Crowne Plaza Hanalei San Diego - Mission Valley - سان دييجو

Nice hotel, but the name made us think it was an up scale newer hotel. The name has been changed. Everything is Pacific south seas decor. Lots of plants and great for the dog. It is more of a relaxing old style hotel. Really liked the patio door out to the plants and lawns on the first floor. The hot tub was only a few feet away.

Room 1216 was a bit neglected in terms of maintenance. Armoire lights would not turn off because doors would not fully close. TV picture was poor due to loose cable. Bathroom light was intermittent due to switch issue.

This is supposed to be a four-plus star rated hotel yet it has fallend into an average hotel. We were subjected to two or more girl softball teams who swam and made noise until 10:00 PM and then ran through the corridors knocking on doors. We could not get to sleep until past 11:00 PM. This used to be a hotel where your stay was quiet and above average but that has left this hotel. I told them that after staying there for over 40 years this would be my last stay. We left a day early (this morning) because of this and hope Hotels.com will refund our last day.'s rental.

My only issue was I could not locate the I e machine! I dined at the restaurant the staff was awesome and the food hot and delicious, used the pool and the facility was clean and had plenty of towels, and the guest room was clean, and beautiful with a nice view of the pool! We will be back!

This hotel is close to SeaWorld and the beach, which is great. But it's surrounded by other hotels and there is no place to just walk around and explore. Also, the room was comfortable and nice, but I was disappointed the cost of the room did not include parking or wifi. Even the most basic hotels I've stayed at have included these amenities at no additional cost. On the plus side, having a fridge and microwave in the room was a nice feature.

we had a terrible stay at this hotel. it wasn't the hotel's fault... rather it was the other guests staying there. when we got there, the front desk "upgraded" us from a king room to a queen room. we said no. we need a king. so we got to our room, and i think i know why he tried to "upgrade" us. the room had french sliding doors to the hallway. why you ask? to let all the noise in! it was single-paned to let all the noise in. to top that off, there was a large group of parents drinking beer by the pool with LOUD music on, with their 30 or so kids running around screaming. in the morning, we saw the kids wearing some sort of softball uniforms, so i'm guessing a tournament for 12 year old girls team of some sort. the music stopped at 6pm but the screaming kids running around did not stop till 10:30pm. both nights that we were there. we have a 3 year old, and he even said that it was loud and it prevented him from sleeping. the room itself was clean, but the carpets were aweful. the hotel was probably built in the 50s and updated in the 90s with a hawaiian tiki-theme. and it looked like it hadn't been updated since then. there was a delapidated hut next to the pool, and the dining area was dark and dingy. needless to say we did not eat there. there is little difference between here and the vegabond inn across the highway for 1/3 of the price. i highly recommend you looking into that option.

Good Hotel. Better price. Closely located to old town district and major malls down the road. The hotel service will take you to the zoo, old town and any close place for a small tip.. I will stay there again.

Overall the hotel was fine but my room (first floor on the courtyard) was very musty - smelled like the carpet had been wet for a long time, and I had to pay for WIFI, wihch I think nowadays is silly.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights for a Sea World weekend trip. I'm from Inland Empire 2 hours North. This hotel was very nice. The landscaping was perfectly themed. My son liked the big fish aquarium in the lobby area. The restaurant served good food and there was even a small snack shop in the lobby area with coffee. The room itself was very big with lots of closet and cabinet space. Check in and out was easy. Very comfortable hotel.

As usual the front desk staff was extraordinary - Adam, MOD. The only disappointment...I expected free wi-fi in my room because I had it in September when I was there. I have stayed in cheaper hotels that had free wi-fi in the rooms. Small item unless you need it and find it is going to cost a high fee to get it. But, overall, a pleasant stay.

We've been staying here since it was the Hanalai years ago. The change in names has not changed the quality at all. Still very clean, very friendly and fairly quiet.

We had dinner at the restaurant, and were seated right away. We treated very well by all the staff. We plan to stay there again.

At first appearance the hotel seems great. We checked in only to find out we owed an additional fee for parking. We had been told when we booked that it was included in the price we already paid. We got to our room to find we didn't have the fridge and microwave as the description said we would. We needed that since we have a baby that needs her bottles. They switched us to another room that did have a fridge. The fridge didn't work. They brought us another fridge but it froze everything and we could not turn the temperature down. The bath tub did not drain, the toilet had a lingering smell, the sheets are what my husband calls paper sheets. They are very stiff and hard. When we went to use the hot tub and pool they were so dirty. They were allowing drunks to be in the pool with their alcohol even though it was supposed to be a family place. I couldn't let my toddler come with us because their were cigarettes and empty beer cans all over the place. When we asked the front desk about taking care of the mess they kind of blew it off. It was extremely disappointing. Last thing we hated was the fact that we had to pay extra for wifi. That only covered one devise. We both have iPads but had to pay a fee for each iPad each day. That is ridicules.

Check in and out process was great. Resturant was good but pricey service was a bit slow. But we were on vacation so we didn't care. Our bathroom door would not close. No big deal for us. Pool area is nice. Parking was convenient. One thing that was cool, if you skip out on maid service you get $5 coupon to spend on food at the hotel.

The stay was great. We were very disappointed in the quality of massage specialists.

