Hotel NH Nacional - مدريد

The hotel is modern; our room was pleasant and comfortable. The desk help, including the owner, work extra hard to help guests, and serve a delicious breakfast. A few electrical glitches (our temperature control didn't work; the elevator broke down briefly), but the service made up for it. The hotel is in an evolving, bohemian neighborhood--very colorful, but I wouldn't recommend any of the restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

No doubt a smart choise if you want ta stay close to many sights. A lot of restaurants of all cahegories around. Metro 1 minute away. Not noisy. Very nice and helpfuk people at threfront desk

We had booked this wanting to be close to the sights and close to the Atocha train station where we arrived in Madrid from a repositioning cruise ending in Barcelona. Imagine my delight when we walked out of the station and saw the National 300 yds away. The Hotel is a Historic bldg. and has been remodeled nicely. Staff friendly and helpful, room overlooking the Botanical gardens and another 300yds to Prada Museo. We opted out of the Hotel breakfast thought it was too expensive and there are many resturants around and a Mickey Dees next door. Also hop-on hop-off stop in front. Great hotel for the price, nothing fancy but clean and great location.

We were only there one day before going to Cordoba and being close to both the Prado and Atocha station helped us make the most of our day. The surrounding neighborhood is mediocre and solid food options are limited but the hotel itself was quite good.

Fantastic location, nice room, good price.

Large, comfortable rooms and friendly, helpful staff. Walking distance to all the art galleries and straight across from the park. Easy access to metro and the 'hop on' bus stops outside. Reception can get busy.

The room (standard double) was a bit cramped, even by European standards; this was amplified by a rather odd furniture arrangement. Our room was clean, but some of the furnishings were dated (and rather worn from use) and general maintenance was lacking - room HVAC did not function properly, thermostat was damaged, and tub drain from the room above leaked thru the ceiling vent onto our toilet (a rather rude awakening in the morning). Common areas were quite nice, although there were issues with the entry doors from the street. Great location, directly across from the Botanical Gardens and very close to main train station. Overall, not the worst hotel experience, but very far from the best.

This hotel is close to the beautiful Retiro Park and the Prado and other museums. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable and the staff is pleasant and attentive. There is a buffet style breakfast that is good. But if you like to sleep at night, make sure to get a room that does not face the street and especially not on the lower floors. The level of noise (traffic, sirens, people yelling, etc.) is unbelievable and it goes on throughout the night with no let up. The free wifi is so slow that it is pretty much unusable. The premium wifi service worked well enough but is way too expensive. The login is complicated (you have to get codes from the front desk for each device for each 24 hr period) and the system logs you off after any short period of inactivity. There could be better air circulation in the rooms, especially in the ones that don't face the street. The water temperature in the showers was hard to control and water pressure was not so great. There is no real restaurant in the hotel--at least we couldn't find it. I think they have a dining room for large groups or for meetings but it is open only by special request. This is a real drawback.

Very close to Madrid Atocha, which is crucial if traveling Spain by train. Would use this hotel again for subsequent trips.

Great location, great staff, great rooms. Only one complaint, not very good internet service...slow and cumbersome. This becomes an issue if you are traveling for business.

Nice hotel - void of some personality though. Lifts VERY slow given the hotel was catering to a number of large groups so for work I probably would not choose to stay there again. Entry/exit out of main doors difficult due to the set up with opposing doors opened - made worse when large groups going in and out as there was only one door and thus a big queue.

Hotel was nice, location great. Took day trips so it was just a walk across the street to get the train. It was the most expensive of all the rooms we stayed in on this trip, (Barcelona, Valencia & Paris), but really my biggest complaint was that they charged for use of the computer. All the other less expensive places provided computers as a courtesy.... kind of a slap in the face to pay top dollar and then be charged extra for every little thing. Room was comfortable, building kept up nicely.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at NH National very much. We loved the location. We were having issues with the WiFii services the first day, but they fixed it.

Second time staying here in 5 months.The auto front door to lobby is still broken.Close to transit /train station.Close to museums/parks/shopping.Very busy pedestrian area.Clean and quiet rooms.No parking.Friendly/helpful staff.Would stay again because of it's location.

This Hotel is probably the most convient location in Madrid. Its basically across the street from both the Atocha train station (5 min walk) and 5 Min walk to the Prado Museum. And it was quiet

We spent three nights there. Asked for a room high up towards the rear and were given 729. Perfectly quiet. Excellent buffet breakfast included in our rate. Prado, Thyssen, Sophia museums all withing a mile. Easy to walk to restaurants, tapas bars in the narrow streets by the hotel. Staff behind the desk very helpful. WiFi free for 30 mins in the lobby. But walk to McDonald's next door and it is free all day. We could actually log on to McDonaldsWiFiGratis at some locations in the breakfast room.

Didn't think the hotel was worth a 4 star rating, but is very convenient and is nice enough.

Very terrible Internet service. No Wifi. Could not use the computer in the room so had to go to the McDonald daily to check email and work done. In this day and age not having access to Internet is terrible. I would not stay there next time.

It was a nice room and everything was clean and comfortable. I have 2 things I wish were different. First, having wifi in the hotel room is a must for a 4 star hotel nowadays and they wanted to charge for it. Plus they only allowed 30 minutes of free wifi in the lobby per day. This greatly limited my time to check emails for work and research our itinerary for our trip. Second, there is no concierge or area of tourist information in the hotel. The front desk was helpful to a point, but this is also a necessity that was missing. Again, the rooms were very nice, just a few key things that should make this a hotel worth visiting again. Otherwise we'll go somewhere else.

Excellent location. Walking distance to to the Atocha train station and El Prado museum. Spacious, quiet and clean room. The breakfast buffet is expensive, but there are several alternatives for breakfast nearby. Double-decker tourist bus stops in front of the hotel.

