Hotel tired with run down decor. Comfortable beds. Great position to visit attractions in Kensington.

Nice smaller hotel in great upper scale area. A five minute walk to the Tube station. Five minute walk to the Natural History Museum and others. A good number of eateries and shops nearby. I would come back again.

We were generally really happy with our stay. Declined expensive breakfast/meals, but dined locally (500m?) in lovely restaurants. About 500m from tube station so was easy to regularly come back to hotel. Only real complaint was that it appeared to need a little better upkeep (some scuffed walls, bathroom toilet roll holder hanging off, screws in bathroom needing plastic covers, etc.) but generally felt clean. We would DEFINITELY stay again.

This hotel is just minutes away from the Gloucester Road tube stop on the Picadilly, District and Circle Lines, which is ideal. The room we had was small by American standards, but average by European standards. It would have benefited from a few more outlets to charge cell phones, cameras, etc. Our toilet never really flushed properly, but the water pressure in the shower was heavenly. The biggest complain relates to the beds: they were soft and sagging and left me with a back ache throughout my trip. I complained at check out and they suggested they would look into it, but who knows.

This place was fantastic! Staff was wonderful & even held our bags for us for 2 days after we checked out & went to Paris. The rooms are small, but we didn't mind because it felt very authentic for old world London. The view out of the room was spectacular. Location was perfect, can't recommend this hotel enough. We loved it!!

Loved the location- very close to the tube. However, we were in a basement room- which I now find after reading other reviews, is one of their smallest. There was definately not enough space for luggage for 2 people. The hotel did not have wireless internet but the staff was very helpful in helping me connect through a landline connection. -note: they are in the process of installing wireless internet- When checking in we would highly recommend requesting a room with more floor space if you are traveling with more than a carry on.

Close to Gloucester Road tube station. The staffs are very helpful. The room is a bit too small but on our 2nd stay, we asked to have a bigger room. They finally gave us a bigger room but it was on the lower ground floor and it was a bunk bed!

We stayed at the hotel for 3 days. The area is really great, close to metro, with beautiful parks very close by, museums, tons of restaurants and cafes. The room was ok, definitely livable for 3 days, very clean with a comfortable bed. The staff was super friendly and very helpful at all times.

There were problems with our room the first night, but luckily staff was able to move us the next day. If we couldn't be moved out of the airless basement room, we would have looked for other accommodations. Location is convenient to shopping, restaurants, and some museums; two underground stations are nearby. Room had no storage space, we lived out of open suitcases on our night tables, but I believe this is typical in most places.

The overall stay the hotel was great. They accommodated several issues and all was good. Some overbooking caused for me to change rooms but they did offer a free breakfast as a remedy.

A convient location, however the size of the room was poor and completely unsuitable for more than a one night stay. The bathroom was freezing, especially at this time of year and was in need of updating. Breakfast was very expensive and there were equivilant coffee shops at one third of the cost at a stones throw away. Some staff were helpful but a very poor atmosphere overall. We would not stay here again. 2/12/10

this hotel had torn rugs in the hall and chipped paint on the doorways. not ideal for business travelers: room is tiny, no safe in room, no wireless internet and wired internet too slow and expensive, no space on desk to put Computer and phone at same time.

The location is in a nice area of South Kensington/Chelsea. It is right by the Natural History museam and the Victoria and Albert Museam. It is also close to the tube, which we took everywhere. The beds and bedding are very nice and comfortable. No A/C in the rooms, but they gave us fans to use. I think the rooms would be hot in the summer as they were quite warm when the sun shone in the windows. So the interiors of the rooms are nice but the hallways and doors to the rooms need a touch up of paint. The staff is very nice. I would not hessitate to stay there again.

What to say? The hotel staff were in general cordial & helpful. However the room was 1) small 2) no air conditioning and it was hot 3) TV wasn't working properly & 4) internet didn't work at all. Furthermore I had expected that internet would be complimentary from the ad, but had it worked it would have been 10 pounds a day - very pricey. The location is great and the guest lounge comfortable.

The hotel is not a 4 star hotel but a reasonable 3 star in need of refubishing. Some electric outlets not working and the carpet in various locations was thread bare. Toilet didn't always want to flush. Best not to use it. Close to the tube, supermarket and resturants. Good value if you can get it at a low 3 star rate.

Quick summary: If you're looking for roomy, American-hotel-chain sized rooms with full bathtubs and extra chairs and such to spread out, you're best looking somewhere else. The rooms are small and "European". We WOULD recommend this place to low-maintenance travelers looking for an "old-school charming", clean, safe, charismatic type of small hotel. The guys at the desk know you, they can make you a drink in the bar/library, and you can relax in a leather chair at the end of the day. Details: The Grange Strathmore itself is charming, cozy, and the neighborhood's great. Though it was right off a bustling road and a couple blocks from a tube station, the street is surprisingly quiet and pleasant. The location couldn't have been more convenient or safe, and it's only a semi-short walk from gorgeous Kensington Gardens. The Gloucester Road Underground station is close, and you can get anywhere from there. There are also a couple great little spots to grab a quick fry-up breakfast or coffee right there. The hotel also has a 24-hour lounge/bar area only for the guests, and it's also very charming. We had a nightcap in there a couple times, which was really nice to have. The rooms... well, the room we had was a first floor room (meaning the floor above ground level) and it was fairly tiny (but very clean, warm, and welcoming). We had to move around a couple pcs. of furniture so we could walk and set up our suitcase. We kinda tripped over one another a bit at first, but we got used to it, and it became less annoying and more funny. The bathroom was also comically small, but it too was very clean and updated, so we didn't care. Both the bathroom and bedroom had everything we needed, and by day two, we didn't mind the size of it. All in all, good hotel, good service. I'd stay there again.

