A repeat visit - this tim,e for just one night. Nice light open window but nopisy at night.

We stayed at the Dalton during a business trip to Victoria. The hotel has a very unique feel that reflects an old time in Victoria with modern updates. It was a pleasure to stay at the Dalton and will look forward to staying there again on our next business trip.

Overall for the amount spend you can't go wrong with having free internet access in your room along with a basic free continental breakfast every morning. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and happy to help you find something to do. The room is comfortable for the age of the hotel but does not contain an in-room safe as the description states. Hotel is only located only a few blocks away from the Inner Harbour and number of attractions. I would be happy stay here again if I visited Victoria.

We had a very nice stay at the hotel. The night desk attendant, Cam, was a wonderful asset to your hotel. Everyone else were very nice also. The room was very nice. The continental breakfast was a real bonus. Everything we could want was included. Excellent coffee. A real nice hotel. The room attendent did a real nice job keeping our room made up. My two daughters and myself felt so much like home just after staying two nights. It is very central located and very easy to get around. The bus stop is five minutes walk away from the hotel. The staff were very friendly to talk to. It is a good place to stay for a short trip if you are not very particular about the look. The hotel was built in the 1800 but was very well maintained.

Older hotel but excellent staff and location. Good wifi. Simple continental breakfast but restaurants close by. Limited parking at $10/d.

This is a great heritage hotel. People have to bear in mind that this building is 136 years old and she has a few blemishes but has been well maintained. The Dalton has friendly staff and a nice morning spread in the breakfast nook downstairs. The doors lock to the public at night which is a great security feature. The rooms have lots of windows with great views of Victoria's downtown core. I would recommend the Dalton to anyone seeking a comfortable room at a reasonable price with " Old Victoria" charm.

The location is great. Breakfast is good. The size and of the room matches the price, and the room service is OK. Would recommend this hotel as an option for traveler who is not picky about room ammenities.

The Hotel was conveniently located in downtown Victoria and within walking or bus stop distance to many attractions such as Royal Museum, Boat Harbour, Parliament House, Craigdarroch Castle, Fairmont Express Hotel and The Bengal Tiger Lounge, Royal Theatre, Cineplex Odeon Theatre over the road and numerous shops and cafes in town. The only problem I experienced was the inability to access WIFI Internet. Whilst it was important for me to have contact with family overseas during a personal matter and the Hotel staff were very helpful in trying to fix the problem ( even offering an upgrade ), the WIFI Internet was unable to be accessed in my room. I did however manage to have access downstairs in the Hotel Lobby.

when I made the reservations the only concern I had was the location and I can proudly say that my decision hasn't went wrong. The front desk people were very helpful with their service, no matter it be the checking in, borrowing umrellas, helping us with attractions. Good people, Great location = makes perfect stay

the dalton hotel, is a convenient to down town and an 15 minute stroll up from the ferry terminal. close to the center for food, drink and wandering the streets. this is the second time I've stayed and would return next time I go. slightly more cost than I normally spend, but looking further out, we would have spent more on taxi. or bus, to wander the streets.

From the time we checked in , this place was a disaster. We booked on line, when we got the room, it looked like it was the type you would rent by the hour. The pictures on line are defintely not what you get. When we mentioned that it was not what we saw, they moved us to another room , BUT at a cost! The queen boutique room was okay - small - and bathroom was really small - Parking is extra - plus tax - We asked for a later check out time, and it was no problem - but when we went to check out - seemed like the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing. They always were calling the "boss" to get the final word. If the city was not so full that weekend, we would have walked!! Breakfast was with paperplates & plastic cutlery - bread and apples and oranges - Location is convinient - but I would never stay here again!

The only plus point is the location. But hotel is not worth booking. It's pretty old one and not properly maintained. At front desk, some old guy sits most of the time, I believe he's the manager- I haven't seen such a rude person. It's noisy, internet connection doesn't work properly and breakfast has 2-3 items. I never had such bad experience else week. I don't even give 1 star for this hotel. I would remember as one of the worst experiences of my life..

I took my Mom to Victoria and we were very impressed with the service at the Dalton. The first night, our room was above the street and there was loud music/yelling until 2:30 AM. We let the front desk know, and we were upgraded to a *QUIET* room (the nicest/largest on the floor) during peak season. Delightful. We will return!

Room is clean, but small with no air conditionning. Hotel well located, near all the attractions. Price very reasonable, including continental breakfast. OK if you plan a short stay.

Everyone that worked at the hotel was super friendly and pleasant, but the hotel itself needed work. I loved the idea of the hotel, being almost vintage, but the upkeep was just not there. The walls were not painted well, dripping in places, not covering the old color, plaster was just slapped on. I talked to a manager about the cleanliness and weak signal of the wifi, and he immediately offered me an upgrade for the last night of my 4 night stay. I took it, and the room was much better, but my main issue - hair - was still an issue. There was tons of hair in my first room and my second. I don't mean one little measly strand, but multiple, in multiple places. On the counter, in the sink, on the floor, on the walls (not joking), and even curly ones in the bathtub. The upgraded room was a tiny bit better, there was mainly hair on the floor.

