Excellent service and very comfortable room, powerful shower

My family and I stayed here for 4 nights and it is a wonderful hotel. The rooms are great, the courtyard with swimming pool is very pleasant and relaxing and the facilities are great. Food is not cheap in the hotel's restaurants, but otherwise our stay was perfect!

The only down side --- it might not be a down side for some. It is open plan for bedroom and bathroom. no door or wall. Other than that, the hotel is perfect.

We were recommended to stay at The Sofitel Metropole Hanoi by friends who had stayed there previously. It's historic charm and authenticity has been well maintained whilst bringing it up to 21st century expectations. It is well located and we were able to explore the old city easily on foot.It also has one of the best Vietnamese restaurants we ate at The Spices Garden we were extremely happy with our choice

What a gem! From the moment you walk in th rfont door you know you have arrived at a legendary Hotel.Sophisticated,Charming,Amazing.They have the best spa I have ever been too! It is worth just travelling to Hanoi to stay at this Hotel.Our room was very comfortable and spacious with facntastic amenities.We were there at Xmas time and the Xmas decorations surpass most major cities.

It is without hesitation to say this is the best hotel in Hanoi. Worth the money as the rooms are impeccable, the food and drink choices are fantastic and the service is first class. Thanks for a great stay!

Amazingly done. Great service, answered each and everyone of our requests; higher floor, different bed etc. Great gym, very relaxed pool atmosphere. Breakfast was simply perfect. Not a better place in Vietnam, truly a remarkable hotel. An experience on it's own!

we stayed in the old part of hotel, it was just an experience not to be missed! Just great location! Very nice old world decor and pool area.

Undoubtedly the best place to stay in Hanoi. Facilities are well maintained, with a quality gym, pool and business centre. There are a host of restaurants to choose from each day and night too. We opted to stay for 8 nights. We stayed in the stately older section - took a Luxury package and enjoyed a lovely bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Altogether, wonderful.

This is the best hotel we have ever stayed, service is really very good, close to the old hanoi city. This hotel has soul !!! so magnificient !!

A truly luxurious experience. Sitting by the the beautiful pool and sipping on a Dry Martini was great. But: How come a hotel like this charges heayly for WiFi? Which only works in the lobby and not in your room?!

Go to Hanoi, enjoy Hanoi and its streets at its fullest, and when you get tyred and weary, go back to the hotel, an island of sofisticated tranquility in the caos of the city.

Upon arriving (from recommendation of a friend) we upgraded to club level which is pretty ridiculous - afternoon tea, evening cocktails complimentary, breakfast etc. Ridiculous - but makes you not want to ever leave the hotel. The rest of the hotel is lovely and historic. Pool is lovely. Location of this hotel is really fantastic - I think that was my favorite thing. It's right by the beautiful main lake but not in a too too busy tourist area. The patisserie with awesome lemon macaroons and homemade icecream isn't half bad either. In general prices to eat here are pretty high FYI. Another downside is that the spa doesn't have nailservices - disappointing

Very high level ofservice. People very accomodating. Only confusing issue was one of cabs...seems they have a "deal" with a few cab companies...and wont let you use any cab you hail...cabs they hail are more expensive ( we are talking about small amount of money...) but confusing..one of their hails could not find where I wanted to go after he told the bell man he knew what I wanted. And, the cab they got for me on my last day was late, after I ordered it the night before. Bell man blamed concierge, who was not there at the time...overall...would give them a 99 percent rating and would stay there again.

Great service in the heart of Hanoi. The staff is very nice and the hotel is beautiful! Was offered free internet access since I was staying for 5 days. That was really nice since internet access is about $25/day. The only thing I didn't like was the spa services.. the massage was pretty bad..and considering the cost, that was the only downside. My wife felt even worse about her massage. We ended up at a outside massage place hoi coc(sp?) that was great for 1/3 of the price at the hotel. The restaurants were good..not great.. the french restaurant in there was over rated.. food was very high quality but bland. I liked the Italian steakhouse much better. use room service a lot and the general restaurant for pizza,pho, ice cream and breakfast.. all very good. Didn't try out the Spice restaurant.. seems to have only grilled food. Hotel is about a 5 min walk to the famous lake and 10 min to the old quarters.. you can also take a cyclo ( 3 bucks/hr ) to take you around if its too hot or your lazy like me. For 3 hours plus tip its only 11 USD! What a deal! Hands down one of the best 5 star hotels I've been in.. and I've been in a lot of them.

Sofitel has two properties in Hanoi - the colonial-era Metrolpole and the new Plaza. Both are excellent with excellent service, food and facilities. If you would like the comfort of a hotel that "reeks" with history, antiques (real and faux), and elegant decorations, then the Metropole is an outstanding choice. Meals are a little pricey, considering the standard and its sister hotel, the Plaza, but breakfast can be included in the standard rate. The Metropole's location is also outstanding in the heart of the historical quarter.

A perfect place to stay in Hanoi. Service of the highest calibre.

I think this hotel can give you a good experience in Hanoi. In fact, Hanoi city is very crowed and chaotic. Staying in this hotel can make you feel being in another world. I would recommend this hotel for those who want to stay and relax in busy Hanoi. Nice and easy life in Hanoi is yours when you stay in this hotel. One minor remark here is the check-in process in a bit slow but it is accpetable for me in 5 stars hotel arena.

深夜到着にも関わらず、日本人スタッフが出迎えてくれて、不安なくチェックインできました。 本館の重厚な建物は、歴史を感じさせます。隅々の掃除も行き届いています。 滞在中に頼みたいことがあった時は、すぐに日本人スタッフに連絡してくださって、すぐに対応してもらいました。 チェックアウトの時も、日本人スタッフがタイミングよくお手伝いしてくれて、見送りをしていただきました。ありがとうございました。

ホテルの立地、雰囲気、サービス、申し分なくとても快適にリッチな気分で過ごす事ができました。チョコレートビュッフェは全て美味しく、つい欲張ってしまいました。プールは欧米人が多かったです。お部屋もスタイリッシュな感じで大人も満足できる空間でした。また是非、利用したいと思います。ホテルのシクロも利用しました。

Certainement, l'un des meilleurs hôtels du monde et un lieu unique et plein de charme. Depuis mon premier séjour en 1995, l'aspect est certes devenu un peu plus "clinquant" (boutiques de luxe, construction d'une aile moderne, etc.) et c'est peut-être dommage. Il reste que l'hôtel est exceptionnel et que tout est parfait. Un seul détail toutefois : faire payer Internet (pour le séjours de moins d'une semaine) dans un hôtel de cette catégorie est pour le moins anormal... Un accueil systématique à l'aéroport, sans qu'on ait à le demander, pourrait aussi être organisé.
