Hotel Madera, a Kimpton Hotel - واشنطن

The hotel was very cleanly and comfortable. Staff was pleasant and location was great for going out at night. The room layout was a little strange and I wish there were more fitness amenities and closer to downtown, but great overall!

The hotel staff was amazing; friendly, accommodating and dedicated to making your stay comfortable "like a guest in their home". Fernando was an absolute gem!!! What the hotel was lacking in amenities -- the staff made up for in service. The construction out front made getting a cab more difficult ..but guest services would run up to the next block to hail a cab -- no delays.The wine hour was fun and a nice touch to make the transition from a busy day of sightseeing. The lobby was small but they make it work. Bathrooms are small, the separate vanity area outside the bathroom balance the tiny bath area. Our updated queen room was a generous size with a comfortable bed, new linens and nice artwork. Had a delicious breakfast @The Firefly restaurant -- I was embarrassed that I ate such a large plate of french toast -- the personal appearance of the waiter was lacking. We were looking for a boutique experience and found it @ the Madera. Overall the Madera was a great experience.

My friends and I stayed here for a bachelorette party and it was the perfect hotel! Our rooms were huge and the hotel itself was in an awesome location! The restaurant downstairs was very generous with their drink pours, and they extended their brunch specials to us as a courtesy even though we were no longer in the brunch hour. The staff was also professional, and polite, and even came up to our room to take a picture of our whole group, as a courtesy! I would definitely stay here again!

The Madera appears upon close inspection to be an older (80's?) hotel that has been very heavily remodeled very fashionably. It's stylish, well-located, and has an extremely friendly and professional staff. Clean, well-maintained and comfortable. Great restaurant on the ground floor. We did not bring a car, but parking looked a little tight and a bit expensive, but I think that must be par for the DuPont Circle area. Easy walk to the Metro, food, etc. Can't say enough good things about the staff. Room was spotless, desk staff was very accommodating, and yet not lacking in personality. There's none of the institutional sterility that comes with a bigger chain, e.g. Hilton. Comfy bed, nice linens, couldn't ask for more. Picking nits: Some fundamental things that probably can't be easily changed: our King Balcony had an extremely small shower/toilet area, though having that separate from the rest of the dressing/sink area was extremely convenient. No coffee or hot pot in the room, which really isn't laid out for it, but coffee service in the lobby. Putting on pants before my first cup of coffee is not part of my usual routine, but it's hardly a deal-breaker. Overall a very nice place to stay. We'll be back.

My room was very spacious. Included a fitness area with a bicycle and tv mounted on the wall, which was very cool and unexpected. However, the bathroom was tiny. And the entrance of the hotel was a construction zone; work being done on the street. Wish I had known this detail prior to booking. Stayed just one night then moved to another hotel.

Although they were in the midst of a renovation, nothing short of a major overhaul can change the astonishingly small bathrooms and the lack of a lobby. My redecorated room was comfortable and large, though and the staff is friendly in that Kimpton way. The elevators were tiny and slow and trashed.

The king size room was small but the bed was very comfortable. The room was exteremly clean and fresh. The service was excellent and the wine get together was fun. The coffe and tea were supurb. The Dupont Circle location put it close to restraunts and dance clubs.

First thing that is noticeable when arriving at the Madera is that the street in front of the hotel is torn up, making access to the hotel less than optimal. Once inside, everything changes for the better. The hotel is terrific with 4 Seasons service and accommodations at Holiday Inn prices. The rooms are perfect for the biz traveler with plenty of convenient power options for laptops, cell phones, etc., a great workspace, and very well appointed rooms. The beds and linens are comfortable. The service staff was great, making up for the inconvenience of the construction by making sure there was a steady stream of taxis that reached hotel guests.

The hotel staff are attentive and the location is excellent. Unfortunately, this stay, the hotel is under renovation and general upgrade of rooms, a bit unsettled. It would have been helpful if this was noted since I might have reconsidered this stay at the property. On the whole, still a good value and good place to stay.

The staff was very friendly. The rooms were very small and walls were very thin. We could hear a dog barking the whole AM of our departure. The restaurant downstairs was AMAZING. Great food Great Service. The wine hour the hotel offered was a small amount of wine in a very cold lobby where there was limited seating. I will not stay there again.

This is an odd little hotel with almost no lobby. But it works and with reasonable rates. I'd say two nights max. Didn't get much help with bags. But they had all the little things people tend to forget like shaving and even collar stays! And the location is great - steps from DuPont Circle and the Metro. So I recommend.

