS OF THIS HOTEL. THE HOTEL IN MY ESTIMATION CAN BE CONDIDERED A DUMP.

Located close to Dorney Park and restaurants. The room had all of the expected amenities and was clean. Some of the furnishings looked a little worn, but not bad. Overall, a good value.

Location to Dorney is great. Many restaurants close and within walking distance. Hotel while clean was sorta rundown and lacked any real charm. Staff was courteous but once again atmosphere was poor.

There was only 1 ice machine for a 2 floor hotel. The cont. breakfast was a joke. There are 4 tables practicaly right up against the front lobby desk. The hotel was packed and people were standing and eating as people were trying to check in and out of the hotel. The menu was frozen store bought french toast, begals that were so so with warm cream cheese packets sitting on the counter that clearly say KEEP REFRIGERATED on them. They didnt taste very good. And some dry cereal.

This hotel was the perfect stopping point on our trip to our in-laws. The room was comfortable, not as clean as some, but still comfortable. The most important factor was they allowed our dog to stay for a reasonable rate. We definitely will be back.
