The room was very small. The light didnt work on the night stand only a bright light on the fan that you could not dim. The fan didnt work and the ac was not blowing hard at all. The noise in the hall from people coming and going was very loud at all times.

Room was very clean, neat and modern. Room was very small. Bathroom was very tiny but modern and clean. Only room for one in bathroom. No refrigerator or coffee in room. No cups or ice bucket. No bottled water. No coffee bar in hotel. AC was nice and chilly but noisy. Bed was comfortable and clean. The room reminded me of being on a cruise ship. Excellent location. Valet parking was somewhat cumbersome. I would recommend self parking in the public garage one block away, which is probably where they park anyhow. The beauty of the hotel maintains the Art-Deco theme throughout the hotel and rooms.

The location was really good. Very close to everything. Easy to get to by bus. The rooms are very small, I had read about that in the previous reviews so was not surprised. The bathrooms are even smaller. The door and the shower door collided when open at the same time. There is no where to put any stuff at all. The air conditioner was really loud as well as the elevator (our room was right by the elevator). There was no continental breakfast as stated by Hotels.com, just an overpriced restaurant. And the restaurant out front made it nearly impossible to get in the front door without dodging the entire wait staff just standing in the way. A year ago, we had visited South Beach and were taken with how open the front of the Winterhaven seemed, how open the lobby was, that is why we decided to stay there this year, but in a quest to use every square inch for money making, they have bogged down the front like every other place on the beach. We will stay somewhere else next time.

The hotel rooms are absolutely beautiful and the beds are very comfortable. If you want to have a real South Beach experience, the location of the hotel couldn't be better!

Staff really service minded, good condition on the hotel and rooms. The restaurant on the front side, attached to the hotel really good food.

my stay at this hotel a nightmare

GREAT location and wonderful staff. No hidden fees. Public parking garage just a few blocks away and across the street from the beach. It doesn't get any better than this!

Overall very nice. Right on the beach and in the middle of all the nightlife. Rooms a little small and can be noisy at night. Restaurant and bar in hotel quite good. Good choice for south beach stay.

If you're looking for a big room and bathroom this is not for you - but if you want the Art Deco experience of a smaller hotel with lots of funky style then you'll love this. Clean, well operated and just on the North edge of South Beach crazy. My only surprise was no in-room coffee though you can get coffee in the patio cafe downstairs or any number of patios close by.

This was my 4th time to stay at the Winter Haven. I keep going back because the location is perfect, but I've always wished the rooms were a little nicer and the staff would be a little more friendly and helpful. Well, I've finally gotten my wish. The hotel has been remodeled and the rooms are super nice now. And I was surprised at how professional and helpful the staff were. Front desk quickly resolved issue I had with the prepaid reservation. My only complaint is that there is no ice machine anywhere in the hotel. But there is an ice bucket in my room??? Hopefully they resolve this oversight soon. Other than that minor nit, awesome location, awesome staff, awesome room!

This was a GREAT Location and Value!!! The room was better than other similar rated hotels in the same area where I stayed. The only problem was the ceiling fan controls were not user friendly and the TV malfunctioned.

Walking: 3 minutes from the beach, 5 minutes from happy hours in either direction, 10 minutes from Lincoln Rd. Cab: 5 minutes from Sunset Lounge, 30 minutes from airport, 40 minutes from Gator Tours. Front desk staff always cheerful and ready to help. No ice machine on the floor, but available from front desk, they will bring it to you. AMAZING rooftop patio.

We had a good time. Staffs were helpful and friendly and location was right on. Good choice of location and price. Ann and Brian are the best hosts.

Room was great, location is right on the beach front. Breakfast was a bit average, but otherwise a excelent hotel.

First time out here.. Wasn't getting in till 5:30 in the morning si didn't want to spend to much money for a few hours to lay my head down. Check in was quick and friendly. Beds were super comfortable and room was clean got all my monies worth and more. At check out we were going to walk around as the hotel is located in a great location and right across the street from the beach, the friendly stuff asked if we needed anything else and afford to hold our bags till we were ready to go to our next stop!! I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again!!

Its a good place to stay if your not there very long, I only have two issues with hotel one, that the hotel did not have a vending machine ( yes so staying here your going to have to walk eight blocks to walgreens or drink Miami's nasty tap water. Secondly there is no pool at the hotel.

