Pros: It was good for the price which I paid. It was little bit pricy but it was right on Downtown and you wont pay much for taxis. Cons: I dint like it when I asked the kitchen lady to give me water, She was washing utensils & I think she was reckless that some soap or something mixed with it & I had stomach upset whole day. I had to use bathroom 5-6 times just during the day!!!! And I hate about it coz I was there for a conference.

I was at the La Quinta Austin on a 2 night stay for a technical conference at the AT&T center a few blocks away. Location was great, price was reasonable, but the experience was terrible. I was only able to squeeze in 2-3 hours of sleep OVER BOTH NIGHTS because of the very loud and very rude guests that this hotel seems to attract. People were screaming, drinking, slamming doors and even playing soccer in the hallway until 4AM!!! I contacted the front desk about the noise, but nothing was done at all to try and control the rowdiness or remedy the situation. Perhaps the police would have been more effective. Needless to say, I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. Save yourself the frustration and book someplace else.

Was in Austin for a conference and main hotel was fully booked. Chose LaQuinta for price and proximity. Was very happy overall with the hotel. Hotel is right next to the Capital and just a few blocks from all the bars and eateries (close enough to walk but not so close that you hear it/have it on your doorstep). Beds, pillows and bedding were awsome for a mid-range hotel. Very nice TV and channel selection too. Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and served for a long time. Only "needs improvements" were that the carpet could use a good steam cleaning and the shower head was really low (and I'm only 5'5") and the towels were thin and small. Still, for price, location and all the positives (especially the bed which is the primary point of a hotel), I would strongly recommend.

I have stayed at this Best Western many times and loved it so there was a business trip and I booked the hotel based on the previous experiences for 6 people and unlike before the clerks were not freindly and the experience was not at all enjoyable.

This hotel is very well located to be in the center of the action and see Austin. Amenities are not for luxury but fits the needs of the budget traveler. The staff are very polite and courteous. I will stay there again.

Walking distance to just about anything in the downtown or Capitol area. Staff, especially the Valets, are very helpful with directions & fun stuff to do or places to eat. Don't miss Serrano's!

Very convenient to everything except South of Congress Avenue Bat viewing bridge. Staff very friendly. Room was a bit small and hotel walls on the outside (not inside ) were a bit unkept. WOuld stay there again. loved being close to 6th Street and to UT. Also it was great to have breakfast included

I travel to Austin every so often, mostly to enjoy the weekends on 6th Street, So Congress and Barton Springs. I love that this hotel is so close to 6th Street activites and they are always nice and helpful at the front desk. Breakfast is good too.

Nice, simple, clean hotel for a good price. Some rooms have decent views of the city. If you want a view, do not take a room at the end of a row - you could end up with your room window looking out into a brick wall.

Very average hotel, expected a lot more after paying more than expected. Was about 0.7 miles from the UT campus and the night life (6th street) so right on the cusp of being walk-able. Pool was nice, as were the beds, very clean and comfortable rooms.

The continental breakfast was a little disappointing, but at least they offered SOMETHING. The place seemed old and not nearly as nice as I was expecting.

There are closer hotels than this one to 6th street, but it's a very short cab ride away. Even if you have to walk it's only about 20 min - we walked to and from 6th street the entire time we were there. Within walking distance to the capitol building, has a restaurant/bar on the premises, and plenty of places to go eat nearby as well. I enjoyed it.

This hotel has a great location easy walking distance from the 6th St bars. It's not the fanciest hotel but it is plenty comfortable enough and will be my first choice for return trips to Austin.

Two sleepless nights due to other guests partying and the hotel staff not doing anything to curb noise. Cars non-stop honking at 2:00 in the morning. Room air-conditioning wasy WAY too loud and had to be set to 50 in order to cool the room to a normal temp.

Nice quick walk to 6th st where all the action is. Plus they have a very good breakfast .

I was provided with exactly what I expected, a clean room convenient to my business meetings. Easy to get to and located centrally in downtown. There are few ammenities but the valet only parking was a plus as your car was always at the front door when ready to leave. The room was not cleaned as well as it might have been but it was satisfactory. Had my wife been along it would have gotten lower marks I assure you. A little high in price for the condition, but location made up for it. I'd stay again if staying on a short term basis. Definitely not for an extended stay.

