The staff were very helpful and the hotel served the purpose for the short business trip. It is in close proximity to shopping, eating and entertainment. However, the walls were so thin that the noises from doors slamming, pigeons outside my window and persons moving around disturbed my rest at night. But, the staff tried their best to ensure that my trip was enjoyable.

A bit run down but clean comfortable and great location. Friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Quaint hotel, remodelled several years ago. Needs new carpet in the corridors, but other than that clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful. The restaurant is very nice, excellent service and delicious food. The location is great, just a block off union Square. We like to walk. The Wharf was only about 45 minutes away and it was an opportunity to really see things along the way.

Convenient, great value hotel with San Francisco style; reminded me of a hotel I stayed at in Paris - same elevator! Good restaurant, Fino, inside. Many quality restaurants nearby. Nice staff. Loved the classical music playing very early on my departure.

Staff were very friendly. Free wireless internet, free continental breakfast (good coffee and pastry), and complimentary glass of wine in the evening at great Italian restaurant downstairs. It's an older building with fading carpets, narrow staircase, smallish room and very cramped bathroom, but it's clean. Overall, a great deal within a few blocks of Union Square.

Jody was a great in helping me to efficiently plan the visit to many SF sights which were part of my sixth grade classroom scavenger hunt that my students researched. It's staff like Jody that make San Francisco and the Andrews a wonderful place to stay. I enjoyed the personal feeling at the Andrews hotel. I do wish that the hotel owners would update the decor of some of the smaller rooms, including bedspreads and small television. Make sure to ask for a description of the bathroom--I had one with a small sink and a shower only. I had been looking forward to a bath in one of those deep boutique hotel tubs...oh well.

Hotel is old-fashioned and charming. Very romantic feel. Great location. Rooms are small and have not been renovated in a long time, but neat and clean. No issues with noise on the top floor.

My room was tiny but had everything I needed. The staff was friendly, and the breakfast was sufficient (and I actually liked having to take a tray back to my room to eat it). If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay in a convenient location and you're wiling to put up with a small room in an older building, this place will do just fine.

Friendly courteaous staff and was a complete joy to stay there. Enjoyed the breakfasts.

My mother was very pleased with this hotel. It's in a very convenient location, and not as loud as other nearby blocks. It's a nice independent hotel that is well-kept. The antique elevator is cool. I enjoyed the coffee, tea and ice water always present in the lobby. The restaurant, Fino, seems popular. The front desk people were very nice to my mother. She said she would stay here again, which is the ultimate compliment.

This was my second stay, though my first was better. I had a service problem in the restaurant/bar which offers free wine for hotel guests. (My boyfriend and I were asked to take our glass of wine in the hotel lobby, even though the restaurant/bar wasn't busy, and we weren't asked if we'd be paying for another glass of wine.) House-keeping was extra noisy on one morning. (Request a room stay away from the stairs/elevator.) The continental breakfast ran out of pastries on one morning. Overall, I love this place because of its history and general "feel," but my poor experience in the restaurant/bar soured everything else a bit for me. Waiting to see if the hotel will apologize for the service issue to see if I ever stay here again.

Excellent! Somewhat European. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast bar on each floor is just the best ever--great breakfast pastries. The evening glass of wine was a pleasant way of socializing. The room was quite comfortable. Close to Union Square and shopping. I will certainly stay there again.

This is a nice hotel - pleasant rooms, decent continental breakfast, etc. However, anyone who is larger than I am (6'1", 190 pounds) should inquire about the size of the bathrooms of the rooms that he or she is considering. The one in my room was tiny. If I had been any larger, I would have had a lot of trouble using the toilet and shower. As it was, I had to squeeze in around the sink to use the toilet and hunker down in the shower to rinse my hair. However, even knowing this, I would go back to the Andrews because everything else about it was so good, and I'm not planning to grow or gain weight.

Its an old fashioned hotel and not in the main area but is close to the Union Square with all major shops and facilities close by.The service was good, the staff pleasant and helpful. The breafast is available outside your room every morning and has a nice selection of continental breakfast items. There is an attached Italian resteraunt which is very good too. A good mid range hotel.

Affordable and convenient location. Rooms are very small. Could use upgrade in carpets and furniture. Bed was very comfortable. Got an inside room which made for a quiet night. No in room safe. Very good continental breakfast.

For the money it was good value. The staff were friendly and in a fairly good location, rooms were small but there are more important things to concentrate on when travelling. it was noisy at time and breakfast limited, I seemed to be on the floor that had hungry people I had to go to other floors to get some breakfast items. Otherwise a good hotel the wine is a nice touch.

The hotel is a short walk from the shopping and transport centre of the city, making getting around very easy. Although older style it was comfortable and well serviced, with friendly and helpful staff. A bonus was the excellent Italian restaurant next door which offered a free evening wine to hotel guests.

We loved staying in the hotel. The staff, especially Merry, was kind and most helpfull.The idea of breakfast on the corridor next to the room is original. We stayed for a week and enjoyed every day.

If you like classic restored 1900 style rather than bling, the Andrews provides a warm welcome to tired travellers. Our room had all facilities required- smallish TV, comfortable clean bedding, larger than usual space with a little walk in wardrobe to get your bags out of sight, bath with shower over, and continual coffee and tea available down in the lobby. Not far from transport and downtown shopping. Reception staff very helpful with guidance on what to see and how to get there. A refreshing change from the impersonal hotel chains; I'd stay again if in SF.

