Good location, near the Capitol buildings. The rest is quite common and very simple

When I arrived in the room, there was hair on the bath towels. For some reason there was load banging for an hour at 2:15 am. The maid came in the first morning to "clean" the room and took the towels replace them and left. The elevators did not work most of the morning that I was to check out. Had to use service elevator when it started working. Vending machine for the soda did not except dollar bills and by the time the clerk helped me I had to add more money to get the soda. I will say that the front desk clerks were very friendly and helpful.

Was awaken at 2:15 in the morning with pounding that actually shook the room and happened every 15 minutes for an hour. Found hair on the bath towels when I arrived in the room and when the room was "cleaned" the next morning the lady gathered the towels, replace with new ones and left. Elevators did not work on the morning of check out for hours. Soda machine did not accept dollar bills and when the attendent helped me had to add extra money to the machine to get my soda. Will have to say that the front desk staff was very helpful and friendly, but would not recommend this hotel.

It was difficult getting from the valet parking to our room. Hotel corridors are quite narrow and were partially blocked by housekeeping carts. Traffic at the parking check-in was heavy due to a the arrival of a number of police cars (for a memorial event) and at least 50 motorcycles (motocycle club) apparently on tour. The motorcycles continued to roar well into the night and in the early morning as bikers arrived and departed. The bathroom had a considerable hole in the ceiling (repaired at least once) apparently from a leak in the bathroom above. The air conditioning unit rattled when cycling on. The complimentary breakfast was satisfactory. Location is a plus and the parking valets were very pleasant. With a little attention to maintenance, the hotel could make vast improvements in the quality of the stay.

This is not a pretty hotel. There are water stains on the ceiling, I'm fairly certain the roof was leaking when it rained, the hallway smelled strongly of marijuana, and the décor hasn't been updated in awhile. However, the beds were comfortable, breakfast was ample, and the location is unbeatable (one block from Congress Ave.). I wouldn't stay here if you are looking for luxury, but if you're looking for a place to rest in between having a wonderful time in downtown Austin, this place is a great choice.

Very disappointed in the run down condition of the hotel and the noise level from the Saturday night younger set who frequent the downtown night spots. The charge was $200/night which I normally would not find acceptable. However, the location of a family wedding made the decision to stay at this hotel. The hotel staff were very courteous and helpful and that is not always the case at motels/hotels. We will never stay at this hotel again regardless of the location.

Would of been better to have known about parking.

Very convenient location a short walk from the University and 6th Street and the Capitol building.

If you're in Austin and need to be close to the Capitol, this is the place. Literally acroos the street. Also well within walking distance to 6th Street. Staff was incredible, very customer service oriented, and the valet only parking makes staying here a pleasure.

The hotel was in somewhat worn condition from the elevators to the general condition of the room. The location while being somewhat central to the city proved to be noisy at night from the noise, the other guests (who seemed to be the late night party crowd) and the air conditioner compressor which was very noisy. I will choose a different hotel next time.

All rooms are motel style with an outdoor entrance. Sound has no problem traveling through the walls so you get the pleasure of hearing your neighbor's toilet flushing as well as hearing the neighbors TV. It is right by the Capitol building which is pretty convenient. It wasn't so bad for a night, just don't expect much.

We stayed at the La Quinta for its location knowing it wasn't going to be top notch. We were not wrong in our assessment. Walkability is amazing if your plans include the Capitol, 6th St, and downtown in general. The service was good, the continental breakfast standard, and the pool looked worthy (though we did not use it). Just take into consideration that this is an older, not well maintained motel... old carpets, no sound proofing, aged fixtures (doors, elevator, windows, walkways). Our air conditioner leaked so a moldy smell was obvious in the room and our sheets had hair from previous users within (didn't come out in the wash?). But we paid for convenience not bling so were not surprised, though the price was bit high in my opinion. I am disappointed that La Quinta doesn't give this hotel more love... I'm sure they feel they don't have to as regardless of its condition it gets massive amounts of Capitol business.

Best bet on a budget. The staff is real nice and its not totally run down like other cheap motels in the area. Its actually more like a hotel. Much recommended

Rooms are fine but rest of hotel needs facelift.

Don't waste your time. Place was one of the most disgusting places I have ever stayed in my 15 year career of traveling all over for work. Spend a little more money and stay somewhere you don't have to wear your clothes to bed...

Definitely a 2 star hotel. Very outdated. The doors have no weatherstripping or are not insulated so you hear everything that goes on in the hallways, even as light as footsteps. It was like sleeping in the hallway.

Breakfast was good. Price was higher than usual.

I felt like I was in a 4 story 1950's motel. All the rooms had exterior doors and a concrete walkway outside so you heard everything and everyone who went by your room. It was just cheesy. Plus parking was an extra expense and our car was damaged by that "service". I won't be allowing them in my pocket agin. There are much better options.

The hotel is okay. Staffs were very friendly and made us feel welcomed. But The wall between our room and the next room is so paper thin that we could hear guests next room talking all night long. We couldn't sleep and had to cut our stay short and moved to other hotel.

I traveled to Austin twice in Feb. for work and both times stayed at this location. First trip wasn't as bad and maybe it was just the room but it had a very moldy/musty smell and only way I could tolerate it was to run the AC unit which didn't function correctly either. The room was dingy and made me a bit uncomfortable. Overall location was good but would not stay here again.

OK although overpriced for sleeping, but use it as a pricey motel by the freeway on a road trip. Advise: if you don't want to spend >200 bucks, get in late, and leave early. No food, no restaurants, no shops, no espresso, nothing around worth seeing, deserted if not scary at night, takes 15 min to get a taxi for escape, poor bublic transportation.

Very bad service, no computer to primt boarding pass, taxi was not called in time. Front desk is not polite

I just think it was a little over priced to not be such a great place. It was clean and great service but not that great for what I paid.

This hotel is pretty mediocre. I knew it was a budget hotel but it has zero amenities and this location is VERY loud and noisy. The staff was pretty friendly but this hotel is run-down. It is not a bad location if you are in Austin or visiting the university. Otherwise I would not necessarily recommend it.

I like that this hotel is far enough from the craziness of 6th street and quiet, but close enough to walk to the convention center and all thd fun. The staff was friendly and flexible. Breakfast was an added bonus. Although the exterior is dated, the rooms are clean and updated. I'd stay here again.

I would sum up this hotel as... acceptable for one night. It will get the job done, but I would never go out of my way to stay here...

Although it was convenient the hotel itself was definitely NOT one I would choose to stay at again. The rooms were alright although the bath tub leaked . They were also very noisy and there was no sound proofing for the traffic outside. Many LaQuintas are quite lovely. This one is not.

The hotel is very close to the Capitol, so it is nicely situated in downtown. The only thing to realize is that it is only valet parking. I guess they are preventing anyone other than guests to park, but it does add a step to leaving the hotel via car. It does need an upgrade to the rooms, with some older styles and there is limited TV channels (many were even unavailable during my stay).

Walking distance to UT, Capitol, and 6th street. Hotel is decent it's just a little old and the bathtub was kind of dirty. Other than that it was good, friendly staff

good hotel for the price

Since the hotel location was close to the main attractions it was good.The personnell was not kind, and breakfast room was very samll, and the hotel was old.

I chose this property to be close to UT and downtown. Location was convenient. Property is older but reasonably well-maintained. Advertisement suggested free parking which was not the case. Two problems with the room - noise from outside until late at night and bedding reeked of bleach. Overall a so-so value for the money.
