I was very dissapointed with the Hotel, not worth the money I paid for.Even the hotel Food was awful,not staying in that hotel again.

Excellent hotel. Excellent treatment, loved the spa and its prices, the pool...everything was just spectacular. The employees just want to please you, no matter what you need, they will get it. They are spectacular..!

Stayed in the annex, not main building. Room was very damp & musty. Restaurant food was good in the champions bar & I mean really good. There was a blackout in the hotel 3 times, the longest lasting about 10 minutes. My reservation included internet & breakfast but the hotel did not get it & i had to see a manager the next morning to get it. I did get the breakfast but paid $5 for internet.

I have stayed here several times for work & have mixed feelings. the garden rooms are really dumpy - seems like it was last renovated in the 1980's, scuffed furnishings, cheap linoleum counter in bathroom, stained and threadbare carpets (last time with loose tiles underneath). Worse, possibly a major problem if you have serious allergies - many of the rooms smell of mold, which is worse if you use the A/C fan. Still - I keep coming back - I enjoy the lovely garden setting (nicely maintained & landscaped), excellent fitness center which guests can use at no charge 24 hours a day (with hot tub, sauna, steam room, free weights, cardio machines, massage service), larger than usual outdoor pool, and great staff service. You always get a lot of sunshine and can sit outside if you like. Nice Aveda shampoos & products in the rooms. Location is not particularly convenient work-wise for me, but I can walk along the malecon or walk to the colonial zone. There are a couple of simple restaurants in the back of the hotel which serve homestyle food (not fancy restaurant food) at reasonable prices. Internet service has been fixed in the last few months and now works great. The hotel is pretty quiet. I found if I don't use the A/C fan in the room - which I don't need since I don't like it too cold anyway - the mold smell is not there. I don't usually recommend this place because to be honest the quality of the rooms is a bit lower than the people I work with would feel comfortable with. However, for me the other amenities & open space more than make up for this, you usually don't get these amenities at this price.

This hotel has a good service but the bathrroms need a lot of work. They look old, the water cant be regulated to goood temperature. the doors don{t close as the wood is very old etc.

Very comfortable with friendly staff. The location is great.

we know the hotel for a long time already. the staff is very polite and you feel ok.

Overall, the hotel was more than satisfactory. The telephone message system was out of order, but the hotel made their guests aware of the problem. The pool was shut down for several days and was still shut down when I was leaving. Arrangements were made with the next door hotel for guests to use their pool. It seemed that the maintenance was re-surfacing the pool liner and if this was all that needed to be done, it would have been better to do this maintenance during an off-peak season rather than in the middle of winter when many northerners from the US, Canada and Europe were vacationing. Service was excellent except it was difficult to get the breakfast cafe staff to deliver one's bill in a timely manner. Since I was more or less on vacation, this didn't bother me very much, but for the efficient operation of the hotel, it was lacking.

Let me start by saying that this Hotel used to be the HOTEL back in the days. We went there for business and had 4 rooms reserved in their gardenview(big mistake). First of all the walk from the lobby to the room is ridiculous, when We went to our room the smell of mold was so bad that I inmediately started getting allergies. All four rooms were in the same conditions. When complaining to the lobby manager the only option that was offered was an upgrade to a room in the middle tower but of course at a additional charge of $30 p/ nite. The manager sis not handled the situation appropiated other than forcing us to pay extra money for their lack of cleaness. We decided to pay for the upgrade but dont you think that the carpeting in those rooms were any better than the rest. At the breakfast table which btw is included we had to wait all the time to even be served a cup of coffee. The breakfast food is very good but their service sux. They have to do a lot of work on improving their service. I will definitely never go back to this hotel neither recommended to anybody.

This hotel has the best service, clean and good food in restaurant, very nice pool and grounds, however lacks in updates, it desperately needs room updating, the tower rooms are nicest with good beds garden rooms still have old beds that are hard. bathrooms need updating. At least its clean and does not have bad odors.

