Was a bit unclean, but ok to stay overnight. Low price with good location made it an ok deal.

Never wrote a review about anywhere i have stayed before but seems this place gets such a bad name that is not justified, thought i would write. If your looking for luxury then dont stay at the Modern. If your looking for a cheap room, no frills, central location then stay here!! The staff were great. Breakfast basic but fine. It is not in the red light district, it's like 30 seconds walk to central station. If your not overly critical and want somewhere cheap. I recommend. Me and mate had a right laugh here!! Oh, the room was clean also. No bed bugs or scabies!!

The room smelled like cigarette.

Stayed with my girlfriend the one night and ran out as soon as possible. The room felt unclean, with shades of stains on the carpet and one of the walls. Everything seemed half finished: - The room's main door couldn't open all the way through. The wall is placed over the door's hinges, blocking their full range of movement. This makes it harder to enter the room. - The bathroom didn't have its own door. The only separator from the main room was another door in the corridor. It felt extremely weird. - The toilet had some toilet paper floating inside, which isn't a sight you want to see as it's supposed to be pre-cleaned. Room walls were colored green, except for a white rectangle on one of them, which didn't seem new- the white seemed dirty. - The heavy window shades covered only one third of the window. - The closet had one door missing. The hotel's location is part positive (close to the central station) part negative (this doesn't seem to be the best neighborhood, with stripper joints around). It does befit the hotel, which looks like it's not meant for overnight stay, more for charging by the hour. Stay away at all costs.

The staff at the reception were very nice and helpful and the hotel is in a good location, but that's all. All the hotel is old and not well kept. Everything looks dirty and very old. The breakfast is really poor and does not look very attractive. It is a cheap acommodation in a good location, that's all.

The hotel Modern was in a good location close to the train station and lots of restaurants nearby. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bed comfortable and clean. The hotel was in a extremely worn and dirty condition the stained carpets and rotting curtains , mouldy food in the bar fridge and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling spoilt an otherwise convenient hotel stay. Would not reccomend to family and friends.

This hotel was perfect for my travel buddy and me as all we needed were a bed, clean room and easy access to Marienplatz (main square area). It took about 5min to walk to Marienplatz. There was also a pretty decent free breakfast, nice front desk people and a tv in the room. Also, a big thank you to the employees who found my passport after I accidentally left it in the room when I checked out!!

This hotel is across the street from some strip clubs, as well as a door to one is adjacent to the door for one. But if you’re not in out in the middle of the night you won’t notice. Other than that it is in a good neighborhood. Close to the huaptbahnhof (main train station), a 10-15 min walk to Merianplatz and the Glockenspiel. The hotel was good. It had a king bed, Small couch, desk, small refrigerator, and a wardrobe. The bathroom was clean. Breakfast was include, a standard small Europe spread. The carpet seemed dirty but the bed and bathroom are well kept. This hotel is a good place to stay if you want a good price for a decent hotel.

I needed a convenient place to stay in Munich after 3 weeks in Italy, and even after reading some of the comments here, I gave it a shot. So I had low expectations, and they were definitely met! It is a convenient spot, but that's where the plusses end. The room was not in good condition, with 3 of 4 lightbulbs in the ceiling fixture dead or broken, and the two on the bedside table didn't work. When I mentioned this to the housekeeping guy, he changed them immediately. He seemed to be the only person on the staff who was interested in helping a guest. Also, in the corner shower that many European hotels have, one of the pieces the swivel to close was missing, so it was hard to not get water splashed around the bathroom. The staff were borderline hostile. The daytime desk clerk seemed to be running a day care center with 4 noisy kids all using their hand-held video games off the lobby. When I asked if there was somewhere quiet to access the "free" wifi, the clerk directed me to the breakfast room, which is a restaurant at other times of the day. Even though it was completely empty, the waitress yelled at me for trying to use my IPad without ordering food. The clerk said the same thing, and when I tried to check email in the hallway, he said I was in the way. Why won't I just go and buy something in the restaurant? The breakfast food itself was fine, but the woman running the room was very angry. When I asked for coffee, I waited a while, and after she made the rounds giving coffee to people who arrived after me, she yelled at me to wait. And I make an effort to ask for things in the local language, but you still get an angry response in German. I saw her yell at several other guests during the two days I was there. It made for a very tense atmosphere there. I made a point of not making eye contact with her to avoid her wrath. I'm sure working at a lower-scale hotel near the train station is a tough job, but if every day you go to work, and just yell at tourists a

