Great hotel in a perfect location VERY NEAR airport and other areas of interest.

Thoroughly impressed with our stay here. Reasonably priced, awesome rooms, great location, and live music. It's like being at a resort in the Caribbean. I will definitely return.

Great place to stay. The hotel is older; however, we had new carpeting in our room, the bed was heavenly and we had enough fluffy pillows for six people! Staff is very friendly and accommodating. It is located close to an excellent restaurant on Shelter Island and is a great place to take a walk along the ocean. Would definitely stay here again.

VERY NICE PLACE TO RELAX , NIGHT CLUB WAS NICE TOO.

While the hotel is showing its age (a little bit), the rooms had new carpeting, the bed was heavenly, and we had enough soft, comfy pillows for a family of 8! The location is perfect with the excellent Bali Hai Restaurant and a beautiful park with walk trails along the ocean. Definitely a thumbs up!

The room was large and comfortable. The lighting was great with motion detection so you did not have to look for switches once you had the switches set. Great for the late night trips to the bathroom

It was perfect. Nice weather. Lovely accommodations. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Would stay again. We did not eat meals there, but we did have happy hour. Drinks were great and so was the selection of appetizers .all in all we had a great time.

Feels like you're in Hawaii...waterfalls, ponds with koi fish & parrots in the trees. Super quiet, too. Waaaayyyy better than I had expected based on the price point. I will definitely stay here again.

It was awesome. We couldn't afford Hawaii but this was close. The surroundings were beautiful, the room was elegant. We loved the little patio, the wooden shutters, the ceramic mugs for coffee(and coffee that actually was decent).

Cons: 1.)Thin walls, I felt like saying good night to the loud family next door through the 1-way door. They tried to open it several times. 2.)New guy at front desk sent us on a hunt after I had requested an upstairs room. 3 tries sent us to smelly bottom floor rooms. Finally, another person came and helped us at the desk and gave us an upstairs room, not on the side of the construction and not being renovated. 3.) The sink sounded like a plane. 4.) Parking- They had some guys blocking off the spaces when we arrived. The guy was so rude and told us to find parking elsewhere because they were painting new lines. When we returned from our day, the parking lot by our room was almost completely blocked off and no painting was done. Everyone had to cram in at the other lot on the other side of the hotel with their luggage. This was the routine every night. Painting was never finished till 2 days later. They still wanted us to pay parking. 5.) The staff didn't offer help to guests who had to walk from one side of the resort to the other. Pros: The bed was sooo comfortable, room was very clean. For the most part, only mornings and around 10pm were noisy, the rest of the time was quiet and comfortable. Overall, I would return after upgrades and construction. This place could have been a lot better for this price range. This is a beautiful resort with nice views like the parrots by the stage. Also it is a great location.

THe room was nice and comfortable. I loved that there was a refirdgerator and microwave in the room as well as a small coffee maker. Our room overlooked the greens and the view from any part of the property was great. I loved watching the boats in the Marina and I was excited to see parrots perched by the pool. The area was nice. We walked down to a little deli in the marina that looks kinda small and run down but makes some of the best sandwiches ever. The staff was nice and very helpful. They have a ping pong table by the pool if you somehow get bored.

Room paint was peeling and bed was not comfortable. It did feel like we were in Hawaii. The band at the restaurant during happy hour was good as well as the half price dinner.Hotel is unusual in that it is also a major concert venue to big names. Our room was right behind the stage.

Nice clean place just outside the city. I will be staying here again the next time I visit SD

Fantastic service and room. The hotel restaurant and Chef Murphy were also a five star for all three meals.

Just spent one night at Humphrey's on way home. The rooms are like new with all new fixtures and TV's. The setting is great with all the boats in the harbor. Had one of the best meals ever at the onsite restaurant. A concert was scheduled that night and it just added to the excitement of being there. Would have loved to stay a few more nights. I highly recommend Humphreys.

Loved most of it. The heat/air vents needed cleaning and the mattresses were hard, old, swooped and lopsided. The staff was great, gardens magnificent.

Enjoyed stay. Had to move rooms during the night due to water leak in the bathroom. Staff was very responsive and friendly.

Staff was friendly, grounds were beautiful. We especially liked the live music in the evening. The only negative was it was loud around our room.I don't think your insulation is good and pipes were loud.

