Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam - أمستردام

Absolutely outstanding service (particularly for Dutch standards) and rooms. I usually wouldn't bother leaving a review but I travel a lot with work and this hotel stands out massively above the rest in Amsterdam.

The hotel is really nice, good mix of modern design and "old" flair. Staff friendliness and all services have been as expected. But even in a 5 star hotel there is area for improvement: The rain drain in front of the room's window needs to be cleaned urgently. The empty champagne bottle was not removed by the room service.

Very nice hotel and friendly staff. Rooms were very nice and contemporary. Two of my colleagues loved the beds, while two of us didn´t like them. My bed felt like it was sagging towards the middle and that the mattress should have been replaced (room 310). Pillows very too fluffy (but I didn´t ask if they had any others so I have to take the blame for that). Not far from red light district, which I suppose is something all tourists check out their first time in Amsterdam. Just one block from Dam Square, so the location was excellent for us. Didn´t try the breakfast, but the pool and sauna area was quite nice and quiet. We had it all to ourselves. No hot tub. I would stay again if I could get a different pillow ;)

A special piece of Amsterdam's history, so nice to be staying inside such a Gem. Not perfect, but what is...If you like Dutch humour and hospitality, wrapped up in luxury, then this is for you. Make sure you do the Hotel tour of the building, if you love Art.

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at the Grand, the hotel staff are very friendly and the room was large, very clean and full of all gadgets and goodies you would expect in a top five star hotel. May I recommend the personal hotel history tour that is offered by Zsa Zsa the customer relationship manager. It was a real insight to find out all the wonderful history that this hotel had in its previous life as the Amsterdam Town Hall. As well as offering an opportunity to understanding some of the cultural significance of the art work and stained glass on display. The wedding chapel was a truly beautiful work of art and craftmanship, just a shame I'm already married or I would have jumped to tie the knot in such a venue. This is the second time we have stayed here and we would not hesistate to return to this beautiful hotel.

An absolute gem! Everything from service to location was superb.

Very friendly staff, excellent location, a bit pricy for the size of the room, staff will be overwhelmed if it is busy! Not the most comfortable pillows, though very relaxing atmospher. Happy to recommend to anyone.

This hotel was nice, beautiful and clean. rooms are big and nice. The location is in the center of the city and close to everything.. The Staff in the hotel where very kind, we have booked a tour trip through the hotel concierge and unfortunately the tour company missed to pick us up.. so the concierge was so helpful on this stage to arrange us catch this trip.. i will definitely use this Hotel each time I visit Amsterdam.

5 Star and well deserved!

very convenient location, great hotel, service. Staff helpful, however concierge did not have an opinion regarding different excursions, locations to visit, they just provided information, which one can get from wikipedia... Recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam, without hesitation. Families with children, need to know its only a stones throw from the red light district.

Beautiful hotel with the excellent standard of room and bathroom that you expect from a sofitel hotel. Helpful staff. Hotel within walking distance of many attractions and train station. Only negative is the fact the fact that it is on the edge of the red light district and in the evening very noisy and crowded in the streets near to the hotel.

I recently returned to the Sofitel Grand for the first time in many years. Prior to it becoming a Sofitel Legend property, I stayed there several times while on business in Amsterdam. I was delighted to see that many of the essential elements that kept bringing me back to the hotel had not changed. The rooms are very well-appointed and maintained in excellent condition. Our double superior room was very spacious (particularly in comparison to the Paris hotel where we had arrived from) and the daily service was very good. Paul at the concierge desk was particularly helpful during our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and making our reservations. We used the amenities of the hotel during our stay--the Spa was great for massages before we left and Bridges restaurant was a fabulous dining experience. I wouldn't recommend that visitors to Amsterdam stay anywhere else. This is the tops!

Exellent all round, all the staff were wonderful. Its the only place to stay in the Dam

This is a wonderful hotel; with impeccable service. We were beautifully cared for and would stay at the Grand again in an Amsterdam minute!!!!

The hotel is a beautiful historical old hotel with all the modern conveniences. The location can't be beat as it is just off a canal in the historical old district. It is rather close to the Red Light District yet feels miles away and is very quiet. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite which featured an enormous bathroom with wet shower and tub. The pool looked a bit small but also very nice plus we didn't come to Amsterdam to use the leisure centre.

