Clean, affordable and pleasant staff

We are regular guests at this great hotel. It meets all our needs-close to I-90 Tollway, great places to dine, very quiet . Staff goes out of their way to help guests feel right at home! Rooms are very clean, beds are gigantic and very comfortable! Whenever we must travel to Northern Illinois- The Holiday Inn & Suites is always our first choice!

It was a great hotel. The ability to get a quick late night snack at Bennigans was handy. I have stayed in other hotels in the area but this location was the quietest. AND convenient to the gas station and Dunkin Doughnuts across the street.

Staff was VERY friendly, rooms extremely clean and nice, very very happy with overall experience and breakfast buffet was great. Highly recommend! PS: I saw on some webite that were doing construction, however when we stayed July 15, 2012, it was done and you'd never know they had anything going on.

The hotel was is great condition and modernized. We loved it! The only disappointment that we had was that the pool was not open at the scheduled time. With two small kids we want to swim right at 7 before heading back on the road for home. But the pool wasn't going to be ready until at least 8-830. My two year old was bummed that he couldn't swim :( And - this is why we switched to the Holiday Inn - was for the pool!

Stayed for 2 nights and had excellent service from the staff when reservations were for the wrong days. Arrived a day earlier and they still made accommodations for us. While it is a bit far away from Downtown Chicago this has to be one of the nicest Holiday Inn's I have ever stayed in.

My son and I signed up to do a local race which was being held about 6-8 miles down the road. The whole family stayed for one night. The front desk staff was extremely friendly upon arrival. The room was big enough with 2 queen beds and extremely clean. We used the pool area which is inside also very clean and a nice size. Our room included breakfast which was actually a very nice meal, particularly after our race. Breakfast included eggs, Bacon sausage, French toast, fruit, cereal, of course coffee and juice, toast, sweet rolls and muffins. A really nice buffet. I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend this location to anyone.

The hotel was nice, clean, convenient. Benegans is located within the hotel which was great. My only complaint is that I saw previous comments about construction at this hotel and I called Hotels.com and Holiday Inn specifically to confirm whether or not construction was completed or still underway. Everyone told me it was completed, however right outside my room they were hanging a new sign. I stayed up late the first night preparing for an early morning meeting, then returned to the room after lunch for a nap, which was impossible due to the noise from the construction of the new sign. I was quite disappointed, especially since I had made two calls to be assured there would be no construction during my stay.

After having an amazing experience at the Holiday Inn Express the night prior we arrive at the Holiday Inn in Elgin. We get in and they are renovating and there are building materials right next to the door. Ok fine. I get up to the counter and was given our room keys and not given any other details at all (time checkout was, how long the pool was opened until, where it was located, how to get to our room) as to our stay. We get up to the room and we have a room with 2 beds instead of the king sized bed I had reserved in the first place. Now it would not have been so bad but the girl who check us in could have told me that I was not getting the room I asked for. We had a lot of stuff so we didn't want to have to move rooms at that point. Then I'm looking around for a guide book on the hotel explaining everything and there is NOTHING!! Not even a channel guide. My boyfriend and I both tripped and hurt ourselves in all the construction in the lobby and we say the manager 3 times and he never once asked us how our stay was. Which I thought was terrible. Bennigan's was nice, we had some drinks down there later in the evening at that was the only good thing about this hotel. The Whirlpool was out of order so that was not disclosed to us either. I am pretty sure we will never be going back here unless we get stuck going to a wedding receptions there and even then there are several other hotels surrounding this one. Stay at your own risk!

The lobby, dining room, and front desk areas are currently under renovation which is the reason for the lower rating. We have stayed here before and been very satisfied. We will be staying again in a few weeks and are looking forward to seeing the changes!

I loved the room and bed. It felt like a home away from home. Also it was nice to have the option of breakfast every morning.

Our stay at your hotel was very pleasant and enjoyable. The employees were very professional and the rooms were both comfortable and very clean. Great experience. We will not hesitate to stay there again.

The hotel was convenient with nice amenities however the room definitely needs to be upgraded. The furniture and carpet where very old and worn but all and all a very comfortable room.

I have been going to this hotel several times a year for over (10) years now. I have watched as the hotel condition and staff have deteriorated gradually. I have also noticed some rather "thugish" types hanging around the lobby. I think that it is time that this location goes through a major rennovation and bring in a more professional staff. For example, I stoof at the front desk 2X with nobody in sight for over 5 minutes. When someone finally showed up, no apology for the lapse. Another front desk employee thought that it would be a good idea to tell me his life story which was a bit depressing.

the hotel location is very convenient. Excellent attention in the front desk. Good parking. Rooms very clean, quiet and the bed is comfortable. No soft pillows, that's not good for me. Internet connection efficient and fast.

We dont get away much so this was perfect for the both of us. We spend most of our time getting the the kids what they need so time spent alone is minimal.The room was much better than we expected and we were both impressed.

I enjoyed the hotel alot, the front desk staff was professional an courtesy. Also, the restuarants at the hotel provided superior service. Overall, my stay was the most pleasant hotel stay I have had in the last 3 years. I will definately be choosing the Holiday Inn for my next hotel stay.

Excellent place to stay. Great location, right off I-90. Has a Bennigans in the lobby that is open late. Has a separate restaurant for breakfast that is also good. Bed was very comfortable. Would stay here again.

We stayed three nights. The first night there was a strange odor of cigarette smoke in our room. We stayed there that night because it was late and the second and third night they moved us to a new room on a different floor that had no odor. We were looking for a place near the Chicago Metra Station to take the train into the city. It was a short drive. We also enjoyed drinks and dinner at Bennigans.

Everything was great!!! very happy!!

Have stayed here previously and found everything to be quite satisfactory.

Overall experience was excellent. My grandson really enjoyed the pool which is child friendly. Hotel staff was cordial and friendly and everything was clean and comfortable.
