SO BEAUTIFUL. Friendly service, loved. it

The view is magnificent. Staff were wonderful and accommodating.

The LaMariposa has beautiful views and very friendly and helpful staff. We happened to stay over a weekend with weddings both nights. As a result, we did not get any sleep as the party went on all night. The rooms are clean and spacious. The Wi-Fi (in room or lobby) did not work during our stay. As a result, the guests were all using the hotel computer. This was disappointing. The hotel is close to restaurants, beaches and the National Park.

Wonderful stay, staff exceptionally helpful. View from hotel magnificent. Expensive for what was a very basic room.

PROS: amazing views, pool is excellent, great location, staff is excellent- give you short tour and welcome drink before you check in. Bfast selection is pretty good, but view during bfast from open air dining area are amazing. CONS: If you have childres or extras in standard room, the base prices increases a good bit. Rooms are good, but not large so those extra charges in last step of room booking are somewhat mis-leading when you think you have X dollars base rate per night.

We had an amazing time at the mariposa, the view of the bay from our room was beautiful. The pools were modern and well maintained and the staff we're all very helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend!!

The view was amazing. The room was very modern and clean. The staff was very frindly and spoke english well. The food was a little bland but portion sizes were just right. Overall a great choice!

La Mariposa Hotel is set on the highest peak in Manuel Antonio. The views from our room (#10 and #9) were amazing, like a postcard! The views from the pool and dining area were the amazing as well. It's a very unique and tranquil place. The staff were friendly and cheerful. Only complaint: the drinks were expensive and did not contain much alcohol. A beer is your cheapest bet.

Great view with frindly, helpful staff. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Dined one night at the hotel. All our dishes were delicious. Dinner menu prices are in the $15-$30 range which is typical of resort dining. Difficult to get wi-fi unless you're near the front desk. Hotel bus transportation ran smoothly and on time.

It was a nice enough hotel, but lacked the amenities to back up the high price tag, especially when there are so many other hotels in the area. Pros: Service was stellar, the view was amazing, and the restaurant was great. Cons: the room was spartan: lots of space, but nothing on the walls, thin, terrible mattresses, only a sheet for bedding; the bathroom was full of ants and seemed to be crumbling (the tiles were in bad shape), the shower was dark and had little water pressure, and the in-room Wi-fi was nearly non-existent. There were restaurants nearby that were tasty, as well, though getting to a beach or grocery store required hopping on a bus (frequent, so not a huge problem).

They messed up the room reservations and would not correct them. They would not admit their mistake which ruined our family holiday. Don't stay here.

The location, the pool and the views were great, but the room did not feel secure and wasn't well-maintained. If you do stay here, skip the restaurant for lunch and dinner.

I love the look and feel of this quaint little hotel. Awesome views and the infinity pool were highlights. The hotel staff were awesome (Rudy was the greatest bartender), the food was great and service was top notch. I would stay again!

La Mariposa is very pretty, up high on the hill overlooking the water, with infinity pool and nice landscaping. The room had a great view as well but the decor is very odd and doesn't fit with the atmosphere (contemporary Euro style) - bed not very comfortable and the bathroom very dark with the black cement walls. Service was good and the people who worked there were all very friendly and helpful. The shuttle to the beach area only ran once in morning and once in afternoon, would have liked more continuous shuttle service so that we didn't have to take taxis everywhere. No beach access from hotel which was very inconvenient.

Everything was great. Yes it is a bit expensive but totally worth the price. Amazing views. We walked to the beach some times, but honestly....the views were so good that we preferred to just hang out in the patio. The breakfast was amazing too. Will definitely stay here if I return.

The location of the hotel is really handy for the local area. Its set on a hill which is easy to reach and this means one of the best views in the Manuel Antonio area. I had room 40 which was nicely furnished, comfortable big bed and amazing view. The view was stunning from the room view to the pool view. They really do have the best view in the area and you can relax by the pool to a beautiful sunset. I would reccommend this hotel and stay here again without hesitation.

I just gotta say, It's too expensive for what it is, however no doubt is one of the best hotels in the area. Its most important asset would be its staff, it from another league!!!. U.S is far from this type of attention. location wise is perfect, you have everything walking distance. People, is the middle of the jungle , don't expect to run into bugs, flies or monkeys. This hotel is the highest on Manuel Antonio. locals go there to get the best view of the Bahia. I think for the price breakfast could have more variety. I'd definitely stay here again.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I enjoyed everything about this place and would definitely stay here again on my next trip. The views are just as/ if not more incredible than the pictures online.

