I was expecting a terrible room (due to the low price) when I booked it but was pleasently surprised by the nice room which was kept very clean. The enitre place was quite nice and very inexpensive, (an free breakfast... awesome). An amazing value to say the least. I will definately stay here again.

The room was adequate. The breakfast better than I expected. The neighborhood was not nice and there were lots of loud parties at the hotel until late. It was very close to the freeway. If you want something basic and don't scare easy it's fine.

Rooms were not bad, front desk was very nice. Good place to stay overnight.

Location was good - only a few minutes from S.D. and TJ. Beds too soft for us. Breakfast was a lot of cheap crappy food from Smart & Final. Otherwise it was OK.

I am basically happy with my stay in your hotel. When we arrived at the place everything has been prepared. Easy "check-in and check-out" procedures; not too many questions asked since payment has been made in advance. No problem in parking area and your staff (receptionists and cleaning ladies) are polite. The place is ready for occupancy. The room itself is clean but bathroom light switch and towel holder, I think, need to be replaced because it's old and a little rusty. The location is closer to the grocery stores & food marts and to other must-see places.

We stayed here three nights on our vacation... Pros- located right off of the freeway, safe box in room, mini fridge, comfortable bed, continental breakfast (don't expect a whole lot though--coffee, juice, toast, muffins, pastries, cereal), maids were kind and did a great job cleaning. Cons- we did see one cockroach, but it was outside, not in our room, there were people outside at 3am and I could hear everything they said and it kept me up until they left, the hot tub really needed to be about 10 degrees warmer (not a huge deal though), and the bedding had holes in it and made the room feel a little trashy, I figure this is probably from cigarettes (we were in a non-smoking room and we didn't smell any smoke on the bedding, but I don't think they should use the same bedding for all rooms) Overall, we felt safe and slept comfortably and the location was great. I would probably stay here again.

Has hot tub/pool, sheets were clean despite the comforter having cigarette burns on it. Walking distance to the 8th street blue line trolley that goes to the convention center. Not the best neighborhood but i felt safe enough walking to the trolley ( its about a brisk 15 walk away ) has breakfast of cereal, hard boiled eggs and danishes, nothing special.

Internet connection was bad. Beds were hard and uncomfortable. Neighborhood was not nice also.

The first room they gave me was occupied by someone else. The second, the key didn't work. Every day when I got back to the hotel, my key did not work and I needed them to reset it. They gave me access without showing ANY ID. The breakfast was pitiful. Even if you have limited stuff, keep it restocked. Stood and waited for butter for 10 min. The person behind the desk said someone else had to get it. I threw my muffin away after 10 minutes of waiting. Staff was not friendly, nor were they helpful. The area where the hotel is located was a little scary.

Rooms were in Bad condition. They should replace Carpet, Bed covers and Internet modem. I stayed there twice and every time they had a poor internet connection. Actually the internet never worked. Carpet were in bad condition, didnt wanna put my feets on the carpet.

It seems they are really doing some cost cutting measures nowadays. No more lotion, fine by me...but I do not want to be asking for basic soap and shampoo. They should replace after cleaning the room. The laundry area was fine except that it opens late. My feet gets dark and untidy if I walk barefoot on the carpet. Reception was very helpful and friendly.

The room was not worth the price. Repairs in the bathroom, workmenship is below standards. Hot water in the bath tub is on before the cold water, isn't there a building code that cold water should be on first? No clock radio in room, had to rely on my cell phone. Walls are thin. TV was good, Wi Fi was free, big plus. Basic complimentary continental breakfast. May and may not stay again.

It was a great hotel and I will definately stay there again.

Most of us want a good value for our money; this however has a drawback and that is, this good price always invites the undesirables; low class, uneducated, noisy people next door to us. I could hear running back and forth, music beat through the wall and despite calling the front office they did not quite down; the party went on. The rooms are smaller than what they seem online.

Hotel was very nice for the price and located in between our engagement in Chula Vista and the beaches in SanDiego, which allowed us to make the most of our stay in the San Diego area.

Water fauset leaked bad one night and flooded the floor and they got us a new room in min that was even nicer. Romot on TV didn't work and they took care of it right away. Hot tub was awesome and parking lot was well lighted and clean. I felt very safe there. I enjoyed staying here and definatly will again if ever in the area. Pricing was awesome for California and right by major highway!

Every person I dealt with over a one week stay was wonderfully friendly and very helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. It is near the freeway so I choose a first floor room and it was very quiet. I was there for work and I would stay there again. The freeway entrance is one block away and very convenient. Happy with the stay!

Average hotel, average price, average everything, which will be a great deal to some, and not good enough if you're looking for something a little special. Stayed there on a trip to Sea World. Conveniently located near the freeway. If money is tight, this place fulfills your basic hotel needs.