Have been staying at The Grand for 12 years now and still love it, but more so now as they have recently refurbished the whole sh'bang. We upgraded to a Suite and the bathrooms are much more luxurious with Hermes toiletries, beds are exceptionally comfortable, great expresso makers. Unfortunately they were still upgrading the Spa so cannot comment. Breakfast prices in the restaurant were expensive but there are plenty of alternatives nearby. They have re-branded the old Cafe Roux restaurant into Bridges which is predominately fish based but didn't eat here as we like to venture outwith and find small local Dutch restaurants. Location is great, 2 minutes walk from Dam Square and 3 mins to Kalverstraat, the main shopping street. Staff are all friendly and courteous. Highly recommended if you don't mind spending the money.

What a wonderful stay...the best. This was a late honeymoon for us, so we decided to visit Paris, Amsterdam, and Munich. By far Amsterdam was the best stay all because of The Grand. We narrowed our choices down to two 5-star hotels. Whatever our reasoning was in selecting the Grand, it was the right decision. The staff was great, the hotel had a modern design, and the room was AWESOME. We booked a superior room which was upgraded to a junior suite upon arrival. Even if the room hadn't been updated, the staff took excellent care of us. I must give a shout out to Joost. He covered the front/reception desk and was always acknowledging my wife and me by name. And if you need any help, use the concierge. They were extremely helpful with sites to see and helping us send a package home. I just can’t say enough of what a wonderful place to stay. If my wife and I are ever fortunate enough to make it back to Amsterdam, there’s no need to search for a hotel. We found it.

Central location, impressive building, quiet back garden, interior matches an art gallery, a very attentive staff, the best bed outside home that you've ever slept in, and good food - can you ask for more? We enjoyed 3 nights at The Grand, we had drinks in the garden, afternoon tea in the saloon, and delicious seafood in the restaurant. It is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. Don't be afraid of the proximity to the Red Light district, it is not on the front of your doorstep. Easily avioded and easily reached - depends on your curiousity.

Very nice hotel. My wife and I spent 3 nights there and had a fantastic time. The room was great, just a standard room, but fully renovated, really nice shower and bathroom. I would definitely stay there again. It has a bit of "The Shining" vibe, big, quiet, etc. The new restaurant is beautiful. The oyster bar, and cocktail bar are awesome, the food in the main dining room needs some tweaking, my wife's soup was really good, my artichoke salad was great the cumin grilled lobster was just overpowered by the cumin, just could not taste the lobster. The Yellowtail tartar was a bit heavy with mayonnaise. All in all you can not go wrong with this place, the staff was really helpful, and the hotel is beautiful. Location is great. Being close to the Red Light was just a non issue so don't worry about that.

Upon arrival we were offered a choice of a renovated modern style room overlooking the canal or a two-storey, classic style appartment overlooking the courtyard and the receptionist showed both - never experienced such outstanding service before - anywhere! The indoor swimming pool was undergoing renovation but again the service was outstanding as the receptionist offered that we could use the pool in another nearby five star hotel. And call the hotel in advance to let them know we were coming.

Worth it for everything, especially the location... Off the big noise, but central. The place itself is beautiful, and the service is excellent; the front desk staff is very helpful and nice, and the housekeeping, quiet and efficient. Would go back...

Central location,pleasant staff,clean,comfortable rooms. I would recommend this hotel as one of the best.

Spent two nights in Amsterdam with the wife. Things I loved about the Hotel. - Checked in at 6:00am, no problem or extra charge. -Best location in the city -friendly staff -If you need a bike , scooter, cab to airport they will take care of everything and you can just charge your room Bad - can be a little noisy at night due to the location (if you want a quite city this might not be the place for you) - charged a phone call to my credit card and found out 2 days later that the number was taken and used for other calls.

Everything about this hotel was absolutely great. The only thing I could possibly critique would be the size of the rooms. They were very nice, but small. Everyone was very nice and extremely helpful. Nice, clean pool.

The staff was very helpful with everything and excellent room - nice extra was the car was packed with light snacks for our onward journey.

