Hotel pleasant and close to main sights and (very cheap) metro.Hotel up steps so not good for less able. Would have been excellent if pool had been available for use. Snack food in hotel not good but some restaurants, fast food places and a mini-market close-by. Area appeared safe.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel for women travelling on their own as the lobby is often full of males (alll smoking) and can be very intimidating. The overall quality of the hotel is a bit dated and tired - mustard carpets and brass. People smoke in all the public areas, like the lobby and the foyer outside the restaurant which in an enclosed bulding in the winter isn't great for non-smokers. Room service is very reasonable and decent though.

For the standard... it is reasonably priced. It has all I need and is in the centre of Kiev... amazing views of the new football stadium and the main street at night is beautiful from the right angle. I stay there often. There is always good service.

It is a good 3 stars hotel. Great location, small rooms but with everything necessary. The service is basic, not really helpful. Breakfast is not bad, and WiFi free.

The hotel is well located, but of old Russian style i.e. very big. The room of business standard was small.

This was my third stay at the Rus, and was again satisfied. Yes, it is still a bit "Soviet", small standard rooms and bathrooms by American standards, but clean, comfortable, great staff, and a very nice breakfast buffet. WiFi was free and never a problem, though not the fastest, but good. Location is good for tourists, just a short walk to many attractions, restaurants, stores, and Kreschatyk Street. If I return to Kiev, the Rus will be my hotel of choice.

The good things: Excellent morning buffet.  Good restaurant. Hi-Fi working extremely well. Very friendly and helpful personnel. The not so good things that need improvement: 1. it was late December and not too cold outside. The radiators were on full blast and there was no way to screw them down. The so called "expert", when called for, resolved the problem by opening the window. Well..   A day later, though, without our complaint, the radiators were definitely turned much down. 2. Apparently, since 2 years, the three cash mashines that proudly stand vis a vis the hotel's bank-do not work. However, the guests are encouraged to use them, the machine accepts the pin code but then says  "TRANSACTION COMPLETED" but the money is not given.  Every time the customer (we witnessed three, my husband alone, myself alone and the English guest) was guided to the reception, where the lady said that she has nothing to do with the machines. The bank though proudly encouraging the guests to use their machine, refused to take any responsibility for  at least not putting the OUT OF ORDER sign, but strongly asserted the confused users that the money will not be taken from the account, as their 2 years experience shows.

Very pleased with this hotel. Close to city centre and the metro. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room wasnt huge but it was clean and everything worked and for the rate charged it was fine. Particularly impressed with the breakfast. Would have no hesitation in recommending to others, and would definetely choose it again.

We were very pleased with this hotel. The location is great and the service is excellent. As described by previous reviwers the breakfast is outstanding. We ate dinner in the Terrace Bar twice ordering pizza and found the food to be excellent and the service perfect. Hotel personnel were courteous and helpful.

a high-rise within (a bit of a )walking distance of the main streets and attractions...it felt safe, pleasant...food was mediocre...

A 3-Star hotel in the heart of Kiev, the RUS was very comfortable and near to the downtown shops and restaurants. Small, but comfortable rooms were clean. On my second stay there I did find that the chamber maid had neglected to leave any soap in the bathroom. Single beds are a bit low and narrower than those you find in the US but I didn't lose any sleep because of that. My schedule didn't give me a chance to try the breakfast that was supplied each day.

Good hotel with friendly staff.

It's difficult to get a middle class hotel in Kiev, but the Rus fills the gap. The standard rooms are tiny, but clean, bathrooms have all you need. The breakfast buffet is well stocked & has a good variety. Staff is uncharacteristically friendly & the hotel taxis are only marginally more expensive than normal taxis. The location is central enough, about 10 min leisurely walk downhill to city centre, but the steep climb from the nearest Metro station to the hotel is not for the unfit.

Small, basic room with very firm mattress. Unsmiling staff. Rip-off tour rates. Pricey restaurant rates for so-so food quality and laboured service. Oppressive levels of security make you feel under siege. On the plus side:- Free internet access (albeit unreliable and slow). Good city centre location. Excellent city views from 11th floor.