The rooms were dated. Limited parking and with a price. Also there was a charge for internet. For the price wasn't worth it.

Just one recommendation. The sheets were too stiff which made it uncomfortable. Other than that it was great. Thank you

I have been a meeting planner for ten years and I wasn't expecting much for a one night stay in a three star hotel. The service was excellent, the sushi bar exceeded expectation and the location and convenience to SDSU were great. Good job to all on staff. It will be my hotel of choice when visiting my daughter at college

I most likely wont stay in this hotel again since it doesn't offer free wifi!

Much less expensive than surrounding hotels and still a nice room and amenities. I would stay here again. *Note* The only issue was having to pay to park at your own hotel.

Check-in process was ok, however when I got to the room, I noticed that one of the two sinks in the room were clogged with water in them. When I used the second sink it never drained and the water just accumulated in the sink. I proceeded to call the front desk who had maintenance and fixed the problem. This was pretty inconvenient because I was in a rush to get to a meeting. Soon thereafter I noticed the toiled was clogged as well, so I had to call again to get the issue resolved. Obviously, there is plumbing problem atleast in the part of the hotel that stayed.

Rooms didnt smell. Restaurant was good. Nice landscapes. Will return.

I was very upset to find we had to pay 24.00 to park. That's crazy!

The rooms are a bit "older" and the walls are a little thin, however every single person that works at the Crowne Plaza are top notch. Excellent employees, friendly, always smiling, and helpful.

We stayed at this hotel at least 3 times before. Pool was not useable as it was not heated. The jacuzzi was dirty - gross. There were people partying below our hotel room, I tried calling 4 times and the front desk was continually busy - so no help in getting some quiet. I think the people below us were smoking marijuana. Constant door slamming woke us up throughout the nights. Koi fish were gone - which is something our family really enjoyed in previous other visits. Mattress was not comfortable. Seems they are cutting back at this hotel. Sad to see the decline.

Would definitely stay here again.

The common areas, i.e., the lobby, restaurants off lobby area had terrible smelled of a need to rip out the carpeting and paint the place. I liked the Island decor but needs updating. Bathroom in lobby were surprisingly clean. Who thought you would need to go into a bathroom to escape the smell! The staff was excellent and very accomodating. They charged per day for internet access which made me have to leave the hotel and lug my laptop to the mall. Unless you could access a AT&T Hotspot you had to pay. No common area free internet. Not very hospitable.Pool was very clean and well kept. Unless they replace all the carpets and paint the entire lobby/restaurant area I will not stay there again.

Staff is excellent. Food is good. Room was clean . Terrible bad smell in lobby and restaurant! Needs rugs replaced. Needs to be painted. Pool well maintained. I saw vacuuming done and when I got up and walked past dirt was clearly visible. Would not go back due to dirty smell.

Not impressed with the level of service. The 2nd day of my stay, I ran errands most of the day, got back to my room around 3:00 pm thinking it would have been made up by housekeeping by then. I thought wrong. They showed up after 4:00 pm, at which time I was on a business call, so I couldn't have them cleaning at that time. The next day I left my room at 6:30 am for meetings. When I got back at 6:30 pm (12 hours later) the room STILL hadn't been cleaned. Also, the room directory stated their coffee bar opened at 5:30 am. Since the in-room coffee was terrible and only made a single cup, I decided to go to the coffee bar. Walking into the lobby, I asked hotel staff where the coffee bar was located. They informed me it doesn't open until 6:30. I mentioned the directory saying 5:30 and their response was that the directory hadn't yet been updated. There were a few other service issues, but hopefully by reading this you'll have a good indication.

I liked the location of the hotel in Hotel Circle. Very close to the freeway and downtown. Paying for parking seemed a bit much at $12/day. The pool area and restaurant were good. We also experienced really good service by the restaurant staff and front desk agents. It was worth the money we paid.

We first visited there in the early 60's. My wife was at the pool while the palm trees were being put into place in the lawn by cranes. We took our children there and one of them celebrated her honeymoon there. This time she and her husband stayed in the same room while her sister took another room. My wife and I always return for this is our favorite vacation spot in these United States. Had wonderful meals and the surroundings are magnificent. Will be back!!!

Definitely got what I paid for - no 5 star hotel nor is it a roach motel either. First the GOOD: Service was great from check-in to check-out was great including the restaurant. Accomodatation was not so bad (see below). Buffet was awesome if you paid for it upfront. Now the bad: Climate control in the room needs to be serviced. It was hot while we were visiting and the room tempurature felt muggy at best regardless of the thermostat setting. Parking spaces were made for Fiats sized vehicles - totally small and ridiculous (thank god for rentals).

i just wish the rooms were either a little bigger or didn't have that huge TV stand/closet taking up so much space! we opened the door and it hit the chair behind it. other than that, it was a pleasant stay. liked the sushi bar and the staff was nice.

Classic hotel that may need a little love very soon and a return to it's Tiki roots. Location, convenience, cleanliness are solid...Where's Ian Shrager when you need him...this place could be outstanding.

The old school Hawaiian campiness of this place is a delight and so is the staff, however, those are the best things I can say about the place. It has been poorly maintained, has a musty smell, and over all needs help. I give it 2 1/2 stars.
