The Tremont Chicago Hotel at Magnificent Mile - شيكاغو

Arrived at 10 pm. First room smelled -- bellman said unacceptable. given a new room which smelled ok, but AC never worked. Hallway nice and cool, but room warm and stuffy. Overhead fan made it bearable.

The hotel service and cleanliness were fine, but the building itself needs refurbishing. It's an old building and definitely shows its age A little brass polish and some new flooring would go a long way to making this hotel look great. However, we would stay at the Tremont again because of it's ideal location near North Michigan Avenue and its proximity to Ditka's Restaurant.

The hotel was decent enough. Biggest problem was - the doors allowing you into the neighboring rooms had no sound barrier. The door even had a crack in the bottom. We could hear every word they said, and it was loud until late into the early parts of the morning...

Very nice. Some sort of agreement with nearby parking facility would make it perfect.

Clean hotel, small but nice, comfortable rooms. Location was great, right in the mag mile area, short walk to trains, the lake, etc.

The hotel personnel were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the elevated train and wonderful shopping and resaurants. It was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The rooms are small, it is an older hotel but very charming. This is my second visit and I would go back again.

BATHROOM AMENITIES LACKING...ONE BATH TOWEL, NO SHAMPOO, VERY SMALL...GRAT LOCATION...GREAT ROOM RATE.

Walked to the Chicago History Museum, walked the Magnificent Mile and all around the neighborhood. Ditka's for dinner, a walk to Blue Chicago and the Tremont was right in the middle of it all with a comfy bed, and free breakfast.

Rooms need some updating as thry are rather old. There was chipped paint & cracks in the walls, pretty old furnishings and a very old vanity in the bathroom. If Ditka's restaurant advertises they are in the Tremont hotel, they should at least provide room service.

My ONLY complaint about the Tremont Hotel is that there is NO vending machines or snack foods or drinks available. When I got back to the hotel at 11 pm after a long day, I just wanted to lay down & relax. I thought it would be nice to have a Coke or cup of coffee & maybe a snack before bed so I called down and asked where the vending machines were. (No coffee maker in the room either) I was informed that there were none on the property. The closest place to go get something was a 10 minute walk to Walgreens. Since it was raining, I settled for the warm bottle of complimentary water sitting on the desk.... It's not THAT big of a deal. But how difficult is it to have ONE soda machine?

This is a very nice hotel. It lacks some of the amenities I come to expect in a hotel, but it makes up for it in location. It is a half a block from the Magnificent Mile!

Front Desk service was great. It was all down hill from there. From the spotted carpeting, crumb-caked telephone, encrusted taps and toiletries that smelled like spoiled dairy and short, sad list of television channels to the obviously cheap, almost weightless furnishings, repulsive grout and grubby brochures and informational materials, the Tremont was a disappointment. Location is most things - not everything. Shame on you, Tremont.

All was good, very quiet, very comfortable. Staff was very accommodating. Room was clean. Ditka's is right next door, good drinks and food there. Hotel is walking distance to a lot of shopping and food.

the hotel was in an excellent location and the bed was very comfy but overall the room did not appear well maintained. The electrical plates were coming off the wall, one of the miniblind ropes' attachment to the wall was broken and there was a large hole in the wall. Needs updating.

Close to the Red Line (Chicago/State), Rush Street, Michigan Avenue. Not a modern hotel, so older (smaller) elevators, lobbies, rooms, but if you don't care about that kind of thing (I don't, especially when I'm not traveling with the whole family/kids), or especially if you like staying older hotels that have some character/history, this one is clean, the staff is friendly, and it's in a great location. Plus, in the winter/cold months, you have direct access (without going outside) to Ditka's.

Excellent location for a Chicago visit, just off the Magnificent Mile. Old building but well maintained and very clean. The king bed in my room was awesome - no lumpy mattress here! Wireless connection was very reliable and fast. The 24-hr valet service is also a plus. I'll book again for my next Chicago visit.

Cordial staff. Sink clogged but were quick to fix it. Room had moldy smell to it. But good location and good price. Extremely slow elevator if running late (aren't they all like that when you need them most ?) - but this one is exceptionally slow: bring a nail file or book to read kinda hotel. Overall good experience given the location and price. I also loved that it was an old establishment that is not too pizzazzey (sp?) and not overwhelming.

I thought it was going to be a good stay but once I was settled in my room I realized I could hear the neighbors talking loudly and was immediately concerned. The hotel was no doubt a very nice hotel at one time and the location is wonderful, but if you want to sleep between the hours of 11 and 3 am, you may not. Pillows were old and lumpy as well and the front desk hit or miss when it came to being helpful. Great guy at night and very unengaged and bad customer service in the morning.

Other than location, this hotel is mediocre at best. Halls are dingy, elevator excruciatingly slow, chipped paint, etc. It is, however a place to stay (bed was comfortable) ver close to the Mag Mile as long as all you want to do is sleep. It appeared the bathroom had been renovated more recently than anything else but not completely, i.e., new tile floor but the basin faucet would not turn off without hitting it with an object (in lieu of a wrench, which I didn't happen to bring with me.) If you want to sleep inexpensively (relatively) in a very posh area, this is a good choice. Staff was indifferent at best.

Called front desk, no answer..no hot water (felt more luke warm), not really good on space either. I reserved a standard QUEEN and it felt as if I was staying in a standard small sized room. The closet was in the bathroom behind the door (this was really annoying)..the ceiling fan turned on by itself and the alarm clock made static noises that I ended up unplugging it and using my cell phone as an alarm clock. Aside from all that, location was great, complimentary wi-fi was good and complementary water was good.

The Tremont is in a great location, but is in need of updating.

This hotel is charming, small, and cozy. Very friendly and helpful staff. I was very comfortable there and loved the neighborhood feel of the location..yet it was convenient to restaurants, theatres and shops. I would love to stay there again.

Nice hotel for the price. It was small and older. Had very nice staff, very willing to answer any and all questions. Could use some renovations, I think they were starting on the lobby when we left. Windows were single pane and let in cold air. Excellent location, but the parking was a little confusing and expensive.

Small room that never warmed up. ( It was in the teens, but with two large windows, the antiquated heating system couldn't keep up.) Vintage hotel and great location for a good price. Parking was over half the cost of the room.

We.moved to this hotel from another one and it was great! The service was great, the room was great, the bed was awesome, it looked very nice and clean. Plus the restaurant it is connected to was awesome! Definitely considering this hotel again for our next trip to the city!

Good central location. Not many amenities - no coffee in room. You can walk a few blocks to a local grocery store that has an excellent selection of fruits, a deli, salad bar and extensive wine and beer selection. Take a right out of the hotel - go 2 short blocks to end - take a right and the store in on your right.

It's super old hotel, nice rooms they vary in size. Your located 2blocks off of Mag mile, few blocks from rush & division where a whole bunch of bars/clubs are located.

Very bad stay which I evaluated on the Tremont web site!

I found my room very cozy and clean! My bed was very comfortable and luxurious. The towel service was also very luxurious - nice and thick and soft towels! The continental breakfast offered for $10 at Ditka's next door was very elegant! A nice change from the normal chain hotels! and so close to the John Hancock and the Magnificent Mile!

Saturday night stay in the city Jan 2013. Booked a king room, it was more than we expected. Extremely friendly staff, nice size room w/ comfortable bed. I'm surprised by how inexpensive it was. Would recommend!
