Nice and comfortable

Just on the other side of the train station, great location, short walk to city centre, staff very helpful, room clean and of big size, some bit slightly dated but all worked fine, enjoyable stay

Although only stayed one night, if coming by train with bags, you can not beat it. Direct walk to the sights under covered sidewalks. Nice bathroom but it was easy to hit the hot/cold mix handle while you showered. Helpful staff.

Goog value hotel

This was my second stay here within 2 months and both times were excellent. I cannot find fault with the service, comfort, cleanliness, breakfast or location. It is directly across from the main train station which is super convenient for the airporter bus BLQ. Normally, I never stay near a train station, but it felt quite safe. The hotel is about 10 minutes from the main square and easily accessible by several local buses. There is a huge outdoor clothing market 5 min away from the hotel on Fridays and Saturdays. This hotel is brilliant value for money. The rooms are clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable and quiet. The Front desk staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. On my second stay, their system showed that I was a returning guest and they upgraded me to a superior room! You will not be disappointed with the Mecure Bologna!

Positives- Excellent value for money. I couldn't say enough about the staff of the hotel, they were very friendly and helpful. Room was basic but nice & clean. Location was great. Walking distance to all major city sights. Negatives- Room was very warm so we had to open window at night. Unfortunately because of location of hotel near train station it was a bit noisy outside.

This hotel was very convenient to the train station, but was a little bit of a walk from the activity in the city center. The room was ecclectic and had nice view of the courtyard - the only thing it seemed to be missing was a clock. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Great location. Hotel could do with a revamp.

Everything I would expect from a 4* hotel + nice staff speaking very good English.

Can't really fault this Hotel but didn't enjoy staying here. Perfect for connections to the rail station & BLQ Airport bus outside the station for 6 euros. Hotel lacks character but is usual top quality Mercure type Hotel inside.

Stayed here for two nights and it was very nice. Right in front of the train station and close to the center. Did not try breakfast but there are plenty of places to eat. Good quality and very clean. The shower could have been bigger for the size of the bathroom.

A Mercure chain hotel older and less maintained than the usual standard Mercure.

The location of the hotel is ideal. According to Belgian standards the hotel has 3 stars and not 4. But we were very happy with the service, bar, internet connection and THE GARDEN. It is really an extra so close to the city center and the station and so quiet. Also the room view on the garden is excellent and quiet during the night time. The rate is absolutely acceptable.

Very friendly staff compared with other hotel near Bologna station I stayed in. I have a young baby and they were very helpful.

Nice hotel and across the road from the central station and short walk to some restaurants. Got uncomfortably warm in the room as the air conditioner could only heat. Apart from that the staff were very friendly and helpful and I would stay there again.

Very nice and well situated hotel opposite of train station and just a short walk to the centre. Very good standard and helpful staff at reception. Good breakfast,clean rooms. Hotel well worth its price. Definately recommend it.

As title, with great price 4 star hotel! If I go to Bologna, I will live there again!

We stayed for four nights, arrived by train from Venice, exited train station and crossed the street and checked in. Check in was very easy and quick and to our surprise we were given a complimentary 24 hr. city bus pass. The front desk was very responsive whenever we asked for directions, recommendations for restaurants, etc. The buffet breakfast which was included in our rate was very good, it included cereals, yogurts, breads, pastries, fruits, sliced deli meats and cheeses, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, and sometimes salad, fruit juices, teas, and a self service espresso, cappuccino machine. Besides being located close to train station, there are bus stops right out the front door, and it is a short pleasant walk about 15 mins. to the center of old town. We took 2 side trips by train to Parma and to Ravenna. This was our first trip to Bologna, we found the people helpful, friendly, not very many tourists, and the food was the best we have had in Italy.

We stayed at the Mercure Bologna Centro in October, 2011, and found it to be very nice. Across the street from the train station, the hotel is conveniently located for travellers. If you have allergies, you have to be careful as some of the "non-smoking" floors still smell of smoke from the air vents. Nonetheless, my wife and I enjoyed our stay, and would definitely go back.

The room was clean and well equipped. Staff courteous and extremely helpful in directions to sites and recommending great, but fairly priced restaurants. We extended our stay an extra day and all was handled with dispatch.

I had a wonderful time in Bologna. My only two gripes about the hotel are rather minor. One the first room I was given, on a non-smoking floor of the hotel reeked of smoke. It was quickly changed to another room. The other was the recommendation of a restaurant in the gustatory capital of Italy. I hasw recommeded to a resaturant after asking for a good to a place that gave me my lasagne 3 minutes after I ordered it! Just a little disappointing. The restaurant the second time was much better, after explaining my concern.

very clean. friendly. reasonable price. close to city center. beside train station and airport bus. only negative was the tiny shower.

