Cambridge City Hotel - كامبريدج

The hotel is in a great location, parking was easy (albeit expensive at £18) but being valet you just pull up, take your bags out and walk in whilst the car gets parked for you.The Foyer area is big and bright, and the reception staff are friendly, my main issue is with the rooms themselves, they are quite tired and dull looking now and definitely need a revamp, the beds are comfy and it's clean enough but I can't help but feel it is overpriced for the rooms it offers. It's a 3.5 star review from me, it would get 4 stars if the rooms were a bit more modern (who has a CRT Television in a hotel room these days?!) It was a bit like a mid-90's hotel.

too expensive for what you get. my bed at premier hotels are far comfier. ddn't even include breakfast. £12 for breakfast !!! comfy bed but kept rolling into centre of bed! my sandwich from room service was a little stale small area of mould. didn't make a fuss as i wanted a quiet relaxed stay.also £3.50 tray service ?? £17.50 for 2 poor sandwiches.

Although the beds were very comfy, the room itself was very tired and grubby. Air conditioning was poor with night temp a high 16 and unable to open window for fresh air. No hot water in the bath, took several days to correct. Taxi asked for on departure wasn't booked.

We enjoyed using the Cambridge City hotel as our base of operations in town. It was very conveniently located. The only downside was no ala carte breakfast menu availability. The full english breakfast was more food than I wanted and more that I wanted to spend each morning.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. It was fine but I think there are nicer places to stay in Cambridge. It's in a noisy, rougher part of Cambridge but still only a short walk to the scenic university buildings. The room was quite dark but comfortable. Breakfast very expensive so didn't have that at the hotel. Noise from the pub or nightclub could be heard til midnight on the Sat night.

We stayed one night in Cambridge City. It was ok, but seemed overpriced for the quality of the facilities. Everything was fine, but felt quite dated. I was also disappointed that in this day and age they charge extra for WiFi. On the plus side, it was well-located, and within walking distance of most sights in Cambridge.

Excellent value and service, one room with 2 large beds sufficient for 4 adults

We booked a king suite for our 2 night stay, and we were extremely dissapointed that all the suites in the hotel are positioned right behind the lifts. Needless to say all you can hear is the lift going up and down and the doors creaking open. We asked to be moved and were told we could be moved to a normal king room, but they could not offer us a suite due to all being positioned next to the lifts. This I really dont understand, why put your most expensive rooms in the noisiest place!! We had a comfortable stay in our new room, though i do feel for the cost of the rooms they are starting to look quite tatty, i.e. a big crack across the sink! Bed was comfortable and room temperature was easy to control. I would stay here again, because of the location, but I would not pay the extra for a suite. It would have been nice to be offered a refund for some of the cost of the suite as we didn't get to stay in it.

Great Position but run down and Shabby, used to be Crowne Plaza but needs major re-furb. Linen was clean but decor/carpet poor. Breakfast was cold every morning. :-(

Perfect location- quiet but a stone throw from the shops, bars and restaurants. The room was excellent and had a very comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Easy valet parking and friendly staff. I look forward to my next visit!

great customer service and location.

Basic clean room, good location. i was disappointed to discover that, on checking my bank statment , the hotel had charged me for the room (which was fully paid) and a dinner I didn't have, they refunded it now but still feel disappointed and won't trust them with my card again

The reception and concierge staff were very helpful, however like so many hotels when you get to the room it's a disappointment. We'd stayed in a hotel in central Norwich the night before which was half the price and more than twice as good. Surely in these times a widescreen and flatscreen TV should be standard? Condition of room generally poor - it had everything, but everything also felt heavily "used" and past it's best.

It's still a good hotel and you can't beat the location, However, it's not quite as nice any longer as it was when it was still a Crowne Plaza. Starting from the toiletries in the room, it all feels a bit cheaper.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Cambridge City Hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and ensured we had everything we needed to make it a pleasure to stay. The hotel is spotless and as it is situated next door to John Lewis and the centre of Cambridge, what more could you ask. We will definitely be returning.

