AWESOME location and facility. HOWEVER, they are ripping their customers off for WiFi access. Seriously? Such a nice property, this should be included in the room rate.

We had a wonderful stay and the staff could not have been more helpful. We wod highly recommend this hotel to anyone. At the rate I got on line I felt like I was stealing. Thanks to all

The beautiful pictures weren't what we found. Our room was 'weary' and needed the carpets cleaned, a new mattress and updated. Mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. We heard every word the people in the next room said every night. Parking is almost as much as the room! HOWEVER, lovely bar and very helpful staff.

We were taking bart into the city and wanted some place within walking disdant , while dragging our luggage. it was perfect .When the opertunity to stay at your hotel came up.we took it. We just got off bart and we were there! We enjoyed the hotel, what a beautiful place to stay in. The staff was very helpful, especially a women at the desk who made sure we would have a room to get ready in, as we were going to the ballet at 2:00 pm. We would love to stay again.

Wonderful classic hotel with a gorgeous dining room full of crystal chandeliers, tastfully done! Very comfortable bed in "cozy" room. Bath was adequate with typical shower/tub combination. No veiw to speak of, but GREAT location right across from BART. Walked to Union Square, Top of the Marriott for city/Bay Bridge view, as well as ChinaTown. Would definitely stay there again!

As a couple staying there we walked everywhere in san fran and when we got back to the hotel we just wanted to soak in the hotel hot tub for a minute. To our surprise at nine o'clock at night the pool area was completely over run by screaming children. Now I don't mind kids but I have become a huge fan of hotel policies that state no children in the pool area between the hours of say 8:00pm-10:00pm. Other than that the location, the staff and quality of the place for the price is second to none... thanx

The Palace Hotel has a GORGEOUS dining room. It is well worth the visit, but unfortunately, it is also ridiculously expensive. This dining room made me want to stay there, but the rest of the hotel is not as beautiful or as special as the dining room. Don't get me wrong, it is nice, but not amazing. The whole experience would have been pretty good if it hadn't been for the Concierge having no idea what time the Chinese New Year parade started, and having no idea how to direct us to the hotel, given that Market St was blocked off (the only way to get to the Palace by car, without disobeying traffic laws is from Market St). When we were just half a block away, we were diverted off Market, and thanks to the Concierge's terrible directions, spent 45 minutes in the worst traffic I have ever seen in SF. Boo. When you pay this much, the service should be better.

It's our first time, me and my hubby is amaze with the hotel. Our room is Amazing with high or vaulted cieling!! The frontdesk is polite. We went to the bar its nice and cozy! It very nice location and minutes away in union square!! I will definetly comeback

4 star accomodations but: 1. The pool is too clorinated. 2. The cost of one 3 minute phone call to an out of area cel phone was over $24.00 dollars. This put a bad taste in my mouth regarding our stay.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The rooms were filthy and had a really bad odour in them. We changed rooms and found that the second room awas just as bad a the first. I am SPG gold and have never stayed in such a fithy SPG property anywhere. Infact this was filthier than $30 motel. I would never recommend this hotel to anybody.

We just had a newborn and a friend offered to baby sit so we can have a nights sleep. It was easy to BART in, service was impeccable and the hotel was beautiful. The bed was so comfortable and room was lovely. I enjoyed the bathroom so much I took a bath twice. So nice to have that luxury without a fussy baby. We splurged and had brunch there. Brunch was AMAZING! Our server was so nice and the food was delicious. The setting was so beautiful I felt like a princess. Even though we only live 20 min away, it felt like a mini vacation. I recommend this hotel to anyone.

Beautiful hotel, professional staff and great location for convention at the Moscone Center. Bart station right out the door. Couldn't have been any better! Thanks hotel.com for getting us a great rate!

Very comfortable and well msintained. Courteous and competent staff. Five star quality at half the price.

I stayed at this hotel in 2004 and again in February 2012. Both times, I was impressed by the service and sheer opulence of this hotel. Fortunately I was able to get an amazing price for such a luxurious experience. This hotel is in a great location and gives an aura of history and grandeur that only a 103 year old hotel could offer. The rooms have been remodeled with quality, but they do show their age. This would be a 5 star hotel if they did another update. If you want a Four Seasons experience, then stay there. For the price, the Palace is great and I recommend it all the time.

Lovely hotel, first time in San Francisco & hotel is ideally located for everything you might need. You can walk to the bay area, shopping centre China town (Chinese New yr Parade right on the door step during our stay!) Really nice pool for relaxing in too. Would stay again & recommend to others.

Great Place to stay. Rustic charm and convenient location. Stayed here for a convention at the Moscone Center and couldn't have been happier. Excellent service. Stayed on for a romantic get away

The service was impeccable. The hotel beautiful and it turned out to be a very convenient location. Plus, we were given a room that faced a quiet street. It was very quiet, which is a real luxury in downtown SF!

Great location. Staff very nice. Great time in San Francisco.

