The Grand Summit Hotel - a Summit Hotel - سوميت

The Grand Summit might be of interest to historians, but i prefer a newer hotel. The floors creaked so loudly when I walked around my room, I was afraid the people below would complain. On the plus side, the room was clean, the bed was really comfortable, and the shower was good. Overall my experience was good, just know the building is very old.

I think that the hotel is too old to be rated very high. The bathrooms are small and old. I felt things were clean but very dated. Some upgrades need to be made to this hotel before I would stay there again. On a positive note, the breakfast was very nice and very well maintained and courteous staff members in the dining areas.

Would love better soundproofing. We were awakened two nights in the wee hours by people coming in drunk and making a huge racket. I guess that goes with being a wedding venue.

I usually go here once a year. It's good for me for location but can't help but wonder about the conflict of modern and classi and how it tries to look good but doesn't quite work. Bottom line, for the area, it's a good place to stay and it does look really good for wedding receptions.

I like the Summit Hotel, because it's close to NYC on the NJT and it has a number of fine restaurants in town. The free breakfast in the morning is an excellent amenity and helps start the day off right.

I thought the hotel was nice. The lobby was beautiful. The concierge was a little icy but cordial. The room was clean but very small. The cabinet that held the tv was cumbersome. The stay was ok. It just wasn't what I expected for the location and the money

Nice pub, the breakfast served there in the morning is average. Working fireplace in the lobby is a nice touch. You have to pay for parking, which is unusual for NJ.

Everything was warm and welcoming. Not sure why our room was at the very end of the longest hallway away from the front desk when the hotel did not look busy, but our room was lovely and comfortable for a brief stay while we visited with family for Thanksgiving. Front desk staff was welcoming and the full breakfast buffet in the Tap Room downstairs is wonderful. We stay here every year during family vacations and it looks like others do the same.

Both business and family visits in town, I have a lot going on when I stay here- this is my 4th stay. The staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is convenient, free, really good. Restaurant in the building is good for both hurried meals and leisurely visits with local friends. The lobby is my favorite- really beautiful, comfortable, huge, welcoming with fireplace, coffee, couches. I used the Y on the free pass given by the hotel, and downtown stores and restaurants are also nearby. This is one of my favorite hotels, and I'll be back.

I thought the hotel overpriced, the hallways musty smelling, the carpeting dirty, and the charge for parking unacceptable.

Rooms are too small, inadequate furniture, short beds, bath should be redone. Manager excellent, girls at front desk novices. Hotel should be refurbished. Good location but outdated.

I stayed here on March 20, 2012 for a business meeting the next day. It was my first night at this hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful and the staff could not have been nicer. A great breakfast was included in my room rate and they had complimentary WiFi. All great. They missed the mark on the room itself. It was designed to be a clean, classic design. But it was just full of inconvenience everywhere you turned. Hardwood floors throughout and no rug meant grit in the bed. The room was in the basement ("Lower Terrace") and had a overall humid feel. No shampoo or cups in the bathroom. The TV remote didn't work. The shower was tiny. The toilet seat was broken. There was only one outlet plug in the room. It's a shame. Either they didn't set up my room properly or they are skimping on the little things. Either way, I'll look elsewhere before I book there again.

Burnt out light bulb in bathroom never noticed by staff during my 1 week stay Toilet would run and flood bathroom - also not noticed - fixed it myself. Molding caulking on bathtub - didn't bother to repair that myself. Dust on TV screen/phone. Perhaps the last non-flat screens in the industry -- taking the "historic" theme a bit too far here. Breakfast was very good for US standards Room was very quiet - depends where you are located though. Rooms facing back parking lot, lower level are best. Walking distance to Summit downtown a big plus for evening meals.

Overall, I was very pleased with the hotel. My room seemed to be newly refinished, and the decor was really well done. And the price I got from Hotels.com was really good! Trying to close the hallway door was a little tough and disturbed some neighbors, but that could've been due to all the moisture in the air and the wood swelling. I only have one negative thing to say about my visit, and that was that as I went to lift the comforter off the floor in the morning, a skinny long creature scurried from underneath it and ran across the floor. I would give them the benefit of the doubt, though, and think that was just a fluke, because really, the room was extremely neat and clean otherwise. One other thing they could improve on, but not a deal braker, is that the lobby staff and the behind-the-counter staff were doing a lot of chitter-chatter, and it felt like I was interrupting them when I approached the counter. I suggest that as customers enter the lobby, the chatter stop and customers be greeted properly.

Overall the hotel itself was very accommodating and a very pleasant surprise of upgraded amenities and old-world luxury. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself was very old but well maintained. The elevators could use some updating. We especially enjoyed the free breakfast food in the mornings. The surrounding neighborhood was well kept. The homes were upper middle class. We visited NYC while we were there. The drive was only 20 to 30 minutes into the city depending upon which part of the city you were visiting. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a true 4 star stay!

Older hotel but upgraded to exceptional level

We arrived in the Blizzard of 2010 to find the entry way plowed and parking lot fairly clear! Front desk check in was quick and courteous. Our room was lovely, but very hot, so we turned off the unit. Had a great hot continental breakfast (eggs, bacon, pancakes, fruit, juices and coffee) the next morning and left to somewhat cleared roads and a plow in the parking lot to assist our departure. They did not charge us to park, although they normally do. This is a grand older inn, beautifully detailed with plenty of character. We will always stay here when visiting family in the area.

If you need to stay in Summit for business or family, the location of this hotel is superb. Hotel is listed as a 4 star property. However, the stars must be from a time long ago. Our room was small. Mildew in the shower. Peeling wallaper border (the border itself must be a throwback to the 4star days) . Well-worn carpet. Wide screen TV, but analog, not HD. It is annoying to pay $9.25 extra each night to park the car in an outdoot lot -- should be included in room rate. Pluses: good breakfast; nice relationship with nearby YMCA workout facility within walking distance. Great downtown location with many shops and resatuarants in walking distance. Staff was responsive in quickly fixing a slow draining bathroom sink.

Nice location & pretty good service. Wifi signal is strong.

Hotel in guter Lage, nicht weit in die Innenstadt. Die Zimmer waren total bequem und hell.Auch das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr gut vor allem der kaffee. Auch der Manager war sehr freundlich und kompetent. Insgesamt würde ich sagen top.