The hotel is well located, few meters from public transportation, 10 walking from Marien Platz, one of the must see sights in Munich. Every detail of the hotel indicates its age. Furniture, carpets, everything. Room service is just about acting like cleaning, but the target is not realy cleaning. Windows are dirty, corners are dirty, first day arrived, found a big obvious urine stain on the toilet!! Receptionists try to be freindly and helpful. Breakfast is very standard, but service is awful, no smiling, not english talking staff and if you ask more than 1 question they start to act very rude. Free Wi-Fi exists, but as there is no lobby, if you miss the single seat at the stairs you will have to use the stairs! Conclusion, i am sure with same prices, you can get a much better place to stay. Definitely i paid too much than it deserves. The only advantage they had a free room!

The Hotel is great. For the price it was so much nicer then the more expensive places we stayed in Paris and London. I really great hotel, once you get in the front door. It's in the area right by the train station which is full of hotels, shops, restaurants, and Strip Clubs. They are everywhere. They're not too loud, but late at night they attract some drunken yellers and such. Don't stay in the area if you're looking for a quiet, out of the way place. The staff and the restaurant were very good also.

Hotel Modern was pretty shabby, even for the low price I wouldn't stay there again. Nearby were better choices in the same price range.

Enjoyed our stay....room was clean....hall carpets were worn...but overall a good buy for the money...staff friendly ....area not so bad...we walked home at 1100 pm after opera...cant beat the location

THE hotel was very close to the train station. Not even 5 minutes, easy to find. I don't think it was in a good neighborhood. It felt like the bad neighborhood of a middle eastern country. We did not have a problem with that but some people I could see this would be scarry. The front desk was very friendly. The rooms we're very noisy. They have an inner door that is missing. I think this would cut down a lot. Every time someone opened or closed door you could hear this and anything they said. It was on top of restaurant so there were some strange smells. The carpet had lots of stains. They needed to clean them.??

If the price is the only thing that matters to you, a stay at this hotel can be considered. Don't have any expectations though. negative: very poor maintenance level of the hotel, wifi only in staircase positive: insulated glass windows, basic breakfast included, close to subway and train station

The breakfast was fine. The place is very convenient, being very near to everything, especially the train station.

I have no complaints whatsoever about this hotel. True, It's located in a bit of a seedy neighbourhood, but the main train station is a three minute walk away, the room was spacious, the bed was fine, and contrary to other guests' experience it was very quiet at night. I slept with the balcony door open, no problem at all. For this price I was expecting way worse.

The Hotel Modern is anything but Modern. It is very close to the Train station and inexpensive. Those two elements may sound good but they should also indicate disaster. The neighborhood was very seedy even at 7am when I arrived at the train station. I got to the hotel and noticed it was very near the strip clubs, dirty casinos, and hobos were abound. I dropped my bags and went to the good side of Munich and had a wonderful day. When I returned to check in at 4pm it became clear this was a hood. I did not feel safe in the streets then let alone when it got dark. When I got to the room the floor was stained, there was no AC, and the balconies were all interconnected so opening a window was not an option. I stayed in and sweated until my train was due the next day. Recommend to AVOID

I wouldn't stay here again. Hotel was surrounded by strip clubs and our room was very ugly and not very clean. Felt like we would be broken into. Also the patios are all conected so couldn't leave the window open.

By far one of the worst hotels we have stayed at.It is nothing like the pictures,the hotel is extremly nasty, aqnd to top it off it is located by three strip clups.Also located in a bad side of town and the breakfast is located at a little run down place next to the hotel.I guess the saying is right."you get what you pay for!!!"I sugest that you pitch out the extra 30 or 40 euro and stay in a much nicer hotel.

FYI, this hotel is in the "Red Light" district. There are plenty of strip clubs and other forms of alternative entertainment on Schiller if that's what you are into.