This hotel was scary. I found two very large roaches in my room two nights in a row. The maintenance people never cleaned my bathroom floor and never cleaned my room well until i complained. I will never stay there again!

Poor parking facility

We stayed to attend an event at the Austin Music Hall and found this hotel very convenient to walking to that venue. We also wanted to check out the music on 6th St. and this hotel was within a very close and pleasant walking distance. The valet staff was awesome....even after I had to pester them twice to let me in my car for forgotten items. Front desk staff at check-in was extremely friendly and helpful.

This hotel was clean and comfortable, but really just a basic room that I wouldn't normally pay more than $70 or $80 a night for. The price was only justified because of it's location. No parking at all, had to give up your car to a valet, and I'm not a big fan of that. Front desk people were nice, and there was your usual free "continental" breakfast in the morning of cereal, bagels, yogurt, etc. Walking distance from the Capitol and hot party district was the draw for us.

I came to attend a conference at the Convention Center. This hotel is inexpensive, but a bit far (about 7 blocks) from the Center. This hotel is nice, but a step down from the usual La Quinta experience. I kept asking for a room with a mini-fridge and a microwave (like I had last time), but they said you have to ask especially for this when you register. The hotel is clean and the breakfast is reasonable, if not amazing.

I booked this one as other hotels were overbooked. This one is about 0.8 miles away from the Convention Center. Since I missed on the dates to book a cheaper hotel which is close to Convention Center I stayed at this location.

Great hotel for a weekend stay in Austin; great location, affordable, and comfortable.

This was my first time in Austin and the staff was attentive and helpful in giving directions and transit tips to travelers. Other hoteliers should come here to see how a front desk, a valet parking attendant and all the staff should attend to the guest. I recommend the hotel highly!

Nice, reasonable accommodations within walking distance to everything downtown, the capitol and the University. Clean, designer bedding. Friendly staff.

Hotel wasn't very well kept. Walked into the room to find used blankets in the floor. That was a bad start. Then we walked into the bathroom to find it unclean with a dead cockroach in the middle of the floor. Overall, the hotel looked very sketchy and had random people knock on our room door. But, the location wasn't far from a fair amount of attractions and te downtown area with many clubs, bars and restraunts to choose from. The continental breakfast was good and the employees were very kin and helpful. Overall, I wasn't thoroughly impressed and expected more from the La Quinta

I was in Austin last weekend to attend my son's college graduation at University of Texas and chose LaQuinta because of the location and price. I wasn't disappointed. The location was excellent. Not only was it within walking distance of the University, but its proximity to the State Capitol and the downtown area was great. In addition, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The valets were great at giving directions and making recommendations for restaurants. All in all, I enjoyed my stay.

Average hotel with a good location. Within walking distance to the Capitol, stadium, campus, and 6th St.

Every employee was very, very friendly. However, our keycards needed daily re-programming to open the outer doors- at first we made it a joke, but the third day it was just annoying. Also, late one night our smoke alarm began the low-battery beeping. The front desk provided a fresh battery, but climbing on a chair to change it out was left for us to do. The location was convenient to the Capitol, University, and a few restaurants, but we used the car to go downtown; the valet service was fast and always asked if we needed directions. Younger and fitter folks would probably walk downtown. I would go back for the convenience, reasonable rates and ample free breakfast.

This hotel is very clean and the staff is courteous. Great location & handy valet. The only downside was the continental breakfast and coffee. Prepare to eat out for breakfast.

Great place, affordable, outstanding service and nice room.

Hotel was very crowded, service fine with the heavy crowd. But it is rediculouse to have to pay to have your car parked in an easy parking garage. An extra$12.oo to have your car parked in a simple lot. I did not know this extra charge was part of the bill. Until check out. And I did not get my LaQuinta points because I booked with hotels .com.

Walking distance to UT, 6th Street & restaurants. Nice clean comfortable room and quite considering the location. 2nd time we've stayed here and will again.

My husband and I had wonderful stay. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. If have any reason to be in the downtown area around the Capitol again will differently stay at this location.