Having stayed in other London hotels I have come to expect that they can often be small and costly. So we were impressed and surprised to get a lovely big room on the first floor. My guess is that the smaller ones people have reviewed are on the top floors - it is an old town mansion so this makes sense. It also means that there is no flash lobby however there is a large bar. Decor was pleasant, again not flashy but more genuinely old so you get a good feel for the original style of living here which adds to the experience . Location is great - nice area close to tube stop. Able to get in to Picadilly quickly. Staff were helpful and polite.

Hôtel bien situé, zone calme, à 5 minutes du métro. Chambre confortable mais très petite, espace très réduit pour deux personnes, pas de place de rangement et armoire très exiguë. Le personnel est très accueillant et serviable.

virkelig god beliggenhed i skønt kvarter med masser af gode restauranter, mm. Men ellers meget midelmådigt

Habitacion pequeña y baño microscopico, no internet si no pagas libra 15min, recepcion no hablan idiomas y tras reservar habitacion de fumador cosa que queda bien clara en la reserva en este hotel no hay habitaciones de este tipo encima el personal de recepcion se mostro prepotente, 4 estrellas y ni nevera en la habitacion y por supuesto ningun canal televisivo en español

Hotellet var ok og personalet hjelpsomme. Det eneste problemet var at rommet vi hadde var grusomt varmt!!! Det var sikkert over 30 grader og det hjalp ikke å åpne vinduet. Det var ikke mer enn ca 15 grader ute, så jeg ville ikke ha overnattet der på sommeren. Et vennepar hadde et annet rom og der var det ikke så varmt, så det er avhengig av hvor man havner.

Nice and clean hotel, friendly and incredibly helpful staff. Comfortable, spacious and clean rooms. Close to underground stations, shops, museums etc Don´t expect overwhelming luxury, however this hotel is a bargain to the price.

Das Hotel liegt in einer gepflegten Umgebung, zentral und doch ruhig. In wenigen Schritten ist man bei der U-Bahn-Station Gloucester Road, kann gemütlich etwas essen oder einkaufen. Alles, was man benötigt, liegt in nächster Nähe. Sogar der Sightseeing Bus "Big Bus" hält in der Nähe. Und zu Fuss in den Hyde Park ist ein Katzensprung. Das Hotel ist klein und fein, typisch englisch mit viel Charme. Die Angestellten sind nett und hilfsbereit. Unser Twin Room war hübsch, die Zwischenräume sehr eng (typisch für London), das Bad tip top, die Betten sehr weich, wie Wolke 7. Kurz, ich würde wieder buchen.

We spend 3 nights at hotel Grange strathmore and had most luxurious stay I've ever had in any hotel, we only spend nights at the hotel, but returning to clean room with beds made and access to television was more than enough. Hotel itself was at great destination for us as we spend our time mostly walking around in London. For the first timers visiting the London, even if your stay is short one I can recommend this hotel wholeheartely.

Our room was dark with a very small window placed high on the wall. It was extremely ho in the room - considerably warmer that anywhere else in the hotel, with no possibility for lowering the temperature. As such, the room was well overpriced, as was the english breakfast.

Hotellet är billigt och eftersom London är generellt dyrt kanske det är prisvärt men förutom den stora fördelen att det ligger på en mycket lugn gata och i trevliga Kensington är det svårt att skriva nåt särskilt positivt om det. När vi anlände fick vi vårt rum "down below ", vilket på engelska betyder "downstairs", dvs med fönstret nedanför gatunivå i den vallgrav som så ofta omgärdar londonhus från förra seklet. Mörkt är bara förnamnet! Sängen var mycket hård- resårmadrass utan bäddmadrass och överhuvudtaget kändes det som om man var ute och tågluffade igen. Undvik om ni inte är ute efter nåt väldigt billigt för detta är inte fyrstjärnigt i någon vettig bemärkelkse.

Das Hotel ist im typisch englischen Plüsch-Stil gehalten. Es scheint vor nicht all zu langer Zeit renoviert worden zu sein und befindet sich in einem sehr guten Zustand (Stand Juli 2009). Die Zimmer sind zwar nicht groß aber dafür recht nett eingerichtet. Die Betten waren bequem und nciht durchgelegen. Auch sonst war die Ausstattung gut (bis hin zu einem relativ großen Flachbildfernseher). Das Bad war überraschend groß und schön. Bei offenen Fenstern sollte man nur schlafen, wenn man nicht zu Lärmempfindlich ist, da die Lüftungsanlage des Hotels im Hinterhof zu hören ist. Für uns stellte dies kein Problem dar. Und notfalls hilt es das Fenster zu schließen. Ansonsten waren die Zimmer recht Schalldicht. Von den anderen Gästen haben wir nicht viel gehört. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Eine U-Bahnstation mit guter Anbindung befindet sich zwei Gehminuten vom Hotel entfernt. Alles in allem kann man das Hotel absolut empfehlen. Wer noch zentraler Wohnen möchte, kann von der gleichen Hotelkette das Schwesterhotel in Soho versuchen, welches ebenfalls empfehlenswert ist.

Grange Strathmore er et rigtig fint hotel, vi havde et dejligt pænt og rent værelse. Bedst er nu beliggenheden. Der er 3 minutters gåtur til undergrunden med tre linier til 'hele' London. Derudover er der nogle gode busruter lige om hjørnet, så det er let at komme rundt i byen.
