Wonderful

The staff was great and very helpful and friendly. My room had a great veiw of ocean and bay. The problem come in the maintence of the building. The hot and cold water was either hot or cold, could not ajust the tempature of the water. The door pass would not work properly, the maintenace person tryed to fix but it still took three swipes to open the door. The built appears to well maintained but these two problem overshadlowed a great time at the Peral.

For the price and rating this hotel did not live up to expectations. The pool that is shown on their website was actually part of another complex that hotel patrons do not have access to. The beds were lumpy and the bathrooms very dated with slow draining water in both the sink and tub. Overall this hotel is no more than 2.5 stars.

We enjoyed proximity of the hotel and services to the beach (pool bar, outdoor grill, and restaurant). Eliminated need for a portable cooler and picnic lunch. Services were wonderful. Prices very reasonable.

Payed way to much for deluxe king size. Was suppose to be a beautiful honeymoon stay turn out to be a horrible honeymoon stay. What i thought would be an oceanview room was a partialview of the ocean with the dumpster in full view along with the smell. Neveragain. Paid way to much

The hotel was decent. We had reserved a premium king bedroom were provided with two queens. Since it was a short getaway for my wife and I, we had to request a change of room which after some persistance it was granted. Also, we were awaken by the loud emergency alarm at 6 am and asked to evacuate the building through the stairs (imagine the sight). However, when we reached the 1st floor (we were on the 4th), we were told it was a false alarm and to return to our room. Suffice to say, my wife and I just satyed up after that.

By far, this is the best hotel in the island. The only other one that I would stay is Hilton, but I absolutely love the Pearl swimming pool and I am not that crazy about the hilton's pool. This is my favorite place at the island!

I arrived tired and ready to relax. After arriving I find out that they are charging an extra 10.00 per person on top of the high daily rate I already paid. On top of that if we have a guest they cannot come up to the room without buying a daily pass of 25.00 which is insane. As I said I was tired from my long drive and was just ready to relax and they give me a long check list and tell me I need to go through my room and make sure everything is there. I'm sorry last time I checked I didnt work for the hotel!!! They gave me an hour to bring this long list back, wow really. The stay was ok the view was nice but not worth the headache of having to do thing that the hotel staff should be doing like bringing up fresh towels but instead we had to come down from the 8th floor and exchange our own towels. Well after the long weekend of working for the hotel check out was horrible since we had to wait for someone to check the room for any stolen items or broken items. Wow really, and to top it off it seemed like they only had one person taking care of this duty when they had over 200 people checking out this morning. Thanks for being the worst hotel I've ever been to, I will not be coming back.

The mattresses were soggy. Felt like I was falling into Freddie kruegers nightmare

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights at the Pearl. Our room was clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. The room was a little smaller than many modern hotels, but still comfortable. The location is also one of the better ones on the island. On the downside, the souind proofing could use some improvement (doors slamming down our hall woke us up). Also the hotel is a little out of date, but the price was right. All in all I would recommend this hotel.

The location was very easy to find and the hotel was very nice and clean. Overall, I would say it was a good experience. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly. We went in February so the weather was a little chilly but I still would have liked to use the pool. I'm from Minnesota so I can handle cold but the pool is not heated. I feel that all pools, even ones in warmer than average climates should have heated pools. It was like stepping into ice water. The area around the pool bar (which was not open though we did stay on a weekday) was heated but very small. So I tried for the hot tub which was nice and hot but had large chunks or hair and skin(?) in it. When we gave up and decided just to eat poolside, the service was extremely slow. It took a 20 minutes to get a drink and an hour after that for a simple plate of nachos. I think there was only one server but we were the ONLY table there. The view from our room was pretty awesome though. The hotel is kind of situated between other hotels so there wasn't much to do within walking distance, aside from the ocean, though the concierge at the door recommended a great restaurant. I would stay again but maybe during the peak season when they are a little more attentive.

The hotel was excellent. Nice, clean rooms. We had an excellent view of the Gulf. Amenities were awesome. Hotel emoyees were verh helpful and so accomodating. Would definitely stay again.

Nice hotel overall...beds are way too soft.

Everything in the hotel was very accomodating. Everyone was extremely nice and seemed willing to go out of their way to go the extra step to make our trip even better. The manager even addressed me by name when I walked out of my room to go to the lobby!! Very impressive he knew my name without having to look at a computer!! Definitely would return here.