We loved our rooms! The kids had a lot of fun with the pools, the great breakfast, the lizards and the view was the best the area.

We loved the Mariposa! The location of the hotel is what makes it so wonderful. The view from the hotel is of the entire Manuel Antonio Beach. Our room was on the top floor and you could see forever. Don't ask for upper floors if you're scared of heights. The way to the room was a spiral metal outdoor staircase. The pool was very refreshing and nice to come back to after sightseeing. We hired a guide from the hotel to take us to Manuel Antonio Park. It was well worth it because he saw things that we wouldn't have been able to spot. Hotel needs a top Chef to complete the experience.

This hotel is overrated, our stay was so disappointing. The room was dismal, very uncomfortable bed. Hotels.com says "Signature bedding". Huh? The bedding was ultra cheap and the pillow covered in a plasticky cover that made the pillowcase fall off. We had to climb a few flights of stairs to get to the room, the stairs are slippery in the rain so unsafe with children. The only good thing was that someone carried our luggage up for us. The view from the hotel down in the pool area is beautiful. But from our room, the only way to see the ocean view is to sit at the very edge of the tiny balcony. Not at all what I saw in the photos on this website when I made the nonrefundable reservation. The photo here shows more windows in the room. There was an ashtray in our non-smoking room. The man at the front desk confirmed that all the rooms should be non-smoking. Later, another employee at the front desk said that our room did allow smoking, and this was a room advertised as non-smoking. They need to get their story straight. The shower only produced cold water, and was mildewy with the shower head loose from the wall. We took very short showers as it was cold and gross in there. There was a very bright light on all night long, which shone through the window above the door, and there was no way to turn it off or cover the window. I was surprised that they charged me for local calls , since the other hotels in CR didn't charge us.

Had a fantastic stay. The room was awsome. Stayed there 2 other times. First time in main building and room was spacious and view can't be beat. Breakfast was very good with great service at the pool swim up bar. The new pizza restaurant was excellent. The chef and waiter were great. Both visited our table several times to check on our satisfaction. The chef was entertaining and the best pizza guy around. Infinity pools were clean and very relaxing. There is no better view in all of Manuel Antonio, guaranteed. Jason, the desk manager spoke good English and was very helpful at all times. Can't wait to return.

You cannot beat the location of this hotel. Absolutely stunning views of the Pacific from the restaurant and pool area. This alone is worth the stay. Check in was a little slow and the staff wasn't as nice as other places we stayed during the week. The breakfast buffet was good but the food otherwise was not great and overpriced. We opted to eat out in other places. Having said that, I would recommend the hotel if you enjoy relaxing by the pool with a million dollar view.

Fabulous location and stunning view on hillside above the beaches and Manuel Antonio park. Lovely infinity pool with wrap around view. Room was in main building with spare but nice furnishings with some Costa Rican character and terra cotta tile floors. Beds were a little hard. Bathroom was small and could definitely use updating but was fine. Spiral staircases on exterior of building to get to room floors was a bit challenging for someone afraid of heights but worth it for the view.

This was my second trip to costa rica first stay at mariposa. The location is great. About 5 Klm to Manuel Antonio national park. The staff is over good. Bartender was very nice. The staff greets you with a nice cold drink. The front desk is very small. So they can't see you when you drive up hense no help with the bags. My only complaint would be the beds. Very uncomfortable. They are hard and so are the pillows. The spiral stairs are noisy so you can hear every time guess come up and down the stairs. I would sty here again per the location. P. S restaurant has the best lobster I have ever had. It's pricy but well worth it.

my wife and i spent three nights there, we took my parents and we had a good time, the staff, with the exception of a couple rotten apples, was very pleasant, i had a bad first impression at our arrival since there was no one there to help us out with our bags, or someone to direct us to the front desk, which after driving for three hours plus would've been very helpful and welcoming, but no. However they made up for this by upgrading both my parents' and our rooms to parcial ocean view and full ocean view respectively. over all our experience there was good, and the only reason why i wouldnt stay there again is their uuncomfortable matresses, fix that and i would definetaly stay there again. free wi fi in the bedrooms was also nice and convinient.

The view from our room was spectacular! (53) Absolutely breathtaking! The people who worked there were very nice. Small little issues, such as calling the front desk for extra pillows and never getting them. We asked the next day again and it was taken care of immediately. The control for our fridge was broken, so everything we put in froze. We didn't complain, as the beverages thawed quite quickly ounce we went outside on our balcony. A little bit of a walk uphill to get from the main road to the hotel entrance but since we are on a mountain this was to be expected. Breakfast buffet was your typical buffet and nothing to write home about and the one dinner we had was very good - Seafood platter for two. We chose to eat at other restaurants in the area for most meals. Pools were a little green - due to algae but nothing too serious. All in all we were very pleased with this hotel and would recommend it again.