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and have always enjoyed it; it has become our favorite. The service and amenities have always been topnotch. We usually arrive by BART which brings us right to their door. Most of the things we want to do and see are within walking distance.

Love the pool, hot tub and sauna. Very professional and friendly staff. Very convenient location. Love the history of the hotel

Got a very quiet room - a nice surprise for a hotel downtown. Location was perfect. Will stay here again.

We stayed with kids for a night here. The place is grand and my 2 yr old daughter had fun just exploring the hotel public places, stairways, chandeliers etc. The hotel can be a bit expensive but overall given the location (right next to BART and in the heart of the city) and the decor, it's well worth it.

The front desk manager went out of his way to assist us when our key failed to work. When we checked out, he even carried our luggage to the BART station as he could see we were loaded on. It really made the difference in our stay.

Interior of the hotel is nice, it has a certain charm to it especially during the holidays. Service is great, prompt & very welcoming. Hotel itself is historic so the amount of space can leave something to be desired but its SF, there's not a lot of room in any hotel rooms to begin with. Parking is expensive & typical of the hotel parking rates in SF, but there's convenient 3rd party locations nearby. Only complaint is receiving your car if you choose to park in their structure, the mandatory valet parking can result in waiting quite a while since everyone's trying to get their cars.

I wan't sure what to expect at this hotel, looking great on a website has fooled me in the past. We stay in SF frequently and usually try a different hotel each time, just for kicks. This place was the nicest one! (OK we don't stay at the Westin St Francis) The location is unbeatable by ANY hotel. Just outside is the underground for the Muni & BART, one minute walk from a quiet Starbucks, and not anywhere near the Tenderloin, which most downtown hotels are adjacent to. Inside was BEAUTIFUL. It is one of the classiest and nicest hotels in SF. The on site restaraunt and bar were overpriced, but gorgeous. Dozens of other choices are within a three minute walk. Parking, like at any other downtown hotel is pricey. If you must have a car there, which you should avoid using anytime during your stay, park in Japan Town. Across the street is the start of Geary which will take you directly there and has quick cheap bus travel. If you read any complaints about people not enjoying their stay in SF, you know they were using a car. Don't do it! Ditch your car somewhere cheap (Japan Town) and don't look at it again till you check out. The room we stayed in on the 8th floor was a little larger than most downtown rooms, but still small. The bed was very comfortable with nice linens and the bathroom was large. The room had everything you would want with a big desk, tons of outlets, operable windows, large closet, nice hangers, a robe, small fridge, large TV, etc, etc. The room was beautiful, as was the rest of the hotel. The carpeting shown signs of a little wear, but the overall quality and location make up for any preceived shortcoming. The service level of each person we encountered was top rate. The bellmen, customer service agents, and wait staff were all very friendly, efficient and good natured. I think I will have to end my hotel swapping and stick to this one for a while.

Excellent location. Union Square, Embarcadero, Church and many others places you would like to see, restaurant and and must-see sights is by it. You are park your car in the hotel with no worry.

Location superb, service and personnel were great. Walls were so thin that you could hear conversations from the next room on both sides. We could hear a cell phone conversation next door, where we could hear both sides of the conversation through the thin walls. On a busy weekend, where both rooms next to you are occupied, this makes for a very unpleasant stay. Rest of hotel is great and has old world charm, but would not stay here again for that reason.

We recently stayed in the Palace Hotel for six nights while visiting my daughter in San Francisco. When we wanted to get a reservation for high tea (a must!) in the lobby on Christmas Eve and were told it was told out, the wonderful concierge, Debbie, got us reservations at 2:00 p.m.! She also took care of a rental car for a trip to Half Moon Bay. Another good recommendation from the concierge for dinner--Waterbar--made our last night together very memorable. All of the hotel personnel were charming and helpful. A really nice stay!

Nice hotel. Fancy yet affordable.

Excellent as always...this was a day of booking and everthing turned out extremely well considering it was Christmas eve.

The lobby of this hotel is beautiful, but the rooms are pretty old and in need of rennovation. My bed sheets had stains on them. Luckily I had two twin beds in my room, so I just slept in the opposite bed. The only good thing about this hotel, aside from the lobby, is that it is within walking distance from a few major shopping centers. For the price I paid per night, I would not recommend this hotel.

A luxury hotel, well-located with a Bart station on the corner. Free morning coffee especially appreciated. The breakfast buffet is expensive but the service and the beauty of the room make it a lovely experience. Lobby was busy due to holiday activities and displays but this did not detract from my visit.

Beautiful old hotel, nice public spaces. Rooms are decent size, bed was comfortable. Great shower/water pressure. However, we could hear everything in neighboring rooms (including people having sex), every sound in the hallways echoes and is amplified. Especially Sunday when people were checking out. There was no way we could sleep in, even wearing earplugs.

The vallet parking was very convenient. I was pleasantly surprised to be allowed to check in early and most of all I loved that after we checked out we were able to leave our car in their parking lot for several hours while we did more shopping and had a late lunch. I can't wait to stay there again.

I highly recommend this hotel.