Great. Except prefer to be able to open bedroom window. Heating system annoying and puzzling.

Great location, rooms were very dated and food was too expensive but overall it was okay.

The hotel was excellently located opposite the college where we were dining. It provided everything we required for a comfortable overnight stay.

Street side rooms are noisy - lots of drunken revelry at night. Breakfast is expensive. Otherwise this place is fine.

Very good but not as good as when it was crowne plaza. Will stay again.

Firstly, the hotel doesn't state that parking there involves paying £18 per night so be wary of that. The room also wasn't as large as the photos made out to be but it was still adequate and due to being in Cambridge, not much time will be spent in the room. The hotel was perfectly placed in the centre of town, 5 minute walk from the Colleges. I would recommend The Chop House for a meal and going punting. Great experience

Hotel pleasant enough and staff very friendly, but everything was very expensive (food, drinks, internet access). I would not use it again.

We stayed in this hotel for a surgical conference. The hotel was really reasonably priced and had lots of amenities. However the breakfast, parking and bar are all quite expensive. Also the lack of inclusive wifi was disappointment.

The room was nice, very professional but the TV should be updated. Still a CRT. The bed was very comfortable and location excellent as it is near enough in central Cambridge

Stayed for 4 nights on business and the only comment I have is it was just 'ok'. First nights arrival the room was very cold and took several hours to warm up, the rooms are very tired looking and in need of a refurb including the very old small CRT TV. I opted not to have the breakfast at nearly 18GBP! and walked around the corner to Starbucks in the mornings. I only ate at the hotel once and must say it was the worst dinner I have ever had.. Chose the chicken dhansak and it was just awful, i have had better 1.99 microwave meals.. The chicken tasted horrible and the dish was just bland. Did not eat in the main restaurant so maybe that would've been better. The hotel staff were polite and helpful and the location was very good.

friendly staff, fantastic location right next to john lewis in the centre and free valet parking but avoid the £18 overnight parking charge by parking your car on the next street in the evening when parking is unrestricted and giving it back to valet early in the morning before restrictions kick in. nice and clean place, good lobby and bar area, lacking any character or special little touches once you get to the rooms but nothing wrong with them. wifi is not free, bit silly but you can get mobile signal.

Very convenient for colleges and sights - easy walking distance. We went for a graduation - a family of 6 one of whom was in a wheel chair. When I booked, 3 weeks prior to arrival, it was called the Crowne Plaza. I was a bit concerned when the sign on the hotel read Cambridge City. The hotel has a private area in the attached parking lot, directly accessible through the hotel, which - although expensive at GBP18 per night - is essential in central Cambridge. The beds were comfortable. The staff are plentiful and helpful. Things I complained about were attended to. So saying we had no hot water in the bath / shower the first morning; only 1 of 3 rooms had a safe and that did not work; only 1 of 3 rooms had a fridge; the toilets and the carpets were dirty. We had requested a disabled access room and this was provided equipped with wide door, toilet and bath rails and emergency bell pulls. However when my mother pulled one of those thinking it was the light switch, nobody responded. The new management (read the front desk) said they were aware of a lot of problems and apologised saying they were working on addressing these. I would stay again and hope that it had improved as the location and the parking outweigh a lot of negatives.

The hotel is in avery good location and very central. I would have preferred a room with a window that opened.

It was very very plesent will certenly stay again

Right in the centre of town, with convenient valet parking. Once parked up you can walk to most places. Excellent staff; helpful and accommodating. Great breakfasts. Two double beds in the room keeps the cost down for families. Only negative is that the rooms need an update.

Can't get more 'central', but pay for it. Housekeeping didn't respond to issue re bathroom, charged for papers without notice that there was a charge, time of Monday breakfast wasn't posted, so I missed it because is closed an hour earlier than weekend. Won't be back; will try other places, even if not as central.