The hotel was not bad and the service was so so.One day room not cleaned.Prices are very high compared to other bars and retaurants.Taxi from airport to hotel 230 from hotel to airport 300??One morning on 11h00 no coffee at breakfast even though I counted 18 people still having breakfast.Breakfast buffet was good.Fiest room was two single beds so could not even talk to partner as cupboard inbetween.Asked and changed to a room with a double bed

The piano player deserved more tips. Service was always very good. I do not want to recommend this to anyone so I can keep it my own secret.

The rooms were small, like most european Hotels. The service was excellent. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, as was the congenial piano accompaniment to breakfast. The location is good, the Olympic stadium under construction could be easily seen from our room on the 19th floor. If we come back to Kiev we will probably stay here again.

Overall I liked the hotel. I reserved two different room types, and despite a 150$ dollar difference in rooms, the rooms were the same, with the exception of a coffee maker. The breakfast service to the rooms is cheap and the food was great. I did not try the buffet. The hotel is in a good location, short taxi ride to many locations. I would definitely stay there again.

Only stayed 1 day, but the hotel is modern, clean, has a good shower, free Wi Fi everywhere, and a very good free breakfast. For the price, it is a bargain and the walk to the subway station and Kreshatik Street is not far. The only downside was my wife and I received a room with only a full bed and the blanket was not wide enough for this bed and the bed squeaked when you moved, but the mattress was fine. It is possible we received a single room instead of a double, as when the chambermaid came to check towels, there was only 1 bath towel, and when she realized there were 2 people staying in this room, she brought more towels as well as more bottles of shampoo/conditioner.

Nice hotel, a little frayed around the edges, good location and a fairly good deal based upon the rates charged by other hotels in the center of town.

Never having been to Kiev before I found that the location of this hotel in the city centre was ideal. For a 3* hotel albeit at 4* rates I was very impressed with the standard and cleanliness of the room. The brealkfast buffet was absolutely fabulous as it provided even the most fussy traveller with something to eat and set one up for the rest of the day. Despite the cold outside the hotel was always warm and the bed was nice and comfortable. We were able to leave our luggage until late on and this was extremely useful. If I ever come to Kiev again I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

The rooms are small but good. Breakfast was not good. At 10h in the morning there were no pancakes anymore, rice was cold and other hot food was also cold. Sometimes no place available (overcrowded). Overall, RUS hotel is good if you don't have to eat there. Service in RUS hotel is good. Few blocks away is the President Hotel. The restaurant of President hotel has good food. Conclusion: sleeping at RUS, eating at President hotel.

Rus hotel is not luxury, but offers good accommodation at a good price. It was clean and the food was OK. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Best is location as it is easy to walk to all the major attractions. Room was quite small but internet and TV worked and bathroom was clean! The Thai massage spa was a nice addition (tho expensive) and was genuine Thai massage.

The staff provided prompt courteous service. Everything clean and working in the room. Good hotel at decent price. Book online and save. Hotel may sell out so, book in advance.

Loyal to its name, hotel Rus offers a unique authentic whiff from Soviet past: Two blokes stand at the entrance, mummified in dark suits, shaven sculls, and frozen stare. You don’t know if they are remnants of the KGB, or the normal feature at any self-esteeming Ukrainian night-life establishment, where such gorillas welcome shabby looking powerful guys with slim blondes that pour out of tinted-glass SUVs that park on the sidewalk. Either way, we enjoyed this reality-item, which was complemented by two bored police in uniform, who sat inside the lobby right in front of the main entrance. Add to this a manned gate to the hotel’s property, and you get a triple line of defense. (It is left to find out against what…). This didn’t make me feel important, but definitely made me amused. And if by staying in this somewhat overpriced hotel my money helps to create jobs for local people – I don’t complain. Besides, the promised ‘king-size’ bed turned out to be quite narrow, befitting for lovers, though… We had to ask for a second blanket, because booking (and paying) for two persons is probably not enough. The staff, however, has catered politely to all our wishes. The www connection worked well, the room was warm, clean and well equipped, and the breakfast more than enough. Enjoy your Russian experience!

hotel was close to everthing and staff was extremely helpful. rooms were small and outdated. the breadfast buffett was adequate.

