Amazing location and rooms are clean, modern and well appointed. Pool is a bit disappointing as it is small and looks over the parking lot. Breakfast incredibly expensive and not so great. Family friendly place.

really enjoyed staying here at the hotel. The restaurant with her. All the staff was friendly and helpful. some of the staff is not very knowledgeable about the hotel is the surrounding areas but other than that I would give this a 5 star!

Great location, competitively proced for similar quality hotels. A few steps from the beach with ocean view from many rooms and all the common areas. Definitely our "go to" hotel for this area!

No tub in our room (nice shower though) full size beds made me long for the days when two queens were standard. Excellent service and location. Friendly and accommodating toward my family. 4.5/5

A very fine luxury boutique hotel with ocean view, lively hotel lobby with bar and live music on weekend evenings. Attractive architecture and landscapping. Decent restaurant with inside/outside eating options. But right across the street you also have many good restaurant choices. Also a short walk to the beach and beach side parks and play areas for kids. The coastal train does pass close by the hotel but we don't mind it because the train is part of life and the history of this area. The rooms are well maintained but not large. We wish the two beds were queen instead of just double. Swimming pool is very nice, clean and heated and surrounded by glass fence to block any wind. Also a good jaccuzi. Our kids were able to swimm for over an hour each day during February stay. We felt the prices were all reasonable for the quality received.

My wife and I stayed at L'Auberge in January. The weather was perfect and the hotel was not crowded. We had a room with a small garden seating area, and would probably opt for a ocean view should we return. The rooms are very nice and comfortable will all the amenities. Breakfast was excellent as were the staff persons throughout the hotel. There is a nice small market across the street for picnic/wine supplies for the beach. We did not use any of the resort facilities. However, I do wish resort hotels would prominently display the "resort fee" in the price for the room. Although only $14, I find it irritating to have to read the really small print to find this charge listed, especially and a relatively expensive hotel like L'Auberge. Further, there is no parking at the hotel except valet at $25/day. One day it would be nice to see the "fee" included in the cost of the room and disclosure of the parking situation. Despite these "fees", we would likely stay here again.

In order to enjoy L'Auberge Del Mar, you need to stay more than one night. Unfortunately, my wife and I only had a one night stay and were unable to take advantage of the spa or other facilities the hotel has to offer. We hope to return in the future for a longer stay.

Loved the hotel but be aware there is an additional $25 a day parking AND $14 a day resort fee, so you will be paying over and above your rate....$39 per day. Also the fitness room is below average...I have seen better fitness rooms in Motels!

If you're not picky, and you don't travel all that much, this hotel is a good choice based on location. But, on a service and amenities level, this is more of a 4 star property. Basically, if you want something, you have to ask for it. That includes help with your baggage, showing you to your room, maid service, turn down service, etc. They will help you, but only if you ask. I'm not used to that with a 5 star property. I travel extensively, and I typically stay at the Ritz or Four Seasons, this is not that kind of experience. The rooms are nice enough. Well appointed with plenty of space for your belongings. I was a bit put off by the fact that my room was so close to the fire pit/roof top area that I was practically in the middle of 2 weddings. It was awkward to sit on my balcony without feeling like a lurker. There was an odd smell on the second floor that was a bit like raw sewage. I have no idea what it was, but thankfully, that smell did not make it into my room so I was okay. The spa was top notch. I loved my treatment and my therapist. I would HIGHLY recommend the spa. The location of the hotel is amazing. It's close to some great restaurants, a gourmet market, and good shopping.

Stayed for four nights in June 2011. This was our second visit. First visit was about three years ago. I love this hotel and would have stayed longer if I had the time. It has all the amenities I prefer which include nice clean spacious rooms, great restaurant, a fitness room, tennis courts, short walk to the beach, shops and restaurants close by and even a small market across the street. I watched the sunset over the Pacific Ocean and was extremely content. I will stay no where else when in San Diego North County. Short drive to Torrey Pines, Hang Glider Port, La Jolla Cove, Harbor Seals.

I LOVED this hotel. The decorations are charming & inviting. Its honestly the cutest & most charming hotel I've ever stayed at. There are a ton of restaurants & shops walking distance away. The outside patio has a fire pit & water feature. The beach is maybe 2 minutes away. The beds are soft & inviting with a stylish duvet on the down comforter and a fortress of pillows. The rooms even come with a mini keurig complete with coffee, decaf coffee or tea options. No detail was missed in designing the hotel. I normally stay at Westin or Ritz hotels. But I really preferred this boutique inn more, it was just perfect. Highly Recommend!

Acoustics in Room 119 was terrible. There was no insulation between the rooms, especially through the shared room doors. There were noisy people in next room and you could "partake" of the conversation as if you were both in the same room. Unfortunately, they decided to have a party all night. The staff was very nice and moved us in the middle of the night to another room. Expected nicer views from rooms rather than over a parking lot. Have stayed at 4 Destination Hotels

Loved almost every single thing, especially the surroundings, the staff, and the comfort. Only a couple of little disappointments: the coffee maker and the clock in our room did not work. Also, although the beds are comfy, the blanket was not.(strange material). A rather big disappointment was trying to have breakfast both at very pretty areas both inside & out. Plenty of room and tables, but extremely short staffed. Had to eat across the street. Hopefully that will improve with better management.

I arrived late to this establishment expecting to have an experience befitting a hotel rated so highly, priced as it was, and having touted the comfort of the bed. You see for the most part I believe that a hotel is largely as good as its beds – we are after all sleeping over at a place which is not our own. In reflection, the bed was the largest disappointment of my brief stay. The sheets were almost hard and the bedding (duvet) was rough and slightly itchy. That notwithstanding, the parking was very expensive and for the price the valet was a bit aggressive about a tip! Living in Vegas by way of New England (where tipping is an art), the rule of thumb is this: If you have to pay for Valet, a very modest tip is in order – if however, Valet is complimentary, you tip about what parking would have cost up to about $10. Evidently, the Valet in this luxury hotel destination did not get that memo… I will not stay again, nor do I recommend this establishment unless you get the accommodations for free, or at a massively discounted rate.

We enjoyed our week in Del Mar and our accomodations at L'Auberge. Great service, friendly staff, delicious food and poolside cocktails. This was a beautiful family vacation!

This hotel is gorgeous!. It is located only a few blocks from the beach,and the area in Del Mar is beautiful! The hotel itself was very clean and lovely inside. The service was exceptional.The spa was very nice as well, with great service and wonderful treatments. The entire hotel was posh and made for a wonderful vacation. I am very pleased. I would definetly return to this hote.

Enjoyed our stay and would stay there again for sure. However, we had a problem with noise below our room with a service door that slammed continuously during an outdoor function. When we called about it, they were VERY accommodating and moved us to another (even upgraded) room.