FIRTS OF ALL. THEY GOT MY RESERVATION READY, THAT I DID THROUGH HOTELS.COM. THE AREA IS KIND OF OLD AND FREAKY AT NIGHT BECAUSE A LOT OF HOMELESS PEOPLE STAY AROUND THE AMPM AND THE JACK IN THE BOX 1 BLOCK AWAY FROM THERE, BUT THE HOTEL WAS WELL MONITORED WITH CAMERAS . THE HOTEL IS LOCATED RIGHT NEXT I-5. THE LADY IN THE LOBBY WAS VERY POLITE. THE ROOMS ARE O.K AND CLEANED DAILY AT MY REQUEST. I STAY 3 NIGHTS WITH NO PROBLEMS. IT IS WELL LOCATED. I WENT TO SEA WORLD, THE AIRPORT, THE BAY, BALBOA PARK, CORONADO ISLAND, IMPERIAL BEACH, ALL PLACES LOCATED WITHIN 15 MINUTES. THE BREAKFAST IS NOT A BIG DEAL BUT IS OK AND MAKE YOU SAVE SOME $$ UNTIL YOU GO LUNCH SOMEWHERE ELSE. THE POOL AND THE JACUZZY IS KIND OF SMALL, BUT I DID NOT PLAN TO GO TO SAN DIEGO JUST TO STAY IN A POOL. I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL FOR PEOPLE WHO DOESN'T WANT TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY FOR A GOOD PLACE TO STAY.

The hotel's positive is it is close the the freeway and has several access points os it was easy to get around the San Diego area. The Gaslamp district is 10 minutes away and Coronado is 5. The hotel itself was not as well kept as I thought it would be based on the pictures on its website. It was run down and cleaned the best it could be I guess, but we tried to spend little time there. We didn't waste our time with the continental breakfast either.

Great price, bout 5 miles from gaslamp, chill area, not the greatest for spending all weekend in the hotel but for strictly sleeping arrangements it will do.

I was in town for my friend's wedding, I was also visiting my boyfriend who is military. The location was perfect because it is close to the Naval base and the location of the wedding I attended was within 15 minutes of the hotel. I was a little disappointed with the hot tub just because it was always busy. Over all I had a really nice time. I did think the pillows were lumpy! I dropped off the key to the room extremely early at 3:30 am due to my early flight and was pleasantly surprised the person behind the counter was awake and ready to help.

I never even heard of National City so I was a little apprehensive. But this hotel was a good find. We were only minutes from the Zoo, Sea World, and other points of interest, and the drive was easy to get to. Much better than fighting the traffic by Hotel Circle! The price for the room was a steal. The rooms were large and very clean, nice pool, and continental breakfast was great, although the lobby was small for eating, we just took our food back to our room. I recommended this hotel to a co-worker, who usually likes to stay at a hotel closer to Sea World. He loved the price!

staff was very friendly and helpful at our arrival time. the swimming pool was NOT HEATED and the weather was overcast and chilly. The jacuzzi was just perfect due to the weather not being as warm as we wanted it to be in San Diego, Although we had a great time in the swimming pool and jacuzzi. thank you!!!!!

We needed a hotel in San Diego because we were attending Comic Con. The rate was affordable and was only 5 miles away from the convention center. Pros: - Friendly staff - Easy to park (and free) - Long breakfast hours and decent breakfast (cereal, pastries, toast, bagels, juice) - Comfortable pillows and bed - Big room - Fridge and microwave - Room safe - Free wi-fi Cons: - Walls are thin - No alarm clock or phone in the room (from what I saw) - Carpet was a little dirty - Neighborhood is a little suspect I don't know if I'd stay here again, but maybe I would if there isn't anything available next year. Not horrible, but not the best.

We got in very late and the hotel was sold out, but they still held the reservation for us. Because the hotel was filled up, parking was limited but we managed to get the only remaining space. Very quiet and comfortable despite the small rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was conviently located. I thought the rate was a good deal compared to some of the other hotels in the area. It was nice to have a refrigerator in the room and the wi fi was nice too. Overall, it was very clean, comfortable and quiet and a great value.

The staff was very courteous & friendly. The room was on the small side, but very clean. We didn't have any trouble with the wifi in the room. I liked having a fridge & microwave in the room. The area wasn't awful, but not fabulous either. Basically it's what I expected for an economy hotel. And the pool was pretty small.

Very comfortable room. Room was a bit small but was large enough for the price. Beds were extremely comfortable as were the pillows. Sheets smelled clean and overall room was very clean. The onlt complaint I had was walls were thin, I could hear people next door but luckily they were quiet at a decent hour. The freeway entrance is close for quick getaway. I would stay at this hotel again.

Hotel is in a very bad area. We were assigned a room on the first floor; unfortunately that meant that we heard people come and go (at all hours of the night, up to 3AM!!). I had to throw something in the trash can right outside the room and saw a suspicious looking man hanging out by the parking lot area. Needless to say, we didn't feel safe during our stay. Good thing it was only for one night! We've stayed at other Howard Johnson's before but never had this unsecure feeling until this stay.

I thought this hotel was exactly what I was looking for. The room was nice, cheap and close to what we wanted to do. The staff was great, even gave up mapped directions to what we needed. The hotel was quiet and I didn't have any complaints.

Great service. The hotel staff was very friendly and made sure everything was okay. The beds were really comfortable. It is conveniently down the street from a gas station and a Jack in the Box and easy to get off the five. The only bad thing is that the wi-fi signal was really weak so the only place I got a strong signal was in the lobby.

this hotel needs to be remodeled, but for the price can't complian too much, were from El Paso, Texas so we were pretty tired and needed to rest. For a couple of nights it's ok