We loved our all-too-short stay at Winter Haven - a perfect location on Ocean Drive, a beautiful art deco hotel that is wonderfully maintained and with great, tasteful decor that matches the hotel's exterior - I felt transported back to the 1930's in the best way possible. The room itself was beautiful, smelled great, was cool, clean, and inviting. As for the service - we were enamored by the wonderful lady who welcomed us at check in - so friendly!!! Also, the breakfast was a nice surprise. Overall, a great place that I will certainly return to!

My family loved the Winter Haven! It's a nice Art Deco hotel that has been recently restructured. The beds were extremely comfortable, the rooms smelled clean (yes, there were a few spots on the carpet, but nothing I would consider a deal breaker), the bathrooms are brand new, the staff was really nice (particularly, Mariya, I hope I spelled that right!). We did valet parking for our cars, but there is a public parking a few blocks away. The location is great: right across from the ocean and Lummus Park (you can see the palms from the hotel lobby), within walking distance to Lincoln Road and Espanola Way. We had children with us and we felt the area immediately close to the hotel was really safe (we did not go out very late at night, though). The hotel has a deck on the 6th floor with a nice view on the area and the ocean. The front porch is a great place to people-watch. Breakfast was fine, although they might have needed a few more tables. There were bagels, muffins, cereals, pastries, milk, coffee, tea, yogurt and fruit. We loved our stay and it was a pity we had only planned one day in the area.

other than that. it was pretty darn nice.... a great value for the location and coolness of the hotel

Completely Remodeled! Very Pleased!!!! Will be Returning SOON......

This is a very basic room with basic amenities however, the location is very convenient. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful which is what made the stay so pleasant.

Had an absolute wonderful stay at the Winter Haven hotel which is located just across the ocean. Walking distance to all the best restaurants and night festivities. Arrived on 7/4 and watched the fireworks on the beach. When we checked in the people at the front desk gave us information on great places to eat. The food was excellent. The modest $10/day fee which is for snacks, towels, and internet was great just for the internet. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Bathroom was a little small w/shower only. Had a problem with a jack hammer on Friday morning starting at 7:30 which was not pleasant. The hotel is still undergoing some renovations and is putting in a kitchen. When I mentioned the noice to the front desk - they had Brandon (the manager) contact me. He apologized and gladly took off the $40 fee for my entire stay, plus when I got back to the room, there were two bottles of wine, 2 bottles of Figi water and cookies. This was a nice touch. Any questions I had, the folks at the front desk were happy to help. There is also a very nice top floor patio w/outside shower that I didn't know about until my last day. Very happy with the hotel and definately planning a return trip very soon to stay again at the Winter Haven hotel.

I was awaken by banging noises from the other side of the wall. When i walked out to hallway, I found my self in the middle of construction zone. The room next to us was being torn down and rebuild from the scratch. Receptionist was nice enough to upgrade us to another room, so next two morning were peaceful. Next day elevator did not work for 5 hours, and minor construction in the lobby. Overall hotel has a good potential, so I'd suggest to wait a bit longer till they finished with renovation

Didn't stay here was not what was booked front desk said its not garanteed what you book online they were not accomadating immediately check out and stayed at an awesome hotel

This trip originally got off to a rocky start. we had purchased an oceanview room and that was not availble upon arrival. the hotel made up for it by moving us to a roof top suite with a private terrace and sweeping ocean view. The staff was very nice, friendly and accomodating. The location is perfect, right in the heart of south beach on ocean drive.

Not sure if this place is being knocked down or being developed. However room was comfortable and the hotel is in a good location. They have a mandatory charge not included online that entitles you to cold hard boiled eggs and cereal on throw away plates and cutlery located in the main lobby that adds a feeling of cheapness and just leaves that impression of being ripped off by some shoddy management. A few extra staff and the completion of the construction/destruction they are undertaking might make this a pleasant place for a quick stop over. Doubt they'll be seeing us again.

Hotel is nice and good value. Got charged a mandatory "amenities fee" on check in for a breakfast, gym discount and internet I didn't need/use, but location was great and we were overall very satisfied. Very professional staff. Clean.

Nice hotel with a fantastic location close to the beach and the water holes was around the corner. Renovated rooms, but the pillows could be better, so bring your own. Breakfast was better than expected. Even if the reception and bar area was still under renovation we enjoyed our stay !