Nothing special. It's not worth.

We had a great time staying at this hotel. It is quaint eurapean style with friendly staff. The resturant Fino located on the first level looked amazing we only enjoyed the complimentary wine because the reservation book was full! We were able to walk easily to union square and chinatown. It was a further walk to the giants stadium, ferry building and fishermans wharf.

The hotel is a couple of blocks from Union Square and we were able to walk to all of the public transportation / tour bus starting points from there. Jody the front desk clerk was VERY friendly and helpful! We got a glass of wine in the hotel restaurant each evening (limited window - only if you happen to be there during that hour and a half) and the breakfast each morning was amazing - fresh fruit (choice of bananas, apples and oranges), gorgeous assorted pastries with butter and jam, orange juice and coffee. The nice thing is that we could take breakfast back to our room and eat there - it is served on each floor. The only problems were the size of the bathroom (in our particular room, your knees are under the sink when you sit on the commode) and the wireless didn't reach our room - we had to stand in the hall with the tablet to make tour reservations, etc. Good value, served our purpose as a landing spot each evening after sightseeing, would stay there again. Two thumbs up.

The man at the front desk at night is rude and a snob, however the ladies that worked during the day were fabulous!

Enjoyed everything about the hotel. It gave you that San Francisco feel and the staff was very helpful. Would definitely stay again the next time we visit San Francisco.

Great, also the Fino. Restaurant in the hotel is wonderful

This is a nice quaint old building - I'll give it that. And with old hotels, expect small rooms. However, for the price I do expect a comfortable bed, fresh linens, and clean conditions. But everything at Andrews seems to be ancient, linens and towels included. The bathroom is tiny and original. Tub didn't drain; sink is practically on top of the toilet. No space or mirrors to get ready. This hotel is in serious need of renovation. But the location is good; restaurant is great. Interesting - the manager went out of her way to accommodate a group of 6 "Occupiers", breaking the 2-person/room policy to allow them to stay in 1 room with their BMX bikes. They had taken over the lobby. Thankfully she also accommodated our request to be as far away from them as possible.

Located 5 blocks from the Union Square BART stop (although uphill - so beware if you are walking with luggage!), it's in a great location. Easy to get to Union Square and all the buses etc. Although location seems to be a bit sketchy, bordering what seems to be Chinatown. Room was small as expected, and old - but clean. Free breakfast was more/better than I expected, with muffins, pastries fruit and coffee etc.

It's a nice old building with a lot of charm. It's well maintained, friendly staff, wine in the evening is a nice touch. Neighborhood a little noisy to have windows open-no air conditioner.

We were only planning on staying 2 nights but that turned into 4 nights. We got the last room. And it was worth it!! The front desk is helpful. The room was tiny but the layout is well arranged. The resturant, Fino, connected to the hotel is wonderful. When we come back in a couple years we will probably stay here again.

Very enjoyable and the restaurant attached was superb.

The staff were very fiendly and helpful. The room although small as they are in most of the older hotels was clean, comfortable and just what we needed. The price was fair, the restaurant (Fino) located downstairs in the hotel has great food. The evening wine was a nice touch. We found the location perfect to get to the public transportation which was really a pleasure to use. A very nice vacation topped by a great place to stay after long days of climbing hills. Highly recommended.

This is a comfortable hotel with a very helpful and pleasant staff. The hotel and the rooms have a lot of character. I stayed in a small room and was surprised at how quiet it was despite being close to the elevator. The restaurant next to the lobby served good italian fare until late in the evening. All around wonderful stay!

It was such a small, old and smelly room. not enough room for 2 ppl, towels are old and grey instead of white and bathroom was very out dated.

A few blocks from union square and lots of great shops. Also close the the cable car stop that takes you up to fishermans wharf. The hotel is clean, comfortable and in a great location. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is fine. Breakfast on each level was a pleasant surprise. Glass of wine in the evening was another nice touch. The location is great as the hotel is close to everything in the Union Square area. It is a safe area to walk. However, it is noisy and there is nothing you can do about that.

Nice and cozy place, but no A/C. Close to Union Square shops. Friendly staff. Continental breakfast and wifi on every floor.

Ideal location near Union Square and public transportation. Helpful staff made our stay truly enjoyable. Coffee/tea/icewater in lobby 24/7, free continental breakfast, Wi-fi, and a glass of wine in the evening will bring us back again for our next visit!

A beautiful old hotel. Nice comfy rooms. Close to everything. I highly recommend it. However, the free glass of wine was worth every penny.

We only stayed overnight at this hotel- arrived late and checked out the next morning. We had a day to explore the city and did not want to lug our stuff around all day. The hotel let us not only keep our rental car in the lot until 2:30 but they also kept our luggage locked up and safe. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms are small and the hotel faces a busy street so expect some noise. Overall, this hotel was a great value and an incredibly pleasant experience. We would return.

The price was right. Other hotels in the area cost twice as much. Our room did not have AC, but that was not a bid deal as we stayed in April and we just cracked the window. The staff let us check in at 10:00 AM which was very kind, The muffins were delicious and the refreshment table in the lobby was a nice touch. I would certainly stay here again.