The room was small, the furniture old, the smell was awful, it was damp and we had a wafting of cooked food in our room. It was so stuffy we had to keep the window open all the time we were there. The corridor was just as badly decorated and kept. The breakfast was just about adequate.

Absolutely morbid hotel. Carpets date back to 1950's, they are filthy, have burn marks all over them and smell disgusting. Rooms are not cleaned & dirty towels not replaced. I definitely do NOT recommend this hotel

The hotel was in the red light district, but in Germany that's not as bad as it would be in the US. The rooms were clean. The breakfast was good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was a little run down, hut not too much so. I didn't expect a lot because of the low price; therefore, I was very pleased with what I found. There was a lot of noise on the street, but that is typical of big cities and older buildings. With a good set of earplugs you can overcome that problem. I would recommend it for a night's stay.

Hotel Modern is located about two blocks from where you walk out of the train station Munich City Center. The many strip joints (nude women), including the next door on the left, were not a problem for a single guy but may be for a family. The lobby and hotel receptionist were acceptable. The hotel elevator was not working which made it VERY difficult to get to the 6th floor with luggage. “Guessing” by the age of the paper signs they have on the elevator doors, the elevator has not been working for a long time. Also, the room was in major disrepair, it was very old, and looked nothing like the photo. “MAYBE” they just haven't remodeled the 6th floor yet. Yes, for the very low price, I would stay there again.

Manualla at check in check out was very good, helpful. Hotel is run down--grafitti on elevator walss, it holds only four people and did not respond to summons from the fourth floor but will stop there on the way up. Room was not complete with linens, no cups in the bathroome, turning TV on was a challenge--having written instructions on operation would be helpful, no remote control for same, ceiling "chandalier" had missing light bulbs which were never replace during our stay.

We read the reviews and had appropiate expectations. For the money, it was great and it provided the primary purpose which was a room and a bed.

The hotel is super close to the main train station and very convenient to walk to. It is however on a street with a bunch of late night restaurants and strip clubs so it's loud at night. The hotel is okay, it was clean but a bit smoky, and not in perfect condition. For the price and location it's not horrible, but I'd try to find a different place next time.

This hotel is located in the "red light" district! There are numerous strip bars around and lots of pictures of naked women. Very inappropriate for children!!!!! We had to wait over 25 minutes for someone to arrive to check us in. Then the room was very small and hot. The staff was not at all helpful and even deceiving. We checked out early and they would not give us any kind of refund for the remaining days we prepaid but did not stay. Do not stay at this hotel, it's not worth your time or money!

Close to the railway station - clean room , friendly and helpful reception staff and good value for money. Had a room at the back of the hotel which was very quiet.

Saimme heti tultuamme vaihdettua huoneen allergiahuoneeksi, joka oli siisti ja sisäpihan puolella. Hiljainen. Ovien paukuttelu kuului huoneeseen, mutta katumelu ei.Ystävällinen palvelu ja aamiainen oli muuten riittävä, mutta ei ollut mitään vihanneksia eikä hedelmiä.

Uberalles meine Erfarhrung bei diesem Hotel war schrecklich. Die Zufriedenheit, Sauberkeit und Service sind gar nicht empfehlenswert.

Slitet hotell utan extra bekvämligheter. Enkel frukost ingår. Bra läge nära Hauptbanhof och väldigt billigt.

Die zentrale Lage des Hotels verleitet die München-Besucher die Sehenswürdigkeiten im Zentrum zu Fuß zu unternehmen. Die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel sind gut an das Hotel angebunden, für den Fall, dass Ziele entfernter zu besuchen sind. Das Zimmer war etwas altmodisch, die Dusche jedoch gut, das Frühstück ausreichend. Für den Preis konnte man sich nicht beschweren. Beim nächsten München-Besuch würden wir wieder dort übernachten.

сопоставляя стоимость проживания и расположение в самом центре,- с некоторыми неудобствами в части комфорта (очень старая модель телевизора, ужасное качество, 2-3цвета всего, нет телефона, нет холодильника),-считаю неплохой вариант для недолгого проживания, 2-3 суток. Вокруг много казино, стрип баров и прочих мест ночных развлечений.