Having a parking lot that was easy to get to our car was a plus, versus the traditional hotel with valet parking. The grounds were well maintained with new plantings. My two complaints were the neighbors above were noisy early in the morning, but that's not the hotels fault, and the smoke alarm was beeping at 2:00am due to low battery. I would suggest getting a top floor, and a room with a view of the marina or skyline. Would love to come back for one of their summer concerts.

While the hotel and grounds were charming, the rooms are very small. The mattresses need to be updated since both beds in the room felt like you were sleeping on the floor. If you are 5'9" or taller, the shower is a complete joke. I'm 5'10" and the showerhead came up to my shoulder. Doing back-bends to try and wash my hair was a nightmare. On the plus side, the location is great for getting to downtown and other areas quickly. If I stayed here again, I would just be really picky about the room I was getting.

I booked the hotel for our one year anniversary for me and my girlfriend! When I checked in to my surprise we were upgraded to a suite facing the pool! We had a wonderful stay! The staff was very friendly and helpful!

Beautiful location, all the amenities of high-priced hotels but much better value. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great restaurant.

We stayed here a few times and will stay again when we are in SD. Tropical clean and quiet we had a room just off the pool and the only issue and not really an issue was that the sliding door to the pool caught just before closing completely. It seems that a clip designed to act as a secondary latch would catch on the adjacent frame inches before the door closed. One look and I saw it required a second hand to grasp and pull it away for a smooth close. I'm not sure our daughter ever got it though and it would close with an extra bang.

Spring break with our grandsons decided to take them to the Midway aircraft carrier. Book with the Humphrey's what a wonderful decision we made. Upon arrival greeted at the front dest by a very nice girl who was very helpful. We were up graded to a suit room. It was wonderful never wanted to leave the view was great of the Marina and out the front balcony swimming pool and spa. The plants on the grounds remind you of Hawaii just beautiful. I would love to stay here again and would strongly recommend to anyone. One of our goons forgot his tooth brush and they quickly brought him one with tooth paste. What service Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Lots of noise due ro room location but overall very happy!!

The hotel was nice, the room was big and very comfortable. We couldn't ask for a better location. Upon booking and check in however we were not informed half the small parking lot was roped off and the other half was being repainted, so no parking there either. You couldn't navigate out because the main exit was blocked off by a construction dumpster.

Great place to stay. Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, and close to all San Diego area beaches and attractions.

I enjoyed the scenic location of the hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable. However, we had a downstairs room faing the courtyard where there was a lot of foot traffic. You could not leave your curtains open if you wanted any privacy. I would recommend upstairs or facing the ocean.

hotel needs updating. parking lots needs paint. while the bedroom was just about perfect the bathroom floor was in dire need of soap and a stiff brush. most doorframes are badly smudged and in need of paint. although the room was big enough i am not quite sure that i got the room that i ordered and paid for. the $10.00 a night additional charge to park there was a surprise, no one mentioned it before.

Really enjoyed the resort and was pleasantly surprised by all the amenities, bikes, live music nightly. Had such a great rate from hotels.com that we didn't want to complain about room. Was very disappointed in the cleanliness of our room and surrounding area. We obviously had slobs for neighbors who kept filling the garbage can in front of our room. For three days straight, we had overflowing trash and dirty dishes directly in front of our room. Called front desk after second night and nothing was done until I talked to front desk the next day. Felt like we were in a slum housing. Did not appear that our room was newly renovated or if so, minimally. Really loved Shelter Island location, staff was very outgoing and helpful. Would still go back for the 50% off price we paid but quality; not worth full retail.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay. We stayed in a waterfront suite over looking the marina. We were only feet from the hot tub and pool. We walked over to the end of the hotel where we listened to a band play while we had a few drinks. The shower wasn't the biggest, but it had two shower head's. There is a gym, table tennis and more.

Well when my mother and arrived at 1pm we were told by the young lady at the desk," check in is not till 4pm" I felt like she was very unwelcoming and rather rude no smile or offers of we have a resturaunt or you could relax at the pool.. just leave your cell number and I will call you. We were able to check in by 230 ,but by that time we were not feeling welcomed no offer of help with bags or even a smile.. the room was nice but the first contact with the desk left a bad taste in my mouth so we did not eat on site..I would not return, for the price there are much nicer hotels that cater to their customers..ok if your looking for a no frills hotel..with nice location..

I was pleasantly surprised that the room was as advertised, so I feel lie I got what I expected. The staff was really friendly and I enjoyed the stay.

The location was good, nice local people around, nice pool and hot tub. The room was just "ok" for the price. Also had an odd smell in the room.