Great experience, best service I've experienced. Attached restaurant was really good. Room well equipped and convenient. Only drawback was 3rd floor room facing dumpsters was loud when truck came for trash at 2:30 am. Ask for higher floor!

I read the great reviews before I booked the hotel and was very disappointed by my stay. Although the staff could not have been nicer and more accommodating, the rooms were severely outdated and the bathrooms were tiny. In reading Tripadvisor reviews after I checked in, there are supposed to be renovations to the rooms in early 2013. Do not stay here until those are done.

The staff went over the top. The rooms were much larger than expected. The location is ridiculously good. Firefly's a really good bar. We have done 12 boys' weekends in 12 different cities and this hotel was the best combination of what we wanted. Downsides? It's not Ritz and doesn't pretend to be, but it's definitely above average appointment-wise. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The hotel is lovely and very conveniently located. I walked to the Smithsonian and the White House easily, and Dupont Circle is literally a block away. Others have noted that the bathroom is small, and it is, although that wasn't a big deal. The shower, however, didn't drain well, and the first day I was there, the hot water was in short supply, so that was kind of a bummer. But the staff is amazing, and very warm and welcoming. If you have to get a car to the airport, they will book you on a flat rate which was very convenient. All in all a great stay and I will definitely try other hotels in the chain.

Excellent location near Dupont Circle Metro, restaurants, Kramerbooks etc.. Excellent restaurant on-site: Firefly. Seems popular with locals, especially young professionals. The hotel and restaurant staff was very professional, friendly and helpful. The layout of my room was a bit odd but the decor was lovely. Lobby is small but they serve afternoon wine and morning coffee. Have to request coffee pot for room but they do supply plush terry robes.

The hotel location was great. The only problem we had was the parking. We used the valet and once we checked out we realized that there was some type of white-ish residue on the car. Was not sure where that came from-either the actual garage or from a neighboring car.

We were very happy. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

The staff were exceptionally friendly. Room large but bathroom on the small side. Location close to DuPont & University area. Would return to this friendly hotel.

The hotel was nice enough, but the website pictures are fairly generous. I was a little bummed out when we walked in. The room was okay and was clean. Bathrooms were tiny. Also, the restuarant/bar was closed for renovations. It would have been nice to know that before we selected this hotel. Probably wouldn't return.

The Madera is a perfect DC hotel - great location that is close to the Dupont Circle metro and all that this cool neighborhood has to offer. Though small it has an amazing restaurant worth a visit for a meal. And gym amenities at their sister hotel a couple of blocks away. Service is exceptional. Just don't count on an inexpensive breakfast on site.

Room was spacious and comfortable and in a great location. Mistakes happen but noone seemed to be concerned when they overlooked cleaning our room and were more than happy to just drop off towels without cleaning the room after bringing it to their attention.

We chose your hotel because we were traveling with our dog. The room was very pleasant . The staff was very friendly to us and made our dog feel comfortable. This was our first stay in a hotel with our dog and it was a very positive experience. The location was great for walking to the shops and restaurants in Dupont Circle and also the neighborhood behind the hotel was great for walking our dog.

The hotel itself is as charming as the neighborhood, but it is the staff that made this stay to wonderful. They were incredibly accommodating and attentive--I couldn't have asked for better service!

Hotel very nice and able to check in 4 hours early,which was very convenient on a Friday which really gave us another full day to visit the sites.

This is a comfortable hotel, spacious room, good location near lots of good restaurants and metro is close. Walking distance to many attractions.

We really enjoyed our stay because the staff was very accommodating and the hotel was very clean. The room was spacious and very comfortable except for our air conditioning system not getting as cold as we wanted it to be. All the amenities were provided and we especially loved the bathrobes. Brunch in the Firefly restaurant was also excellent.

Parking in DC speaks for itself. However the Madera had more reasonable rates than nearby hotels. Staff was helpful and informative and willing to steer you to reasonable restaurants. I am well past the "Georgetown" experience (within walking distance) and looking for total value for my dollars. The hotel is small enough (87) rooms to pay close attention to details and customer requests. Especially impressed with all the front desk people. I definitely will book again.

Nice room. Good service. My gf and I just wanted to have a nice romantic weekend. As were getting ready to leave we noticed something odd, there is no full length mirror. Just seemed odd. Other than that it was great.

Overall the stay was great because the location cannot be beat and the lobby is refreshingly trendy. However the room (King w/ Balcony) felt barren and was definitely created with a faux semi/permanent dividing wall -- it seemed awkward. To see light through the corners of the dividers where crown molding was missing and know that the room which was advertised as 'soundproof' obviously was not just seemed misleading.