Hotel Rus is within fives minutes walk to the main shopping street and Independence Square. Staff are very courteous and helpful and always willing to assist. This is a very busy hotel with lots of people coming and going. I will definitely stay there again.

This is a typical condensed and packed 3 star business hotel. Nothing really stands out one way or the other. There's a metro station 5-10 mins walk away which allows you to escape pretty quickly. Rooms are small, but complete. Breakfast has a good selection from the buffet. No mini bar. Some of the hotel "staff" present in the evenings offer a adult service. All in all - nothing special.

I expected it to be an old ‘soviet’ style hotel. Instead it turned out to be very modern, clean and comfortable. A very nice breakfast with a variety of food to chose from. Nice and polite staff. Not far away from the town centre, 5 minutes walking from a metro station. In a word, a very decent hotel for a reasonable price.

The Rus Hotel has a great location. Only a few minute walk to the main shopping street in Kiev and to metro stations. The hotel personal is friendly. The room I had was very small and in average condition. Bathroom was clean. TV had several foreign channels. Free Wifi. The breakfast buffet had most of the breakfast items one might expect but the quality was below average, in particular the coffee and juices. If you order meals through room service make sure you have cash, they don't add it to the room bill.

The RUS Hotel is really a business hotel. It is near enough the centre of Kiev that the locales seem to walk the distance to the downtown area. It it not located near any scenic venues. As it turns out, I stay there on two different occasions. Each time I stayed in a different level / quality room. The standard room is very basic and a bit dated. The business room was a bit nicer with newer appointments. The hotel restaurant is nice enough. The breakfast buffet that came with the room is your standard fare, not too fancy but good. Dinner choices were diverse and good. The lobby bar is very spartan but good. I found all the hotel staff spoken english well enough to get things done smoothly. It does offer Avis rental cars and a shuttle service to the airport for a fee.

This hotel was worth the dollars paid. Hotels .com save me 100 per night and made the stay worth while. The other hotels at 2-300 are in the same area and not worth the extra money. Staff was polite and helpful. Rooms were dated , but clean

Close to shopping, attractions, and great restaurants.

From the outside the hotel confirms the Soviet image of rigidity and austerity but once inside you are engaged by a friendly and helpful staff. The air conditioned rooms are on the small side but since we only wanted to sleep in them rather than party they were more than adequate. The well maintained bathroom, including toilet and shower, completed a very comfortable facility. As others have reported the breakfast buffet is excellent and makes the stay at the Rus outstanding value for money.

I spent two nights at this hotel this weekend. I spent my first night at the Radisson hotel. This proved to be a hard act to follow. Pros: *Fairly cheap * Reasonably central * Clean * Efficient, friendly staff * Panoramic views * Extrensive buffet breakfast Cons * An olympic stadium is being built next to the hotel. They were drilling concrete 24/7 (literally). The hotel's double glazing couldn't stop the noise entering my bedroom which was on the 17th floor. * I went for a night cap in the bar. Two very obvious prostitutes were plying their trade. The hotel staff, including the security guard, turned a blind eye to this. Not the genteel drink I'd been hoping for. Overall, a reasonable hotel despite the noise. I

Veldig bra i forhold til pris. Blir det vanskelig å finne noen bedre hotel i samme prisklasse, men hvis man klare å betale dyrere, da ambefaler jeg å søke en annen hotel.

Останавливались в отеле на 5 дней, знакомились с достопримечательностями Киева. Практически не пользовались транспортом, т.к. до самых знаменитым мест города можно вполе дойти пешком. Вечером приятно возвращаться из театра в отель - все очень близко.