After a lot of online searching, we booked the Dalton for our three-night stay primarily due to a good price. We were very pleased. We were in one of the less expensive rooms, so it was not deluxe, but it was quite serviceable for our family of four. While we had booked a room with two queen beds, we were "upgraded" to a room with a queen and a queen sofa bed in a separate room. I was not sure how much of an upgrade this would be, but my kids said the sofa bed was very comfortable with a good mattress. We definitely appreciated the extra space. The day that we arrived, Victoria temperatures were unusually warm and we slept with the windows open and the ceiling fans on. It was a Saturday night, and we were awakened by street noise around the time the bars closed. I wouldn't say it was a bad area, but it was Saturday night and Victoria is a bit of a weekend party-town (more than we recalled from prior trips but not everyone comes for gardens and high tea.). Subsequent nights were more peaceful. Breakfast is nothing special, but it's included and not a bad benefit. Staff were helpful with directions and the few questions we had. We enjoyed the character of an older building. We came without a car, so parking was not an issue for us. We found the hotel a reasonable 10-15 minute walk from the ferry terminal with rolling luggage and two pre-teen kids. The Dalton was a great value and convenient to everything we wanted in Victoria. We would stay there again!

Very good location, in the downtown area. Had to pay for parking, as well as no fridge or A/C in room... but it was a very cool feeling being in a building as old as this one! Really added to the Victoria experience!

Dalton Hotel is wakling distance to most sites. Rooms are on the small side but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is provided toast, bagels, waffles, cereal, juice, tea & Coffee. Staff is helpful.

The hotel is near to attractions. Be sure to upgrade your room to the one of the newly renovated "botique rooms" which are very roomy and comfortable. Parking is limited.

I visited Victoria for 9 days on the ocasion of the birth of a grandson. I stayed at the Dalton while my wifestayed much of the time at ou daughters helping care for her 3 year old9who visited withus at the hotel on a few occasions).A number of staff were aware of the birth of my grandson and on a number of occasions inquired about his progress and gave considerable attention to our grandaughter.I visit Victoria 3 or 4 times a year and stay at variuos centrally located hotels.In this instance the Dalton was the perfect choice.

I had a great stay! The Dalton is conveniently located in downtown Victoria. The Bay Centre mall is literally the next block over and the Legislative buildings themselves are only a ten minute walk from the hotel. The Dalton is placed perfectly. Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff was knowledgeable and kind. If I'm in Victoria again I'll definitely stay here & recommend it to my friends. The Dalton itself is an aged building but it is kept up with maintenance. There's also free breakfast!

The owners were extremely helpful and looked after me as if I was a guest in their house. Highly recommended.

The hotel was great!! So historic!!! They keep the place very clean and cozy and the free breakfast was a Bonus! I would stay here again, it's downtown and great location!! Lots of action around.

The only good thing about Dalton is its location. The room that was booked for me through hotels.com was very very small. With 2 double beds in it, there was hardly space enough to walk around in the room. Had to upgrade to a suite by paying extra to accommodate the three of us. The Bathroom fittings and tub were outdated. Overall, besides the good location, I do not see anything good about this hotel.

The hotel is dated and not in the best area of town. Though dated, the hotel is clean and comfortable. We had a vehicle with us and had to park in a lot away from the hotel, so we were concerned about our vehicle as the area is not the best. For a budget stay, you do get your money's worth as you get free breakfast and wi-fi. The staff are friendly and accommodating.

My biggest complaint about this hotel was the fact that we had red small bugs present on the bed, even though a new room was offered, i feel like bugs should be removed before allowing a customer into a room. Breakfast was ok to get by with. Front desk people very friendly and courteous. Room was cleaned up when we put the tag on the outside of the door. We needed linens changed late at night and they were brought up to the room, even though we had to change them ourselves. Location was awesome, few blocks to any part of the downtown area you needed to be in. A few blocks south and you are at the water front. Nice:P

We have a very pleasant stay at the Dalton. There aren't tons of frills, but our room was comfortable and clean and we couldn't have asked for nicer people working at the desk. Our room, on the second floor and the side of the building was quiet.

Very friendly staff and close to most venues that most out of town guests would wish to see. It's not the old Dominion, however very clean and as I stated before, a very friendly staff. When I return to Victoria, I would definitely come back.

This hotel met our needs, but really didn't exceed them in any way. It was right smack in the middle of downtown Victoria, within walking distance to everything, and the room was clean. It was not very modern, but that wasn't a huge issue. My three major complaints would be the view, the noise and the shower. The view from our window was the brick wall of another wing of the hotel (I could have reached out the window and touched the window on the other side). Victoria is a beautiful city, and it would have been nice to see ANY of it from our window. While our room did not have air conditioning (not an issue, temperatures hovered around a pleasant 19 C) some of the other rooms did, and all night we could hear the AC units turning on, running and then turning off - they were quite loud. The walls were paper thin and the doors were hollow, allowing every little noise from out in the hallway into the room. Finally, the shower was very short (I'm 5 feet 9 inches tall, had I been three inches taller my head would have touched the ceiling) and I had to bend down to have water hit anywhere above my chest. The water pressure wasn't great, and the shower-head looked like it had been there since the 1970s. All in all it was a mediocre experience. As we were only there for three nights it wasn't too much of a problem, but the hotel was not nearly as nice as the official hotel website would lead one to believe. Apparently some rooms have been updated, but most of the hotel was still stuck in the 1970s, including the painfully slow, dark and battered-looking elevator.

We choose this hotel because it was cheaper than most of the other in Victoria. The comfort in the room was ok but there was no chairs. In our two weeks visit in Canada, this was the first hotel with breakfast included and there was also a lot to choose of.

Good location; very helpful staff, easy walking distance to harbour and attractions. Plenty of good restaurants in the area