Ho festeggiato il mio 35° compleanno in questo hotel.. grande accoglienza, ma camera piccola e un pò fredda. Nel complesso comunque un bel soggiorno.

Jeg må bare si at dette hotele må nok være en av de beste hotelene jeg har bod på. Jeg reiser mye på 5 stjerne hoteler verden over. Jeg sier bare en ting dette må oppleves. Hilsen en som er veldig kresen:-))

Maravilhosa estadia. Hotel muito bem localizado, funcionários excelentes, limpeza impecável, comida boa. Vale o preço que cobram.

Meget bra hotell i distinkt særpreget og elegant stil. På tross av forvirring i respesjonen ved ankomst (reservasjonen var vanskelig å finne), så er totalinntrykket godt. Eneste "skjønnhetsflekk" var at kjølekompressorene i luftkondisjoneringsanlegget ikke var koblet inn, noe som førte til for varmt rom på natten og dårlig søvnkvalitet. Hotellets policy ble sagt å være at dersom temperaturen ikke er over 10 grader nattestid, så blir det ingen kjøling. I et solopvarmet rom oppstår det derfor problemer med komforten på natten.

Excellent hôtel, bien situé. Le service est très prévenant, le petit- déjeuner est certes cher (35€), mais vous y trouverez tout ce que vous voulez.! Le must étant le Spa dans lequel vous pouvez vous prélasser après une bonne journée de marche. Je recommande vivement cet hôtel.

Die Lage des Hotels, das Personal, die Zimmer und das Haus insgesamt, haben auf ganzer Linie überzeugt. Der Wellnessbereich steht da sicher etwas hinten an. Wir werden aber bestimmt wieder zurückkehren. Das Restaurant konnte die Erwartungen leider nicht erfüllen. Auch wenn diese von uns hoch angesetzt waren, stehen die Preise nicht im Verhältnis zu dem, was uns vorgesetzt wurde. Das Essen war wohl in Ordnung, trotzdem wurden wir nicht glücklich. Das Fleisch (Angus) hat in der Qualität, wie auch in der Zubereitung bei Weitem nicht ausgereicht, die Beilagen waren ok aber eben zu wenig überzeugend. Das hat sich so auch durch die restlichen Vor- und Hauptspeisen durchgehend gezeigt. Nachdem uns die zweite Flasche Wein nicht zum probieren angeboten wurde, sondern man sie lediglich auf dem Tisch abgestellt hat und dann eine zweite Bedienung auch noch von der neuen Flasche die halbvollen Gläser nachgefüllt hat, ohne dass dieser getestet war, haben wir schon etwas gestaunt... schade, ein Haus in diesem Segment sollte zwingend ein Restaurant betreiben, das das Niveau halten kann. Frühstücksbuffet war gut und auch das Personal am Morgen war top.

Prachtig hotel op een toplocatie. Prima service en uitstekend personeel die je verblijf tot in de puntjes tot een feestje maken. Dus de hoge prijzen zijn gerechtvaardigd.

Strålende personale, enestående service. Her er det mange hotelldrivere som har mye å lære. Flotte rom, godt renhold og ikke minst nydelige senger. Dette må være Amsterdams beste hotell.

Nice and comfy hotel in Amsterdam with great service and location. Some noise in room at lower levels. Absolutely recommendable.

Et bestemt udmærket hotel med megen komfort og god service. Dog var den basale information beskrevet i små ringmapper, der var svære at finde rundt i. Et eller flere siders A4-ark smukt indbundet i en mappe ville have været langt mere overskuelig. Og så blev man forstyrret af rengøringen alt for tidligt om morgenen.

Das Beste Hotel in Amsterdam überhaupt. Toller Wellnessbereich den wir alleine benutzen konnten, da niemand dort war. Die Leute sind super freundlich und das essen eine Wucht. Das Frühstück würde ich jedenfalls nicht mitbuchen. Mit 33 euro liegt es einfach im Luxusbereich, was es aber nicht bieten kann. Parkgarage ist auch sauteuer mit 50 euro pro nacht, daher eher nicht mit dem Auto in diese hektische Stadt.