The Winter Haven has beautiful rooms for the comparable South Beach price. The staff is very friendly. Im sure that once the construction is complete the main room will be awesome.

Staff was friendly and helpful (even offered an upgrade when I asked for an early check in time); hotel was under remodeling (no construction noise at all during my stay tho); location- awesome! Across the street from beach and convenient to everything else; stayed a weekend during spring break but room was very quiet (was never disturbed by noise/parties); room-on the small side but the cleanliness and comfort more then made up for it (beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in)

This hotel "would" have been great if the lobby wasn't in remodel mode all day long - although they did put it back together for breakfast. The floors were being sanded and finished all day long, so the noise was irritating, you could sit outside, but not inside, and you had to navigate your way through the lobby to get to the elevator. This hotel "would" have been great if we were there at another time. There was a music festival and spring break going on. Our first night there was loud music from the club next door going on half the night. We were told that it would stop at 8 pm. When it was still going on at 11 we called the front desk - they said they would get back to us - a half an hour later they still hadn't called. We called hotels.com and they contacted our hotel - only then did they call us back and move us to a room on the other side of the hotel. We couldn't hear the music but were next door to a roomful of girls partying all night long for the next 2 nights. That being said the rooms were clean, breakfast was included, the location is right in the heart of the deco area, and the staff did the best they could.

The hotel was in a great location! Conveniently located across from the beach & on the lively strip of Ocean dr. The rooms are on the small side. The one issue was the valet service. I had to wait almost an hour for my car! Very inconvenient!!!

The location, room, service and hotel was fantastic, the only reason I rated the condition of the hotel less than a 5 was due to the construction that was everywhere....can't wait to see it when its completed!

hotel was in a very central location and right across the street from the beach. Room was small but comfy and clean. they are doing renovations so there wasn't a light in the bathroom, but those were going to be installed soon.

Nice little hotel on Oceans drive. This means you are close to everything and right on the beach. The rooms are OK but quite run down. As I stayed at the hotel there was renovation on going. This did not affect my stay but hopefully the rooms will be better in the future. I had breakfast included which is ok. Location of this hotel is everything!

This hotel has an amazing location and if you are visitng Miami on a random weekend in January this is your hotel to be at. Streets are not crowded with college kids and plenty of parking spaces are available. They are renovating the upper floors first and our hotel room was newly renovated. The bathroom was done fairly well and felt clean and inviting. The bed was comfortable and from the window we could get a glimpse of the ocean. The location is excellent and with $11 resort fee you get beach towel $5 bar coupon, breakfast, snacks in the lobby (fruit and granola bar), and discount at a nearby restaurant. Front desk service was excellent and they are willing to help. I did not hear any renovation noises like the rest of the review says but if you are in your room long enough to start noticing noises, then why are you in Miami to begin with? Overall EXCELLENT deal and I am really glad I chose this hotel over other overpriced, over hyped hotels on Ocean Drive.

Good hotel, friendly staff and the hotels location is perfect and close to lincoln road. The rooms are ok and clean as you would expect. But if you want a big breakfast buffé you should take another hotel. For me the breakfast was ok but nothing special. If breakfast isn't so important for you i clearly would recommend staying in this hotel since the price for the location is very good!

great Location but walls are PAPER thin. I could hear the couple in the room next to ours simply having a normal conversation. They weren't yelling or anything, just talking. It was really hard to fall asleep. In addition, we had an ocean view which was nice at first, but at night it is nearly impossible to fall asleep with all the hustle and bustle on Ccean Drive. I wish they could put some insulation in the walls to mask some of these sounds. Everything else about the hotel was great. Staff was friendly and helpful, location was great, room was clean, etc. Only compliant was that i didn't sleep more than an hour or so. Oh and one more thing....obviously the bathrooms were designed by men because the sink was so tiny that there is no countertop to put makeup bags, hair dryers, or toothbrushes. You literally have to hold everythign in your hand when getting ready. In addition, the lighting in the bathroom is minimal and not enough to put on makeup.

The hotel is all about location. It is close to restaurants and bars but not directly above them. So one can walk to them without being disturbed at night. The rooms are decent size but the bathroom is small. I would stay again.