The look of the hotel is nice, not a whole lot it only has a casino attached. The room is not of the other world, curtains do not cover the windows completly which is uncorfortable in the mornings. Also, the bath tub is anticuaded and not classy at all just regular tub. Should have being a little bigger. Other thoughts: Nothing is free, even wi-fi spot at the lobby.

Garden rooms are spacious and comfortable, but the corridors are very noisy, nothing to prevent echoing due to floor, wall and ceiling building material. .

They have this strict exact name of guess policy. With what they charge, the only thing should matter is the verification that I booked the room for two people. This is the second time that has happen. I will never stay there again.

Service was excellent. hotel undergoing a major renovation which was obviously needed!

Nice hotel but need an update!!!

I thought that my stay at The Renaissance Jaragua was going to be a very good experience based in the history and reputation this hotel used to have. How wrong I was. The room was needing a thorough overhaul. It was worn and smelling really bad .The food was terrible. WiFi was only available in public areas at an outrageous price. And to solve a simple customer service problem I almost had to ask for a meeting with the Chairman of the Board. No customer service representative or front desk clerk could make any decision to have a satisfied customer. In a few words, I'll never get caught in this hole ever again. Not even for free.

The Jaragua at Santo Domingo used to be a fine Hotel, not any longer. Casino under construction, old hotel, far from everywhere.

The hotel's true star rating is 3.5. We thought we were getting a 4 star nonetheless it wasn't that bad. The staff were nice and the location is great. I only hope they upgrade the rooms before I visit again

Hotel rooms are OK for the price but bathrooms look old and need lots of work. Water gets cold and hot and there is no way to correct this

The hotel was very comfortable and the staff was very professional and helpful . I would book a stay there again and do recommend it to others.

Only thing I would say is a downside is no WIFI in the garden room area. And it should be free.

Good hotel but old, could use some remodeling which has started in the garden rooms, the service is outstanding the proeprty is great, only tennis courts in the area, great pool, good cean views, great service, good casino and conference center, no poker you have to go to Melia next door for that. beds are better in the tower vs garden rooms. Club level is a waste of money. I stay here an avg of 4 nights a month for the past 8 yrs so I know the property well.

This hotel is wonderful. The food is a little expensive but worth every penny. I was stuck there during hurricane "Irene" and felt safe and welcomed.

Everthing about the hotel was good untill the power went out and it took a couple of hours to come back on. I was on the 9 floor with no elevator.

Good location . Good facility . Very generous staff . You need to prepare yourself beforehand if planning to bring a guest in room .

It is the best!! I'm very pick about beds and pillows and they have the best ones. The breakfast buffet is good. It has a lot of parking in the back. the oly down side is that the bathrooms could use some updating. Overall Great!!

If you want to explore the capital. This is a great place to stay. Everything is close by and there are lots of sight seen in the area. I totally recommend.

The hotel is old and the people that stay there are shady. The casino is full of prositutes/conmen. I would not go back.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel.

From the outside looks like a 5 star hotel but inside the decor is from the 70s and the furniture and TVs are very old. i stayed in 2 different rooms in the main tower and I could not get a stable shower water temperature, this is a big problem because you will get scald. Very limited bathroom accessories, but the soap, shampoo and conditioner were good quality. The beds in this tower are very comfortable. Wifi Internet is $12 for 24hrs. The carpeting inside the rooms is disgusting. valet parking is $5 + tip. Dont get fooled into getting a room in the 2 story building behind the hotel, they don't have comfortable beds nor pillows.

We stayed at the Jaragua Hotel in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and it was great. The hotel is perfectly located and very high class. The cost for such a high class hotel was amazingly affordable. It probably cost us less to stay at this fancy hotel for a week than it would have cost us to stay at some fancy hotels in the US for a day. The people and staff were all very friendly and courteous and the food in the hotel was great.

Excellence of: Staff Room Services Floor people Parking (valet) & self I'll be back!!!!!