Beautiful hotel with extrordinary views, Hotel staff very helpful and courteous. A bit pricy for the quality of the room I stayed in, however pools and grounds were wonderful. I would stay again despite price because the views and facilities were so nice.

First time staying at La Mariposa, and it was wonderful. The room was clean, very nice, and had a balcony with an ocean view, but that wasn't what made our stay so great. It was all about the pool. They have this gorgeous infinity pool with a 180 degree view overlooking the ocean. We spent an entire day lounging, swimming, and having tropical drinks (with umbrella's of course) and food (the lunch menu is a great deal, very good food for very reasonable prices). That was probably one of my favorite days of the vacation. The staff was nice, in fact I'd like to mention Steven, the pool bar tender, he was super friendly and took great care of us. He even taught me and my wife the basics for playing pool (billiards) which is right by the pool. Their complimentary breakfasts were very good (they were real breakfasts, not just some pastries and scrambled eggs) and you got to eat outside with that view. The wi-fi was free, and available at the pool area (perfect!), but the signal strength was very low in our room. One more thing I'd like to add, and this is important because I am...frugal...is that all of the prices were very reasonable. Drinks, food (let me repeat, lunch menu is great), and even their gift shop were all fantastic. We actually bought the majority of our souvenirs at their gift shop (a little ashamed to admit we did price checking at other gift shops in quepos and manuel antonio). I gave this hotel a 5, and after reading this review I'm sure you can see why, I was just very happy with my stay, and totally would come back and stay here again. Thanks La Mariposa!

This hotel seems to have no decorations... No artwork in rooms and even the blinds are outdated. We felt like we were staying in a hotel room. The whole time it seemed like there was no management on site and all the workers were younger than 25... IT even took 2 people to fry my eggs in the morning!!!! and still took more that 15 mins... Hotel left a lot to be desired for. All that being said: The view almost made up for it all. It seems that this hotel has one of the best views of the manuel antiono region!!!! unbelievable everytime and the pool was amazing...

This was a our 2nd stay in the last 12 months at LM. This time we got a room in the main bldg, beautiful sunsets right from your balcony. Great views from the dining area and pool. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Room was very comfortable. It is a hilly area so lot's of climbing. Lot's of good places to eat in walking distance. Our fav is El Avion, an old C-123 plane converted into a restaurant on the hillside overlooking the Pacific. Other places as well with good food and music. Manuel Antonio National Park is only 3 km down the road.

I have stayed at La Mariposa twice now and my view of the place hasn't changed. Every single employee at this hotel goes out of their way to make your experience as good as possible. The views can't be beat in Manuel Antonio. Pay extra for the better view because it is worth every penny! The grounds and pool are beautiful and the food is very fresh and delicious. The only downside to this hotel- it is quite old school which makes the place charming but certain little things need updating like shower heads, fixtures, furniture, pillows, etc, I think with a few simple upgrades the hotel would be a perfect.

We had a fantistic time at La Mariposa. The hotel has the best views in the area and very friendly, helpful staff. As one of the older hotels in the area it has a lot more character than some of the high end, new build hotels - although this could be a negativa for some.

La Mariposa is a great choice for a memorable stay. Once in the area I checked out some of the competitive hotels and feel it still has the best combination of facilities, particularly the killer pool area. Staff will bend over backwards to help make your stay and any related activities perfect.

Our friends reserve the garden view, which was moderate and nicer! The view is amazing! Our room was very simple .

This was our first trip to Costa Rica, especially Manuel Antonio area. La Mariposa, is a very relaxing hotel. The staff were super nice. They were ready to help and/or assist in any way possible. Other bars and hotels are walking distance. The view is incredible. Every room has a view. We had room 29 and it had an adjoing balcony but it was huge. rooms 28 and 29 are the only rooms with the extended balcony. you will love it because othe 360 view.

Hotel Mariposa was great. The staff was extremely friendly and rooms were comfortable and clean. I definitely recommend anyone who goes to Manuel Antonio to stay at the Mariposa. The restaurant staff were friendly and quick on their service. Swimming pools were clean and warm. Costa Rica is beautiful.

Great hotel with a great staff. Ate at the restaurant a few times, and the staff was super friendly. Food is little on the pricier side (compared to normal Costa Rican cost), but good.