The hotel is in a great location if you are getting the train- literally opposite the station. The room was extremely good value and included free WIFI, free bus tickets and free bottled water. The hotel also has a computer and printer in the lobby that can be used free of charge. The breakfast was good and there is an option of sitting outside which is nice. The customer service at the hotel was excellent. They had checked us into a garden-view room without being requested, which was lovely. I don't think there was anything to complain about!

We only stayed here one night, so we could have a proper *taste* of Italy. It was right across the street from the train and bus station which was very convenient, however you had to walk to the center of town. The room was nice, however, they only gave us one towel which we didn't notice until it was too late. Our flight leaving Bologna left early in the morning to Sicily and we were in a rush. I was annoyed with the shower because I kept hip checking the temp guage and getting either a hot or cold shower....and I am of average size.

right opposite bologna centrale railway station and 10 minutes walk to the old city's plaza with statue of neptune. lots of shops and restaurants. taxis easily available. taxi to airport about 18 euros. hotel has very nice and big garden. internet access is complimentary but have to get in 3 hour usage blocks. wifi does not work in rooms but in the lobby its ok. rooms and bathroom very small by american standards. no gym/pool but suppsoed to get discounted entrance to a gym nearby. good breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs.

One is greeted by an exterior of peeling paint; unfortunate impression as Star Hotel Excellsior is immediately next door and spic and span. so is NH Hotel, a block away. Too frugal with staffing of front desk, which while individually very competent is a single person too often. Very inviting breakfast terrace and a generous offer, but many aggressive pigeons and their droppings is a turn off. Internet wireless is free but excessively complicated and doled out in 3 hour tranches, forcing one to go downstairs for a recharge.

We just needed a hotel close to the train station but this hotel was much nicer than expected. It is not only a first rate hotel, but it is directly across from the train station.

Location across from Main Train Station not only gave us quick access to airport bus and trains to Parma, but also was hub for local bus lines that got us all over Bologna. Loved our room overlooking quiet garden and high quality linens & towels. The Breakfast Buffet was very good -- the usual eggs, bacon, cold cuts , cereals, etc. were supplemented by platters of fresh melon, morning croissants and bakery quality breads & cakes. Front Desk & food service staff were professional and attentive. Only bothersome aspect of our 5 nite stay was that walls and doors between rooms lack sufficient insulation and we had noisy neighbors for couple of nights. Overall, we had excellent experience and felt the Mercure is excellent value for the level of service and location.

I cannot imagine staying at a more appropriate hotel if you are a tourist. The service is wonderful, it is a beautiful small italian hotel, the roof garden is everything the pictures show. With all this, the location is still the prize. It is impossible to have a better location.

We vbooked online form Lake Como so we had no idea what we were in for, there was something big happening in town so accom was hard to get. our main purpose for Bologna was to visit Ducati. Hotel is right opposite the station which was gr8 as we arrived by train and then pleasantly surprised with what we ended up with seeing it is a busy part of town and at first you could easliy think it might not be too good at first glance. But no, we were happy with service, room, rate access and would recomend it. By the way the Ducati factory is only 15 minutes away and 15Eu taxi and really worth the visit! The taxi driver will know where to take you, just say ducati factory sit back and relax, but book the tour online first otherwise you wont get in. Just another thing, we made the mistake of going next door for a bowl of pasta, go a bit further and you will be more pleasantly surprised for food. cheers Stuart & Ann May 2011

Short stop in Bologna during a business trip. Mercure was reasonable value when booked early. As a workable place-to-rest it was very competent although as a romantic city break destination it would lack charm. Noisy at night being opposite the railway station but close the windows and you hear little. Attached (independent) parking okay but with a bumper-scraping approach. Leave the Ferrari at home.

I found the location of the hotel excellent, directly across from the train station so convenient for Airport Bus. Also the main shopping street was just around the corner from the hotel. The only fault i would find with the hotel was that the room was too warm. On a plus about the room it was quiet.

We stayed just one night on our way to Florence. Hotel is just next the train station, you cannot miss it. Room was clean but not huge. View from the room was poor. Bathroom was OK

I choose this Hotel as it was near the station for my friend to easily find, it was in a good location and my room overlooked the park outside. Although this hotel on a very busy street I never heard the traffic, but the tv was not good 1 english channel unless you wanted to pay 8euro to watch a movie. The room was cleaned everyday and the hotel staff where very polite etc xx

Mer sentralt enn dette kan du knapt bo i Bologna. Like over gaten for sentral-jernbanestasjonen og i kort gangavstand til sentrumsgatene. Hotellet holder god standard, om enn med preg av litt slitasje, og med irriterende trege heiser. Service og innsjekk i resepsjonen er utmerket, men bar- og frokostpersonalets oppmerksomhet kunne vært bedre. Frokosten er OK, men regn med å vente lenge på kaffe fra den ene kaffeautomaten som skal betjene alle gjestene. For meg er den største kvaliteten ved hotellet den frodige hagen hvor du kan få servering fra baren. En fantastisk oase å slappe av i. Mercure Bologna gir god valuta for pengene, og kan anbefales.