The hotel was very satisfactory. The restaurant was a little pricey and the bed was too soft. Other than that, we liked it very much.

Close to family-friendly activities and right on the beach, most rooms enjoy beach views and balconies. Although not a luxury hotel, the rooms were nice-sized, adequately furnished and very clean. One thing of note is that the walls are very thin. Some of the beds are unexplainably lumpy. I switched rooms twice before I found a bed that wasn't. All hotel employees were extremely polite and helpful.

I have been to South Padre Island many times, but this was the first time I stayed at the Pearl South Padre. I was very pleased with everything. It's a great hotel in a great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The king size bed and pillows were great. I wish I had pillows like those at home. I will stay there again.

We have stayed here twice. The first time, my wife and I stayed for two nights. The second time, my wife, daughter, and dog stayed for two nights. Both times we had great trips - particularly relevant to the caliber of hotels available at SPI. We have stayed at nearly all of the hotels there, and there is just not a 5-star option. That said, we had everything we needed at the Pearl. The pool is great - with separate areas meant for adults, for kids, and then for everyone. The property is very well maintained. The beds are VERY soft - as others have noted - but I say that as a positive. We loved sinking in and napping or sleeping. That's probably just a personal preference, but as someone who typically prefers harder beds, I (and we) loved the soft beds. There is immediate beach access, great brunch views, good food, a great outdoor pool area, clean rooms, an extensive gift shop, and easy parking. Highly recommended.

The first room the bed had all kinds of huge lumps and stains, second room was so musty and moldy smelling it gave me a headache. Third room worked out OK. Good location, nice view but for a seasoned business traveler, cleanliness was not up to par.

It was a nice stay but the bed was too soft. There was only a small area of the pool that was heated.

Room was OK and probably as good, or better, than anything available in South Padre. The employees were all very nice and accomodating but there was no safe in the room and the air conditioning was a wall unit which was noisy when on and, as with all wall units, does not give a consistant overall temperature throughout the room. But, this is about as good as it gets on the island so would probably stay here again as opposed to other hotels. But wish they would built a true luxury hotel down here.

The quality was great and the staff was friendly and professional.

Good view and price but needs to be fumigated for roaches. Saw 2 in our 2 night stay. But hey it's Texas.

nice place on the gulf, overlooking the beach between the ocean and the bay. The staff was friendly and the restaurant food was good. No hot water in the first room; husband took a cool shower. The second room was better with adequate hot water, but the heating and cooling was hard to adjust. When the air-condit. was on, it was too cold and when the heat was on, it was too warm. Other than that, it was a good place.

The room was wonderful and clean. The view was amazing. Wishing the price could be like this all year round, instead of by the season :-(

went with several couples, we were all on the golf package. We all had a great time. We'll probably go back again.

The food at the Hotel was okay, not great. The proximity to the beach was awesome. Because it was winter, heat lamps around the pool area would have been nice so we could sit outside and enjoy the sound of the waves longer. Overall, very nice.

Our bed was much to soft. We just sank to the center and had to climb to get out of bed. During our 4 day stay we could not get on the internet with our lap top computer and the hotel would not help us.

Great hotel on the water. Sunday brunch to die for.

I had never really stayed at a hotel at the Island and I was very skeptical about the service and price. I do have to say that I was very suprised with both. I think I had a great price and service. They even helped me in getting a room higher for a better view. It was nice. I recommend this place to others. I just wish I had more time to stay longer.

We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel (it smelled so fresh!) and the friendliness of the staff. We had a problem with watching one downloaded movie on the TV but the tech did repair it within about 20 mins of the initial call.

This was a Sheraton hotel. It does not match up to other Sheraton Resort hotels, but certainly one of the nicer hotels on the Island. If you accept that you are in the Rio Grande Valley, you will be fine with the less opulent accommodations.

Good Hotel, need better beds (too soft), and check drainage of the rooms

My stay was one of the best I'd ever experienced. The staff was beyond friendly, they were all extremely pro-active and competent. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The food was exceptional, much better than what I've experienced in hotels in the past. My only regret is that I didn't have more time to stay there! This trip was business-related, but I'm considering going back for a family vacation.

Nice hotel. The in-room safes no longer work. Otherwise, great stay. Plan to stay at the Pearl next trip.

The hotel was very clean, the worker where very helpful. My family and I love that it was right on the beach. We did not want to come home, the food was great best time ever.