We spent 6 nights in NH Nacional, the service is very good, excellent breakfast, clean facilities, friendly staff and good location. The hotel is between two busy streets and next to a roundabout, so there is street noise even during the night, this might be problem for light sleepers. The hotel is quite near the metro so it is easy to get around Madrid. Atocha train station is in easy walking distance, with excellent connection to Barajas Airport for less than €3/person. The botanical garden is on the other side of the street, Parque Del Retiro one block away, museums like Reina Sofia, Prado and Thyssen and all close by. If something is to be improved, the WiFi was too expensive, with three digit room price, it could be included.

The service in the hotel was great. It is close to the train station and metro, and to the Prado. But if you like a little more action, it would be wiser to stay closer to the main plazas. Because it was quite a walk to all of the sights from the hotel. However, it was right next door to the 2 great museums and the metro and RENFE station, which was what we wanted.

I'm a frequent business traveller to Madrid and have stayed in at least 12 different hotels in the city center in the areas known as Sol, Retiro and Atocha in the past 5 years. I reserved at NH Nacional thinking this was the NH Paseo del Prado, which is about 3 blocks away on the same street. My room at Nacional was sub-par compared to several other hotels nearby, including the sister hotel up the street. It was small and cramped, with a view on a dingy small interior courtyard. Interior courtyard -view rooms often are quiet (which I'd requested) but my room turned out to be next to the housekeepers' supply room. I didn't realize this the first morning, as I had very early meetings and left my room before the housekeepers arrived. The second morning, when I was indulging some US-to-Europe jetlag and had later meetings, I was woken by multiple very loud voices, banging buckets, running water, and rolling carts from about 7:30am. Another drawback was the 10.60 euro charge for wi-fi and, worst of all, the signal was very weak. This is a deal-breaker for me when traveling for business. I won't stay there again. On the plus side, the hotel is in a convenient location for train travelers as it is next to the Atocha train station. But the subway system is so good and easy to navigate, even for non-Spanish speakers, that being located next to the train station shouldn't dissuade travelers from finding something better and cheaper farther away. the other advantage of this hotel is its also across the street from the botanic gardens (worth the visit!) and the Prado (obviously worth the visit!), the Reina Sofia, and a short walk to Plaza Santa Ana, the Thyssen, etc.. Its a fairly large hotel with a decent lobby and good breakfast. But it isn't anything special. Whether you are in Madrid for tourism or work, there are many similarly-priced hotels that have nicer rooms, more interesting decor or are in historical buildings, and that are in nearby or better areas.

I am not sure I would stay here if I wasn't in transit. But in transit its fine the customary NH efficiency. A good location for the trains and close to the rest of the city for dinner.

Good location and Room was OK. Staff assistance was grudging and everything was extra - they seem to have a policy of trying to flog you upgrades for anything they can think of

Very nice hotel. Service was good. Room on the small side and you need to be on the higher floors to avoid the street noise. We were in a room the first nighrt on the 5th floor and had some problems with the bed and street noise. We relocated to the 6th floor the second day and the room was much better. The hotel is in a great location, convenient to museums, Atocha train station and also buses and Metro station. There are restaurants and cafes right outside. Very convenient.

walking distance from Atoche train station and Prado museum, expensive buffet breakfast 17 euros not included. I had to cut my stay short by one day and the hotel would not refund the difference or apply it to any other charges

The hotel is in a great location in town. However, the street noise in the rooms is extremely loud at all hours of the day and night, even with the noise shield down over the windows. Even with earplugs, it was difficult to sleep. So, we ended up switching to an "interior" room (eg, no windows) even though we paid for the city view room. Service from front desk attendants was just ok. Just an fyi, the rooms do NOT look like the photos.. they're smaller than the basic room photos.

This hotel was in an ideal location. It is was very close to the train station and two of the biggest museums in Madrid. Ideal for catching an early plane. The only thing that I did not like is that the room was small.

Initially we were given a room facing inside. But when we requested a room facing the street, the receptionist gave us a nice room with balcony a quiet,pleasant room. For inexpensive breakfast McDonald is just next door, There are quite a few eating places across the road. Great location - close to museums,buses and metro.

Great location to the train station, walking distance with our lugguage. We were only there for one night, but the surrounding neighborhood was great for walking and checking out all the restauraunts.

Be careful because anyone from outside could easily walk around the hotel even in the breakfast hall! you need to watch out for your bags

I have been to Madrid a lot, and I have always got a hotel near Sol. This time I chose Nh Nacional near Atocha. This proved to be a good move. First, location: literally around the corner from the Prado museum, Reina Sofia museum, and the Atocha train/metro stations. The bus stop outside the front door of the hotel is also a bus turistico stop. It is a short walk to c/ Huertas (5 min), Thyssen-Bornemisza museum (10 min),pl Santa Ana (15 min), and just a little further to Sol and Plaza Mayor (20 min). I loved the location of this hotel. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable. The only downside is that only the lobby had free wifi. If you wanted wifi in your room you had to pay, a lot. We were give then choice of an inside or outside room, and chose inside as Paseo del Prado is a major thoroughfare and there is a lot of traffic. There was no noise from the street or other guests that we could hear in our room. The breakfast was typical of Spanish hotels: cereals, pastries, fresh juices (pear-mango was delicious), meats, cheeses, etc., AND eggs to order. Good quality, great variety. I would definitely stay here again, and I would reccomend it to others without reservation.

We face the problem of noise from the downstair particularly at night. Apparently the hotel staff told us that hotel aircondition system was not working. It was too hot and stuffy unless the window was opened.

The hotel was very nice and well maintained. Staff was fluent in English.
